Middle East Merry Christmas: How Different Were Netanyahu’s and the PLO’s Christmas Messages? You Just Got to Watch

In Rival Christmas Videos Netanyahu Touts Freedom of Religion, While PLO Slams Israel

In competing Christmas greetings published this week, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is touting the freedoms enjoyed by Christians in Israel, while the PLO is slamming Israel for oppressing Palestinian Christians.

Wishing the “merriest of holidays” to Christians in Israel and around the world, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu acknowledged the grave threats Christians face in the Muslim world. At the same time, he said, Israel is one place where Christians can practice their religion freely. In a video posted on YouTube on Christmas Eve, he said:

Today, Christian communities throughout the Middle East are shrinking, and many of them are endangered.  This is, of course, not true in Israel. Here there is a strong and growing Christian community that participates fully in the life of our country.  Israel is proud of its record of religious tolerance and pluralism, and Israel will continue to protect freedom of religion for all.  And we will continue to safeguard places of Christian worship throughout our country.  We will not tolerate any acts of violence or discrimination against any place of worship.  This is not our way, and this is something we cannot accept.

So as you celebrate Christmas and your holy holidays, we hope that you will recall the places where Judaism and Christianity emerged, and then come see our ancient land with your own eyes:  visit Nazareth and Bethlehem, wade into the Jordan River, stand on the shores of the Sea of Galilee.

And next year, come visit our eternal capital, Jerusalem.

Palestinians will no doubt be unhappy Netanyahu referred to Bethlehem as part of the ancient land of Israel and Jerusalem as Israel’s capital. The Palestinian Authority is currently in control of the city of Bethlehem, and Palestinians want to establish their capital in Jerusalem – which Israel believes to be its eternal capital that should never be re-divided as it was prior to the 1967 Six Day War.

The PLO released its own videotaped Christmas message titled “Justice is Possible and Hope is Justified.” Not one word is spoken in the video, but its images speak volumes.

The video begins innocently enough showing Christmas lights and decorations and worshipers – including a teenager – lighting candles in a Christian church, presumably the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem. It then cuts to the same Christian teen riding his bicycle but passing what’s presented as the menacing Israeli separation barrier. Israeli authorities erected that barrier – which pro-Palestinian activists refer to as the “apartheid wall” – after a wave of suicide bombings ten years ago killed hundreds of Israelis. The barrier which separates parts of the West Bank from Israeli cities is constructed of fence in many parts. Only 5% of the so-called wall is actually made of concrete and since it was erected has successfully obstructed the free movement of would-be Palestinian suicide bombers.

In the video, ominous dark clouds waft over the separation barrier as the boy wistfully looks skyward.

Palestinian officials have in the past exploited the holidays to convey a political message. Last year, Bethlehem’s then-mayor at Christmas called for a boycott of Israel, accusing it of instituting racism characteristic of apartheid-era South Africa, while the Palestinian Prime Minister Fayyad said Christmas is an opportunity to “celebrate the Palestinian identity of Jesus Christ.”

I think that was the point; that as a Christian Palestinianan he lived with the wall but accepted it because he was among his people.

the palestinians may hate the jews because they are the sons of satan, what does that say about the U.S. We are satan and as a primarily christian country, I don’t think they hold us in high regard either. Islam teaches them to lie if its good for islam. As it is christmas eve, I know God loves all his children, I just think he loves some of them more.

December 16, 1983: “Glory be the name of the Lord, thy God; glory be the name of His children for ever and ever. And we shall say this parable in this manner and in this way. For many people ventured forth in the land you would call the Holy Land, that of Bethlehem. They did make pilgrimage there. For there was the birth and the beginning of the Christian religion. Yet, it sits in the heart of the land of Judaism, and there is a heart of the Moslem religion. Remember these words, for in each is like a huge circle, each a part of the other. Each could not exist without the other. If you destroyed one part, you have destroyed the whole. Yet, allow one part to grow, and you allow them all to grow, for they are bound together. There are many parts of the Buddha religion, and the Buddhists of many sectors and parts, and they do not make war upon one or another. They have found a way of sharing their God. If only all others would do the same.
For as we reach forth unto this time, the time that you shall set aside to celebrate the birth of Jesus of Nazareth, the Christ, set aside the time, each of you, in you in your hearts and souls, that may we find a way to live among each other in peace and harmony. We have seen all nations. But you, who live in this you call the United States of America, are of all nations, of all colors and creed[s]. You have brought forth a great nation dedicated to justice and liberty for all, before God. That and that alone has set you aside….”

There is no such thing and never has been a nation called “Palestine”. Nor is there such a thing as a Palestinian people, culture, currency, language, government, military…. They are all arabs and they are being used as pawns by their original nations in a propaganda war against Israel; even Arafat was an Egyptian. All of so called “palestine” belongs to Israel period and there has never been an arab nation there. The double standard that Israel is held to is ridiculous. The FACTS are that the so called Palestinians are the real terrorists and that Israel defends itself as any other sovereign nation would. Israel goes to painstaking levels to avoid civilian casualties and arabs specifically target and hide behind women and children. Israel is a thriving democracy with one of the highest standards of living in the world; Arab nations are stuck in the dark ages. On May 13, 1948 the so-called ‘palestinians’ were JORDANIANS….however, on May 14, 1948 (a mere 24 hours LATER) suddenly they were ‘palestinians?’ Give me a BREAK! Talk about an ‘invented’ peoples.

Actually, it was the Jews who were referred to as “Palestinians” until 1948 when Israel became a state and obviously they preferred to be called Israelis. The disparate group of Arabs from Judea and Samaria (labeled the West Bank by Jordan) were not referred to as Palestinians until Yasser Arafat decided that he needed an identity – a brand – for his intifada in the 1960′s. That was when the Arabs were labeled Palestinians to advance Arafat’s political agenda, and his propaganda succeeded beyond his wildest dreams because the liberals of the world are too ignorant or blinded by ideology to look at history and know the truth. If you watch Paul Newman’s “Exodus”… you will see a Jewish policeman referred to as a Palestinian, and I believe that was made around 1962.

I decided to read the Koran, so I purchased a copy. It was the most hateful book I’ve ever laid eyes on. Virtually every page was filled with vitriol and hatred against Jews and infidels — hatred of the worst kind. I had to stop because it was filling my soul with darkness. I now have a much nicer copy of the book, a beautiful copy given to me by some Muslim friends, but I can’t bring myself to begin reading it again because of the dark impressions it left upon my soul.

Since they dont have it, there’s nothing wrong with having power! the power to live in peace, the power to control your own destiny, the power to have security in your own land! sounds familiar doesn’t it? because each party wants the same as the other.. As long as there is no need to implement the law of cause and effect with the outcome resulting in war, let them use that same law which will result in the cause of a lasting peace and goodwill towards men!

It will NEVER happen, but wouldn’t it be wonderful if the peoples of the earth could all just get along. We don’t have to embrace our differences so tightly. It’s Christmas (literally for God’s sake) and should be a time of healing. The Palestinian video wasn’t one of love and compassion and certainly fostered no healing. I’ll never understand why hate has such a hold on the people who claim it is the only way to success.

May God bless Netanyahu and the Jewish people…………….but may he also bless those Palestinians who oppose them, for they are all God’s people.

The videos speak for themselves. We have extended relatives currently residing in each area. One was told absolutely nothing Christian oriented could be brought into their area. Basically anything that could offend the oh so tolerant religion he’d be surrounded by. He was also told not to visit Israel because this would cause a problem when he reentered where he’s currently residing for work. Everything spoken by Netanyahu was absolutely correct. As has been the case for many many years those of other religions are not only tolerated but welcome to tour the Holy Land while wearing their crosses and carrying their bibles. May God bless and protect Israel!

Amazing this is 2012. Israel leadership stands for and protects the basic right and freedom of the Individual. To worship as one would want “peacefully”. On the other hand We the United States emboldened and aided terrorists who use the money to burn down Christian churches, machine gun down poor “Black” Africans in church. Yes elections do have consequences. More important the charter and principles of the leadership has the more profound consequences. Look at where our leadership today and their moral compass has lead to. The name plate is still there, what it stands for has “radically” changed.
