NBC’s David Gregory on Sunday held up a high-capacity magazine for ammunition on national television, a possible violation of Washington, D.C. gun law.
Gregory was asking National Rifle Association CEO Wayne LaPierre whether the NRA was willing to cede any ground on new gun legislation following the Dec. 14 elementary school shooting in Newtown, Conn.
“Here is a magazine for ammunition that carries 30 bullets,” Gregory said on “Meet the Press,” holding it up. “Now isn’t it possible that if we got rid of these, if we replaced them and said, ‘Well, you could only have a magazine that carries five bullets or ten bullets,’ isn’t it just possible that we could reduce the carnage in a situation like Newtown?”
As blog The Patriot Perspective pointed out, Gregory’s demonstration may itself have been a violation of existing D.C. gun law, where “Meet the Press” tapes.
“No person in the District shall possess, sell, or transfer any large capacity ammunition feeding device regardless of whether the device is attached to a firearm. A ‘large capacity ammunition feeding device’ means a magazine, belt, drum, feed strip, or similar device that has a capacity of, or that can be readily restored or converted to accept, more than 10 rounds of ammunition,” D.C. code states. Violations may include a $1,000 fine or imprisonment for up to a year.
A representative from NBC did not immediately return an emailed request for comment.

Dec. 26, 2012 at 7:31pmThis is crazy but I guess what is good for the goose is good for the gander. Politicians and the liberals always want to exempt themselves. I have to laugh when the New York mayor says the people don’t have a right to armed themselves but on either side of him are two armed bodyguards.

Dec. 25, 2012 at 4:21pmGregory just proved, despite himself, that gun control does not work. He managed too get his hands on an illegal magazine, despite the fact DC has some of the strongest anti gun laws in the country.
Should he be charged ? Absolutely ! After all, he and others in the so called media, have always pushed for aggressive prosecution of anyone who violates gun laws. Hang him !!!!!!!

Dec. 25, 2012 at 4:40amI really think Mr. Gregory should be tried, and if convicted, sentenced to one year. This would serve to illustrate the absurdity of our gun laws, which are designed specifically to punish the innocent and law abiding who make mistakes like he did.
The fact that a year in jail would bar him from voting is just icing on the cake.
it is also hilarious that after that rant on armed guards, it turns out he sends his kids to Sidwell Friends-the most heavily armed school probably in the world.
Finally, I would like to see a list of all of the crimes, misdemeanors and ordinance violations Adam Lanza committed that day. It is absolutely clear to me that all that we needed to stop him was a lot more laws, since the couple of hundred he broke that day stopped him so effectively. (sarcasm alert)
Liberals really do have no clue.
