Graphic Report: Assad Forces Douse Syrian Rebels With Nerve Gas — Will It Drive U.S. Intervention?
Just after reports of a government airstrike on a bakery in the rebel-held town of Halfaya, which killed more than 60 Syrians waiting for bread provisions, new reports are that poisonous gas has been used on rebels. Some are beginning to wonder if this will prompt U.S. intervention.
Al Jazeera reported Sunday that those fighting under Syrian President Bashar Assad’s regime used nerve gas on rebel forces. David Axe for Wired’s Danger Room reported that if this is true – and he says “that’s a huge if” — then it could come with “serious implications for the rest of the world.”
Here’s what Al Jazeera wrote in its report of the alleged gassing:
Seven people have died in Homs after they inhaled a “poisonous gas” used by government forces in a rebel-held neighbourhood, activists said.
Activists also told Al Jazeera on Sunday night that scores of others were affected in al-Bayyada neighbourhood. Side effects reported include nausea, relaxed muscles, blurred vision, and breathing difficulties.
Residents said they did not know the nature of the gas used.
“The situation is very difficult. We do not have enough facemasks. We don’t know what this gas is but medics are saying it’s something similar to Sarin gas,” Raji Rahmet Rabbou, an activist in Homs, told Al Jazeera.
A doctor treating patients subsequently said the gas seemed to be a concentrated form of tear gas that has not been used in Homs before. Inhaling large amounts can lead to suffocation and death, he said.
The gas appears to have been used during a battle with rebel fighters.
Al Jazeera included this along with its post. It appears that the man is being treated medically after being gassed (Content warning: Disturbing images):
The translated title of the video (via Google Translate) reads “Homs Mahasrhatalaq chemical gases crippling nerve and temporary loss of sight.”
Business Insider pointed to a Google+ page that lists the names of alleged victims killed by “Agent 15″ nerve gas. The page also has several more videos listing cases of suffocation due to the gas and a doctor commenting on the cases.
The Google+ page written by Cham Shareef includes that more than 50 people were exposed to the gas and 12 are in critical condition. Effects of the gas, according to Shareef, include suffocation, nerve paralysis, temporary blindness, change in skin color, nauseous, and hysteria and hallucinations.
This video shows the effects on the victim of the alleged poison gas as well (Warning: Disturbing images):
The threat of chemical warfare in Syria has long been present, but these reports might be an indication that it’s not longer just a threat.
If the gas was in fact used, Wired pointed out Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said earlier this month that the U.S. was “certainly planning to take action” if chemical weapons were used in Syria.
Business Insider included that 63 percent of people responding to a Washington Post poll last week would support American intervention in Syria if chemical warfare began.

Posted on December 24, 2012 at 2:36pmAfter viewing all the videos for the last hour, I believe that these videos are real. Assad used a form of poison gas on Sunday. In short he crossed Obama’s so-called red line on intervention. With Russian and Iranian boots already on the ground helping Assad, if NATO actually gets involved, it will be WW3. I have no idea what Obama will do. He is on vacation after jumping with Congress over the Fiscal Cliff on Friday. He probably does not want to be bothered by this. Merry Xmas.

Posted on December 24, 2012 at 4:07pmThe Antichrist needs a war, to distract from F&F, Benghazi and the fiscal cliff red herring. Having supplied Al Qaeda and other “freedom fighters” with 50′s, RPG’s and stingers, he will send our troops, who will have to fight Assad’s troops, Russian, Iranian forces and the terrorist that he armed.
The money spent on this will accelerate his goal of our economic collapse. I suggest we should not be involved in Syria and let the UN handle it, as they are so adept at preventing the slaughters of millions of people. Let them all kill each other and save us the trouble.
We should obey the Constitution, pull out of all foreign, Mideast conflicts and mind our own business. We all witnessed how much the “Commie in Chief” cares about soldiers, by the WH and State dept. deafening silence, when ex marine Jon Hammar was being extorted and locked in that Mexican hell hole prison.
We need to seal that border tight and adopt Mexico’s immigration policy, as their president lectured our congress about our policies. If a US citizen illegally enters Mexico or attempts to access any social benefits, it is a 2 year minimum sentence for first offense, 10 years for second offense and life for the third. Wait, they would not vote Democrat then, would they?

Posted on December 24, 2012 at 4:10pmThe classic symptoms of nerve agent poisoning are excessive runny nose, tightness in chest, difficulty in breathing, loss of muscle control, death. I have seen this agent in action on goats (training films as an NBC NCO in the army) and can say it is a violent way to go that takes minutes. The early symptom is excessive mucous discharge from the nose followed by loss of muscle control. Atropine is the antidote and must be administered immediately after the onset of early symptoms. Nerve agents smell like a freshly mowed lawn.
Of all weapons of mass destruction, biological warfare is the most horrific and would produce the most casualties depending on the virus or bacteria released. To be tactically useful, biological weapons would need to be transmitted airborne like a cold and exhibit infection rates exceeding 90% with a short incubation time for the infected to actively transmit the virus before any identifiable symptoms develop. Fatality rate targets are 80% or better. We develop active pathogens that can be weaponized in order to create vaccines. There is no intent to ever use biological weapons, but due to the active pursuit of biological weapons by rogue nations, we must have a means of surviving the threat. The truth is that you will not like the truth of the actions that would need to take place if we are to survive. What some consider FEMA internment camps are actually for quarantine. Would you shoot a neighbor to contain infection?

Right on. Keep our fat noses where they belong: in our own yard. We are neither the world’s policeman nor the world’s savior for all things ‘democratic’ (quite the opposite, IMO).
Bring all our troops home from every base outside CONUS and let the rest of the world do its own dirty work. We don’t need the expense, the aggravation, the riots, the bad press or the denigration of the world for doing what they have neither the balls nor ability to do.
Let them burn each other up and if asked politely about three times, maybe then we will consider going in and cleaning up the mess.

Posted on December 24, 2012 at 6:02pmCassandra anyone?
The last thing many authoritarian regimes must corrupt to gain full power is the military.
Do not doubt me, Obama wants:
1) the fiscal cliff to happen so he can gut the military without directly being responsible
2) continuous low level conflicts that keep our military spread thin and at the least burns out the patriotic Soldier and at most malicious continuous to kill off a portion of his opposition ( no coincidence that ever since 2001, the vast majority of casualties have been white, male, patriots; and from a group that is heavily conservative) … Yes sometimes and other races but look at the stats, if this had been reversed we’d never hear the end of the poor minorities dying for rich whitey.
3) to reduce the confidence of the public in the military through strategic information warfare of select stories to discredit them (not focus on heros but on 1-2 freak incidents, like Koran burning)
4) to scare and intimidate the military leadership by indirect blackmail, so they do not dare challenge him (e.g. Petreaus)
5) co-opt people leaving the military by drastically increasing ex-military on disability so their payments are tied to big government
6) reduce morale and comraderie by illigetimazing tradition and enforcing ideas that are counter to this brotherhood (e.g. Homosexuals)
And I am running out of space, but mark my words he wants the destruction of the military as we have known it so he can co-opt it, replace it, and take over

Muslim entity wants western intervention on its behalf, so they fake some photos, videos, and news reports to play themselves as the victim.
US/NATO intervention predictably results.
Even more predictably, the Muslim entity wins, and it turns out that they were never victims of anything other than the evil Islamic doctrine that they themselves chose to embrace.
It also turns out that the side that the US and NATO supported was actually the local branch of al Qaeda and/or the Muslim Brotherhood.

Posted on December 25, 2012 at 1:00amYou can make a lung and eye irritant gas with simple Chlorine Bleach and Vinegar or urine. I know my G/F cleaned an area of our bathroom/laundry floor that had cat urine dried on the linoleum with a bleach wipe and it was irritating and made me gag a little. Its more like a tear gas. Done that in basic training in the Army. They set off a canister in a testing building to check if you know how to put on a chemical mask when your inside after a 2-3 minutes they tell you to take off the mask and take a deep breath of the CS gas, you cough a lot and salivate a lot some even had there eyes irritated.

Nation’s laws and leaders should not have the power to set you against your brother. Trust in His Word and seek refuge in it. I believe that the sacrifice of our savior Jesus Christ will give me the strength that I cannot have without him to not fear death. I also believe that their are evil people on this planet and will seek God’s will through the Bible and prayer. He has never let me down nor given me a burden too heavy to shoulder. He gives me strength to deal with others that have harmed me. I understand free will, but also understand the amazing power of forgiveness that is the only complete and true healing that makes one stronger through the revealed truth. I pray to do His will and that answer may result in my physical death, injury, sacrifice or to do battle against His enemies. His will will be clear if you seek it. Are you willing to hear it and act upon it?

Posted on December 24, 2012 at 4:19pmFeralhuman, As usual, “The_Jerk” blames the Jews for the turmoil in Syria. It’s “The_Jerks” exclusive domain to blame the Jews for anything and everything in the world. Not even the Syrian’s, or its controlling forces, the Russians and Iran, blame Israel for the murders going on in Syria. Just “The_Jerk” does. Finally, “The_Jerk” mentions the poison gas that Saddam Hussein of Iraq used to kill his fellow Moslems. He/she, for once, is correct. Historically, however, a lot more Moslems were gassed to death by Bashar Assad’s father in 1982. Haffaz Assad gassed 25,000 of his fellow citizens, just because he felt that those women and children were a threat to his regime. However, 30 years ago, when Assad, Sr. slaughtered those citizens, not one Moslem country voiced any objection. Today, at least, Turkey and Saudi Arabia have complained about the ongoing slaughter.

Why is obama and his god, the un, denying Syria the right to protect it’s sovereignty. (besides the fact that obama is killing our sovereignty)
FUN FACT about 1 % of Syrians (the small number of hardline islamists there) want assad out, because he runs a republic open for business and growth in a moderated Arab country, that happened to be signing a treaty with Israel conveniently right about the time this “peaceful freedom loving uprising started” even though the rebels are hardline islamists, anti christian, murderers, who want total sharia law, and will move on to Jordan as soon as Syria is complete… Syria is not run by islam.
FUN FACT approximately 50 % of American want obama to leave office, immediately thats 50 : 1
when are people here going to wake up and demand our government and the media be held accountable. no more politicizing american events to take our rights away, no more lies from the media, no more false fiscal cliffs, no more u.n. taking over our country, no more handing out billions to foreign counties, no fraudu

These people that want to take down Assad are al-Qaeda and the muslim brotherhood. THEY ARE JUST AS EVIL. Why bother replacing evil with more evil. What do we get out of it? We get nothing but more hatred and violence directed our way.

Posted on December 24, 2012 at 12:55pmI too think this could be propaganda. But if it isn’t and it is true, then people had better wake up to the fact that Syria is a small bit player in what is really happening. And that is that Iran is trying to strengthen its presence in the region. I feel sorry for the children in the area, but their fathers and mothers have embraced a culture of death and a religion that favors death rather than life. And because of this embrace, they will suffer. This is just another visual speed bump to hide a greater danger, Iran’s nuclear program. And that my friends makes any nerve gas attack, look like a fart in church. It might clear a pew or two, but it won’t end the service. And Iran would much rather have our attention on another internal conflict between crazies, than on a lunatic with a nuclear bomb. Money will mean nothing if they decide to start mass production of these and disseminating them through our porous borders or into the countries of our few allies that we still have.

He thinks he’s God,he actually believes the BS his lap dogs and the state run media have dished out for the simpletons. Barry should’ve been impeached and thrown out of office three scandals ago but congress suffers from low T and the senate is full of commie pigs. We’re stuck with the disaster in chief for four more years, maybe more.

Posted on December 24, 2012 at 12:32pmOne more Red Flag Propaganda being used by Obama’s terrorist allies, a strike with Sarin nerve agents would have killed many more people.
This is one more move, again propaganda, to try and force the world to condemn Assad and force the world to intervene – especially Obama, who would love to have one more excuse to cripple the armed forces and our nations economy in a blood bath to restore the Caliphate for his extremist allies.

Stay out. We’ve been duped and trapped by these warmongers before. And, it was written about, not here, but in Israel… as it all too often is.

A myth:
————-
Syria’s Christians continue to stand by Assad regime
February 6, 2012
Syria’s Christians, a fellow minority, believe they need the ruling Assad regime for protection.
But in Christian homes around the country the prevailing sentiment is one of relief rather than delight — they link the survival of the Assad regime to their own.
“Thank god for Russia. Without Russia we are doomed,” said a Christian woman from Damascus recently.
As a fellow minority, Christians have long supported the Alawite regime in order to ensure protection and rights for themselves. The Alawite are a Shiite sect of Islam.
“Look what has happened in Iraq and now in Egypt,” said the woman. “Assad in power means that won’t happen here.”
