Piers Morgan: Both the Bible and U.S. Constitution Are ‘Inherently Flawed’ and Need to Be Amended

While CNN’s Piers Morgan is a well known critic of America’s Second Amendment, he has now ventured into a new campaign to reform another document critical in the development of western civilization; the Bible.

During a discussion on CNN’s “Piers Morgan Tonight” on Monday — Christmas Eve — with Saddleback Church Pastor Rick Warren, Morgan argued that there needs to be an “amendment to the Bible” for same-sex marriage, because like the Constitution, the Bible is “inherently flawed.”

“Both the Bible and the Constitution were well intentioned but they are basically, inherently flawed. Hence, the need to amend it,” Morgan told Warren during a conversation where Morgan emphasized the need for America to separate Church and State.

“My point to you about gay rights, for example, it’s time for an amendment to the Bible.”

“Uh, no,” replied Warren, in a conversation that remained civil between both parties. “Not a chance. What I believe is flawed is human opinion, because it constantly changes.”

Morgan has attracted more media attention than usual over the last few weeks as he has increased his always vocal cries for increased gun control laws in America following the Newtown elementary school shooting earlier this month. Morgan’s campaign has infuriated Second Amendment enthusiasts, leading to a petition to the White House signed by over 75,000 calling for the CNN host’s deportation back to Britain. This development led to a counter protest in the UK “Stop Piers Morgan from being deported back to the UK from America.”

Warren has debated LGBTQ issues on Morgan’s show before, discussing his thoughts with the host last November on whether or not someone can be born gay.

  That is just such an ignorant statement to make here as 2013 approaches. Claims that the Bible is flawed have been debunked soundly so often, it really is absurd for anyone not to be aware of this. But I kinda get it too; people are caught up in their busy lives and don’t have time to do in-depth research, or they feel like they don’t. I personally realized the stakes on this issue — heaven, hell, or the even worse doom of atheism — were way too big to just brush that aside and though I was tempted not to believe I spend ten years doing that homework.
  
  Long story short — the Bible has been proven true in many ways, and it is just not rational to believe otherwise. It’s true that on this issue, God’s revelation may not be entirely proven (although there have been some lines of investigation that are looking promising), but it’s certainly not disproven. It IS often very misunderstood, though; as “phobia” or “hate”, or just illogically ridiculed as “pray away”. (Genetics may cause temptation, but sin is choice.) But since on so many other issues, esp. unfakeable prophecies proving that the real beyond-time God inspired it, we know we can trust the Bible on other things; that’s the whole point of God giving us his Word, to help us learn important things that would be difficult for us to learn otherwise. :)

But when you look past all that, they worked hard at it, they never missed an opportunity to spread their message, they were never afraid it would be too preachy. No, just the opposite. And they’ve proven that it works.
  
  So, since good IS so much more powerful, because it makes perfect sense and it really genuinely helps everybody who adopts it, all we need to do is stand up and defend it. :)

It’s the petition to have him removed from the U.S.A. which has over 70,000 signators and is growing. He thinks he’s hit the ‘big time’. He’s so excited he’s trying to play pocket pool, but his shorts are to tight and cutting off his circulation, the reason for his goofy comments. It’s cramping his stile and his ‘thinking’ organ is being robbed of vital nutrients including oxygen.   The Bible was not finalized into its current form until the 16th Century and for most of the time the book of John’s Apocalypse (revelation) was not in the list of included books. And when you figure that it was a controversial book in its day because it took 1600 years or more to get it included. And not until the Roman Catholics included it in 1611 version of their bible did the rest of Christianity consider it a valid book.

  Not how it works — which “current form” are you referring to? All translations that we still have, and copies, are “current.”
  
  The Bible is the original Scripture that all the copies and translations come from. Not those copies and translations themselves. It never needed to be finalized because it was inspired directly from God. It was the final and perfect authority the moment any of its books were written down, and believers have known crystal clearly which writings were Scripture and which weren’t.
  
  Hopefully what you meant to talk about was the first time anyone put all Scripture into one physical book, or perhaps when all Scripture was given (that would be as soon as the last inspired author finished penning their book). Ultimately, God’s Word comes from the person of the Trinity who is also called the Word, and God’s beyond-time nature means that the whole thing was “foreknown” by God from the start, so it’s not even really something that is tied to time in terms of origins. Time’s only role is to mark certain stages along the way to it getting into our heads and hearts. :)

  I have a few suggestions for Mr. Morgan as to where he might be welcome: Zimbabwe, N. Korea, Nigeria, Egypt, Iran, and even the Congo. The dictators in those “Enlightened” nations would certainly welcome his anti-American views and rhetoric.

I also think our check and balance system is broken as well end the life time supreme court judges….As that court is nothing more than partisan players from both parties. Require strict and direct decision based on the actual text of the Constitution …not the creative interpeptation
  Our congressional system is full of life time politicians whose ultimate goal is bigger government….
  Junk the rules one term only in either house and you can still run for president in the future.
  And our executibe system is the most out of order full of unelected agencies creating laws and taxes without congressional approval, and an unconstitutional executive order where dictator like powers are being used to promote ideology and garner votes.

  I assume you’re just being sarcastic, but on the off-chance that you aren’t… you should probably be informed that the “Bill of Rights” are a bunch of amendments to the Constitution, which the term limits for supreme court justices are part of the original Constitution. Saying you want a strict interpretation of the Constitution and then saying “But I want a bunch of things done differently” is sort of cutting yourself off at the knees, you know?

  In the days before “civilization” these types “Liberals” were born but living by the decisions they made they generally didn’t live long enough to reproduce. This was known as natural selection. They were not fit mentally so they did not survive. But as people became “civilized” a great evil sprouted among the tribes. It was called “Tolerance”. Tolerance was adopted by the tribes and it enabled the liberal to not only survive, but by the kindness and guidance of others, actually thrived. When the “Liberal” made an unwise choice, lets say he used all of his corn to burn and make heat in the winter because he was afraid that cutting a tree would hurt it’s feelings & foul the air, the rest of the tribe would step in and give there corn so that he would not starve and even provided would to burn so that he would not freeze. Over thousands of years the liberal has come to expect this from others rather than accept it as charity intended. Tolerance became a way of life and then when it was determined that the liberal would never make sane decisions, so Tolerance became the law. By taking from others the liberal now feels superior as he can screw up over & over again but is never held accountable. The liberal survived, thrived and reproduced.   Marine25 , The biggest abomination of the Bible I’ve seen is this recent one ‘Queen’ James bible.
  The Bible warns us of these people ,they are called ‘false profits’ false teachers.
  Along with Liars and mocker . They will all have their share of the lake of fire.
  
  I suggest to people that if they don’t have a Hard Copy Bible .They need to get one soon.

  You’re right that this has happened. But neither interpreting the Bible nor translating are wrong, obviously. Just unsound interpretations and translations, like long-age interpretations of Genesis. In any case, we have enough evidence to clearly show what the original Bible (the books of it; this is all that is infallible, not translations or copies) was, and in most cases we have enough knowledge of the languages to clearly understand the meanings. This is true in all of the important areas.
  
  To me, if anyone is honest, rewriting is simply pointless. Either the Bible (the original) was inspired by the all-knowing, beyond-time God and thus is the most valuable text in existence, teaching us vital things about our future and what we need now (or rather who — Jesus!)…. Or it’s a fake, and instead of editing it, just throw it away! (One of the few things I agree with many atheists like Dawkins on, though he messes up by choosing wrongly between these two options.)
  
  Of course, there are also dishonest people in the world who wish to use it like they use any tool to service their selfish and self-destructive ambitions.

  Piers is a bit taken with himself. I don’t believe the Bible has really been modified since the Council of Carthage in 897 AD, when it was compiled from the various “non-apocryphal” sources. Even then, they didn’t do any “amending” of the books that were included. The apocryphal texts sank of their own weight, and if you’ve bothered to read some of them, you can understand why they didn’t make the cut. The Gospels remained as they were, as going back close the original texts shows there are really no changes to present day.
  
  Amusing that one might propose the amendment of the Bible, but that is the nature of contemporary popular culture. He sounds pretty silly.

P.Morgan is one of the problems of this nation. The misguided thinking of the enlightened and very European thinking. All the left keeps screaming about is the white European people and all the things they say happened which has been twisted and maligned thinking to begin with. They are following the bvery thing they say they hate, now that’s funny.

  You could only hope, but during the Revolutionary War, 500,000 white colonialist remained loyal to the Crown. That was around 20% of that group. Today, the left is not across the “Big Water”, it’s next door. The number of opposition would be much greater today. Standing for Conservatism as always is an uphill battle, that in the end, sooner or later, loses out. All we can hope to do is slow the tide.
  Society is progressive by nature, those that are not can be quickly pointed out on the map, mostly in North Africa, or thereabouts.

  Sooner than we think. The push to get you guns starts after the first of the year. It will follow the lines of an “Emergency Order”. The left has already shown that the constitution means nothing. It will be suspended as well. Once suspended the gloves come off and their restraints removed. That is the day that we become the hunted. Well, I mean everyone but Encinom.
