This Graph Shows Which Areas in The U.S. Have the Highest Concentration of STDs (In Case You Were Wondering)
[Editor's note: The following subject material may not be suitable for all ages.]
First off: Gross.
Second, we feel sorry for whoever had to put together the following graph on the areas in the U.S. with the highest rates of STDs per 100,000 people. Because, again, gross:
Click for larger image (Courtesy: BestMedicalDegrees.com)
Big takeaways: Chlamydia is way more common than it should be, there’s something really weird going on in the South (the highest occurrences of chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis?) and the Northeast has the unfortunate distinction of being the region with the highest concentration of Aids victims.

Posted on December 30, 2012 at 4:30pmI wouldn’t feel out of line in saying that a lot of the STDs in the south are tied to welfare recipients and illegal aliens, both of whom find it desirable to produce offspring for the benefits that they provide. Remember it is in Missouri that one miscreant has fathered 30 children by 9 different women and is complaining that half of his check is going in child support. Since some of the kids are receiving as little as $1.50 from their sperm donor father, the rest of their care is being funded by the taxpayers.

(300,000,000 people murdered and counting)… As for single partner monogamy (abstinence education)… it does keep down STD’s. If you ask how many partners these people had it would be more than one in all probability. In regards to the concept of teaching how to protect yourself from STD’s to 4th graders, I would suggest turning off your TV, Computer, Radios and stop going to movies. Perverts are sexualising toddlers as well as grade schoolers. Giving pimps. ho’s, playa’s and other morally bankrupt characters the status of the “good guy” in films and music doesn’t produce good role models. Exam the media attention to atheletes like Wilt Chamberlain and Tim Tebow. Which is the good guy? Abstinence taught correctly and is cause and effect. Black ,hispanic and illegal immigrant communities have higher rates of all STD’s and illegitimate births (72%) according to government stats.
And since the government pays welfare recipients to reproduce ,the rate of sexual activity amongst single people who are rewarded for giving birth and get everything for free for the children they have ,is logically going to be higher.
More sexual partners equals higher chance of infection , and they are often times doing it to get pregnant for tax payer/government money so they take no precautions .

Point of Contention
Homosexuals want/demand an HIV vaccine. As if that would cure anything. Back in the day (in HS ) we were taught about STDs, Chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis. Looking up some of this stuff online in the last several months I found several other non viral STDs. I was stunned. The point is we could get a cure for AIDS & still have major problems. It is the gay lifestyle that is wrong. A promiscuous lifestyle among straights is wrong too.
The HTLV information merely confirms good sense of people who preach & practice abstinence, monogamy & the like.
Will an HIV vaccine prevent HTLV transmission?
How many people die of cancer & it was caused by a sexually transmitted virus? 5%? 10%? We are talking about how much cancer treatment costs specifically & health care in general . Shouldn’t we discuss monogamy as a tool in keeping health care costs down?

Once could model it.
Why do some viruses survive the mosquito gut & others die. Temperature? Stomach juices? Insect antibodies? Scientists give us empirical evidence. We use empirically derived knowledge all the time in structural science. But what we really want is theory & empirical data agreeing. In metallurgy we are getting close or are there.
What about disease transmission. Is it that the transmission rate is so low that they cannot measure it? Or is is so very low that they don’t want to tell the public about it, because they have no remedy or do not want to use the remedy like DDT? And so the tell the public a lie like in the Tuskegee experiment?

Posted on December 30, 2012 at 10:17amAnother stupid article spewing misinformation. Does anyone on this site create any news articles or are we doomed to continually get this re-posting of ridiculous articles?
Three of these diseases are readily treated by medication. Two of these diseases are primarily that of teenagers and/or minorities. According to the graphic, one of those primarily affects homosexual men (but it isn’t the HIV, which also primarily affects homosexual men, so that makes the other two).
The religious beliefs of the affected areas don’t correspond to the logic that having a religion and teaching abstinence fails to prevent STDs. There are plenty of studies to the contrary and this graph doesn’t refute those studies. In fact, just using the extraordinarily limited “information” on this graph doesn’t establish any kind of link between area, disease prevalence, & societal influence.
This graph compares total cases to total population. It does not compare total cases to target population, nor does it account for the differences in ages. A state with a higher percentage of young adults will naturally have a higher rate of disease prevalence for young adults (14-25 yrs), ditto for homosexuals & minorities.
At best this graph may indicate which states have more young families, homosexuals, or minorities per capita than anything else. Thanks Blaze for another nonsense article.

Look, I went through the public school system. I know where they were headed and it’s gotten a lot worse. If you take away the idea that we need to teach responsibility when it comes to sex, then this is what happens. More rape, more std’s, more abortion, more younger people seeking more mature older people, etc. dude I don’t want to be right, but it’s the truth. I realize you probably wish there weren’t any downsides to people engaging in these activities. The fact of the matter is, sex has consequences and should be treated like more than what it is right now. It’s something worth waiting for so you can rid yourself of any possibility of it becoming something you regret for the rest of your life.

Demographically the buckets or bins studied were too broad. Demographers would have broken blacks or whites into several smaller groups if not more.
They also argue that picking on the “religious” south was unfair, which other have pointed out as well. One large metropolitan area can swing a state from red to blue Likewise the same metropolitan area can swing disease statistics as well. and the demographics of the metropolitan areas is different in creed, age & many other ways.
They also pointed out that abstinence should not have the bad name among liberals that it has. they did not link a study. but lets suppose that 3% of teenagers taught abstinence have a STD as opposed to 5% of teenagers given condoms & the full blown liberal education in all its ‘ glory. If that 2% difference is long term, I would call that victory. Not total victory, but one nonetheless.
Melika’s point is well taken. the demographic distinctions are too broad. So brad as to be useless.

Secondly, of course they are going to have the highest porn usage since they have the highest internet access as well due to a higher standard of living (Am I getting over your head?). As far as anti depressant usage goes people in Utah actually go see a doctor when they are feeling depressed, unlike many states where people self medicate with alcohol and drugs. Alcohol and drug use is much lower in Utah……..kind of important (excuse the sarcasm). As far as white collar scams go Utah has more college graduates with finance degrees per capita than any other state. So instead of Utah having higher violence, crime and murder rates we have higher rates of white collar crime. Wow, I guess Utah isn’t so bad after all genius.

Oh, they have the most churches too, and churchgoers, and abstinance-only sex-education programs, and fundamentalists. See the pattern?

Posted on December 30, 2012 at 10:16amYes more religious population means Satan would have to be working harder in those areas to tempt people to sin, meanwhile in the non religious areas he already has won their souls, his work is done there why bother any further?

Demographers are much more precises the the geographical regions you use to form judgments. I guess what that say it that you should not go into marketing because you would fail because of your preconceived ideals.
“The Clustering of America” by Michael J Weiss
If you based this on school district or clusters slight smaller, you would truly be enlightened. Of course that would make for more than 4 groups, but I trust you can count higher than 4.
Can you count higher than 4?
Maybe you can’t & maybe you are no Marine.

So by re-clustering the map the data would show those STD patients actually don’t live in the south?
I await you to enlighten me with how a demograhic cartographer could redraw subregions and change the physical location of these STDs.

Most demographers drill down to the zip code & sometimes a little further.
So the point is, when you did so, you would not be able to make the smug, self satisfied & totally wrong statement that you made.
You are so reflexively liberal that if you were to compare Puritans & sailors of the 1600/1700s, you would come across with inappropriate comments. Like if you found 1 in 100 Puritans with an STD you would say see hypocrites just as bad as the sailors. There is nothing to trying to live by the good book. Meanwhile the sailors could have a rate of STDs of 15 in 100. And yet you would say that they are the same. I guess they are the same if 1=15.

I also take it that you & skimmer57 do not want to read “The Clustering of America” by Michael J Weiss or even a summary of the book.
And you wonder, why you are, where you are, when you could be someplace better.

Posted on December 30, 2012 at 9:37amHey, why doesn’t some enterprising newspaper publish the name and addresses of anyone with STD’s! That way, any sexual predator would know which addresses to avoid–same idea as the burglary guide for robbers being published in New York!
