Report Claims Officials Who ‘Resigned’ Following Scathing Benghazi Report Never Even Left

Report: Officials Reprimanded Following Scathing Benghazi Report Just Sacrificial Lambs

The four Obama administration officials who reportedly “resigned” due to significant security failures leading up to the Sept. 11 terrorist attack in Benghazi, Libya are still on the State Department payroll, The New York Post reports. Further, the government employees might not even be out of work for long.

Assistant Secretary of State Eric Boswell has not “resigned” from government service and will merely be switching desks, according to officials. The other three officials were placed on administrative leave and are expected to return to work soon.

“The four were made out to be sacrificial lambs in the wake of a scathing report issued last week that found that the US compound in Benghazi, Libya, was left vulnerable to attack because of ‘grossly inadequate’ security,” The Post reports.

A source “close to the situation” told The Post that State Department leaders “didn’t come clean about Benghazi and now they’re not coming clean about these staff changes…[the] public would be outraged over this.”

State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland recently said Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton “has accepted Eric Boswell’s decision to resign as assistant secretary for diplomatic security, effective immediately.”

But as The Post points out, Nuland failed to mention that Boswell only gave up his position as assistant secretary, to which he was appointed by President Barack Obama. He will continue his role in the rest of his portfolios.

“The other officials — Deputy Assistant Secretaries Charlene Lamb and Raymond Maxwell, and a third who has not been identified — were found to have shown “performance inadequacies” but not “willful misconduct,” Pickering said, so they would not face discipline,” according to the report.

House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairwoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-Fla.) told The New York Post that this is “yet another ruse about the tragedy of Benghazi.”

“State Department officials proclaimed to the world that heads would roll after the deception related to the deceitful video excuse and the non existent spontaneous protest outside the consulate,” she added. “Now we see that the discipline is a lie and all that has happened is the shuffling of the deck chairs. That will in no way change what the ARB found to be systemic failures of management and leadership in the State Department.”

The Post reached out to the State Department for comment, but only received its “carefully crafted statement put out last week.”

Many outlets, including The Guardian, New York Times, Huffington Post, and Associated Press, reported that the officials “resigned” or were removed from their positions.

Four Americans, including U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens, were killed in Benghazi when armed terrorists raided the U.S. Mission in Libya. The attack was originally blamed on a protest sparked by an anti-Muslim YouTube video. However, an Accountability Review Board found that version to be completely false. The board’s report blamed the attack on terrorists alone and found there was not demonstration outside the U.S. Mission prior to the attack.

  Obama has to take care of his real fans or there will be revolt in the government ranks. When they step up like this for the president and have the regular brown nose and a brown racing stripe on each side of the nose he has to take care of them. Here is the problem, as I see it, The Obama has with his Administration. He has surrounded himself and filled his Administration with every foul and lying sack of godlessness. So that leaves no ‘average’ lifer that can replace any of his people. So, when one is actually found out to be a genuine Democrat, they must recycle. I’m quite sure that who ever replaces these people will be JUST as incompetent yet beyond loyalty to The Obama. There is not a single individual that would work for or with or even support The Obama that doesn’t live in the ‘brood of vipers’ pit.

  If only 1/3rd of the people who signed a petition to remove Piers Morgan from his television show would call their congressman tomorrow and/or Monday and demand to know “Who gave the order to STAND DOWN in Benghazi?” we’d see some movement on this scandal. Instead, people dilute their anger by talking “amongst themselves” about each and every news item that catches their attention.

Is anyone really surprised at this? this IS the Left… say what you think the people want to hear, behave the way you want to behave, and blame anyone and everyone else when the people object.

there is no sword to fall on for these people… just blame shifting and the shell game of climbing the political ladder… the same sort of thing they accuse businesses of doing, but for them, the ends justify the means, and THEY aren’t meant to live like we peons, they are to be the exalted priviliged few, telling the rest of us what to think and how to live.

47% care and the rest don’t. The Administration lies and no matter what is said, it is a lie .. No outcry because the Obamzombies have no idea what their life is becoming. They just want the freebies. Second, Congress has no b@lls to do anything. The Dems loves this turmoil and the RINOs are like the Zombies, just there for the free stuff. Congress does not care what happens to this contry, they just are happy being Obama’s lackeys.

Benghazi is a dead subject, our troops in Africa, and middle East is a “secret”. Remember Obama told us no Boots in Africa.

The Administration is more interested in giving away parts of the US… Obama is giving away oil rich islands in Alaska, he also is pressuring Congress not to act on getting money from Iran for the 200+ dead marines in Beirut that the courts say that Iran i liable.

Gee, no sh/t? Not like many of us here said about the same thing regarding the original story here. I believe that I referred to what my uncle said. He was one of the investigators within the Americal Division in Viet Nam regarding the My Lai incident. He said that LT Calley was a “scapegoat.” I say the same thing about these guys.

  Unfortunately- most of the public will not even hear about this or will just take it as business as usual. They did not demand answers on Fast and Furious. They pay no attention to the things the Attorney General does and does not address. They just go along their merry way oblivious to what is going on. Not sure what, if anything, will wake them up…
