A Christmas Message from Glenn Beck
I think a lot of people today can sympathize with Charlie Brown in the opening scene of the American TV classic A Charlie Brown Christmas when he admitted that, although the Christmas season had arrived, he was depressed. One look at the news and that state of mind is quite understandable: riots broke out at a mall & a man was shot over the release of new Michael Jordan retro sneakers; police armed with riot gear were needed to break up a fight at a youth football game in California; free condom dispensers are being placed at Philadelphia high schools for the holidays; and of course none of us can shake the unimaginable tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary. It’s tough to digest six-year-old children being so violently robbed of their chance to live a full life, and the scars the survivors will carry with them for the rest of their life.
These stories and infinite others like them pummel our sense of “merriment” into submission, leaving us dazed & confused about the world surrounding us. Why did this happen? How could it happen? Where’s God in all of this? Shouldn’t He be doing some serious smiting or something?Β I wish I had the answer to the how’s and the why’s, but I am not going to pretend to have all the answers. I know we have free will & I know evil exists – but why does something like the Sandy Hook tragedy happen? Simply stated: I do not know.
But let me share with you what I do know: while we live in a fallen world, there is hope. Not a hollow ‘things will get better’ promise based on nothing in particular; but real, true hope. The ultimate proof is the very reason we celebrate Christmas: “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.”
That is the real meaning of Christmas. The message many Christians complain is lost in an onslaught of the winter solstice, holiday trees, stuff, Santa and yet more stuff. And that’s true, but I’ll take it a step further – and this is where non-Christians, atheists, Muslims, Jews, Wiccans and everyone in between can come together: the real meaning of Christmas isn’t just about the baby Jesus. It’s also about what we do with the knowledge of the Christmas story.
Making sure our National Nativity Defense Force is vigorously patrolling manger scenes all across America and bickering with atheists shouldn’t be the extent of our Christianity. We should instead be on the lookout for those in need: the poor, the needy, widows, orphans, loners, the rejected, the suffering, the lost, the angry, the depressed, neighbors, strangers, brothers, sisters, co-workers, friends, and yes even enemies. And we should help and love them because God first loved us. Just doing that alone will shine a giant spotlight of hope into a dark world.
When Charlie Brown’s cast for his Christmas play had lost sight of the real meaning of Christmas, Linus stepped up to the stage and recited this from Luke:
“‘And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not; for, behold, I bring you tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you: Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace and goodwill towards men.’”
The message of hope caused the gang to have a change of heart and start loving instead of complaining. My prayer this Christmas is for more people everywhere, believers and non-believers, to be inspired by the Christmas story and the love God showed His people, and for them to pass that love on to others.
Laus Deo,
In CONTROL, Glenn Beck presents a passionate, fact-based case for guns that reveals why gun control isnβt really about controlling guns at all; itβs about controlling us. LINUS: “Sure, Charlie Brown. I can tell you what Christmas is all about.”
And then, he tells … the lie.

But here is what Christmas is really REALLY all about:
* Merit Students Encyclopedia *
“December 25 was an important holiday long before the rise of Christianity. The Romans knew it as natalis solis invicti (‘the day of the birth of the unconquered sun’). Natalis solis invicti fell during the great Roman winter festival, the Saturnalia. It was also the most important feast day of the Mithraic religion, one of the chief rivals of early Christianity.”
βWhen the LORD your God cuts off from before you the nations which you go to dispossess, and you displace them and dwell in their land, take heed to yourself that you are not ensnared to follow them, after they are destroyed from before you, and that you do not inquire after their gods, saying, βHow did these nations serve their gods? I also will do likewise.β YOU SHALL NOT WORSHIP THE LORD YOUR GOD IN THAT WAY; for every abomination to the LORD which He hates they have done to their gods; …”

Posted on December 26, 2012 at 4:19amWHY CHRISTMAS?
PART 1
Why celebrate Christmas? The answer depends on who you ask. To the kids, it’s Santa Claus and toys. To the adults, it’s a paid holiday and visiting with the relatives. To the religious, it’s the birth of Christ and good will to all mankind. To the merchants, it’s the year’s profits.
Ostensibly, Christmas is the celebration of the birth of Jesus. Yet, the “traditions” of this holiday to have little to do with the savior of mankind. All we know of Christmas today was not known to Christians before 200 A.D. The source of all these traditions, and what that means for us today, is shocking.
Did you know the original Christians did not celebrate birthdays?
* World Book Encyclopedia *
“The exact date of Christ’s birth is not known. The early Christians did not celebrate His birth because they considered the celebration of anyone’s birth to be a pagan custom.”

Did you know that Christmas was celebrated long before the birth of Christ?
* Merit Students Encyclopedia *
* New Catholic Encyclopedia *
“Inexplicable though it seems, the date of Christ’s birth is not known. …. Christmas originated at a time when the cult of the sun was particularly strong at Rome. This theory finds support in some of the Church Fathers’ contrasting the birth of Christ and the winter solstice; indeed, from the beginning of the 3d century ‘Sun of Justice’ appears as a title of Christ”
* World Book Encyclopedia *
“The first mention of the observance of Christ’s birthday appears about A.D. 200. For many years, several dates were used. December 25 was first mentioned in 336.”
* Merit Students Encyclopedia *
“The leaders of the early Church willingly accepted December 25 as the most probable date of Christ’s birth. The Christian festival could be substituted for heathen celebrations, and Christ could replace pagan deities without completely changing the form of worship.”

Posted on December 26, 2012 at 4:20amPART 3
Did you know that Christmas was outlawed in Europe and America as being a pagan festival?
* Merit Students Encyclopedia *
“During the Middle Ages, Christmas became the most popular festival of the year. It continued to flourish until the rise of Protestantism in the 16th century. Some Protestant theologians objected to the extravagant feasting and revelry associated with the holiday. They also attacked such originally pagan customs as the use of Christmas trees and mistletoe. In England the Puritans, under the leadership of Oliver Cromwell, condemned the holiday. From 1642 to 1652 they issued a series of laws forbidding all Christmas church services and festivities. …. The pilgrim settlers in America brought with them the Puritan views that had led to the suppression of Christmas in England. In 1659 they passed a law forbidding Christmas observances in their settlements.”
So, Christmas is really just an old pagan festival with modern sounding, Christian names. So, when you think you are honoring God and Christ, you are really turning your back and worshiping pagan idols in the manner they have been worshiped centuries before.

Jesus and the original Christians had much to say about what is acceptable worship to God.
apostle Paul:
“I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting him who called you in the grace of Christ and turning to a different gospel — not that there is another gospel, but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ.” (Galatians 1:6-7)
apostle Paul:
“Therefore, my beloved, shun the worship of idols. …. What do I imply then? That food offered to idols is anything, or that an idol is anything? No, I imply that what pagans sacrifice they offer to demons and not to God. I do not want you to be partners with demons. You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons. You cannot partake of the table of the Lord and the table of demons.” (1 Corinthians 10:14,19-21)
the LORD:
“The LORD said to Moses, ‘Say to the people of Israel, The appointed feasts of the LORD which you shall proclaim as holy convocations, my appointed feast, are these. …. [read about them: the weekly Sabbath, the Passover, the Feast of Unleavened Bread, the Feast of Weeks (Pentecost), the Feast of Trumpets, the Day of Atonement, the Feast of Booths (Tabernacles), and the Last Great Day] ” (Leviticus 23:1-44 & Deuteronomy 16:1-17)

Posted on December 25, 2012 at 5:55pmI wish you all the best of this joyus season, no matter how you choose to celebrate it. The fact that Christians stole Christmas when they could not rid people of Saturnalia, does not change the value of the needed party at this dark time of year. The number of questionable “facts” about religious dogma does not change our common desire for good will for all men. Ever notice that there is more blood spilled where you call it the “Holy Land”? Jesus saves, Moses invests and Mohamid kills, who do you think will win?

Posted on December 25, 2012 at 7:35pm@ LYNSKINNERS, Lynn, from the perspective of a man who has been married to a Mormon for the latter half of his 10-year marriage and has consequently come into contact with quite a few, don’t worry about the Mormons. If most Catholics, Lutherans, Anglicans, Presbyterians, Methodists and Pentecostals practiced their faith half as well as do most of the active Mormons I have met, this country would be a happier place today. They do what they do in the name of Jesus Christ. That is something that even my LCMS Seminarian Son, with whom I have running debates about infant baptism, decision theology and trans-substantiation, could not argue with.

Posted on December 25, 2012 at 12:19pmSecularists have been trying to re-translate, or simply change, the Holy Bible since it was written with the intent to marginalize, reduce and/or negate it’s message! In recent times they have been quite successful. The changes are often hardly noticeable but, none the less, they significantly alter the ‘meaning’ of a ‘given’ passage. Charley Brown’s ‘quote’ of “LUKE 2-14″ is an example! He says in that quote: “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace and ‘good will towards men’.” It actually reads in the in CPDV (Douay Rhimes) “Glory to God in the highest; and on earth ‘peace to men of good will’.” Juggle the words a bit and two completely different messages are conveyed. Charlie Brown’s ‘quote’ REMOVES any need for man to pursue Gods approval and represents one of the earliest attempts by MSM to “Subtly” alter Scripture. None the less it’s still one of my all time favorite Christmas Specials!
God bless you Glenn, your Family and everyone at THE BLAZE… Merry Christmas!d your comments

But I think I actually prefer King James’ translation because God did indeed make the first move with “good will towards men.”
As for “men of goodwill”, as Christian theology holds, we were ALL at enmity with God.

Posted on December 25, 2012 at 11:13amIN THE BEGINNING…
In the beginning there was DOS, and God saw that this was good because
DOS controlled the computer for the Engineers who spoke DOS and told it
what to do. But the people were so afraid and knew not what to do, for
none of them could type and very few could think.
In Seeing a chance to weaken the Lordβs plan, the fallen angel Bill and his
evil henchmen at Microsoft invented Windows, which made the computer
like an Etch-a-Sketch, which all the children liked, and there was
happiness throughout the land. However, the Engineers with their ability
to think were still the only ones who could get the computer to actually
do anything, because they could still speak DOS when they needed to.
Unfortunately, every time Windows gained an ability that DOS had,
Microsoft also took that ability away from the underlying DOS, so you
could _/only/_ do that operation with the mouse. Thus was revealed the
true evil of the Microsoft plan: Nowadays, Windows computers MUST be run
with the mouse, because all that is left of the original DOS is the
useless βDOS windowβ which only pretends to do things. Not even the
Engineers with their knowledge and wisdom can control the computer any
longer.

Posted on December 25, 2012 at 11:18amSo Saint Linus, following the path of righteousness, invented Linux to
return the people to the way of the Lord. And the people, some of them
who still remembered how to type and think for themselves, saw that once
again the world could be good, and supported him.
Yet, the forces of evil see their doom and are gathering their strength
for battle and control of the future. We must stand with the forces of
good, for if Microsoft wins we will be damned to running Windows for all
time.
Merry Christmas to the Linux folks…. : )

He achieves this, EXACTLY like Van Jones, by manipulating EMOTIONS and manufacturing consensus. COMMUNITY ORGANIZING, EXACTLY like Obama, by tapping into FAKE-TEA GOP Freedomworks (a REPUBLICAN organization that FALSELY POSES as “tea party” to organize thousands FOR THE GOP).
