‘Real News’ Crew Asks: WWJD on the Fiscal Cliff?
Speaker of the House John Boehner’s “Plan B” solution to avoid the Fiscal Cliff, which the president and Senate Democrats refused to consider, fell apart with Republicans in Congress last night despite earlier signals that it would pass in the House. Now with no deal on the horizon, Congress has decided to head home for the holidays still with no plan for the Fiscal Cliff.
Despite being one of the only major players in all this to come out strongly behind a plan of compromise, Boehner is suffering a crushing blow as the media has focused on Republican votes pulling away from the Speaker on Plan B (after it was clear that the proposal would not be discussed in Senate).
Before all the cards crumbled, last night during a sudden gathering of the House GOP caucus, the Speaker, who is a devout Catholic, reportedly said the serenity prayer as a last hope to get Republicans in line behind is plan–“God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.”
Since it doesn’t look like at this point that any plan will get through before January 1, or at least Christmas, it may be a time for hypotheticals. Considering Boehner’s prayer, the “Real News” team debated Friday what exactly would God do on the Fiscal Cliff? The Pope may have given his thoughts on an answer for this question in an editorial for the Financial Times yesterday.
“Render unto Caesar what belongs to Caesar and to God what belongs to God,” was the response of Jesus when asked about paying taxes. His questioners, of course, were laying a trap for him. They wanted to force him to take sides in the highly charged political debate about Roman rule in the land of Israel. Yet there was more at stake here: if Jesus really was the long-awaited Messiah, then surely he would oppose the Roman overlords. So the question was calculated to expose him either as a threat to the regime, or as a fraud.

His kingdom that will come will do away with all human governments and will not be passed to any other people. (Daniel 2:44) After the thousand year rule Satan will be let loose for a short time. (Revelation 20:6,7) For he must rule as king until God has put all enemies under his feet. As the last enemy, death is to be brought to nothing.(1 Corinthians 15:25,26)
1 Corinthians 15:24 Next, the end, when he hands over the kingdom to his God and Father………………..

Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.
2 Thessalonians 1:7-9 (KJV)
And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,
In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:
Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;
Don’t trust the things in the world, Put your trust in the LORD, it is he that will deliver his people.
They can take everything and leave me with nothing, yet my soul belongs to the LORD. When terrible times and strife come upon you (and it will), praise and not curse God; for he has a way out and his mercy is great to those who believe and trust him. Fight not for your own life, but out of love for those around you. You should arm yourself for this cause only and be not afraid to lose your own life. Give to those who ask; even those who demand through law of an oppressive government. If threat to life is apparent or suspected by reason of actions, execute lethal force to bring it to end. This is what I see as biblical doctrine in self defense or defense of others. If I am wrong may God be my judge.
