Scientists have reportedly been asked to search for an “evil” gene in the DNA of Adam Lanza, the 20-year-old who killed his mother before he opened fire at Sandy Hook Elementary School, slaughtering 20 children and six adults.
The study, which will be the first of its kind involving a mass murderer, will try to detect any abnormalities in Lanza’s individual DNA, The Daily Mail reports.
Connecticut Medical Examiner H. Wayne Carver, who performed all the autopsies on the Sandy Hook victims, reportedly ordered the DNA analysis. He will conduct the study with the help of geneticists at the University of Connecticut.

Some researches say that some DNA mutations are known to be associated with aggressive and possibly violent behavior.
More from The Daily Mail:
Geneticists said they are likely looking at Lanza’s DNA to detect a mutation or abnormality that could increase the risk of aggressive or violent behavior.
They could [analyze] Lanza’s entire genome in great detail and try to find any unexpected mutations.
Arthur Beaudet, a professor at Baylor College of Medicine, said the University of Connecticut geneticists are most likely trying to ‘detect clear abnormalities of what we would call a mutation in a gene’.
He added: ‘Or gene abnormalities and there are some abnormalities that are related to aggressive behavior.
‘They might look for mutations that might be associated with mental illnesses and ones that might also increase the risk for violence.
However, Beaudet said there is a risk that people with similar genetic characteristics could potentially be discriminated against if there are significant findings. Still, he added, the research into Lanza’s DNA could be important even if just a “fraction” have an abnormality or mutation.
“Not all of these people will have identifiable genetic abnormalities,” Beaudet cautioned during an interview with ABC News.
“By studying genetic abnormalities we can learn more about conditions better and who is at risk and what might be dramatic treatments,” he continued.
Police have not identified a motive for Lanza’s killing spree. He was described by peers as a loner but was not known to have violent tendencies.

Dec. 28, 2012 at 9:46amGun free zones makes bravery a worthless commodity. It is just another devaluation of life within our community. It is just as easy to say these teachers were cowards because they chose to be killed rather than watch the rest of the rampage. These people’s lives were not worth the anxiety of the unknown and difficult-to-calculate hazards of having immediate access to an adequate, not necessarily equal, response to evil. Calling them “heroes” may give some the warm fuzzies, but to me, they were just random sacrifices on the alter of Liberal malice and mismanagement.

Dec. 28, 2012 at 1:22pm@Dnewton…..if I may piggyback a bit…..the largest abortion facility in the Pittsburgh Metro area has armed guards protecting the now pregnant but not for much longer “clients” ingress and egress. Which is fine I suppose….I mean assuming that few of the clients are carrying multiple fetuses…..at least half of the living things that enter the building…..make their way out through the same door alive….the other less fortunate half leave either via the sewer pipes or in a BIO WASTE box. I wonder how the gun bashers or “hero worshipers” would put that Pittsburgh clinic’s story in any kind of lucid light? Don’t worry…they won’t because they can’t.

Dec. 28, 2012 at 9:18amI think you are right about that. They might line kids up and test for the evil gene. They might be eventually placed in precautionary penal colonies but, to start out, they will just publish their addresses and treat them as potential sex offenders or worst yet, gun owners. You can’t buy a gun without proving you don’t have the evil gene. Of course, a lot more money will have to go to the schools for all of this activity. Who ever thought that saving the children would deteriorate into saving the children from the children? Maybe we should not allow anyone to legislate who has an evil gene?

What really dumbfounds me is that these idiots that want to analyze his DNA don’t realize that ALL PEOPLE have a dark side and dark thoughts, the types of choices we make determine if we are good or bad people. The explanation for his actions is quite simple, he didn’t posses a strong enough conscience and anger coping skills to refrain from carrying out this vicious attack.
This is both a parenting and a personal choice problem.
That little turd could have gone for a walk, worked on a hobby, gone fishing or went to see a movie that day, had he been properly taught or cared about his own anger management.

Respect for life
Respect for personal freedom

Sadly this doesn’t work in the world that has been formed, most likely by design. The only option we have as always is to choose what we know is right, and that would not be eugenic in nature.

Adam Lanza was socialized wrong.
Have you seen 99% of people spend any time with the disabled in school?
I didn’t think so.
NOVA on PBS had a story about a “warrior gene”. The author/scientists of the piece had it. Obviously he has not kiIIed anyone . He must have been socialized right.
I saw a story where pet shelters socialize kittens. They have to be have some form & so much interaction with people in the 1st 2 weeks of life or they will not take to people.
Was Adam Lanza properly socialized? Did people spend time with him?
Did they tease him? Ding! Ding! Ding!
Some of us do not wonder at all what happened.
