Get Ready to Ring in the Year of the Snake With These 15 Freaky-Deaky Pictures

Although the Chinese New Year doesn’t occur on Jan. 1, we can at least begin reflecting this New Year’s Eve on the upcoming year of the snake.

The Chinese New Year begins Feb. 10, 2013. According to China Travel Guide, the Chinese Zodiac Year of the Snake is associated with meanings like “malevolence, cattiness and mystery, as well as acumen, divination and the ability to distinguish herbs.”

In honor of the upcoming year of the snake, we’ve pulled together a few pictures of people loving, hating or just doing weird things with snakes:

    The snakes on the face of the Indian snake charmer, is NOT a Russell’s viper (Daboia russelii). First off it is not a viper obvious from the snakes head. Those are rough-scaled sand boa (Gongylophis conicus) and are harmless.

    The most dangerous and venomous pit viper is found on Pennsylvania Ave.

      I don’t know about that. The head is distinct (not so on the boa you refer to) and look at the stubby tail at the guys mouth.

    As we say in WEST TEXAS, “The only GOOD snake is a _________ snake!” Unless, of course, it is a bull snake which keeps the rattlers out.

    Perhaps that could be our motto this year: the year of the BULL snakes!!!

Connect all the dots that allowed Obama to waltz into the White House…

      2001 was also the “Year of the Snake.”

      Before it so was 1989, 1977, 1965, 1953, 1941, 1929, 1917 etc..

      I’m sure someone will see symbolism in this but they shouldn’t.

      The Chinese Zodiac is just as dumb and superstitious as the Western Zodiac.
