Another Benghazi? Yemen’s Al-Qaeda Offers Over $100,000 to Anyone Who Can Kill U.S. Ambassador

(TheBlaze/AP) — Al-Qaeda’s branch in Yemen has offered to pay tens of thousands of dollars to anyone who kills the U.S. ambassador in Sanaa, or an American soldier in the country.

An audio produced by the group’s media arm, the al-Malahem Foundation, and posted on militant websites Saturday said it offered three kilograms of gold, worth roughly $160,000, for killing the ambassador.

The group also said it will pay 5 million Yemeni riyals ($23,000) to anyone who kills an American soldier inside Yemen.

The offer is purportedly valid for six months.

According to the statement, the bounties were set to “inspire and encourage our Muslim nation for jihad.”

Washington considers al-Qaida in Yemen to be the group’s most dangerous branch and, particularly after the tragedy in Benghazi, the American Thinker argues that the warning needs to be taken seriously:

As we have learned the hard way, this is no idle threat. Not that al-Qaeda fighters need any more incentive to kill Americans, but the bounty will probably bring foreign mercenaries into the country looking for the reward. In a desperately poor country like Yemen, it may also draw locals into the sweepstakes.

Al-Qaeda overran entire towns and villages in Yemen last year by taking advantage of a security lapse during nationwide protests that eventually ousted the country’s longtime ruler. Backed by the U.S. military experts based at a southern air base, Yemen’s army was able to regain control of the southern region, but al-Qaida militants continue to launch deadly attacks on security forces that have killed hundreds.

Yemen’s government also blames al-Qaida for the killing of several senior military and intelligence officials this year, mainly by gunmen on motorbikes.

Now they have moved Americans up on their list, it seems, and as the American Thinker concludes, “there will be no shortage of assassins to take out our people.”

Associated Press writer Maamoun Youssef in Cairo contributed to this report.

Death merchant. Fear merchant. Glenn is selling and you people are buying. He thanks you for making him rich. I do listen to his program now and then. He called his book, Agenda 21 “this generations 1984.” What writer compares himself to George Orwell? Only an arrogant, puffed up, self inporatant Richard. Orwell was a socialist, by the way. He didn’t hate socialism, he hated the Soviet Union which he saw as unsocialist. A corruption. And Glenn is his hero as is that other leftest, Orson Welles. How does it feel to be used?

Places USAID workers have been killed. Kuwait, Jordan & Sudan.

Laurence Michael Foley, Sr. (October 5, 1942—October 28, 2002) was an American diplomat assassinated outside his home in Amman, Jordan.

Knowing that most Countries in our World HATES America and it’s people, just who can stand up and say they are willing to give up their guns “because of those poor beautiful 5 year old children”? Hey! Sorry that school shooting had to happen. But the alarm is ringing and it’s time to wake up and realize that there is an entire World of people that want to see ALL of US dead! Again – I’m sorry for those kids. But in reality, that shooting is one VERY SMALL speck of what is going on across the globe. I’m almost ashamed to say that if a neighbor gives up their gun just because of this one shooting, I will still stand beside to protect them with the guns that I have kept.

Isn’t it funny how the CT shooting “shocked America”, yet these same people see on the news about ENTIRE VILLAGE’S of women and children being murdered, and they “just turn the channel” so they don’t have to see it. Ironic..isn’t it? How’s this one: The same people “calling to disarm” America are the same “Codepink” people who would rather watch reruns of “Everybody Loves Raymond” than to ACTUALLY witness (on BBC) a woman in Iraq being stoned to death because her husband “thinks” she looked at another man. You may think I’m a monster, but I’m not allowing the media to “shame” me in to the potential slaughter of America because of a few children that got shot by a “PROZAC NUT BALL”.
YOU actually witness children being burned alive, and you too will understand that CT was ‘small

Gaybama’s troops are on the march in Yemeni, and our boys are stuck with stand-down orders and rules of engagement that have ended up favoring the enemy on the battlefield.

We need to demand our troops be brought home. When it comes to enemies of our Country, our own

    What will $100,000 buy? Back in 2001;

One of those reports was that an ISI agent, Saeed Sheikh, had wired $100,000 to Mohammed Atta, considered the ringleader of the 9/11 hijackers. That report by itself, if it had become widely known, would have had explosive implications for the prospect of positive relations between Pakistan and the United States after 9/11. But even more potentially explosive was the report that Saeed Sheikh had wired this money at the instruction of none other than ISI chief Mahmoud Ahmad. This “damning link”, as Agence France Presse called it, had explosive implications not only for US-Pakistani relations but also–given the close relations between the CIA and the ISI–for the question of possible CIA involvement in the attacks.

The intent of bounties like this (or the kind we give for the capture of criminals) is to give that last little push to someone who is on the inside and trusted to shift to the other side. If we have a translator or other support person in close contact with our people, we would have done our best to vet them for idiology. The bad guys would do their best to identify them and intimidate them through their families. This bounty might tip the scales for someone who knows that they’d have to go into deep hiding if they turn sides and get an American killed.

It doesn’t create a new danger, but it does increase it.
