Man Who Shot Firefighters Left Note Saying He Wanted to ‘Do What I Like Doing Best, Killing People’

William Spengler, Shot Firefighters in Webster, New York, Left Note Saying He Wanted to Do What I Like Doing Best, Killing People

WEBSTER, N.Y. (AP) — Police in Webster, N.Y., say the man who lured firefighters to their deaths in a blaze of gunfire left a typewritten note saying he wanted to burn down the neighborhood and “do what I like doing best, killing people.”

Webster Police Chief Gerald Pickering said Tuesday that the man’s sister hasn’t been found yet. He said 62-year-old ex-convict William Spengler armed himself with three weapons and set his house afire to lure first responders into a death trap.

Two firefighters were shot dead and two others are hospitalized. Spengler killed himself as seven houses burned around him Monday.

In CONTROL, Glenn Beck presents a passionate, fact-based case for guns that reveals why gun control isn’t really about controlling guns at all; it’s about controlling us. Find out more HERE.

How is it this guy had a gun, Under New York law this guy should not have had a gun of any type being a felon. So if New York cannot keep someone from illegally getting a gun under existing laws how is it they are going to keep someone from doing the same thing under any new laws they pass. Its an absolute fact that the US will be a more dangerous place for law abiding citizens if these idiots get there way and ban gun ownership.

Yep. No gun law in existence was going to stop him. No future laws, either. He was bound and determined to do evil. All these laws accomplish is a guarantee of defenseless victims, like a barrel full of fish.

I agree with you, but the left will use that as an argument for out and out confiscation and outlawing of rights of private citizens to bear arms.

The left has an agenda to drive this culture in a direction designed to destroy it. Gun control is just one of their weapons. The cadre of intellectuals that have trained Gramsci shock troops of teachers and media hacks to take this which was a Judeo/Chrsitan culture down from within…

got one question for anyone on this blog – do you know who Fabians (with logo of wolf in sheep’s clothing), Frankfurt School, Antonio Gramsci, Mattechine Society, Alinksi (who dedicated his book “Rules for Radicals to Lucifer), which Obama taught in Chicago for years, Committees of Correspondence are? Connect all the dots that allowed Obama to waltz into the White House…

Outlaw guns and criminals will stop owning or possessing guns and people will be safe with no guns around..

What does the term criminal mean anyways? Could it maybe mean someone that does not obey the law? What makes you think most criminals care about legally purchasing something anyways?

I am still trying to figure out how that last shooter was found with two pistols next to his dead body (said the police) and an AR in the back seat of his car, but the coroner claimed that every one shot was done so by a rifle?

Did he run outside, put the rifle back in the car, then run back inside and shoot himself?

Whoops, I forgot he’s in one of the most liberal states in the country, which goes to show you how screwed up this state is. They’re more worried about banning 16oz sodas than how many murderers are let out of prison to rejoin society. Thank God he killed himself because at least this way, his future is taken out of the liberals hands. I hope the firefighters family sue the **** out of new York for letting this monster go free. By design: Our Founders knew that only a moral and biblically literate people could handle the freedoms of our Republic Representative form of government. Freedom without morality destroys. There is so much filth and depravity it is just background noise. So much of what is acceptable today would horrify our Founders that we have sunk so low.

      LAR5,

Just because he maybe bought the gun at a gunshow from a non-dealer, or from the truck of a non-dealer parked in a shopping center parking lot, or in an apartment when responding to a Craig’s List advertisement, or stole them from someones home(s) or vehicle(s); he knew he was a convicted felon and the lack of a background check isn’t what kept him from getting the guns. He was breaking laws buying guns, stealing guns and/or possessing guns. Another gun law would have been ignored just like those were. But, even more illustrative…

How many people did he shoot? How many did he kill? Weren’t there laws against that? What about setting arson fires? Weren’t there laws against that?

OK, so if we just plug the so called “gun show loophole” that is going to fix what?

The ******** that push for the so called “gun show loophole” are just looking for an excuse to chip away at peoples rights by increasing costs of purchase. The only thing the “gun show loophole” is going to do is…nothing. It isn’t going to do a thing.

When Cain, (The Devil according to Jesus) who was the first murderer and liar, turned his back in God’s face he created a new mind on this planet and those genes survive to this very day. There was no repentance even after God the peace maker spoke with him that much. God never told Cain he would be hidden from His face (The hebrew word for face is the same as presences) but that is what Cain added all on his own he is is the first devil (not an angel) who sowed the tares in the field (the world) amongst the seed through Seth. Cain genes have populated this world ever since and for that reason it is God (the cultivator of his Garden) who must root up the weeds. We are all mixed and must understand this if we want to go through complete repentance that ultimate brings the cure.

I was on a jury once and they withheld tons of info. on the victim, because he was a criminal. They were trying to get a conviction for his death. He really did need killing, and he was. The ‘criminal justice’ system works for the criminals. They treat juries like mushrooms.

A man suspected in a possible home invasion Monday morning was shot and killed after a gunfight with a resident.
Las Vegas police said a man, woman and infant were at an apartment at the La Ventana complex at 2901 N. Rainbow Blvd., near Cheyenne Avenue, when several suspects knocked on the front door about 10:15 a.m.
The three other suspects, two men and a woman, left a vehicle at the scene, ran from the area and were being sought by police.
Both of the adult residents were being treated by paramedics, but not for gunshots, he said. Fire Department paramedics initially said three people had been shot.

Here is another case where a law abiding citizen was FORCED to protect his family due to the actions of the criminal element. He did what he had to do.

The liberal establishment had much rather have the thugs kill, maim, rape their victims rather than allow homeowners to protect themselves and their families. Because a gunfight ensued after the home was invaded, it is obvious that the thugs were armed and might have killed the occupants in order to prevent them from identifying them.

SCREW LIBERALS is right on the money!!! I wish no bad luck on anybody BUT it would be just fine if some of these bleeding heart liberals who are harping continuously about gun bans were the receiptants of some of these midnight visits by the gun toting criminals. If they were to suffer the horror of such a home invasion, they might realize that owning a gun for home protection is a very good idea.

Of course, many of these LIB clowns such as Bloomberg can afford to hire full time ARMED security personnell which tells us that it is OK for them to get protection but the rest of us must suffer the consequences of the actions of criminals.

If you read the newspaper “Rochester Democrat and Chronicle”, you’ll find out that he went away to prison for 25 to 85 years for beating his grandmother to death. He was paroled about 1997 & came off parole in 2006.

A flimsy reason was given for why he murdered his grandmother. He was able to clean up the crimes scene (among other things he tossed the murder weapon in Lake Ontario). He claimed that he did not want his grandmother to go down in the basement because she might fall & get hurt. So while arguing he became enraged & beat her to death.

You got to wonder what was in the basement or what he was doing there?

Will hands & feet be proscribed by law next?

These brave firefighters were killed by the liberal left leaning bureaucrats who paroled this convicted murderer in the first place. But, once the real trolls arrive here, it will be entirely the fault of the gun used and Spengler will be ONE of the victims.

My question is WHY a man so vicious as to beat his grandmother to death is even out of prison at all? It is patently obvious that the New York parole board didn’t have any psychological data on this nut because anyone evil enough to kill his grandmother in that manner certainly has mental problems. The parole board should have seen that.

The Rochester Democrat and Chronicle is a worthless “Progressive” ‘organ’ owned by the communist controlled Gannett Newspapers; a company that actually was founded in Rochester but was forced in 1986 to move to VA by then Gov. Mario Cuomo’s “Stalinist” anti business policies. Even a solidly Progressive news organization was unable to survive in NY’s toxic business climate. For example: remember in 1989 Cuomo cost NY businesses and taxpayers well over 10 BILLION dollars by shuttering the COMPLETED Shoreham Nuclear Power Station a few hour before it went on line. Ten Billion actually meant something 1989.
For the D&C it’s been all downhill since then. Their ‘juices’ drained away when their Parent left and now nothing they print is un-biased or trustworthy; it’s all just propaganda.

The economic & environmental lunacy behind Cuomo’s Shoreham decision is just chilling

I used google to search for more information on Spengler. I don’t like any newspaper that says “Democrat”. But just because it says Democrat does not mean I won’t peruse it. I just wanted to know why he went to jail for 17 years. It seemed like a long time. He killed his grandmother in 1981. So I don’t think he was trolling on the internet. Although out east they did have a dozen or so universities connected at that time.

For the life of me I cannot imagine why he didn’t want his grandmother to walk around her own basement. My grandparents were nothing but great. During summer vacations I would sleep in the basement (All the other rooms were taken). I would never imagine telling them they could not walk around their own basement. I just cannot. They housed me. Fed me. Spent time with me. Gave me construction work. Spent time fishing with me.
Spengler didn’t not give a true accounting of his reasons I believe. Now he is dead & he cannot. His girlfriend or a prostitute was there? He has a stash of narcotics there? Or was it that he just didn’t want his privacy invaded?

      We’ll never know.

I think Chris Matthews, Maddow, SoloMom Obrien, Mika, Joe Scarbrough, Bill Maher, Jon Stewart, all of MSNBC, NBC, CBS, ABC and CNN would disagree and say that it was better to keep that human piece of waste alive than to have the firefighters he later killed alive.

Absolutely. Some people commit a heinous crime, but they still have a conscious and the light of Christ can reach into the inner recesses of their soul and save them, usually because they have a lot of time to reflect on the consequences of their evil deed behind bars. Psychos cannot be fixed, no matter the earthly punishment. They are heavily demon-possessed and EMBRACE it, so they enjoy inflicting pain and killing from a young age. It wouldn’t surprise me one bit if this guy is responsible for some cold cases out there.

He was an ex-con, why did he have a gun in the first place???? Dear libs, all the “no gun” signs in the world would have stopped him. Also no “assault weapons ban” would have stopped him either. Maybe if you start keeping these people in prison or check up on them more… Stop blaming the guns, and do something that works. You libs are part of the problem and not part of the solution.

I always wondered why people will just get up one day and decide to kill other people. The human mind is strange. There is still a lot more we need to understand how people think and what influence their emotions.

I vote for he was not meeting Maslow’s hierarchy of needs. If that is not it I think the church has it covered in the 7 deadly sins.
I do not think that his motives were mysterious. I think they were pedestrian. After the fact who is going to say rage or jealousy got the better of them. They don’t want to admit such mundane reasons, so they don;t tell police investigator or the court. they keep mum. And so it is chalked up as a “mystery”.

Spengler was not telling. A prison psychiatrist cannot tell us. Unless it is a sensational crime, an investigative journalist is not going to interview family fiends, childhood friends, coworkers and be able to find out.
The cause was pedestrian in nature.

NO! We do not need to find out ‘why’ people do what they do! The first time someone kills another person we need to effectively take them out of society for ‘life’, or ‘kill’ them when warranted, due to the depravity of their heinous acts! This NEVER happens in the “STALINIST” controlled State of NY. The communist in ‘elected’ power exalt themselves over acts a violence; violent acts allow them to CRACK DOWN on ‘violence’ and re-tighten the shackles slowly choking ‘Liberty’ and ‘Freedom out of law abiding citizens. Get out of NY NOW before it’s completely transformed into a GULAG and your trapped. Most NY’s are ALREADY communists and they are NOT your friends!

Look at all of the money they saved by letting him out and off parole… Minus the lost firefighters and the houses. Granny probably damaged his self esteem. I think we have been warned that we are developing a “culture of death.” It sounded pretty overly dramatic the first time I heard it, but now I have to admit that if a life is inconvenient, it seems to be alright to kill it if you can’t hear it scream or if there is some kind of revenge angle to it. The worth of people seems to be what they can do for you and when they fail to be useful, get some new people. If people were money, we would be living in an economy of deflation.

The guy did 17 years for killing a family member and didn’t kill anybody else for 14 years after he was released. It’s just not realistic to expect that anybody should have been able to predict that a guy whose only previous homicide was against a family member over 30 years ago would start killing strangers after all this time.

Do not compare slime to evil-one is just a neutral thing, the other a fact of our existance, evil is alive and well and growing among those who do not believe in God. The foolish who believe in God, that do not acknowedge evil broght to us by satan’s influence, are kidding themselves
and there are many who do forget that one of the truths from the bible speaks of ALL things have opposits-good and evil are the epitomy. Merry Christmas to you and do not let evil destroy the great message of today, “For God so loved the world….”
