A stray dog stood guard over the body for his dead canine companion after she was hit and killed by a car in China, the Daily Mail reported.
Photos show the stray licking and nuzzling his pal’s face, then apparently remaining by her side in the middle of the road when she wouldn’t get up.
Xiao Wu, a local butcher, said he’d recently taken to feeding the dogs and would see them playing together.
“He stayed beside her the whole day, keeping licking her and pushing her, trying to wake her up. It’s very touching,” he said.

Dec. 23, 2012 at 1:18amVery sad story, my dog can’t walk any more, he is only 6. I have made the decision not to put him down, I figure they don’t put disabled people down so I will not impose this on him. I will give him lots of love and understanding, I will talk to him, I will joke around with him he wiggle waggles his tail so I know he is happy. I will save every penny to buy him a cart so he might once again go for walks like we used to do, and he loved them so much. I will not spend a dime at christmas even though 400 dollars might not seem a lot to some but to me it’s everything and will take months to save. He is worth every penny and love that comes from me. I will let him pass a normal goodbye when the time comes he will let me know.

Dec. 23, 2012 at 8:24amBrother, I hear you. Check the net for sites that might offer some home-built plans. Or, maybe your local vet might know of a cart previously used by another dog and owner. My dog has been my best friend and companion for almost thirteen years and I dread losing her.

Dec. 23, 2012 at 11:56amDealer, living in this gray, vicious dark forest, we call “the world,” a little softness, kindness, sunshine, is good. Dogs are definitely the most loyal pet; they deserve our love.
Thank you, TheBlaze news. Please don’t stop remind us of the true selfless loyalty, which still exists some where in the world.

Dec. 22, 2012 at 9:18pmSorry for the loss of your friend. I found a short essay written by Eugene ONeill, “The Last Will and Testament of an Extremely Distinguished Dog”. If you can find a copy it puts things into perspective. A short quote “Whenever you visit my grave, say to yourselves with regret but also with happiness in your hearts at the remembrance of my long, happy life with you:” Here lies one who loved us and whom we loved,”No matter how deep my sleep I shall hear you, and not all the power of death can keep my spirit from wagging a grateful tail.

Dec. 22, 2012 at 6:55pmOh Gonzo. I am so sorry to hear that. I have had to do that with some of my dog and cat friends in the past too. It hurts so much.
My old girl is very sick with a nasal tumor. I know the time will be coming soon to do the same with her and one of my cats is almost 19y/o. Every day she lives is just a blessing.
Again, so sorry.

Dec. 23, 2012 at 7:53amMOMRULES, I avoided this story yesterday because it hurts so much to be reminded of the loss of pets. Now that I finally made it here, its to find that GONZO has had the misfortune to loose a beloved pet. We also have a cat who will be nineteen this summer. Attila has mostly lazy days of sleeping on or near a favorite footstool. But he can still get in the floor with a golf ball, or a dropped bottle cat and become that same kitten we knew in ’94. Since he was born a little more than a week after my now 22 year old son turned four, he hardly a memory of time without this cat being around.
Merry Christmas MOM.

Dec. 22, 2012 at 3:16pmDOG spelled backwards is GOD. A loyal dog is more then your best friend, he’s your soul mate. There are more loyal canines then loyal people. You get shot, or die on the street and nine times out of ten, people won’t stop and help you. They walk right on by you. Now is the time to buy a dog and a gun! Crime is growing at a dangerous rate. Police, mayors, leading organizers, even our President doesn’t want to admit crime is growing. Who can you trust?. YOUR DOG! YOUR GUN, AND YOURSELF. Don’t wait until the police get to you, as they have too much to handle.

Dec. 23, 2012 at 9:24pmLast year there was a viral video where multiple people left a baby girl who had been hit by a car/truck in the street, another car ran over her again well after she was initially struck down. Life means little in China be it either the canine or human.

Dec. 22, 2012 at 3:24pmI disagree to some extent. You say communism causes people to give up humanity, I think it’s the other way around. A dehumanized society will always gravitate toward a Marxist collective salvation because there is no hope in individual salvation when moral individuals are few and far between.
As the US has in large margin moved away from instilling themselves on honor, ethics, morals, and courage we have turned to a central government to instill more authority over what we can and can’t do. One day we will be a fascist commune.

Dec. 22, 2012 at 12:25pmThere must be something wrong with me because I cannot just drive by when I see things like this.
I stop for turtles, dogs, cats and most any animal hurt or stuck in the road with dangerous traffic driving by. Even with no traffic I stop to help a turtle crossing the road.
I’ve never seen a person hit by a car. I don’t know what I could do but I know I’d stop to help.

Dec. 22, 2012 at 1:31pmHi Momrules,
The last time something like this happened to me was on Treasure Island. A white cat ran into the road and was ran over. The pickup truck stopped and then drove off. I got out and went over to the cat that was flailing wildly in the street. I put my hands on it and it stopped flailing and looked at me right in the my eyes. It knew it was going to die and started purring. It knew it wasn’t alone and that calmed it for some reason. There was nothing to be done because the injuries were critical. We looked at each other until it died. It’s last breath was a purr. That cat’s Spirit is still within me today.
