Michael Bloomberg Blames Newtown Shooting on NRA: ‘Connecticut Is Because of Some of Their Actions’

NY Mayor Michael Bloomberg Blames Newtown Elementary School Shooting on NRA

New York mayor Michael Bloomberg is self-admittedly no fan of guns or the National Rifle Association. But the mayor went a step farther in an interview with ABC’s “Nightline” on Wednesday night, saying it is because of some of the NRA’s actions that the Newtown, Conn. mass shooting occurred.

“We’re not trying to take away your right to advance the interests of gun owners, hunters, people who want to protect themselves,” Bloomberg said. “But that’s not an absolute right to encourage behavior which causes things like Connecticut. In fact, Connecticut is because of some of their actions.”

Last week, Adam Lanza killed his mother before driving to Sandy Hook Elementary School and killing 20 children and six adults before he committed suicide. Almost immediately following the tragedy, Bloomberg was calling for stricter gun laws.

The New York mayor, who co-founded the Mayors Against Illegal Guns group, has called on President Barack Obama to support strong gun control legislation. Bloomberg must have been pleased when Obama appointed Vice President Joe Biden to lead a gun-violence task force.

In the “Nightline” interview, Bloomberg slammed Obama for moving “in the wrong direction” on guns. He criticized the president for passing two bills that permitted Americans to carry guns in National Parks “where our kids play” and on Amtrak trains.

Out of respect for the victims, the NRA remained silent until Wednesday, when it announced that the group was “prepared to offer meaningful contributions to help make sure this never happens again.” The organization also announced that it will hold a press conference on Friday morning.

Even the former Mayor of NYC, Mayor Rudy Guiliani (who supports an assault weapon ban) stated on the Larry Kudlow show tonight that the incident in Newtown was due to mental illness which we need to look at and the assault weapons ban that expired would not have prevented this tragedy.

Mayor Bloomberg shame on you to politicize this tragedy but then again progressives have no shame.

      Bloomburger is one deceiving snake.

Top Ten Countries with Highest Murder Rates

      Murder Rates (Per 100,000)

      82.1 – Honduras
      66.0 – El Salvador
      56.9 – Cote d’Ivoire
      52.1 – Jamaica
49.0 – Venezuela (Bolivarian Republic of)
      41.7 – Belize
      41.4 – Guatemala
38.2 – Saint Kitts and Nevis
      38.0 – Zambia
      36.3 – Uganda

All these nations have way more stricter gun laws than the US.

If the CT mass murderer would not have had a rifle, but only a handgun and shot gun, he would have killed the same amount of people. No law prohibiting “assault weapons” would have stopped him. How stupid can liberals be? He could have only had the handgun with him, and it would not matter, the police got there in ten minutes. The innocent souls in that school building were left defenseless by the school administrators and progressives in Washington. Banning the rifle and shotgun wouldn’t have done jack squat.

Liberals, if someone in the school was actually armed to protect the children, lives would have been saved! What do you think police showed up with, nunchucks? No, Guns!

If a teacher or the principle at least had a gun in a locked safe, in the case for such emergencies, lives would have been saved. Show me facts proving otherwise, not presumptions based on illogical reasoning.

Let’s take a walk down reality lane:

“The Pearl High School shooting was a school shooting that took place on October 1, 1997 at Pearl High School in Pearl, Mississippi. The gunman, 16-year-old Luke Woodham, killed two students and injured seven others at his high school. Before the shooting at Pearl High School began, Woodham stabbed and bludgeoned his mother to death in his home.

The school’s assistant principal, Joel Myrick, retrieved a .45 pistol from his truck and, spotting him near the parking lot, shouted for Woodham to stop. Woodham instead got into a his mother’s car and tried to escape. Myrick, a US Army Reserve commander, detained Woodham until authorities arrived.”

You see how that works? The principle prevented further harm, subjected the murderer, and safely waited for the police to arrive. Let me repeat that, s – a – f – e – l – y waited for the police to arrive. No one else was murdered or threatened while waiting for the police to arrive, and the murderer was quickly apprehended by an armed good guy. Is that too much to ask for?

Bloomberg is a sorry excuse for a human being, this is why.

This is a question Bloomberg and all politicians and civic leaders need to answer.

Why do they care more about the safety of politicians than that of our children?

After every mass shooting in a school there is talk of arming teachers or providing armed guards in the school. Every time politicians and anti-gun groups scream that this only endangers our children.
Yet, in the nations capital and in virtually every court house and capital building in the nation there are armed guards protecting the politicians and judges. What makes these people so much more important than our children? Why do they deserve to be protected with armed guards and our children are not?
If armed guards will not work in schools and college dorms why does it work in capital buildings and court houses across the nation?
Our politicians create “gun free†zones in our schools and place millions of our children in them every day of the week. Worse, these same politicians then advertise to every mentally ill person and terrorist in the world that our children are in these building totally unprotected. At the same time theses “responsible leaders†make sure everyone knows that their buildings are protected and that they have armed body guards.
We have seen this terrible scenario play out around the world, not just here in the US. In some places the political leaders take appropriate action and put a stop to it by plac

I respectfully disagree, not only should gun free zones be illegal in America for violating the 2nd Amendment to begin with, but communities could park an empty police car at campus with random showings of real police officers or security cards, if they don’t have the will power to be responsible enough to take the training that our military veterans, police officers and professional instructors to provide the decades of crime prevention experience and apply it to the personal responsibility of our lives?

You can not regulate personal responsibility, and that is the purpose behind the US Constitution, to articulate that in order to have a united nation, you must have a united sense of personal responsibility not only in the arena of arms, but foreign relations, economic, and other standards that effect our communities, to hold politicians accountable to the maximum extent of the law, but limit their liability to the point where we have the incentive to be responsible individually, so that collectively we demonstrate what being united is all about? Politicians will never be able to regulate a population with individuals who possess free will, they can only lead it?

Israel has had armed teachers in their schools since the early 70s. A string of terrorist attacks (with REAL assault rifles) left lots of Israeli children dead, so the Israelis asked for volunteers. The next few attacks didn’t go as planned for the terrorists so they went looking for new softer targets. The Israelis haven’t had a terrorist attack on their schools since 1974. Funny how having people being able to defend themselves tends to discourage or stop mass murder.

A lone gunman kills eight = terrorism? Don’t think so. Ever heard of Fort Hood?

The most salient part, from Wikipedia:

“The attacker was stopped by long-time Mercaz HaRav student Yitzchak Dadon and off-duty Israel Defense Forces Captain David Shapira who fought back using their personal firearms.”

History has taught us too many times, that:

      1. You cannot prevent an attack if the attacker is suicidal.
      2. To stop, or mitigate the damage of an attack, good people must be armed.
