A baby is more of a health hazard to humans than a dog.

I never caught a cold, std or the flu from a dog.

If you really think about it, consider the “play area” of the baby- the floor.

The floor is the place where carpeting has been laid down, which emits toxic fumes which can cause a myriad array of health issues, and holds onto fallen food debris and everything else that works down into the fibers.

Also remember that those smelly socks you wear rubs across the area in which the baby crawls across, as well.

One other point: studies have shown that small children who are allowed contact to pets on a regular basis are more likely to have fewer allergies when grown up.

And don’t forget: depending on the dog, they can be great playmates for your child. Believe me, anything that keeps your kid engrossed for just ten minutes, means ten minutes to take care of other tasks around the house, or to just get your legs up.

Your child will have no immune system if you protect it from every stupid thing. Besides, take a look at the dog. It’s in beautiful condition. Many more germs in a humans mouth than a dogs. Glad you weren’t MY parent. There is no greater joy than a dog!

Studies show that children who grow up with animals have less illness. The animals bring in germs the baby’s immune system detects it and builds up an immune response. So less illness. Simple.

Just like when your child gets an immunization they are intentionally injecting a small amount of the germ so the child builds up a resistance and won’t catch the disease.

Nilo is Olin spelled backwards. Olin Industries of Alton, Illinois (my home as a child) also had a hunting preserve in Ga called Nilo Farms & they raised world class Labrador Retrievers. Yrs later in Az, I bought a Lab puppy whose grand daddy was “Nilo Possibility” a dual champion!!! Too bad you are so anal about dogs & germs. A life without a dog is an empty existence. There is no other animal on the face of God’s green earth that is a perfect companion for we humanoids!!!!

All good – I love dogs. I just haven’t been able to get over the death of my best animal friend back in ’86, and we haven’t had a dog since. He was brilliant, learning to recognize both hand and verbal instruction. In a cul de sac full of kids, he ended up on my porch as a puppy and would not go away for two days. So one day, on my day off, Mrs. Woodyee came home for lunch and found me with the pup inside the house. I said “Can we keep him?”, and we were buddies ever since.

But as much as I loved him, I would never do as some do today, and equate him with a human. Some folks go around calling their dog their “child” or our “children”. THAT is sick.

    God rest my little friend.

I agree…..dogs are NOT human and should not be viewed as such. I also lost a best friend when my Husky had to be put down when he developed cancer so I know all about strong attachments to pets. I was heart broken when he died and still miss him to this day. Still I have misgivings about people who allow their dogs to lick all over baby’s face and hands. Personally, I would not want my dog licking a child of mine after the dog had just got through licking his own rear end…….that’s something that just makes me cringe.

To begin, I am a breeder of Std Poodles & have been for over 14 yrs. Before my wife caused me to fall in love w/the breed, I raised & trained Labs as companions & hunting for over 20yrs. My heart is with you concerning the love you had for your buddy & I could not be without a dog in my life. Do yourself a favor & get another canine companion – - you will live longer! Yeah & I call my 4 Std’s “the girls” “the kids” & my babies & we give each other “kisses” daily & @ 77, I am in very good health, thank you!! I know & have become friends with 2 couples in Lk Havasu, Az thru my avocation as a Std Poodle breeder. One couple had lost their Lab to old age & because of their friends who lost their 2 Stds some 6 or 7 yrs before & how much they loved the breed, the 1st couple came up & bought a pup from me. Thing is, the couple that had lost their Std’s were so afraid to get another due to the hurt they felt for their loss. Well – - – when the couple came back home with their new black male puppy, the other couple called & came up 4 days later & went home with the brother! They have spoken & emailed often to thank me for such a wonderful boy!!! Get yourself a dog & better the better for it!!!

She even grabbed him by the pants when he was 3 cause he was almost fixing to reach down where a copperhead snake was.She died when he was 8 and we all cried when she died. Miss that Dog

It’s obvious the dog adores the baby, but dogs don’t have any clue about restraint. All he has to do is roll over on the child, and the baby suffocates or is crushed. I love dogs, but I’d never put my child at risk this way.

I spent my early years with wolves. My mother raised and bred them before she got married and kept two when they moved. They would play with me all the time, in fact they were very protective. If they ran off all my parents had to do was put me in the yard and walk away and the wolves would come back to watch after me. They know restraint. Why do you think he licked the kid so gently?

I couldn’t agree with you more. I have 2 dogs of my own who are very people friendly but they have been taught to stay away from toddlers, infants, my bird, as well as any of the ‘stuff’ belonging to those I listed. Here’s a trip down memory lane of a dog who was described as a gentle dog as this one before attacking their child.

Great Danes are guardian dogs. They are ultra protective of their ‘pack’ especially kids. Not all are bred to improve the breed (body and temperament). If they are you end up with very beautiful, gentle, loving, protective additions to your family. I bred them for a while, and loved them entirely. They can scent, do agility, traverse anywhere you go, guard, etc…. Very smart dogs, also cute and sweet. They are not high energy or big on barking unless to warn you. My favorite picture was of my 18 month old nephew standing under the head of one of my brindle males, one hand on the dogs chest (for balance) the other tapping his name tag back and forth, this went on for 1/2 hour or so, the dog stood like a post without moving. If you know GD’s you’d even get from that video, the dog didn’t understand the camera, he kept moving to intercept it getting closer to the baby. I never worried about my kids with our dogs, or worried about others around my kids with the dogs, if anyone acted threatening the dog would stand, body crossways in front of ‘their kid’, to keep the aggressive person away, and emit a very low grumble (that is scary to hear) as warning to back away. Once my hubby and I were ‘speaking loudly’ and with frustration, the dog barred the doorway, a wide doorway, so that we could not go in the room with the kids until we calmed down

EXACTLY! The chances of the dog passing any serious germ to the child is very low, and indeed the child’s immune system will be stronger for being exposed to the dog. As well the chances the dog will roll over on the child and hurt him in any serious way are infinitesimal. What whimps!

Dogs and children go together. I have many photos of all the family kids climbing all over my now deceased Rottie Samson. He is in Heaven in the photos, surrounded by a half dozen niece’s and nephews lying with him on his dog bed in the den.

And that dog would lay down his life, without hesitation, to protect that child. All you nanny state ninny’s need to get over your phobia. That was an awesome video and makes me miss Samson even more. That dog and that child are lucky to have each other.

God spelled backwards is dog, God gave us these loyal animals as pets to help protect us, I have always believed. In our family our dog~family member has problems, and we are also faced with the dilemma similar to the story on here about a month ago the Beck family is facing with their dog Victor. Frazzle is ours, an 11 year old german shepard that has trouble with his left hip, but will still take his ball to our youngest to throw for him. She is only 4 and doesn’t why we only let her throw his ball only a couple times, as he moans and groans to retrieve it, and would probably continue untill he dropped. There is nothing more pure, and no greater connection than dogs and the children they love.

The first child, you boil everything that comes into contact with the baby. The second child drops his pacfier and you lick it and give it back. You can see the older child on the couch with dad. I had a stray border collie wander into our yard one time, when my youngest as only about 22 months old. He went running towards a busy street and this border collie, who didn’t even know us (I was waiting for my older son to get off the bus) ran and cut him off (herded him) so he didn’t get out of the yard. Needless to say,we kept the border collie.

Awesome story. Gave me goose bumps. I have a border collie/german shepherd mix and she is uber-smart. Will always have one ’til my last days on earth.

As for the video, my pit bull would do the same with my granddaughter when she was a baby. I’ve never seen such large dog tip toe and lay so softly and gently down. Each time the baby made a squeak noise, Bumble would put her nose near her face just to make sure all was right then rest back down, never fully sleeping. I have a Great Dane and trust me, they are very protective over the family, especially babies. Scooby may be big but when he is around that baby he knows his size. I have a female Great Dane that is about 115 pounds and is VERY ACTIVE. However, when she gets around children and especially children with disabilities….she is extremely careful and gentle. I never taught her this, she just picked it up on her own.

Oh man, stop being so anal!!! I am 77, have been around dogs all of my life & have been a breeder for a total of over 35 yrs. I fathered 5 children & all of them were around dogs since birth & never had any problems at all. One of my daughters has 2 of my Std Poodles from 2 different lines so as to be a breeding pair. Well, she gave birth to a little boy on Nov 29th & after she got home with him, she took a photo of the baby leaning against Sampson’s tummy whilst lying on his side, head up in an elegant stance when the baby was 5 days old!! Then she took another photo of the baby in nearly the same pose, except the baby was looking up to Sampson’s face & the female, Delilah was lying on the other side of the baby head up!!!! I have often referred to my Std’s as ‘Gorgeous Gentle Giants’ when advertising & these photos sure showcase that fact!!!!!

Muslims don’t like dogs, because their prophet Mohammad said dogs were unclean.
In Islamic countries, dogs are not allowed inside the house.
Dogs are only used to herd livestock and as watchdogs.

I truly believe, this is why Muslims are so angry and hate Americans.
They have never experienced the unconditional love of a dog.
A dog’s love can soften the hardest heart.

They do tend to be pretty mellow and easy-going. Only breed I’ve found that’s more family friendly is the labrador retriever. They’re specifically bred to avoid damaging the animal they’re meant to retrieve.

That means they won’t typically fight you for food or bite too hard on anything. I’ve seen babies pull treats and food from a lab’s mouth, sit on them, tug on sensitive ears, tails, etc. and the lab just takes it.

I’ve seen them growl and push children away from adults who behaved agressively, but never seen one bite a human in anything more than playfulness. They’re terrible “guard dogs”, as they don’t have the temprament to attack. They’re terrific watch dogs, because they’ll bark and they sound like a big, scary dog.

Our lab is aggressively affectionate. You simply can’t pet her enough. If you stop, she’ll shove her cold wet nose against your skin or nudge you with her nose or start “petting” you until you pay attention.

People with pets have children with fewer allergies. Introducing things like pet dander to children builds their immunities to that sort of thing. Still don’t care much for cats, though. They carry salmonella. And they’ll crap right next to where they eat. That tells you everything you need to know about that animal.

Dogs will always seek to crap as far from where they eat as possible. Good animals.

      Jaycen..

one of my first dogs was a golden retriever named Last Chance, because they never thought he’d make it. we got him from the dog officer 1 town over from us.

the story goes 2 people had a bet they could turn him mean. they hit him in the head with a hammer, so he was blind in one eye. they starved him. they shot him repeatedly with a BB gun. eventually the dog officer found him and rescued him. they never did turn him mean. there wasn’t a mean bone in him. we had him for 12 years, and he had a seizure and died. he never growled at anyone, and he loved kids and people in general. to him, everyone was a best friend he just hadn’t met yet.

too bad there aren’t more people with that attitude.

We have a 13 year old black Lab. Not an attack dog but a great watch dog. She will bark at any sound that is not typical house noise. Maggie has a really deep bark. She lays in our bedroom doorway all night to protect us. Like your Lab, all she wants is to run, fetch and be pet.

    Facts:

    1. Dogs carry a lot of bacteria and other nasties in their mouths.
    2. Babies do not have well developed immunities.
    3. This is not good hygiene.

I find it interesting that this was a Black dog and a White baby. What’s the message here? Sure it’s a cute video, but I’m an expert from long years of study at a major university of things like this.

I’d query you: what the message BENEATH, the message? And what’s the message beneath even that message?! Use your brains folks, Obama is behind this, and there are layers upon layers upon layers of subliminal manipulation behind this “cute” video, as there are behind most so called viral videos.

You are being mentally manipulated beneath the conscious level of your existence by these videos. If you wish our country to be free, and you wish to live your life as an autonomous human bean, you must become aware of the manipulation your are being subjected to by current administration through the social media. Please, free yourself! See these videos for what they are! They are cleverly designed to manipulate your mind and move toward altruism and the belief that you should empathize with one other, which Ayn Rand said was a sin, if not the greatest sin.

“Cute” doesn’t provide for your happiness, despite what these videos are trying to convey to the stupid, the ignorant and the uneducated. You’re smart enough to see the purpose these videos serve in Obama’s plan. President Obama, we are not the idiots you think we are.

Do you think Georgie Soros is going to pay for their PTSD treatment after any residual goodness, human empathy and creativity are all used up in the unnatural quest to put down those they think they disagree with? I wonder if it is worth the pay to find out that through the process of attacking Conservatives, in the end, you’ve become a nasty human being? When they grow older and bitter from their forced ridicule and attacks upon fellow human beings do you think it will seem worth the quixotic war with a fabricated enemy?

The left uses people up and grinds them down then discards them when they have outlived their usefulness. Do you think that these young people will ever wake up from their university brainwashing by the legions of evil, liberal professors and realize that they got it completely and horribly wrong? Maybe. But probably far too late. Maybe too late for all of us. Things are not always what they seem. They are NEVER what they seem in liberal America. Simplicity is the key. Truth is simple and straight forward. Lies and deceit are always tortuously complicated. Will they find out too late that hate is their true master behind clever masks? Hate and intolerance are quickening and on the march and nowadays it flies the liberal flag. It’s that small quiet voice which needs to be heard but is very often drowned out by the scream of herd mentality and political correctness. Thinking for one’s self is becoming a lost art.

Having a dog in the house can only enrich the child’s life! And no, they don’t carry bacteria or germs as long as they are not allowed to roam free endlessly outdoors. They are cleaner than humans. Dogs are simply amazing and have a clear capacity to nurture and well – I believe -Love..

I agree ! ! I will never forgive myself for having given up my dog. I was going to take him with me to Australia when I got married, but found out they make the dog go through TON’s of shots, then also quarantine him for 30 days after getting into the country. It was ridiculous, and he was such an emotional dog, I was sure the process would have killed him, no joke. My mother said she would take him so I didn’t worry, for he loved her and I had rented a place with her for some years before I had left. Well, a month before I was to leave, she decided she was going to move up to my an apartment under my sister, where she couldn’t have dogs. Took me a long time to forgive her for that. Well, I found a young couple, who I had thought was perfect for him. I Called them when I was away and they talked about how much they loved him and how great he was. Well, the marriage didn’t work out and I Came back early. To his surprise, I seen him at church the first Sunday I returned, and he kinda dodged me. I was afraid maybe my dog had died. OD course I couldn’t take him back. Well, like you said, she got pregnant , and supposedly became allergic to him. He also said Tubby became un-house trained. So they took him to humane society of all places.Fortunately, he was a little cute dog, and he was taken with in 3 days. How about later that year, the idiot who had my dog, forgot he had his baby with him at the mall. By the time he remembered, the cops were already there. He got charged.

You do have to be a liberal (but not a classical liberal now know as a Libertarian) to believe that you have the right to destroy another human life. A child in the womb is exactly that, a child. They have a heart beat, they have a unique genome just like you, and they even have the capacity to interact with their surroundings. As long as medicine continues to make forward progress, a “fetus” will continue to become an “infant” to people like you at an earlier and earlier stage of his/her development because we will have the capacity to raise that child outside the womb earlier and earlier. Hell, I bet that soon, we’ll have the ability to raise children without the necessity of a mother’s womb at all. Now, that is wholly unnatural and quite frankly disturbing, but it is the reality we will live in. And when we do, you will no longer be able to convince small minded people that a person is not a person.

What a load of BS SGTB, there are plenty of people on the right who are happy for people to decide whats best for themselves, and dont believe we have a right to tell other peole whats best for them, just as there are people on the left who dont think abortion is okay. The fact that you believe that political persuasion decides your policy on abortion shows just how short sighted and out of touch people like you are. So according to you and most others on the right its never okay to take a human life, but its always the majority on the right that thinks war is Ok, its always the majority on the right who are happy to say its only blacks killing blacks or muslims killing muslims so who cares. On top of that you lot are the first ones to whinge about single mothers and welfare payments etc, and about poor parenting etc. So your policy is that once pregnant every baby should be born but once its born its every baby for themselves, no welfare, no help at all. I could go on but why bother the fact is that you and most other anti abortionists are nothing but F&^%$#@ hyprocrites.

Depends on your paradigm of right and left. By parties, the Republican base is pro-life, but we’ve got a growing number of neo-libs/libertarians who are moral anarchists, as well as the usual RINOs, which means that about one-third of so-called Republicans are now pro-choice. Still, you can’t be Republican and be pro-abortion.

Some Dims are pro-life, but all liberals are pro-abortion. They actively promote the murdering of babies. Obama is pro-abortion, and the party base espouses pro-abortion policies.

I don’t get your position. Are you against war, but upset that Muslims kill each other? So you want us to intervene or not? Which is it?

Let’s keep this on the straight and narrow. Dogs are not a “gift from God”. They are the product of thousands of years of selective breeding on the part of human beings. Just like our other domesticated livestock. In many parts of the world, dogs were breed not for their companionship, nurturing behavior, or protective behavior, but for their meat and sport. Ever wondered were the term “chow down” comes from? Hint, it involves the chow chow breed, which was bred for meat.

Even if you see it that way, in the present age it is pure SAVAGERY to eat dogs. Dogs are domesticated mammals that are bred by the free world as pets and viewed as man’s best friend, given their loyalty, protective nature and high intelligence. Therefore, they should not be bred for meat. Incidentally, most societies that eat dogs also violate human rights, or did so until recently.
