Hot Mic Catches Reporters Bad-Mouthing NRA Presser: ‘They Basically Said It Was Everyone’s Fault But Ours’

A hot mic seemingly caught a group of reporters bad mouthing the National Rifle Association’s press conference on Friday while they waited for the daily State Department press briefing to begin.

“[The NRA] basically said it’s everybody’s fault but ours,” one reporter said, adding that NRA Chair Wayne LaPierre failed to bring up assault weapons.

LaPierre told reporters on earlier on Friday that the “only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun.”

The hot mic also caught a female reporter saying the Code Pink protesters who disrupted the press conference did a “really good job” of making signs big enough to hide the NRA chair’s face, keeping it from being viewed by the cameras temporarily.

The group of reporters laughed when one said that the NRA chair was “probably packing” and that no one would be “stupid enough” to pull a gun during the event. An unknown reporter added that the security personnel at the press conference looked like WWF wrestlers and joked they probably hit one of the activists with a chair after they removed her from the room.

Listen to the conversation below:

Do you think the journalists were out of line?

In CONTROL, Glenn Beck presents a passionate, fact-based case for guns that reveals why gun control isn’t really about controlling guns at all; it’s about controlling us. Find out more HERE.

There were exiting gun ban laws that didn’t stop a damn thing either. I suppose you’re one of those people that can trust school teachers for 8 hours with your child but can’t trust any of those same teachers with a firearm. I suggest you move to another country that can’t trust it’s uncivilized populous with their own means of self defense.

well, I disagree with the notion that there should be armed cops at school—it would make parents feel like they are sending their kids to a police state. But I do think that fully trained, vetted and armed uniformed or plain clothes security guards would be a good idea. Unlike cops, the guards could be told that their only real job is school safety. In other words, if they spot a couple of kids smoking under the bleachers—tobacco or pot–they are to ignore it. They are only to react if there is serious trouble. You can’t tell a cop that but a properly trained guard can make that work just fine.

Exactly, Bukowski! You win the prize! That’s why the teachers should be packing. Do you think one or even two armed security guards can be everywhere when some schools are huge complexes?

Stupid NRA? If there was no NRA, no one but the police and Gov. would be armed. How’d that work out in Russia, China, Cuba, Sudan, Rwanda, Cambodia…etc, etc? If some armed perp’s blast through your front door at 3am do you want to be armed or defensless?

      To all Patriots……
As we talk about the nonsense that will be thrown at gun-rights advocates by the communist-indoctrinated left, let us not forget that the land-barrons are gradually, slowly, eating away at our private-property rights.
As I type, various radical groups like the Sierra Club and their friends are buying right-of-ways to link various tracts of forest. They do this under the pretense of giving bears and other far ranging wildlife accesss to more forrest.
This all fits in nicely with the UN’s Agenda-21 program. For those of you who do not read, the plan is for regionalization of the population. Just make all the private property off limits to humans through various schemes.
Re-designation of current public-accessed land to “Wildlands” status will close much of the land-mass in the US to humans.
But…….for now, I guess we have to listen to these little empty-headed twit reporters with their Socialist/Communist educations with no knowledge of what I just typed.

Yep. I have an opinion. In the state of Texas the prison system does not allow guns inside the prison, only in the pickets. There is a reason for that. REASON. Anyone who cannot reason or understand why that is it is simple. Also posted are signs. You (the public) enter the prison at your own risk as Texas does not deal with inmate demands. Period. Thus. Having noticed if anyone disagrees with the idea of teachers and school authorities packing guns they are the subject of ridicule by those “more knowledgeable”. Considering the reason behind (or up front) if one factors in teachers inside the schools under the same pressure as authorities (guards) who have intense training it is my opinion of course it is not a good idea. (Rave rave holler holler). If anyone can PROVE a teacher could not be overcome by a student of age (what age?) or a disgruntled parent or another teacher or janitor or cafeteria worker on and on the debate could be a closed case. On the other hand outside in the pickets is a whole other ballgame. I don’t know the answers but it seems to me a teacher could have the warning button as banks do, a direct hotline to the outside, etc. You want the schools like mini prisons? The airports are already there..pat down everyone? Come on!!!!

A well trained guard (or guards), rather than a person with a pistol just trying to make an extra buck, is much better than a gun-free zone. Also, there was an assault weapons ban at the same time as that unfortunate shooting. You missed the NRA’s point, which most of the liberals did because you think a new law will change everything. Keep blaming those “scary” looking guns though, if it works in your sheltered little world.

Give it a little thought all of you gun hating douche bags. You blame gun violence on the fact that we are allowed by the constitution to bare arms.

In Switzerland most gown adult males are required bt law to own a gun, and they have some of the lowest murder rates in the world. I wonder has logic ever entered you mind at any point in your life?

When a person aims a gun at another person and pulls the trigger, it’s not the gun’s fault its the person’s fault that does the shooting. To remove the freedoms of the people in this country should not be the first place we look every time a tragic evernt happens.

The less freedom we have, the more control the government has, and the closer to communism we are. Russia who knows something about communism says we are already a communist country.

Well I have to say the fault was of a gun owner. As I understand it his mother owned the guns. She knew what was going on with him. She should have had them locked up. If he was dangerous enough she should have had them removed from her home. I hate to blame a victim, but I have to be honest. It was his mother’s fault. She was not a responsible gun owner. Don’t take guns away from everyone because one person was irresponsible though. The bad guys will be the only ones with the guns if that happens. Oh yes there will be police, but how many people have a policeman in their back pocket everywhere they go?

Yes, there were police officers at Columbine. And they did exactly what they were trained to do at the time. Set a perimeter and wait for SWAT. Those days are gone. Now, when there is an active shooter call, cops are trained to run into the building and neutralize the threat immediately. So, an armed police officer at schools, or an off duty officer working a second job, would confront a threat much more differently than the officers at Columbine.

bukowski72 . . . . don’t want to have armed guards at the schools because it is useless? Let’s just CLOSE the schools, leave the children at home with their mamas so THEY teach them what they want to know, and then the children will be safe, right? Have you checked out what segment of the population poses the greatest threat to children these days? Most children who are hurt or killed suffer at the hands of their own parents!!!

Perhaps you are one of those who believe the children should be removed from the home at birth and placed in gov’t owned and run schools with little or no contact with their parents! That was tried in Nazi Germany, and it really worked out well!!!

Not every “armed cop” is actually ready to react to that level of violance. If you watch the videos of the mass shootings you notice that the cops spend most of time hiding behind their cars, trees, and any other cover they can find while people inside are dying. This takes training and a mindset that many cops do not have. When my youngest son was still in high school they had a school resource officer who was supposed to be there to protect the kids, but I really wondered then and now who picked him. From talking with him I don’t believe he had the mindset to protect them. He was too interested in being their buddy.

Here is what is stupid. That the media and the government continues to run around after horrific tragedies attempting to draw on the emotion of the moment rather than using their brains for once. A tragedy requires people to step back, catch his or her breath and don’t make impulsive decisions based wholely on emotion. These guns appear to “look like “assault rifles” but the weapon only fires a bullet as fast as you can pull the trigger…just like a hunting rifle or a hand gun. The only difference is the number of bullets in the clip. My question again is when do we look at ourselves in the mirror and take responsibility for our own actions and/or inactions? When that happens we will begin to see the necessary changes we need to see in this country. Until then we will continue to see knee jerk reactions and blame flung at everything else and everybody else.

these are not my words but seem very succinct and to the point: Lack of conscience is the problem both for individuals and for nations. Among nations the problem is nuclear (and all other) weapons in the hands of bad regimes. And among Americans the problem is guns in the hands of bad people.

Want to know a major cause of criminal violence in America? Try leftism’s denial of the importance of moral values among nations and individuals; its systematic destruction of character education; and its elimination of God as the source of moral law.

What did Jennings do to keep our schools safe? What was his plan?

Why is the MSM not holding Obama accountable for his pick of safe school czar?

Why does the MSM seem to care so much about this incident, but ignored Fast and Furious. Are the two cases not both involving those evil Assault Rifles, that Geraldo told us this morning on Fox make the shooter not have to think, but allow them to spray children.

This does not surprise me when you know that the Communist Party agenda included:

      20. Infiltrate the press. Get control of book-review assignments, editorial writing, policymaking positions.
      29. Discredit the American Constitution by calling it inadequate, old-fashioned, out of step with modern needs, a hindrance to cooperation between nations on a worldwide basis.

The idiots in America have been deceived; indoctrinated not educated, a media that is corrupt gate keepers of information, agenda that is designed to drive this country in a direction designed to destroy it. Fabians, Frankfurt School, Antonio Gramcsi’s work of taking a Judeo/Christian culture down from the inside; creating a people so dumbed down they not only want cradle to grave government care but they can’t exist without it – can’t critically think, they can’t serve on juries competently and can’t vote intelligently. Useful idiots for the state.
Gun control is just one of their weapons. The cadre of intellectuals that have trained Gramsci shock troops of teachers and media hacks to take this which was a Judeo/Chrsitan culture down from within…and the beauty of it is the victims of it will be fighting for it:

I’ve totally tuned out of the “drive-by media”..and I can’t remember the last time I watched CCN, MSNBC, or any of the other formerly major network news. They don’t believe in our laws, our Constitution and our general traditional American morality, so I have no use for them.

The only reliable news can be had on the Blaze, WND, the Drudge Report, and (for the most part) Fox News…along with some smaller news sources. I find them more honest and sincere.

How dare you ask such questions?

You really need to read the memo to all media:

Regardless, of the obvious truth, absolutely ask no questions regarding the shooter. The blame must be deflected to the gunstore, the NRA, preppers, and the Conservatives.

If a bad guy would have walked into that room with a semiautomatic pistol they would have all been dispatched in less than 3 seconds. If that had happened I bet all those libs would have wished they’d been holding. They could have recognized the threat, whipped out their concealed weapon, taken aim, and laid the guy low. Provided, of course, they could have done that in three seconds or less. One, two, three. They could have saved all their lives. Libs don’t get it.

      Yahsuarules…… I see you’ve been reading.

I would not want to place a bet, Yahsua, that any of those reporters have read the things you spoke of. I’m sure you have read of Wilhelm Wundt. G. Stanley Hall studied under Wundt and brought back to America ways to emplement Wundt’s teachings.
Daniel Colt Gilman (the order) was president of J Hopkins Univ. He hired Hall and trained John Dewey, who had his hands in both Columbia and Univ of Chicago.
All these leftists and the schools of “learning” they were involved in were funded by the Rockefeller and Carnegie foundations.
Its all intertwined with the conspiracy to take us down.

Yahsuarules……One other thing I’ll mention that you may aware of:
Wilhelm Wundt was one who believed that anyone (but in this case Americans) could be trained like rats. The actual plan, according to Wundt and his disciples, was to train, not teach. Critical thinking was “verbotten.”

I’d have to say (after listening to those little twits in the above video), that Wundt was absolutely right.

Had the school not been declared a “gun free zone”, this may have never happened.

Notice that it was reported that when Adam Lanza knew the cops were closing in on him (they had semi auto wapons) he then shot himself.

He like most of these mass murders do not go for a fight, they go looking for an unarmed victim. Had a employee of the school, had a weapon on school grounds, grabbed it, and moved to the sound of the shooting it is very plausable that they could have stopped him before he started his execution in that class room.

Your quick draw scenario is bogus, and no one is fooled by your stupid sarcastic comments.

This is the generation of indulged idealists who actually believe that they became “journalists” in order to CHANGE THE WORLD, instead of writing objectively by stating FACTS and backing up those facts with reliable sources without interjecting your own opinion. The American media should feel the heat and learn we’re WISE to them. We can turn it off the news. Change the channel. Not purchase from particular advertisers who buy time on statist media. Or cancel subscriptions. The NRA at least came up with a plan. Liberals don’t think a plan is viable if it doesn’t include all their wants and desires. If Americans are stripped of the Second Amendment, no one will be able to defend the others because we will have been disarmed by the liberal mind and hand.
The liberal mind is a weak one.
      Liberalism is a mental disorder.

They don’t care. It’s all part of liberal moral relativism…the means justifies the ends. Objective journalism is dead in this country. They are winning this war and they will keep on winning until we’re serious about pushing back at them. The conservative message is poisoned before it reaches the public’s ears because of these b@stards and the lefties in our schools. It’s time to fight back on all those fronts or we’re not going to win this.

I just watched Obama demagogue congress and pander to the voter. Not a peep from the liberal press corps questioning his part in the stalemate in Washington. He threw a “deal” at the House where he wanted $50billion in new stimulus, nearly $2 trillion in new taxes on “the rich” and he wanted congress to relinquish the power over the debt ceiling to him…yes indeed the heroin addict wanted control over how much heroin he can have. I agree it wasn’t the NRA’s fault. But if shooters won’t go where they believe somebody is armed, why all the body armor? They are not afraid of dying. Suicide, or shot by police, they are not trying to get away. Body armor buys them 15 minutes to do what their anger, ignorance or illness compels them to do, then they check out. Trained, armed personnel may stop them, but I don’t believe it will dissuade them any more than firearms scare off guys walking into Beirut coffee houses with bombs strapped to their chests. An enemy with nothing left to lose is a different animal entirely. That’s the part of the puzzle nobody seems to talk about, and that part is way more dangerous than any firearm.

Yes, the press are no longer “reporters.” They should now be called “advocates” or, in the case of those who applaud obstructing the faces and free speech of those with whom they disagree, “information suppressors.”

@quiltgal – I agree with you and will go one further…in my opinion, most of the reporters you see in the news, especially local news, never intended to be reporters, they wanted to be actors and didn’t have the talent. Watch them sometimes and you see their pathetic attempts at sounding and looking credible. They have two goals; get noticed and get to a bigger market. They accomplish both by getting the big story or stories. Whatever they need to do to accomplish this they will do, including lie, embellish and mislead. Their excuse?…”it doesn’t have to be true, just it accurate.” Half of the story maybe all thy need to get your attention, and the truth or whole story is not important, only the accuracy. So if what they have reported is accurate they’re good, if you really want the whole story then it is up to you to seek it out. That is not their focus or objective. The old adage “If it bleeds, it leads” is true and the more lurid the better. If there is no controversy they will create it. They seldom get called on any errors and if they do, the correction or retraction is frequently under-reported or minimal at best. We haven’t had journalists since before Walter Cronkite and he sold his soul when he lost his objectivity while reporting the Tet Offensive in 1968. Everyone wants to be Geraldo. No one wants to be Edward R. Morrow or Eric Sevareid.

True that – these screaming loons would not have any issue if those poor little angels had been murdered before they exited their mothers’ wombs.

So how is it that the “mother” has a right to murder her baby in utero but Adam Lanza doesn’t get to exercise his right to choose who lives and who dies?

Neither leftist, abotionist or Adam Lanza has the right to deprive another of the right to life – our first right – the Declaration says all men are CREATED equal – not born equal, not breathe equal, not live equal – but CREATED – even the founders knew that life began at conception

You got that right. Not one of these protestors would hold up a sign against abortion, but they don’t mind wanting the rest of us to be left at the mercy of sick thugs who have unlicensed guns. Don’t even argue with me about this, I would never knowingly go to a mall or store that didn’t allow a legal gun owner to be there. I want good people with a gun to be around everywhere I go.

    (A) The number of physicians in the U.S. is 700,000.

    (B) Accidental deaths caused by Physicians
    per year are
    120,000.
    (C) Accidental deaths per physician is
    0.171

Statistics courtesy of U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services.

    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

    Now think about this:
    Guns

    (A) The number of gun owners in the U.S.is 80,000,000.

    (Yes, that’s 80 million)

    (B) The number of accidental gun deaths per year, all age groups, is 1,500.

    (C) The number of accidental deaths per gun owner is .0000188

    Statistics courtesy of FBI

    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

So, statistically, doctors are approximately 9,000 times more dangerous than gun owners.

    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Remember, ‘Guns don’t kill people, doctors do.’

    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

FACT: NOT EVERYONE HAS A GUN, BUT
Almost everyone has at least one doctor.
This means you are over 9,000 times more likely to be killed by a doctor as by a gun owner!!!

    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Please alert your friends to this alarming threat.

We must ban doctors before this gets completely out of hand!!!!!

    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Out of concern for the public at large, We withheld the statistics on lawyers

Great statistics, but where’s the data on killings? You compared accidental gun deaths to accidental deaths by a doctor, and that’s fine. But to make a better argument, everyone is ticked at killings with a gun. Any stats on that?

ENCINOM, It does not necessarily take a gun to do what Adam Lanza did. The two largest loss of life attacks on schools in this country were not perpetrated with a single gun. There are truly crazy and/or criminally insane and evil people out there who will kill. Something is just WRONG with some people. What makes you think that you or anybody else can live in a world where no malice can possibly occur. You are as foolish as the idiots who stroll around in public texting to the point they fall into fountains, or on the stairs. At this time there is no such thing as an evil free world.

sorry journalazi, but they correctly pointed out that some unstable folks… you know, the sort that will kill to get their name immortalize, are encouraged to act by the wall to wall over the top coverage by the ’24 hour news cycle.’ Not that there is reporting of real news, journalazi, just spin and sensation to whip up emotion in whatever direction you feel is ‘right.’

It is correct that impressionable, susceptible people at the fringes of our society can be influenced by television programming and movies and videogames… witness the people who are ‘sick’ for a week when a game comes out, or who stood outside the Michael Jackson trial weeping and begging for his salvation.

And it is correct that the existence of ‘assault rifles’… modern sporting rifles, does provide a tool that can be used to devastating effect. Sadly, they are necessary given the similar weapons wielded by bad guys both beyond and within our borders. And they are CONSTITUTIONALLY PROTECTED as a tool to remind the government it is subject to the people, rather than the other way around.

Last I checked, the shooter (why list his name… he craved the notoriety) was not an NRA member, much less a delegate or employee. when you are so obtuse to claim NRA is ‘responsible’ you have stepped so far beyond collecting the facts and reporting you’re no longer a journalazi… you’re a press representative for the Left… and the Left has some responsibility in the constant push to blame o
