Texas Homeowner Catches Deliveryman Stealing iPad Mini From His Doorstep — on Camera!

Texas Homeowner Catches Deliveryman Stealing iPad Mini From His Doorstep on Camera!

KHOU-TV

Al Alverson and his wife had been expecting two packages to be delivered Wednesday. When they got home, just one of them was there.

That was strange, because the Alversons had received an emailed confirmation from Federal Express that the other package, an iPad Mini for their daughter for Christmas, had been dropped off that morning.

The Houston, Texas homeowner turned to the porch camera he installed three years ago and reviewed the day’s recording. Sure enough, there was FedEx delivering the iPad at 9:29 a.m. But several hours later, there was something else: A UPS deliveryman dropped off the family’s other package — and then returned and took the iPad.

“I said, ‘Oh my God,’ it’s the UPS guy,” Alverson told KHOU-TV.

Wearing that familiar brown uniform, the recording shows the deliveryman drop off his package, ring the doorbell and leave. But a few minutes later, he returns, picking up the other package on the porch and making off with it.

Alverson said he contacted UPS but felt he wasn’t getting a straight answer. He posted the footage on YouTube and called KHOU.

UPS told the station they were able to identify the employee — a seasonal worker hired just for the holidays — from Alverson’s recording and that he was fired and arrested Thursday.

As for the Alversons, UPS replaced the iPad. The family agreed not to press charges, according to KPRC-TV.

I’ll share he story about the “stolen suitcase”. Back in the day, my Father-in-Law was cop and end up becoming the Chief. On his patrol days as a grunt, they get a call one night in a rural area about something in somone’s garage. As they investgated the scene, they went into the detached garage and took a look see, well it was a young juvenile Bobcat. As the Chief & his partner were trying to figure out how to get this Bobcat out as it was backed into a corner and just wouldn’t run out. Back in those days they didn’t have animal control and it was 0230 in the am, so they found an old suitcase lying around and eased up on the cat with it open and luckily was able to trap it and close it into the suitcase. The Bobcat was NOT happy.

When they told the lady that it had been a Bobcat and that they had it in the suitcase she was relieved and told them not to worry about that old suitcase. Well Chief and his partner got to thinking, instead of releasing it into the woods, they deciced to set it down by the tracks by the black neighborhood and see if it gets lifted…..They backed up in the bushes and sure enough an old 57 Chevy pulled up carrying some brothers and yes, they stopped and grabbbed the case, pulled it inside and they rest is history.

The Chief said he never laughed so hard in his entire life at the out come. Those guys came bailing out of that car like greased lightning, lol. & the Bobcat was right behind them, lmao!!

      RIP Chief & Semper Fi

I’m calling BS on this story. I don’t believe for a second he was a seasonal worker. They don’t hire seasonal workers to drive delivery trucks. I know guys that work there and sometimes they wait for years to get a truck and route. I avoid UPS like the plague whenever I can. Not that FedEx is great but I’ve never had a real problem with them.

The Alversons are part of the problem. By not pressing charges, they have basically enabled this +urd to continue stealing from people. As long as there is no punishment, the crime will continue. The best goodwill the Alversons could have given their fellow men would have been to have this POS prosecuted to the maximum. But at least they feel good about themselves.

Not surprised. UNION UPS. Although FEDEX is not supposed to leave a package there, unless they sign a waiver saying it is OK to leave it. May be what he did.
A UPS guy RUINED my life, because he wasn’t watching where he was driving. He was looking at his next address on his electronic clip board and drifted across the yellow line, according to the witness on the side of the road. I don’t remember any of it, which is probably a good thing, as I had bones sticking out of my arm. They had to cut me out and air-care me to the hospital. Now, I can no longer run, heck, I cannot even stand on my toes. I have to wear braces on both legs. Physical problems, memory problems, ruined my life.

The judge did everything in UPS’s favor. Unbelievable UPS Union goon tactics. This was a preview to the Obama Administration.

If it were a White guy they probably would have told him to keep it, then invite him over for dinner and beers while they make Black jokes in the back yard and talk about how Obama’s policies are pretty good, but how they can’t support him because of his skin color. And then they would have a good laugh.

And yes, for those without any sense, this is a joke.

He obviously stole it because the teacher that would have taught him better was laid off by Republicans after her house burned down (because Republicans hate firefighters).

Many “victims” in our society believe they don’t have to follow the rules. They are taught as children that it’s OK to break the law because they are owed something or whatever. If you are taught that stealing is OK, then you will steal. Another reason liberals hate the ten commandments–they don’t fit in with their “victim” agenda.

Several years ago I had placed an order for some hobby related items, and not cheap either. Tracked the package via the UPS site and it was not on my porch the day they said it was delivered. The day after I called the local office I found an orange sticker on my door saying that the package had been delivered. The items that I ordered were more or less one of a kind and I eventually got a refund when UPS finally paid their insurance claim.

UPS must follow the “law” to protect themselves from being sued by this “seasonal worker” who would scream “discrimination” of being falsely accused if UPS does not have the proper evidence to fire and prosecute this thief.

If the homeowners did not have this video footage, there would be NOTHING that could be done to this thief and his little Christmas crime spree would still be going on right now!

What worries me the most is learning that UPS hires people like this to work for them as “temporary” workers who are nothing but common thieves.

Wonder if our bankrupt U.S. Postal Service does the same thing?

I’ve had good luck with every UPS delivery in my area since I have lived here (over 7 years). I think all organizations have the same potential for problems when the randomly hire holiday workers. They should be screened just like regular employees. Background checks are becoming essential for just about everything nowadays. Nobody can be trusted. Heck, they didn’t even do a background check on the president in 2008! And when they did..nobody listened. So look who’s been robbed!

A good word here for my UPS delivery people who do a good job and should not be judged by one person with criminal intent. However there are organized gangs that follow the trucks and snatch packages off porches when the coast is clear. Be proactive and organize your neighborhood against theses thieves. Looking out for each other is one solution that works in my subdivision.

People who steal and think that they have gotten away with it never do. They will encounter instances in their lives when others steal from them. They reap what they sow.

Ship all your Holiday Packages FedEx. Fred Smth (Navy Vet / FedEx founder / CEO) and supporter of the Conservative and right side of America. Non-union (except for pilots because FedEx is considered an airline believe it or not).

Fred Smith once said he would break-up FedEx into a millions pieces before he would see it go union…

      Nice info!
Did not know that. I will agree with progrssive on Mr Smith.
As a company owner I have said the same thing. I would close my doors one day and open up under a new corp the next.

Not UPS !!!! Geez, those guys start out at over $40K (when they get a truck) with benefits here in Tampa. And that’s what I was told 8 years ago when a friend started.

One of the last bastions of trust was a UPS delivery.

Unless it was Ace Ventura making the delivery of course…..

I met a nice black man when I was trying to mail packages for Christmas. The post office wouldn’t take my check because it was out of town bank so I was trying to take them back to my car when this nice black gentleman came to my rescue and helped me with all those packages. Can’t lump any bunch of people into one basket so to speak. There are good and bad in every race, color or creed.

What can a brown shirt do for you?
Steal your stuff, get paid for it and protest when you wont give up your things.
Looks like a union educational video (How to increase your benefits).

However out of all fairness we have a pretty good UPS delivery guy for our company.

SLAYER. He’s just going through the “training” period from casual temp, to part / full time union thief…

UPS temps for the Christmas season are usually “runners” for the Part / full-time UNION driver who is chillin’ in the truck grading his protege with an “B”… or an “A” if he brings back two goodies that FedEx dropped off earlier and on time, lol.

You nailed it Bliss. He will lose his job (maybe) but won’t suffer the full legal consequences. I am sure the family feels they are doing the compassionate thing. I would be tempted to do the same, but without prosecution this guy evades the legal system and can continue his crap without a criminal record. He will be applying at FedEx or DHL next week…
