As some make their way back home from the holidays, others commute back to work and some venturing outside to beat cabin fever, it is clear that holiday cheer is wearing thin for many of those being blasted by the latest snow storm moving across the country and now targeting the Northeast.
The storm, which began Christmas Day for many, continued Thursday bringing more snow and driving rain to the area after already making its way through the Midwest. Arkansas, for example, saw a record dumping of snow.
Here are 11 pictures of people who look miserable while battling the snow that has dumped more than a foot of powder in some areas:
The storm, which was blamed for nine deaths, pushed through the Upper Ohio Valley and made its way into the Northeast Wednesday night. By Thursday morning, there was anywhere from a few inches of snow to a foot in some locations.
National Weather Service spokesman David Roth said the Northeast’s heaviest snowfall would be in northern Pennsylvania, upstate New York and inland sections of several New England states before the storm ended Friday morning and headed to Canada. The East Coast’s largest cities – New York, Philadelphia and Boston – were seeing mostly high winds and rain Thursday morning. Other areas were getting a messy mix of rain and snow or just rain – enough to slow down commuters and those still heading home from visits with family. Thousands of travelers were trying to make it home Thursday after the fierce storm stranded them at airports or relatives’ homes around the region. Some inbound flights were delayed in Philadelphia and New York’s LaGuardia, but the wet and windy weather wasn’t leading to delays at other major East Coast airports.
We don’t want to leave you on a sour note, though, because many are still on Christmas break or scheduled vacation. So we thought we’d point out here are those who are absolutely loving the winter weather.

Dec. 27, 2012 at 1:59pmI don’t like a lot of snow. A light snow once or twice a year is fine with me. God bless the South.

Dec. 27, 2012 at 11:23amI love it! How about some pictures of people looking miserable under ObamaCare? Visiting IRS for an audit? Getting their Driver’s License renewed (although I really cannot complain about our Virginia DMV, and New York was very responsive as well, when you consider the scope of their work!) How about a visit to a Food Pantry, compared with those munching on Food Stamps? Maybe if we followed around those on the dole, a pattern would emerge that would separate the truly needy from the greedy!

Dec. 27, 2012 at 11:05amInteresting and sad commentary on “miserable.”
Most of those pictures are of people under an umbrella, and you can’t see their heads, let alone their expressions. How does that automatically translate into “miserable” except to someone who has a pessimistic outlook already? I think it was the photographer more than the subjects of the photos who was miserable.
Even the full-face photo of Thompson blowing snow doesn’t look particularly miserable to me. Cold, perhaps, but miserable? I probably looked much like that myself Christmas morning as I was clearing the snow off of the driveway, but I was definitely not miserable.

Dec. 27, 2012 at 10:09amGood thing they are not up near Ft Drum. The never ending wind chill would make that stunt very uncomfortable. The wind forces the limbs of any stand alone tree grow toward the east.

Dec. 27, 2012 at 9:42amKids sure know how to make the best of things, eh? God bless them!
The trash-bag guy and the bridge crosser are not NY “natives” – they’d been better prepared than with a trashbag or a pee-coat (crossing a frozen bridge in a pee-coat? Probably has a job interview, and we all know how hard those are to come by nowadays…).
Bless them all.
