WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama has nominated Sen. John Kerry as his next secretary of state, saying Kerry’s entire life “has prepared him for this role.”

If confirmed, the Massachusetts Democrat would succeed Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton in Obama’s second-term Cabinet.

Clinton did not attend the Roosevelt Room announcement. She’s recovering from a concussion sustained in a fall.

Obama said Kerry’s political career and service has established him as a respected American voice around the globe. Obama said Kerry will not need on-the-job training.

Kerry has served as chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and is a decorated Vietnam veteran who was critical of the war effort when he returned home to the U.S.

He has represented Massachusetts in the Senate since 1985.

Of course I would expect nothing less from Obama… this man lied before a senate sub committee on atrocities in Vietnam. He will make a good compliment to the lier and chief. I also believe he shot himself to get out of Vietnam there fore wonderful a peace nut as Secretary of State assigned by the lier and chief . kind of makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Not to mention that his wife has a mouth like a teamster.

a man whose military honors were obtained in a dubious manner…
who spent a fraction of the time ‘in country’ of most of his fellow soldiers…
who came back and threw ALL of his fellow soldiers under the proverbial bus for his own advancement…
who staged an apparently phony ‘medal throwback’ to garner support…
who proudly ‘voted against the bill before i voted for the bill’

yes, this man won’t let his own goals and well being supplant his job… won’t be malleable and susceptible to influence.

he’s the perfect choice, you really cannot be surprised.

It just gets deeper all the time. One good thing is that Obama can’t nominate Biden, I think he’d be the one person worse than Kerry. Oh well, why does any of this surprise anyone, it’s obvious that the weaker we are on the national stage the better. If Obama was really smart, he would have nominated Allen West.
