Even if Congress manages to come up with a solution to avert the “fiscal cliff,” a combination of year-end tax increases and spending cuts, it won’t be worth anything because it’ll probably only deal with tax rates and ignore the problem of runaway government spending, or so say Texas Congressman and former presidential candidate Ron Paul.
“I think we have passed that point of no return where we can actually get our house in order,” Rep. Paul said Friday on CNBC. “I believe there is too much bipartisanship on the spending. Nobody is talking about cutting any spending.”
“Republicans and Democrats,” he continued, “they pretend they’re fighting up there, but they really aren’t. They’re arguing over power, spin, and who looks good, and who looks bad, but they’re all trying to preserve this system where they can spend what they want, take care of their friends, and let the Fed print money when they need it.”
However, that’s not to say Rep. Paul doesn’t believe U.S. lawmakers will come up with temporary solutions to things like the “cliff.”
“[It’ll be] sort of like — how many times have they had a ‘solution’ for the Greece crisis? About ten or 15 times?” the congressman asked, referring to the eurozone’s most unstable and financially broken member.
“There’s no admission that they [U.S. lawmakers] have a crisis. They have no admission that the country is bankrupt. There’s no admission that our government is spending way too much and it’s way beyond our means and there’s not a single bit of effort to cut anything,” the congressman continued.
“They are so they so far removed from admitting the seriousness of this crisis and if they don’t admit it, they can’t solve the problem. They’re like a bunch of drug addicts that just want another fix. That’s what they are looking for,” he concluded:

Dec. 29, 2012 at 10:40amLet’s forget the President–he is a lost cause! But, spending bills ORIGINATE in Congress (NOT THE Senate, Harry)! Congress gets elected every 2 years, the President every 4 and the Senate every 6! So, let’s get organized and CLEAN HOUSE! Make our Congressional candidates SIGN A PLEDGE, punishable by REMOVAL FROM OFFICE and FORFEITURE OF ANY BENEFITS! Cut spending–OR ELSE you’re OUT! Real cuts, not just a slow-down in growth! It may take 4 or 5 elections, but I think if we can regain control of Congress (we the people, not just any old affinity group)! And, one of the steps is that ANY attempt to ORGANIZE GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES FOR ANY PURPOSE MUST BE ILLEGAL–and that includes labor unions! the next step is that ANY ATTEMPT to corner or control the market for jobs (again, mandatory participation in a union with forced dues), MUST BE ILLEGAL! Unions, where they exist, should ONLY BE FOR THE PURPOSE of FACILITATING good relations with MANAGEMENT–their EMPLOYER! All funds collected MUST be spent in the same fiscal year–and spent LOCALLY for the benefit of the LOCAL MEMBERS! No lobbying, no supporting political candidates, no bribes or payments for special favors! Then, we MUST TACKLE WELFARE, as it has suffered MISSION CREEP! Who doesn’t want to help the least amonst us? But that least is the 1% (or maybe 3%) we ought to be focused on– NOT the 1% at the opposite end of the economic spectrum! It shouldn’t be the 48% of our population on some form of assist

Dec. 29, 2012 at 10:58amSalamander, you are absolutely correct in what you are saying. All we can do is pray for a miracle for our country. With the help of the schools making most of us functionally illiterate, half of our country is now uninformed and gullible. This fictitious wealth based on debt and benefits from a false trust in our currency and credit, will play havoc with our society when the bills come due. This means that the full consequence of our lost liberties is yet to be felt.”

Dec. 29, 2012 at 12:06pmWhen you cut through all of the crap, what we are really talking about is, what kind, and how free, of a society do you want to leave your children. Do you want your children to live in a society where they do not, can not, make decisions for themselves? Do you want to leave them a society that rewards failures, losers, and the lazy, by taking from the hard-working, successful, and energetic?
If you say yes to the above, then your children will live in a failed banana republic, because others around the globe will choose differently. The Darwinian rules of survival do not change for people calling themselves American. We are becoming post 1917 Russia.

Dec. 29, 2012 at 12:07pmActually the only way to fix this is to fix congress. The only way to fix congress is to hole a constitutional convention and limit it to certain objectives. These should include term limits, making them pay for and participate in health care like the rest of us, get rid of the pensions and make them pay for their own 401K like the rest of us. And finally make them subject to the same laws as the rest of us. Anything they pass, they must follow also. The office was supposed to be a service to the country, not a service to them. Let them finish their limited term and return to the private sector and go back to making a living. Maybe then they will be more apt to pass laws that help the country, not hinder it.

Sure, I liked Ron Paul mostly, but knew he didn’t have a chance in hell to win, so what we did collectively, was divide and FALL. When election time came, everyone knew Paul couldn’t pull his weight, nor the other offshoots, so we collectively handed back the reins to the worst of all.
So, those who wanted to stand by their principle, voted for obama by proxy.

I think the ONLY way to fix it is for the People to go to Washington in mass with the support of the Military and physically round up every member of the three branches AND everyone who works for their offices and administrations. They will be stripped of all voting rights, they cannot hold public office at any level again EVER, they cannot work for a Government Department (State and/or Federal), NO pensions for any office holder from now on. Repeal the 16th and 17th Amendments. Supreme Court Justices are appointed for 10 year terms and can be reappointed only once by Senate and House confirmation. And finally term limits on House member at 3, Senate at 1, President at 1. The job title of Career Politician should go the way of Telegraph Operator and Milk Man..

Dec. 29, 2012 at 1:15pmThe real issue preventing a solution is the electorate. Despite the economy, world politics, domestic agenda and even a party that voted down God three times in its convention; and finally huge voter fraud, Obama was able to win with a close election. When social values allow for such without an uproar, the nation has passed the point of no return.
Politicians look to sound bites, blame and rhetoric because that works well with the general public over substance. Any republic dealing with such in history is lost.
The issue at hand is now how to now survive the downfall of America. Bork was a visionary, Ron Paul a realist with what is to come.

Your idea of having unions only so long as they play nice-nice with management is not quite as draconian as what Hitler did, but you get a lollipop anyway. As for your help the 1, maybe even 3 poorest percent and get the rest off government dependence, how will you tell every senior, every veteran, every disabled person, every public servant (your cops, your firefighters, your local prison guards all fall into the famous 47%) every serviceman, that they are cut off. No salary, no benefits even though they paid for them, no public services, no accomadations for the disabled or for veterans.

“We have in this country substantially two national governments, one to be maintained under the Constitution, with all its restrictions, the other to be maintained by Congress outside and independently of that instrument. If the principles thus announced should ever receive the sanction of a majority of this court, a radical and mischievous change in our system will result. We will, in that event, pass from the era on Constitutional liberty, guarded and protected by a written Constitution, into an era of legislative absolutism.” – Honorable Supreme Court Justice John Harlan Downes vs. Bidwell 182 U.S. 244,381 1901.
We have been there for quite some time. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dYleC7l86ys&feature=plcp

Dec. 29, 2012 at 2:18pmHow I miss this man already! Congress had a voice of reason and sanity with Congressman Paul. Now WHO will speak to the truth of our very distorted, and very corrupt ways in Washington? People speak of revolution and a moment in which the people will rise up and take back what they deem as a free America, but this is not only silly its foolish. The revolution is a revolution of thoughts and ideas. The government has been systematically setting up things like the Patriot Act, NDAA, CISPA, and who knows what else, in order to control and advert just such an uprising. Its NEVER going to happen that way and shouldn’t. It was and always has been about waking up peoples hearts and minds to the principles of LIBERTY. If the American public doesn’t get it by now, I doubt they ever will. We have been destroyed by our own complacency and sloth. We value trends and not time tested values. Our identity as a whole is whatever our social engineering dictates it is, and the public eats it up. Common Americans could care less about these issues, and people like us who eat up the news and chat on threads are weirdos. LOL. We cannot save the world, but we can save ourselves and maybe a few who are willing to listen. “Peace, is a powerful message”-RP, and its the only way we will ever win the hearts and minds of our fellow countrymen. The best weapons we have in this fight is the TRUTH about LIBERTY. No other instrument, be it physical, or verbal, wields more power. God Bless be safe friend

Dec. 29, 2012 at 10:14pmThe federal gov’t has lost sight of its purpose. When established it was to provide for common defense, establish justice, ensure liberty, promote general welfare & ensure domestic tranquility.
Now, Think that they were governing 13 colonies. If they thought this was all the fed’s should handle for 13 colonies why do the fed’s think they should “manage” a country of 50 states & 300+ million people in the manner in which they do? IT WAS “THEIR” VISION OF FEDERAL GOV’T!
Common Defense- protecting the country from enemies, foreign & domestic. We have fought wars for freedom, against communism & jihadi’s. The nation building we do is misplaced. As bad as it may sound, when we go to war, we should go to war. Quit f’ing around for years. We could have & should have been out of the ME many years ago & have lost too many lives to politicians.
Justice- See Benghazi, Fast & Furious & the many court systems operating on agendas outlined by special interest groups.
Ensuring liberty- We are under a constant onslaught of government over reach & litigation ridding us of liberties this country was founded on.
General welfare- to ensure every individual has the opportunity to make something of themselves. Too many people that don’t take advantage of what they are offered because it requires work. I understand people need help. But when it becomes generational, it’s on you.
The Founder’s vision for our nation has been corrupted.

Americans have lost their freedom to Obamas PROMISE of fulfilling “Their” DESIRES! And those promises are compelling to a populace that is now, largely immoral. Among our desires are for HIM to GIVE us what ‘others’ have that we could never afford before AND without needing to ‘work’ for it. We desire not to be held responsible for ANYTHING we do. We want the ability to get health insurance, any time, for any reason, after the fact and at no extra cost, and, to have someone else pay for it. We want to have sex with anyone, including Babies, pre-teens and children… without ANY consequences. We want NO limits on who we can marry or what defines a family. We want polygamous marriage between men and women, with homosexuals and children mixed in. We want guaranteed State responsibility and support for out of wedlock children. We want he right to kill any deformed, mentally or physically handicapped, or unwanted fetus or baby up to six weeks after birth. Do I need to go on? I could; probably for hours!

Jerk, for the last 20 years the disparity in wealth and income between the super rich and the rest of us has grown larger and larger. The Walton family, that one single family, has more wealth than the lower 40% of the country. The elite wealthy, the top 0.1% of wealthy Americans own more and more of America. And it’s not because they’ve become become better entrepreneurs, it’s because the playing field is tilted more and more in their favor.
The rich are getting richer, the middle class is shrinking -and their wages are stagnant – and the class of poor people is expanding. That’s the direction the country is headed, not because the rich are getting smarter and honing their entrepreneurial skills, but because they are gaming the system.
In spite of the recession the rich are making more money than ever – record profits. How many raises have you gotten lately?
The Waltons are worth more than than the lower 40% of the country. If the government enacts laws that help them own more than 50% of the country, or 60% of the country, does that make you more free? What if just a couple of families own 90% of America, is that good for America?

I think the problem is that there’s no real accountability in the government anymore. The Senate’s making spending bills, against what the Constitution says, but what recourse do we have? It’s like someone’s misbehaving kid going “yeah, I’m acting up, what’re ya gonna do about it? You lay a finger on me, my mommy’s gonna sue you!” We have no recourse except to vote the Senators out of office… and too many of them are easily reelected, thanks to voters with short memories.
Same with the man up top… and this is a most chilling prospect. Isn’t there ANY system in place for nullifying executive orders? What’s to stop Obama from executive-ordering the dissolution of Congress, or declaring the debt ceiling null and void? And all he has to say is “What’re you gonna do, impeach me? Even if Boehner had the cojones to do so, the Senate doesn’t have enough votes to kick me out!”

Congress is a term referring to BOTH the US House of Representatives and the US Senate as well. It is an over-arching term. The House is one part of Congress and the Senate is the other part of Congress. House members are called Representatives and Senate members are called Senators. Both bodies are called Congress. The members can be referred to as Representatives, Senators, and legislators.
On a state level, both bodies are called the State Legislature–not Congress (that is only a federal term). There is a House and a Senate on a state level, but again, these are referred to as the Legislature of that state. The members can be called state representatives (in the state’s House) and state senators (in the state’s senate) and all of those members can also be referred to as legislators.
And also, members of Congress (federal)–which includes House Representatives and Senators–can also be referred to as legislators.

Dec. 30, 2012 at 2:15pmYes, in theory, We The People ought to clean house. But the Tea Party helped clean house in 2010, and without sustained effort, we slipped a notch in 2012. Why? Well, initially I thought it was a lackluster Mitt Romney that couldn’t solidify the middle. But look closer, we lost seats in the House and Senate. I think that reveals that Obama and the progressives have at least temporarily convinced people that governent largess is the way to move past this time economically, and that the current Republicans who are pretty darned bad at public relations on the whole, are to blame. Little of it is true, but the Paul Ryans and Jim DeMints largely appeal to the Right, not the middle. Great ideas, I think they are right, but they have limited appeal….
We have a pretty uneducated population right now that is used to having it cushy. It isn’t cushy now, and history shows that people like scapegoats for their problems. Republicans make it easy, especially when the Democrats move from one short term pleasure or comfort sound-bite to the next (e.g., Entitlements NOW, free contraceptions, the Republicans want to take away your rights and kill off those entitlements, foodstamps, etc.) I know otherwise reasonable moderates and Center-Democrats whose values don’t really line up with the Democratic platform that join in lockstep. Maybe if they got a nose-ring it would be easier to lead them around, but I doubt it!

Dec. 31, 2012 at 1:08amSALAMANDER, As much as you speak to my sentiments, I’m going to have to take substantive issue with your points–I only wish I didn’t have to.
1. Representatives serve at the will of their constituencies and none are oblivious to that fact. If they come from a district that believes in free rides for all, they’re going to believe it as well–whether they really do or not. My Representative is Jim McDermott, Progressive (proudly so), Traitor (for slandering Bush from his paid vacation to Baghdad), and criminal conspirator (for his complicity in the Newt Gingrich eavesdropping affair, and overall piece of work would laugh any such attempt at spending constraints unless they were for defense. My home town (Seattle) has a freaking statue of Lenin, so he’s a natural.
2. Trying to get Unions out of politics is a myopic view of the right of organizations to make sure they are given a fair shake–especially when they perceive they have enemies seeking power. People on the left want Christian organizations be denied access to Washington just as people on the right want to get unions out. Labor unions, in theory at least, are supposed to allow members to opt out of political expenses. Some of those memebrs, though, might not want their cars keyed or homes bombed.

Dec. 29, 2012 at 11:06amThis is exactly what the goal is. They WANT to bring down the system so they can be the saviors. Look how Hitler came to power. It’s EXACTLY the same scenario. When people get stressed they look for and escape route and they choose the path of least resistance and Obama will be there to provide that path.
Of course it will require that he has all these new power to be able to control things to make things better for everyone but it will be ok because he only has your best interest at heart and all this was someone elses fault.
If we the people don’t get control of this BEFORE that point it will be many, many years of struggle, if ever, to regain control. It took from the early ’30s until the mid 40′s for Germany to get rid of Hitler and head down a different path and even then the path was not a good one.
See what we have to lose by inaction?

Dec. 29, 2012 at 10:32amThe voters have no one to blame but themself. They elected corrupt, liars to run our country. We now have a media that is a cheerleader for one party. We have socialist unions running the country now. Those lovable hard working public sector unions, by forced dues, have more money to elect their politicians, then any other group.
We are all listening to all the lies, out of Washington, and cheering the thought that people that are more successful then the average drone will be made to suffer.
For ten year, the left harped on how those evil Bush tax cuts only benefitted the evil rich. Now they are crowing about how they are saving them for the middle class, and punishing the rich! The left are all for them after 10 years of being against them, and the typical voter has no idea what’s going on.
Anyone that has any common sense knows, we have a spending problem, yet the left, the media and the mob, are all ready to cheer of a tax increase of 1% of income tax payers.
I wonder what that will do for our spending problem?
It’s not Ron Paul’s fault, or even the messiah’s, the voters allowed this to happen. Get a mirror if you want to complain.

Dec. 29, 2012 at 11:14amPortion of Ron Paul’s Farewell speech to Congress…..
“The #1 responsibility for each of us is to change ourselves with hope that others will follow. This is of greater importance than working on changing the government; that is secondary to promoting a virtuous society. If we can achieve this, then the government will change.
It doesn’t mean that political action or holding office has no value. At times it does nudge policy in the right direction. But what is true is that when seeking office is done for personal aggrandizement, money or power, it becomes useless if not harmful. When political action is taken for the right reasons it’s easy to understand why compromise should be avoided. It also becomes clear why progress is best achieved by working with coalitions, which bring people together, without anyone sacrificing his principles.
Political action, to be truly beneficial, must be directed toward changing the hearts and minds of the people, recognizing that it’s the virtue and morality of the people that allow liberty to flourish.”

Absolutely! Think of the ramifications of this…Everyone needs to understand that A) third parties do not stand a chance and B) it was not Paul/Johnson supporters OR Romney voters that won Obama a second term. It was ignorance from the vast majority of the population most likely caused by a liberal media and social media such as Facebook and Twitter.

Dec. 29, 2012 at 4:09pmSoybomb, you know as well as I do that Paul tried to play the delegate game. Is it technically “cheating?” No. But it was against the will of the districts that these delegates represented. The fact is that with a couple exceptions Ron Paul could not get over 12% in any state. The majority of voters in the REPUBLICAN primary voted for Romney. THAT is how the game is played. What non-republican voters might have done is a moot point, I can as easily speculate they would have voted for Romney or maybe Cain.
If you are so hot about a third party then why did Paul not just run as a Libertarian as Johnson did? There is nothing stopping a third party run from any candidate.
I am not adverse to a conversation on changing voting laws. The reason we have closed primaries in most states is so the opposing party cannot influence the choice of candidate. Maybe we should do away with parties altogether? Maybe everyone should have the opportunity to run on their own merit, so what if we had 50 candidates? One or two would be the clear choice. I am all for popular vote also.

Here is a question for the both of you, let’s just say that Ron Paul will be our next President, how much do you honestly believe he would get accomplished with the current people in the House and Senate? Remember, all laws are passed in either the House or the Senate and the President does not actually create the bill or law, he only suggests what it should have in the Bill or Law. Do you honestly believe that Harry Reid or Nancy Pelosi would agree with auditing the Fed? Do you really think that Reid and Pelosi would agree to getting rid of the Reserve? Remember the only reason why Obama gets away with what he is doing is because 75% of Congress is on Obama’s side, the same Congress that Ron Paul would have had to deal with if he became President. The only thing that Paul or even Romney would have done is get rid of Obamacare through Executive Order, the rest would have had to go through Reid, Pelosi and Congress.

He probably wants to end the electoral college and have us in a true democracy, against the will of our founders. We might as well be socialists or fascists to go by the “Mob Rule” of the popular vote. Anyone who thinks this, is not a true Constitutional Patriot.

Dec. 29, 2012 at 9:48pmPudsSweetie, I said this in another post, but will reiterate again. Ron Paul would have been able to do one unconstitutional act, signing one (and only one) executive order, rescinding all previous executive orders. As commander and chief, he would have had the power to recall ALL troops home, ending all the wars we are in. Those two alone would have put a stop to many regulations, much of the wated military spending that is not needed, and saved billions upon billions of dollars being wasted right now. So do not tell me that he would not have been able to make a difference. People like you, though, truly believe the establishment lies that somehow we would be in danger for ending the wars and bringing all the troops home. The blind leading the blind.

Even Romney Son days ago just said his father didn’t even want to run for President. He never cared. I will also blame Reince Priebus for passing rules at the convention that was never in favor of the crowd. I will also blame John Boehner for passing rules during the convention that was no where near in favor of the crowd and all the tactics the Republican Party played during the whole Primary. By threatening, Intimidation, Voter Fraud and ignoring the people who fairly won the delegation. And I will blame all you so called Conservatives on here that ignored Ron Pauls message and followed like pathetic sheep you are and listened to every thing the media told you. Dec. 29, 2012 at 10:18amRon Paul is right, although I don’t agree with most he says. It’s the entitlements that need to get cut and allot of cutting there. If people are too lazy to work, then so be it. They have to be stopped from sucking off the government teet. The top 1 or 2% that actually hire people won’t now because the taxes will be too high for them. If you’re on welfare don’t think you’re going be unscathed because you won’t be. The money will be running out sooner than later because people who have money will move it out of the country and Obastardo won’t bre getting all those tax dollars because he’s screwed the country up so bad, no one with half a brain will stay in the country just to be raped of all their savings and earnings. so good luck to all you lazy welfare, food stamp Obama fans, soon you’ll be dumpster diving to feed that nasty little habits you have, which are drugs, alcohol and laziness. Ron Paul had the only chance in beating down the democrats. However, between the neo-cons, the religious right, and our own welfare queens and kings they labeled him insane. What republicans need to realize is they need to stay out of people’s lives and promote freedom as long as that freedom doesn’t infringe on another’s rights. However, he’s insane because he doesn’t advocate another form of big government. The Republican Party is over. Real freedom lovers see the falseness in both parties and even so called tea party candidates like Rubio and west. Lets just face it and realize this country is afraid of freedom. They are afraid of Paul’s stand on drugs and want government to control these people. The war on drugs is a farce. The police state is nothing more then a government revenue stream. It’s imbecilic for anyone to think both candidates were “the same.” It’s imbecilic to think Romney wouldn’t have worked better, not “best” or “perfect”, but “better” than Obama on these things. The problems with Ron Paul and his supporters is lack of patience. While they’ve been honorably trying to change everything all at once, liberals have been changing things bit by bit. Conservatives made GREAT strides towards the same kind of movement in 2010 but screwed ourselves in 2012 by spreading that nonsense about both candidates being the same and Gary-f’n-Johnson being the solution.

Maybe because the reality of ANY election is choosing the lesser of two evils? Maybe because, had more of you voted Republican, we would stand a chance of at least starting to pull ourselves away from the edge of the cliff next year. Maybe because this last election was the last exit off this Interstate to hell. Granted the exit led to BFE and would have been a scary ride in itself, but we just blew by the last chance to get off. There will never be a fix to this mess now. Libertarians are just another flash in the pan and the two real parties are too far gone.
I do not blame you. You are entitled to vote for whomever you feel is the best choice. The fact is Romney should have swept Obama away even without your vote. It should not have even been close. The people of this country truly are stupid. Even the ones that should know better…

Well just because you consider it a two party choice doesnt mean the rest of us have to. If you want our vote, you should focus on fixing the election laws that allow a candidate to win with <50% of the vote. That is the real problem
The fact is that if every Gary Johnson vote went to Mitt Romney, Romney wouldnt have won a single extra state! Aside from that fact, what if we did put Romney over the top? We would have 4 years of a moderate perpetuating big government myths and a republican party making laws to hold onto power instead of cutting government spending. At the end of 4 years, we would either get Romney for another 4 or a democrat for another 4 (and up to 8). NO! I would rather make a statement by showing the republican party the direction they should go. If more people had done so, the republican party would be purging moderates instead of conservatives/constitutionalists

I voted for Romney. Too bad more did not. Now Obama is the chief and that is that.
You need to face reality, it IS a two party system no matter what you wish to believe. You tried to prove a point but the ironic part is people are either too stupid to get it or they have another agenda anyway.

Much of the problem Paul faced in the campaign was the zealous supporters. It is their way or the highway and if you dared to disagree about anything you were a neo-con progressive enemy.
Really?
I think most people in here are middle class flyover Americans. We all differ on different issues but I think by and large we are all freedom loving honest capitalists that believe in the Constitution.

Who is arguing? You are the folks that will not entertain any other ideas except what YOU believe is constitutional. I am all for reason. Let’s start with the “social safety net.” There is a need for SS and Medicaid. Are these the only solutions to the problem? No. But the fact is we do not let people starve or bleed to death on the side of the road in this country. This is the system we currently have and I will take as much advantage of it as possible, no different than trying to claim whatever deductions I can on my income tax. Are YOU going to claim SS? What if you have an accident and are out of work, how will YOU support your family?
The problem is the corruption IN the system, not the system. You have an “all or nothing” mentality, but this government has ALWAYS been about compromise. You will never get it to the point you think it needs to be. But it has worked reasonably well up to now. Real life is constant tweaking to keep it going.
Indeed, divided we fall. Remember that.

You will not make me feel bad or guilty for adhering to the system that is forced on me. I have no choice in the matter. As I said, I am open to the possibility of changing the system, but I am not open to the “pure” libertarian ideal of every man for himself. This would not work in today’s world. We are obligated to contribute to our society. I believe the system is badly abused and corrupt, and it gets worse year by year. I hate buying “Great Value” crap when the people in line in front of my are buying prime rib, nabisco, and coca-cola and paying with their food card. Dec. 29, 2012 at 5:16pmSocialist? I suppose in your “all or nothing” world I would be…
Do you not drive on roads and bridges? Do your kids not go to a public school? Do you not have the services of fire department, police department, city sanitation? You don’t feel you need to contribute to these things?
I will not argue with you about social issues, you are surly too dense to see the point. But for better or worse the government has decided that it will support those who cannot support themselves. I do not mind contributing to this as long as it is fair. You can call it socialism, and to an extent you are right…The truth is we will always help those in need. So you lost the game right there. This is why Paul lost and why people like you will remain an insignificant 5-10% of our society…the opposite side of the coin to radical (real) socialist liberals who want cradle to grave benefits.
How much of your pathetic $650 a month do I think you should contribute? Even if you played by the rules (which you admit you do not) and paid income tax you would actually make money off the government on that salary. At 70K a year? I think the current “Bush” tax rates are fair though I agree many loopholes could be closed (which would affect me). I do not mind paying taxes, I am just concerned with what government is doing with them. I also do not mind the “progressive” scale even though it costs me much more than you. A fair or flat tax might be a better idea though.

As Rush says what is so great about independents if they don’t make up their mind until the election. People who are so uniformed not to support policies of this or that party. Policies are based on principles. One might think that independents have no principles. At least Paul; supports espouse principle & polices. Some I do not think will work, but it is better than some quivering pile of mush that can;t make a decision.

Do not tell me he could not have done anything. He also understood that most of our military spending has nothing to do with defense spending at all, but all of the brainwashed think that cutting military funds, puts us at some sort of risk. The fact is that the majority of people who vote republican are moderates and progressive conservatives. We need to change the election laws so that we can get at least a 3rd party system for the small government/constitutionalists
==========================================================
I thought you were all about the Constitution, bub? What laws do you want to change. The Constitution, for better or worse, set up a two-party system indirectly. So you want to go back to the Constitution as long as we change it up a bit to fit your needs? Anything else?

That is a fresh one. Tell me where and how the Constittuion sets up a two-party system
If i am not mistaken, the way elections are conducted/counted and the way the electoral college is chosen is not contained in the Constitution. They are mostly decided by the states, which have passed that responsibility to panels and primary political parties

Dec. 29, 2012 at 9:46amGovernors, business owners and workers in each state need to come together and decide to no longer pay federal taxes. Pay them to the state but not the federal government.
This would choke off the money going to these useless politicians in DC.
If they decide to take action against the states than bring it on!
The time is coming to make a stand and fight no matter what the cost.
I can see no other way around this but to revisit our countries past and act in the same way that the revolutionary fathers acted.
Nothing else will make things change except a total revolt against the federal government.

I’m not convinced that Time2 has fled from this thread yet. I’m pretty sure that he is feverishly googling anything that would, in some way, validate his lie about Ron Paul being shamed into endorsing Chuck Baldwin. I’m sure that he is hard at work ever since we called “BS” on that last link he posted earlier.
His google search may take awhile because he does have very large hands which sometimes makes it hard to use a standard-sized keyboard.

Possibly, but in my observations I have noticed that when Time2 says “I’m not wasting anymore of my time” that translates into him giving up albeit pretending that he won.

Dec. 29, 2012 at 6:44pm“All anyone has to know about Ron Paul is that he endorsed Cnythia McKinney (a Communist) and Ralph Nader (an anti-capitalist) in ’08 for POTUS for signing a pledge.”
That’s a lie. He said he would CONSIDER endorsing anyone who signed his anti-Federal Reserve pledge. Only 4 people did, so that excludes everyone else. He only endorsed Chuck Baldwin in ’08.
“Ron Paul didn’t even have the cajones to stand up and vote on the NDAA in ’12, yet he and his malcontents railed against those that did. Can’t wait for this POS to take the dirt nap…”
Couldn’t have had anything to do with the House rushing through the vote while Paul (and Bachmann as well, you gonna call her out for doing the exact same thing?) were out campaigning. That is one of the most ridiculous charges against Paul I’ve heard in a while.

Dec. 29, 2012 at 9:31amWhat’s missing? Responsibility. Responsibility in general. Responsibility to succeeding generations. Responsibility to the wishes of Obummer’s opposition. Fiscal Responsibility. Economic responsibility.
Responsibility is a unique concept.
You may share it with others, but your portion is not diminished.
You may delegate it, but it is still with you.
If responsibility is rightfully yours, no evasion, or ignorance or passing the blame can shift the burden to someone else.
Unless you can point your finger at the man who is responsible when something goes wrong, then you have never had anyone really responsible. H. G. Rickover

Dec. 29, 2012 at 9:30amOur one party system with the carnival barker ringleader BHO will guarantee a second depression because they’ll continue spending and spending until the system collapses. They’re all candyass cowards the lot of them, none of them ever talk about cutting anything,it’s always slowing the rate of growth and no real cuts. The lawbreakers in DC could tax everyone at 100% and it won’t have any effect on the debt it’ll just harm the economy. They’re going to have to slash trillions in spending and keep the current tax rates, neither of which has a snowballs chance that’s why a collapse of the dollar is imminent.

Dec. 29, 2012 at 9:27amIt’s not really the Tax increases that the Politicians
Are Worried About.
It’s the Automatic Spending Cuts that Really Scare Them.
The Best Solution would be To Extend the Bush Tax Cuts.
And let the Spending Cuts Kick In.
But We all know That’s NOT going to Happen.

Dec. 29, 2012 at 9:49amIve asked this on another thread, is the marriage penalty tax part of the Bush tax cuts? I would think that would be an important topic when discussing the upcoming changes. Many people are too young to remember how it was cheaper to stay single than getting married when going to the tax tables. It stopped many older people from getting married during a time that living together was not very acceptable.

Dec. 30, 2012 at 2:44pmFL – yes this will be the return of the marriage penalty on steroids.
The old phaseout of itemized deductions will be back & new marriage penalties are added due to surcharge tax on individual making $200,000 or couple making $250,000.
I’ve been telling people all year NOT to get married but no one wants to live in sin so they will pay more in taxes as a result. Oh yeah & ask the Supreme Court obamacare is a new tax.

Dec. 29, 2012 at 9:58amThe reality is that these people arent stupid and this isnt some “addiction”.
Its Cloward-Piven 2.0
Thats why, although legally required, there has been no budget for over 4 years
Progressives and their Black Messiah-King get on TV and jabber away about getting the debt under
control, cutting spending responsibly, belief in small businesses and free-markets ——
but thats nothing more than Kabuki theater. The lies are to pacify the brain-dead.
The real deal is that they’re purposely running up the debt and spending to tip the cart over.
They know it works because they’ve done it before:
