Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani’s story has been both a troubling and tragic one. While his plight seemingly ended positively earlier this year, the nightmare is nowhere near over. After initially arresting him for apostasy, Iranian officials changed their minds numerous times surrounding the charges that were waged against him. Then, this fall, after nearly three years behind bars, he was released, sparking a sigh of relief among human rights workers. But on Christmas day, Nadarkhani was, once again, detained.
According to those close to Nadarkhani, the 35-year-old pastor has been sent back to Lakan Prison. While he was acquitted of apostasy in September, he was held accountable for evangelizing Muslims — a crime that left him with a three-year prison sentence. However, at the time of his release, he had already served nearly that much time in prison, allowing him to be freed after posting bail.

The court, at the time of Nadarkhani’s release, said that his remaining 45 days could be served as probation. But the pastor, despite the government’s claims, has now been placed back behind bars, in an effort to seemingly force him to complete the initial sentence. Of course, this action is not entirely surprising, considering Iran’s treatment of Mohammed Ali Dadkhah, the pastor’s attorney.
Dadkhah was also detained earlier this year. TheBlaze previously reported that the lawyer, who is known as a prominent human rights advocate, has allegedly been sentenced to nine years in prison for “acting against national security.” His sentencing, it seems, has resulted from his defense of the pastor and others who were detained following Iran’s disputed 2009 elections.
In addition to his prison sentence, the lawyer has reportedly been banned from teaching in Iranian universities and from practicing law for the next 10 years. According to Fox News, Dadkhah’s family claims that he is not being given proper dental care and that his health is fading, as he is being held in Iran’s ever-brutal Evin Prison.

News of Nadarkhani’s re-arrest comes as a U.S. citizen and Christian convert, the Rev. Saeed Abedini, has also been detained in Iran (The American Center for Law & Justice has more about Abedini’s case).
Nadarkhani is a married father with two small children. He first came under fire in 2006, when he asked to have his Christian church registered by the Iranian government. Media reports indicate that he was then arrested and released shortly after. Then, in 2009, he went to local officials to complain about Muslim indoctrination in his local school district. Nadarkhani argued that his children shouldn’t be forced to learn about the Islamic faith. Not long after, he was arrested.

Dec. 31, 2012 at 6:49pmWhere is the outcry from the “progressive world elite” of the genocide committed daily ! One abomination after another is taking place and there is silence..even of the Pope. The atrocities are to brutal to speak I read of them daily jihadwatch.org and frontpagemag.com. These things have occurred through time but the boldness that 0 has given to the madness is strikingly obvious.
Please Pray for humanity that is suffering much for their faith in the Father of Creation in the name of
Y’shua ha Mashiach. Amen

Dec. 31, 2012 at 3:38pmIt is really very easy to find out where you stand with Islam as a non-believer. Find a searchable Koran and start looking up words like “unbeliever” and “painful”. Be sure to read for context so you can see what they really are talking about. You have 4 choices under Sharia law if you are a Christian. 1) Convert to Islam. 2) Pay the jizya tax and live as dhimmi with no actual legal standing. I.e. you cannot own land. 3) Sell yourself into slavery to a believer. 4) you can die. If you are a Jew or a Hindu, then you have only 2 choices. 1) become a slave to a believer 2) die. I do not find any of these options to be acceptable. If I have to, I will fight.

Dec. 31, 2012 at 3:29pmWhy is everyone so upset? This is a simple case of Islam pursuing its version of peace. As everyone in the government and in Hollywood knows, you cannot have peace without imprisoning people who disagree. And if they continue on their erroneous and misguided ways, then they have to die. It really is a law of nature. That’s why Obama and Biden just laughed at the opposition during the debates. They were really thinking about imprisoning or murdering anyone who disagrees with them. What kind of moron would fail to see that?

Dec. 31, 2012 at 2:56pmNarkarkhani is a true Christian who will be greatly honored in heaven when his time on earth is done. He is brave beyond what we can imagine. We sit in America and build our churces and say basically what we wish about Christianity yet we complain. This man still faces the persecution that the old apostles did 2000 years ago. He is a real Christian. We all need to be more like him.

Dec. 31, 2012 at 2:25pmMany of you said he should stay and face persecution. I understand what you are saying…but wherever he goes there is a harvest and much good he can do! The US is IMO, one of the most unGodly places that needs the Lord even more than most other countries. What we have here is NOT the gospel..it is a watered down “feel good” philosophy that doesn’t come close to the REAL gospel of Christ. Sharia is a form of oppressive government much like the pharasees!

Dec. 31, 2012 at 12:58pmI would like to say that Jesus Christ forgives sin. For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever beliveth in him shall not perish but have everlasting life. Not all Muslim’s but some, that would go after innocent people for changing there faith,by the way is that in the koran? or is that by the sharia law guys? I don’t know. Jesus told the adultery lady to go and sin no more as the guys were saying evil things about her. they had there own sins to deal with but they just wanted to show that she was sinful but not any of them. Christians are persacuted because they know that the word of God is true, the bible prophecy is very acurate on the way things are going. A lot of people hate Christians as they hate Jesus and they attack the Christians as our Lord and Saviour said they would. There is liberty where the Lord is. People are afraid of Jesus because he tells them there sins and the truth. Some people hate God so much. He tells us to teach his word Christians do it out of love not hate. God forgave my sins we are all born that way in sin. I don’t understand why the sharia law guys either put you in prison or death for not going with the Koran. But if you preach Jesus it is Jesus and those Christians fault Gee let me think as a woman Jesus or a Burka and Koran I will take Jesus any day.
He forgives me, he loves me, and he will give me everlasting life. There is Liberty where the LORD is.
Free the Pastors.

Dec. 31, 2012 at 11:20amThat is what is so great about the freedom of religion. If you become discouraged about the church that you attend, you are free to search for one that has your beliefs. No religion should never spread evil. Have a clean soul not one covered with blackness and live from birth with good morals and good ethics. I have stopped and thanked God for everything I have in my life and I will feel God’s presence and you could experience too……try it.

Dec. 31, 2012 at 9:06amhe broke a law. albeit a stupid law. what are you thinking in iran of all places to do this kind of stuff. you know what the laws there are. the guy practices law. so, he has to serve the remaining 45 days of his sentence. here is a thought. serve your 45 days, pack your bags and get your family the heck out of iran. it is not free. it is not a democracy. he studies and practices law. he knows this very well.

Dec. 31, 2012 at 9:19amWhat law would that be? Not to think or believe as a free man? Regardless of where we live, we are still all created in the image of God and therefore should be able to think and believe freely without coercion. If the iranian government is so afraid of the Creator of all things, they should deport the pastor and his family. These things will also come here and then what will you do and where wll you go?

You are both on the same side, albeit at each end of the common sense spectrum. Pastor Yousef Narkarkhani is proving to the liberals in the USA of what to expect in the future of the USA.

Dec. 31, 2012 at 10:19amGods law is from a higher court than mans law. He needs to stay in Iran to bring the good news of Jesus, our savior! His reward is heaven, God bless him. Muslims are Satanic, so, his battle is one of true goodness, against the most evil amongst us! His strife here is great, and I pray that Jesus take this strife away, and to continue doing the work of our father. God bless you and your family Pastor.

Dec. 31, 2012 at 10:50amI’m not advocating that the pastor leave iran. We are all called to minister and preach where God has placed us. Like I said, this will come here and we will all need to be ready. I, like I hope and pray many of you also, will stand with our Lord and Saviour Jesus when that time comes.
