WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama has nominated Sen. John Kerry as his next secretary of state, saying Kerry’s entire life “has prepared him for this role.”

If confirmed, the Massachusetts Democrat would succeed Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton in Obama’s second-term Cabinet.

Clinton did not attend the Roosevelt Room announcement. She’s recovering from a concussion sustained in a fall.

Obama said Kerry’s political career and service has established him as a respected American voice around the globe. Obama said Kerry will not need on-the-job training.

Kerry has served as chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and is a decorated Vietnam veteran who was critical of the war effort when he returned home to the U.S.

He has represented Massachusetts in the Senate since 1985.

IF obummer were to REALLY BE WILLING TO CROSS THE AISLE AND WORK WITH THE REPUBLICANS then he shoud have nominated a true war hero and military man COL. ALLEN WEST he would be a much better choice, more inteligent, more reliable,DEFINITELY MORE HONEST. KERRYis an INSULT TO AMERICA AND HE HATES iSRAEL! Can`t have hateful people in that position!

This is a fitting choice for Obummer and crew with their tactics of obfuscation and deceit. As disabled Vietnam vet, I am well aware of the despicable conduct of Kerry toward our servicemen and women in accusing them of criminal misconduct. It started with the disparaging of Vietnam vets and continued with the vets of recent wars in Iraqi and Afghanistan. This guy earned the opprobrium of most Americans with part that he played in Swift Boat saga.

America’s enemies should be well represented by this nomination. They wholeheatedly endorse Kerry for our Secretary of State. Iran, China, Russia, and North Korea all endorse the nomination with gusto!

Just one question: Will Kerry’s service be as short-lived as his war service was, in which he demanded awards and release from service following a scratch or two on the cheek, so that he could pursue his political career? If so, the Obama better start the search for the NEXT Secretary of States right now, because they’ll need the next one by the time Obama takes his 2nd oath of office!

The POTUS had to pay his debt to Kerry for coaching him the debates.. I am surprised given the drubbing he took from Mr. Romney that Mr. Kerry would be appointed national dog catcher !

After all he paid Mrs. Clinton off, making her Cheese of the State Department and her enormous campaign debt so She And Billy Bob would not criticize his administration.
So payola and favors are what this president does to keep his friends happy. What a great guy.

Trading one moron for another, that should really help our foreign policy get out of the muck it’s been the past four years. Running around the world sucking up to our enemies while stepping on our allies is really intelligent. Of course that’s what Glorious Leader wants.

I’m sure that Lurch will be a great replacement for Hillarious, and equally incompetent which is what is wanted apparently.
