Dem. Rep. Compares GOP Leaders to Psychopaths: It’s Like ‘I’m Going to Shoot My Child’ if I Don’t Get What I Want

If you’re confused as to why U.S. lawmakers have made no progress in coming up with a deal to avert the so-called “fiscal cliff,” a combination of tax increases and deep spending cuts set to take effect next year unless Congress comes up with a budget plan, it might have to do with the fact that both parties deeply dislike and distrust each another.

Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-MD), for example, while criticizing Republicans leaders for using the nation’s debt limit as a tool in budget negotiations, compared them to a psychotic parent who would use the life of their child as a bargaining chip.

“It’s somewhat like taking your child hostage and saying to somebody else, ‘I’m going to shoot my child if you don’t do what I want done.’ You don’t want to shoot your child. There’s no Republican leader that wants to default on our debt — that I’ve talked to — so that ought to be non-partisan,” Hoyer said.

Rep. Hoyer lambasted GOP leaders for opposing an increase in the debt limit, arguing that similar increases in the past have made it possible for the U.S. to “pay its bills.”

    Waitaminnit…

The Republicans are willing to let us all be screwwed because of the belief that our problems are spending based.

The Democrats and the Occupant in Chief are willing to let us all be screwwed if they don’t get to screw those that make more than they think someone should make.

Now, who are the psychopaths that are like ‘I’m Going to Shoot My Child’??

The fiscal cliff cuts still are not enough, real cuts are needed, not just cuts in the automatic budget increases that occur every year. We are taxed enough, plus the House better not fold and vote to increase the debt limit. They must dig in with their heels and force the Senate to get off their rear ends and vote on what the House has sent them.

Last fall Boehner secretly negotiated with President Lucy, our 1st female president (Clinton was our 1st black president).
Boehner put 800 billion in increased taxes on the table. When Boehner thought a deal was near, President Lucy doubled down & asked for 1.6 billion in new taxes.
President Lucy Obama reneged on the deal just like Lucy takes away the football time after time. And like Lucy, Obama thinks the world of himself.

The Fiscal cliff may make top general brave vis-a-vis Congressional leader. Whenever a congress adds to a Defense request for Green energy or to protect job/local manufacturer, they may push back hard.

It is hard to have competition with so few manufacturers of defense products. Most payment for large equipment is down on a cost plus basis. You can count shipyards on one hand. That is a very narrow industrial base, which is dangerous. It needs to be addressed, but it is not. It get remedied in part by Congress protecting jobs in their district, but it does not address the subject directly & forthrightly.

This entire event is theater. As the demcrats like to say, “elections have consequences”. The repulican controlled house passed a budget in May 2012. They sent the budget to the senate where, if the leadership would do their job, would pass their own budget. It then goes to conference where a final budget can be agreed upon to send to the president. That’s the process. And the fact that the process has not been followed is proof that this “cliff” is a manufactured version of “it’s the GOP’s fault if we go over the fictional “cliff”. Such BS, if Reid would do his duty bound constitutional job there would be no “cliff”.

I made this “psychopath comparison” weeks ago, after Obama began the negotiations by threatening to send the US economy over a cliff if his remands weren’t met. It’s obama who’s acting like the psychopath here. In fact, you can go all the way back to the summer to find the prominent Democrats making threats of sending the nation over the cliff if their demands aren’t met.

I’m not surprised that the person who gets the label “psychopath” in the media are the Republicans, though. The media is their propaganda arm.

It’s mind-boggling how “in the dark” even those “in the loop” are to what this country has been reduced to.

Even the young people who are well informed and give a darn were scorned by the republican party because they supported a person who was too much of a strict Constitutionalist. There is no pleasing the republican crowd when it comes to young people….They call young people either too apathetic or too idealistic and blame them for all the problems.

To me, the people who should be blamed are the ones who have been voting for the last 20 years and nominated progressive RINOs and have watched this country fall apart.

The first problem is the Dem misconception that we “pay” our bills. Does Rep Hoyer think paying the minimum balance of $20 on a $2000 Visa bill means the bill has been paid?

Raising the debt limit is the same concept. Borrow more, owe more, then move the Visa balance to MasterCard (the Fed buying US debt) and tell yourself you’re better off.

Agree. And like they did with the economic disaster caused by their “Affordable ( wink, wink, LIE/LIE) Housing Act ,” they will blame the results on the banks and on capitalism. These radical Democrats aren’t stupid : they are out to destroy our capitalist system. They truly are economic terrorists BUT they OCCUPY our White House , our congress, and our media. And like Rules For Radicals taught them, they are using the system to “change ” ( wink, wink ) the system. Period.

      Right on.
In the scenario of my post at the bottom —-
WE THE PEOPLE are the CEOs of the company.
The idiots in DC are the CFOs on the spending rampage.

      They are LITERALLY Economic Terrorists.

Worse. A psychotic dumb@ss who happens to also be A DOMESTIC ECONOMIC TERRORIST.

      Example:
Lets say you own a company. The CFO of your company goes on a spending rampage even though
sales are down in the weak economy. You meet with the CFO and explain that the company cannot afford the expenditures in the current environment. He/She needs to stop all the purchasing and extra unnecessary expenditures immediately or the company will be in trouble financially pretty quickly.
You receive the expense reports and balance sheets the next week and realise that the CFO completely IGNORED everything you said in the meeting and continues on the previous course ——- spending the company’s reserves into oblivion and running up the company’s reserve accounts to astronomical levels.

Thats the current situation in a nutshell.
