Cornel West on Conn. Massacre: People Only Talk About Gun Control When White People Get Shot

Liberal activist and author Cornel West during a Saturday broadcast of the Smiley & West Show said he is happy that the U.S. is having a discussion on gun control, but that he is dismayed that it is only happening because white children were shot.

“We can’t just shed tears for those on the vanilla side of town,” West said, “they are precious, but they are no less or more precious than our poor brothers and sisters on Indian reservations (who are killing each other) or be they black or brown or what have you.”

“But it’s a good thing that we now have a discussion on gun control. We need one on drone control,” he continued, “not a peep, not a mumbling word when black folk get shot. But now, Newtown, Connecticut, vanilla side — low and behold we got a major conversation. That’s wonderful. Each life is precious but it just upsets me when we’re so deferential.”

West went so far as to even accuse the president of being “cowardly” for being silent on the violence committed among and against African-Americans.

  Sadly, what he said was true. Their instinct is tribalism. The most advanced African nation(Kenya) are still slaughtering each other with machete’s because they are Christians or not in their tribe. It’s worse elsewhere. They are full on jihadist parasites. The best they’ve had to offer the planet is living a nomadic life and hunting for food. I wish it wasn’t the case, but it is. And PS- Egyptians weren’t black, just in case you wanted to go there.

  Actually, I’m not too sure sure what to make of SEMIHARD’s comments, nor his user name, which is frankly TMI for me.
  
  In any case, there is a reality here. It’s too soon to talk politics about this tragedy. It’s disrespectful to the dead kids. Any talk about gun control is simply politicization of this tragic event. Same for the Virginia Tech shooting, same for Columbine, same for the Norway shooting and so on. Whenever a mass murder occurs, that simply isn’t the time to talk about gun control because feelings are running high at a time when the common sense of the NRA should prevail.
  
  Every single day since the massacre at this school, 35 Americans have been shot dead, mostly by handguns. And if averages hold, more people will be killed every single day in the US, than were killed in this school in a couple of minutes. So why the outrage? We need perspective.

  That said, Cornell is kind of right if you get rid of politics. Black children are dying by the load, many times being aborted, but also by black on black violence. Who cares here, or anywhere? These children go out without herald, notice or care to the population at large. I don’t think any child’s murder should be minimized, race is immaterial, no child chooses who he or she is, nor chooses to be murdered.
  
  It all comes back to culture. The Left has constructed a culture that is designed, clearly by intent, to both enslave and wipe out minorities, all the while pretending to be for them. It’s the ultimate mind-**** against a whole lot of people. We all should join in calling them out on their eugenics and racial hatred.

Of the 600+ Pharaohs over the 5000 year history of Ancient Egypt, 95 percent were Black or mixed(afro asiatic). Just google the images of the Pharaohs themselves. The movies and History channel is the only place where the pyramid building Pharaohs are white.   Cornball West will not tell you taht blacks make up 12.5% of the population, and do half the nations murders.
  
  If we lowered black murder rates to the same as whites, we would lower the nations murder rates by almost 40%
  
  Most of those murdered by blacks, are other blacks. By lowering there murder rates, we wold save a whole lot of black lives
  
  We do know that libs are not concerned with black on black violence. Lowering it, does not help their agenda.

And by 15 min later people don’t even care about the victims of this violence… But at the same time the media goes in a frenzy not over that white kids, but because of the age of the kids…

  Then goes on to concur with West. How many babies are murdered each year in this country? How many are black babies? Perhaps those trying to stop abortion have not been doing enough? Or is it the politicians who’vfe not been doing enough to curb that violence agsint our children?
  
  There hasn’t been one person elected who’s done more than paid lip-service to the unborn, yet they keep talking how they want to save lives of children and then remove more of our freedoms with more gun control laws. Meanwhile, the babies- mostly black is my understanding- are murdered each day than all the school shootings the last fifty years.
  
  But the lib democrats are all about the rights of the children and keeping them safe. Yah, right- and the sun is an ice cube on steroids.

  While commiting crimes, like bad drug deals. West conveniently leaves that out.
  20-25 years ago, in Charlotte, there was a killing every night. They’d post the killer’s mug shot, then they’d show another, old, mug shot of the victim. Both black, like you said. Then the state started passing tougher punishment for these criminals and locked them up. Now, we’re lucky to get more than 2 killings a week. They’re still black criminals, just like they were back then.

  Most peoples first reaction is to move out of neighborhoods, cities, towns, or where shootings occur on a daily basis. We go to where people support the enforcement of law and order. We refuse to elect people who won’t be tough on crime. We want answers when a shooting occurs. We are truly saddened to hear of the crime and gang violence in all our cities. We want more cops w/better pay and the best equipment for the peoples sake, but the citizens of the city need to elect people who will provide and fund protection.
  
  Problem is the criminals are breaking the first law of “legally obtained guns” way before they decide to shoot people. The whining, complaining and push for laws is for the legally obtained weapons which are being used in mass shootings. Unfortunately, when a criminal shoots another criminal most people think, “well, good one less to prosecute and support for the rest of their lives.” Just like when a mass murder commits suicide or better yet when a cop or legally armed citizen shoots the killer; we are glad. And truthfully with the revolving jailhouse door of injustice, it has nothing to do with color; it is about hideous, violence and crime making the USA unsafe for families to be outside or go to public places. Law abiding citizens are tired of innocent people being gunned down, which is why the stores/internet are out of stock in guns and ammunition.

The sad thing is that you have to wonder how much of the black population is this racist?
Where is the black outrage to this obvious callous, racist comment?

Now this debate will go from that evil gun to why no one is doing more to stop black people from killing each other all day long.

To answer Cornel west question, it’s terrible when any group of people (especially children) are senselessly murdered.

This Connecticut communitie seem to express a sense of value for life and family and would naturally be a little more horrified then someone coming out of community’s that express little sense of value for themselves or each other.

  Cornel West is actually one of the more critical and logical of the liberals. To a certain extent, he is correct about people ignoring crime in cities but wrong about it being just about blacks. Doesn’t matter the color it is high crime due to turf wars for drugs, prostitution, extortion, business protection payoffs….. Groups of various colors fighting each other, which is actually fairer than a nut job shooting 1st graders. Problem is city crime burnout. And NO WILL in the legeslative branches at city, state, and federal levels to truly help inner city crime. Plus, the citizens of cities tend to elect the liberal, permissives except for Maricopa county (Phoenix…Joe) The worst crime is where citizens aren’t allowed to be armed and the criminals know it.

If I recall there were children of many races and religions murdered. Cornel West is a typical blame the white guy bigot and racist. Why do I not hear him talk about the killing of thousands of black children by other black children or abortion. Why is he not out there talking about black on black crime? Why is he not out promoting families and marriage when single mothers and abortion are common place in the black communities. Why is he not out there promoting success in his community rather than the prevalent thought of “Success= Sellout”?

A big fat middle finger to you cornel west. Time to step up, look in the mirror and stop blaming others or white people for the disintegration of the black family and culture. Time to look within. You also might want to look at the Democratic party, the new plantation owner while you are playing the blame game. Unfortunately democrats will never be blamed as he is a member of the Democratic Socialist of America.

Stop giving this man a venue to spew his racist bigoted rhetoric. And better yet, any donors to his employer, Princeton, need to withhold their contributions until he is gone. People need to call Princeton and express their outrage over his comments and philosophy.

  it is true that gun violence is much more common in minority neighborhoods and such – the color of the killers is irrelevant because our society accepts it as common occurrence. But the war on drugs hits the minorities like a ton of bricks – and our society does not care because white folks are unaffected by the war on drugs (even though they are users). These inconsistencies are at the heart of what cornel west is talking about but the truth is somewhere in the middle

Mr. West. Why are you not up in arms when hundreds of “your people” are murdered by “your people”? Yes, some “white” kids were murdered, by a white “man”. Shouldn’t you be happy that the whites are killing other whites? I don’t give a crap what color a murdered person is. What I care about is people like you who use your race to propagate any murder of any person. You don’t care that white children were murdered. You’re just using this tragedy to further you own agenda. You are no better than the azz who murdered the children in CT or the azzes who murder children of color or religion for their own agenda. If you cannot throw away the race card and band together with others who hate the violence, then you are no better than the killer(s) of ANY child (or human being).   Nice comment. You may want to do some research before either saying that this man does not get up in arms over blacks dying because if you researched a bit you would know that he speaks of it all of the time. Secondly comparing him to the shooter is disgusting. I could say the same thing about a whole host of conservatives but i dont because they are not comparable to the shooter. Killing children is a little more intense than giving an opinion you dont agree with. Get a life and try looking somewhere other than the blaze for all of your news.

Many gun owners & conservative s have brought up that in Chicago that as many kids die there every every month as died at Sandy Hook.

Cornell West just lives cloistered in academia praying to the Liberal Gods. So he didn’t hear about any of that. Mr. West did not hear about the black citizen who used a gun to defend his home, who didn’t go to jail because Rahm Emanuel liberal mayor of Chicago dare not touch him due to bad press from gun owners & conservatives.

As far as ‘Charles..’ is concerned regarding his/her comments, I wouldn’t be all that concerned if I were you. ‘Charles’ feelings were probably hurt, because you didn’t refer to West by his Americanized name ‘Leroy’. Leroy may have a point though. Maybe the media should call for disarming blacks of their guns, knives, and even themselves because they kill one another at an alarming rate. In a sense he is right. But I don’t actually know the race of the kids who were killed in CT, nor to I care. They could be black for all I know. That doesn’t change my perspective. I think it WOULD change West’s perspective. Which is sickening.

Since the conn. shooting was another govt. false flag, why bother with all the hoo-doo.
Most of the victims were shot wit 223 ammunition, the lanz kids 223 was still in the
back of his car, all he had was two handguns. The 223s were fired by one man who
students heard get arrested inside the building and one man in camo and black
outside the building. Since no more was heard about these men I have to assume
they were CIA or FBI and the police had to let them go. I am sick and tired of the govt.
pulling this kind B.S. just to further their agenda, in this case gun control. The govt.
will continue to kill in large numbers until guns are confiscated or a war is started.
The govt. has no remorse about killing children or anyone else.
