Watch Obama Mention Himself 63 Times in Just 100 Seconds — at Someone’s Funeral

If President Obama’s detractors like to sling any charge at him, it is the charge of excessive self-regard. His speech at the funeral for the late Senator Daniel Inouye of Hawaii is now being used as a means to buttress that assessment, given that President Obama mentioned himself in said speech approximately 63 times. The video documenting this can be seen below, courtesy of the Daily Rushbo:

And the video of the full speech can be seen here:

The Weekly Standard reports on the context:

Speaking to the audience at the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C., Obama talked about his family and their vacations. “Now, even though my mother and grandparents took great pride that they had voted for him, I confess that I wasn’t paying much attention to the United States Senate at the age of four or five or six.  It wasn’t until I was 11 years old that I recall even learning what a U.S. senator was, or it registering, at least.  It was during my summer vacation with my family — my first trip to what those of us in Hawaii call the Mainland,” said Obama.

To be fair to Obama, having grown up in Hawaii, he would be in a position to talk about Inouye. Also, the speech is mostly an extended discussion of how Inouye himself was an inspiration to Obama, a fairly standard topic at a funeral:

Now, here I was, a young boy with a white mom, a black father, raised in Indonesia and Hawaii.  And I was beginning to sense how fitting into the world might not be as simple as it might seem.  And so to see this man, this senator, this powerful, accomplished person who wasn’t out of central casting when it came to what you’d think a senator might look like at the time, and the way he commanded the respect of an entire nation I think it hinted to me what might be possible in my own life.

Do you think this was a reasonable way to pay tribute to Inouye’s memory? Or was Obama just building up his own ego? Weigh in below.

In CONTROL, Glenn Beck presents a passionate, fact-based case for guns that reveals why gun control isn’t really about controlling guns at all; it’s about controlling us. Find out more HERE.

Just remember. When his time comes he’ll be the most brazen coward, clinging to his image of himself as the only savior of his petty unremarkable life. And other cowards will mourn him. Knowing their fate will be similarly distasteful.

A person talking about his own experiences says the word “I” a lot? So if someone talks about their own experiences as a way of sharing their experience with those of others that’s bad and arrogant?

I have an idea. Tomorrow, when you talk to your spouse, children or friends, and share experiences, never use the world “I” or talk about yourself. If you do, you’ll be like President Obama, and it will only go to show how hung up you are on yourself.

Clearly, you should never try to share an experience you’ve had in order to sympathize with one someone else has had. That’s arrogance. And if you are forced to by social convention, then refer to yourself in the third person.

      Recall, upon his own “coronation”-
this arrogant jackazz presented the Queen of England
with an ipod of all his “illusive” words.

      It’s ALL about him-
      EVEN at someone’s funeral.
He truly believes he’s the newfound Messiah,
as if history books will refer to his own self-professed grandiose.
That is why he inserts I, I, Me, Me, in every single statement & speech-
history will record all of this
and if he shines his own glory enough & often,
he believes somehow posterity will filter out all the crap & critique
and be forced to reconcile his “greatness” with his OWN words.

      What a cad-
      he’s such an embarrassing idiot.
If he believes this final term
is going to be a cakewalk for his sorry, socialist agenda,
he’d better lay off the fairytale & lace up the armor.

What a PUNK of a president-

      @SENDTHEMETEORS,

Relating humorous or emotional stories about how the deceased affected your life is SOP at funerals. We are meant to be comforted as we relate to what was said. However, Obama’s story started when he age two, then he went on to explain when he discovered what a Senator was, then he went on to describe how he himself went to Congress.

Obama was talking about Obama, and that’s not comforting but instructive. Inouye was merely the mantle piece, while Obama was the roaring flame in the center of the fireplace! Feel warmer now?

Inouye hasn’t been good for Hawaii. My wife and I have visited once or twice a year for 23 yrs. The crime has risen consistently, the over development/crowding is out of control, and the landscape has become littered with graffiti and broken glass and trash. Inouye has encouraged the very wealthy while shunning the locals. His gun policies are harsh, yet the gangs have them.

I, I, I, I, I, I, I, have witnessed the effects of his “leadership”. The locals have wanted succession from the U.S. for many years because of policies from people like Inouye.

You know what your problem is? You have a very limited ability to think for yourself, or at least you act like it. What’s important here – the words that were spoken or the word count of prepositions?

The man spoke of his shared experiences with the deceased in a way that demonstrated his reverence for the man, the lessons he learned from being fortunate to be around him, that he was a good man that will be missed.

You are a very small person to miss that.

I was very privileged to be able to attend Senator Inouye’s laying in state on Thursday evening. His coffin rested on the same catafalque that had once borne Abraham Lincoln. His head rested beneath the banner “E Pluribus Umum” on the Rotunda dome. There was a wreath of malle leaves on a stand at the head of the coffin. The flags were the American flag, the Army flag, the 442 flag and the pale blue background and the field of stars of the Medal of Honor flag. There were 40 or fifty people there, many of them Asians, many in tears. While I stood, several Members of the House came to pay their respects. A Representative in red suede heels crossed herself before leaving. The guard changed at the hour, a slow, solemn, nearly silent ceremony of clicking heels and the faintest of hand gestures. Daniel Inouye served his country in WWII and then he represented Hawaii from it’s admittance to the Union until his death last week. He was a great statesman and a man of principle. He believed in his country even when his country did not believe in him or his people. He were privileged to have him in our service. As a boy growing up in Hawaii, I can see why the President may have been inspired by his example. I know I was.

“He was a great statesman and a man of principle. He believed in his country even when his country did not believe in him or his people.”
Just who was it who did not believe in the Japanese-Americans as you stated? Why, I believe that it was none other than FRANKLIN DELANO ROOSEVELT. By his executive order he had just how many Japanese-Americans interned? Against their will, and with the lose of their property? After all, the Democrat Demi-God Roosevelt was the nation’s mentor, now wasn’t he? Maybe you can try to tell us that those internment camps were some Republican’s fault. That would be a nice try, since at that time they wanted to stay out of the war. Oh yeah, I guess you can call FDR and equal opportunity jailer since also interned many German-Americans, and Italian-Americans…..those other white people.

I hate to disappoint you, but it only Republican talking points, one of the half dozen or so that you’ve been taught to bleet. DESERTROSE1960, I was born only a very few years after FDR passed away. I grew up with many in my family always talking about him, and many of my family members voted for him, more than once. BTW, it was you who pointed out how Daniel Inouye was less that appreciated by the American people. There were far more of the American people at the time who were Democrats, and they gladly followed and emulated their hero, FDR. Funny how you want to see the Democrats as the constant heroes and yes, even as I joked above how you would rather blame the Republicans, you did find a way to attempt that. Just keep trying to be like Moochelle and change your history to fit your current agenda. People like you refuse to face the fact that it was the Dems who started the likes of the KKK, or how LBJ stopped the vote in the senate during the Eisenhower admin regarding civil rights. When it favored him, as president it went through. The Congress was Democrat run in the fifties as well as the sixties. Why could it not have passed the senate in the fifties? Because the sitting president had an R next to his name, that’s why. Who is “mouthing” what?
Otherwise your description of Inouye lying in State was poignant. That is until you tried to stick it to us for being racist. You need to look into that Democrat mirror, because it includes mostly your side.

If I get this right, he is saying that HE was the most notable thing Inouye did.
This is not the first time for Mr. Obama….did the same thing with Rosa Parks, he gave the Queen of England tapes of HIS speeches.

He is what the Founders referred to as “an elite”….one who thinks THEY are a cut above the rest

Daniel Webster – “Good intentions will always be pleaded for every assumption of power … it is hardly too strong to say that the Constitution was made to guard the people against the dangers of good intentions. There are men in all ages who mean to govern well, but they mean to govern. They promise to be good masters, but they mean to be masters.”

Re: Via Dolor, and hence, should lead by force if necessary—they are that important in their own minds.

Its an age old problem…and the Constitution is our protection. We should consider that long and hard.

Thanks Gyro and Double the wagons.
      Consider these ,from Thomas Jefferson:

“Where the principle of difference [between political parties] is as substantial and as strongly pronounced as between the republicans and the monocrats of our country, I hold it as honorable to take a firm and decided part and as immoral to pursue a middle line, as between the parties of honest men and rogues, into which every country is divided.” ~Thomas Jefferson to William Branch Giles, 1795. ME 9:317
“That each party endeavors to get into the administration of the government and exclude the other from power is true, and may be stated as a motive of action: but this is only secondary; the primary motive being a real and radical difference of political principle. I sincerely wish our differences were but personally who should govern, and that the principles of our Constitution were those of both parties. Unfortunately, it is otherwise; and the question of preference between monarchy and republicanism, which has so long divided mankind elsewhere, threatens a permanent division here.” ~Thomas Jefferson to John Melish, 1813. ME 13:208

      God bless

I’ve been reading these posts, and I have to say, when you speak at someone’s funeral, you are supposed to be speaking about THEM. Saying I a couple of times is not bad, but 63 times? I was born the year he took office, 1963. I didn’t know he was a war hero. I have to wonder, with that history of fighting for his country, why in the world would he be a Democrat? Was he the last of the Kennedy Democrats, before they were all socialists?

So, Obama is full of himself. That’s news??? EVERY politician, of every stripe, is full of themselves! That’s why they go into politics… to garner attention (and power) to themselves. In fact, nowadays 90% of the politicians in America, ESPECIALLY those at the federal level, are SO full of themselves that they’ve forgotten those whom they serve… WE the people! They’re SO busy garnering attention, power, and money to themselves that they’ve pretty much destroyed the economic future of the country.

Of course, of all of the self-serving, narcissistic politicians in Washington, Comrade Obama wins the gold medal!

I am going to dig out the article on who many times Hitler, Mussolini, the French Premier & Neville Chamberlin referred to themselves in speeches. Leaders of fascist nations referred to themselves the most & those of democracies the least

obama is definitely Hitler like & Fascist material.

Therefore you got to wonder about the people who voted for him. Budding little fascists they are..

I… can honestly say, that I”VE… duped many useful idiots that allowed ME… to become POTUS and MY… old lady Moose to become worst lady so that I… as a communist operative can begin MY… plan to disassemble the greatest nation in the history of mankind. And after only 1/3 of MY… second term I… am going to realize that MY…communist plan will fail> I… never knew so many american patriots took their freedom & liberty, their blood, sweat and tears so seriously. This Kenyan didn’t know Sen.Inouye. He didn’t know the man or care about his service.Whenever he’s forced to show and speak no matter what the event is, it become about the GREAT, BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA. Sen. Inouye put on a uniform and fought for this country like my grandfather who I lost the beginning of this year. The Greatest Generation is leaving us rapidly and all this worthless Prez can do is talk about himself. What else could he say? He’s never loved this nation or respected the sacrifices of the WWII generation who brought down evil in its purest form. He doesn’t even care about all the SEALS we’ve lost in our times.
He’s back where he belongs. Doing nothing in Hawaii, chooming, and thankful he’s not in the WH trying to actually help the American economy and people. I wish the sob would quit and stay there.
God Bless the WWII generation. YOU ALL saved and worked together to stop evil tyranny across the world. Not all have forgotten.Thank You. God Bless

Hi DISGUSTREDINUSA, I agree with you 1000%. Now, you need to get a nice picture/photo to go along with your appropriate username.

TODAY’S QUESTION : WHAT IS A NARCISSISTIC SOCIOPATH?
Special Report by: Paul Herscheimmer, Ph.D
A narcissistic sociopath is someone who’s first name is usually Barry, dark-skinned, thin, clean, good-looking, can speak without a ***** dialect, and with a combination of narcissistic personality disorder and definitive behavioral signs of sociopathy, Barry’s prognosis for recovery is estimated by psychologists to be a mere 0.08%. People with narcissism/Barry are characterized by their excessive and persistent need for others’ admiration and positive reinforcement during the second Presidential Debate (enter CNN/Candy Crowley). They generally have grandiose opinions of themselves and believe they are superior (“I have always believed that my salvation was based on the collective”), not to be confused, however, with the grandiose feelings of manic phases of bipolar disorder. The Barry are also frequently convinced that they are above the normal laws/responsibilities and obligations of everyday life (“Tell Carter Ham to stand down”), so that they/Barry usually have significant difficulties maintaining employment or relationships as a result (eg: the soon-to-be impeachment and treason charges leading to public execution). The narcissistic sociopath/wife of Michelle has had this type of personality disorder along with a noticeable total lack
