Alleged Occupy Activist & Pregnant Girlfriend Busted in NYC With Weapons & a Bomb, Sources Say

Occupy Activist & Pregnant Girlfriend Busted in NYC With Weapons & a Bomb, Sources Say

Morgan Gliedman (Photo Credit: Facebook)

An alleged Occupy Wall Street activist and his pregnant girlfriend were purportedly caught with a stash of weapons in their Greenwich Village apartment.

Aaron Greene, 31, and his nine-months pregnant girlfriend, Morgan Gliedman, 27, were apparently found to have these elements in addition to bomb-making instructions, a stack of papers with a cover sheet entitled, “The Terrorist Encyclopedia,” and other weapons according to sources speaking with The New York Post.

Some of Greene’s associates have purportedly called his views “extreme.” Police made the discoveries and subsequent arrests when they went to the couple’s home over the weekend to look for Gliedman who is wanted for purported credit-card theft. The Post has more about the bizarre alleged findings:

A detective discovered a plastic container with seven grams of a white chemical powder called HMTD, which is so powerful, cops evacuated several nearby buildings.

Police also found a flare launcher, which is a commercial replica of a grenade launcher; a modified 12 gauge Mossberg 500 shotgun; ammo; and nine high-capacity rifle magazines, the sources said.

Cops also allegedly uncovered papers about creating homemade booby traps, improvised submachine guns, and various handwritten notebooks containing chemical formulas.

According to the Associated Press, Gliedman is awaiting her court appearance; Greene was held without bail after a court appearance on Sunday. Both were charged with criminal possession of a weapon.

Rather than coming from underprivileged backgrounds, the Post claims that the two have had quite the opposite experience. Gliedman grew up in a prominent part of New York City and her father is a well-known doctor. And Greene attended Harvard University and did his graduate work at the school’s Kennedy School of Government.

Despite these backgrounds, Greene allegedly had five prior run-ins with police and has been charged with assault and weapons possession in the past.

Update: Occupy Wall Street has responded to claims that Greene is a part of the movement. Earlier today, TheBlaze spoke with a representative who pointed to a press release that attempts to debunk his connection to Occupy. It reads, in part:

Since its beginnings in September 2011, Occupy Wall Street has vigorously used its Constitutional rights to protest Wall Street greed, and is firmly committed to non-violence. Nonetheless, Occupy has been subjected to extensive surveillance and repression, and the NYPD takes every opportunity to link OWS to crime.

There is nothing in the news stories to support a link between OWS and the individual arrested; his name is unfamiliar to many OWS activists. A very large number of people came through Zuccotti Park, and there are countless Occupy-related groups nationwide, so it is very difficult to ascertain if one person participated in anything related to OWS.

We urge members of the media to refrain from spreading rumors and misinformation.

Entirely consistent with the BRACE Character Profile of the Occupiers of the Occupy Wall Street Movement (OWSM). Excerpts: This combination suggests very strong characteristics related to power and control, a willingness to violate the rights of others in order to accomplish goals and objectives, and an inflexibility and narrow minded range of interests….This suggests intentional, callous, proactive rather than defensive use of force and violence, calculated provocations, an active seeking of confrontation, and an intentional disregard for the rights and property of others.

Did these two study under Bill Ayers.

“Ayers participated in the bombings of New York City Police Department headquarters in 1970, the United States Capitol building in 1971, and the Pentagon in 1972, as he noted in his 2001 book, Fugitive Days.” written by Ayers

If “criminal possession of a weapon” means unregistered then by all means we should start going door to door until all guns are registered and a complete profile of the owner is obtained. Until those you disagree with actually commit a crime, they hold the same second amendment rights as everyone else. And I’ confident that they are not the only holders of unregistered guns on the block, let along the neighborhood, city, state or country. .

I don’t think they did anything wrong. they practiced their 2nd amendment right.

a “modified” mossberg ? what ? a security model with an extended mag?

a few “high capacity” mags that are completely legal in most states and most of ny if they are old enough? oh – but not legal in the people’s paradise of NYC.

a few grams of a simple chemical that can be used in a child’s cap gun ( if those are not yet illegal in this country) check out you tube for examples of using this hymn… and the morons cleared several buildings… they are imbeciles. probably just reloading primers.

regardless of their politics I defend their right to bear arms and protect themselves.

btw most of the booby trap manuals are issued to our soldiers…. you can AND SHOULD buy theme at any surplus store, even amazon.

I read you past 10 comments to try to get a sense where you are coming from. From a 1st amendment I see no problem with “The Terrorist Encyclopedia”. Nor would I see a problem if they had the Anarchist Cookbook or schematics needed to print a gun.

I do have a problem with the HMTD. At the very least they had it in an apartment, when different storage was necessary. If storing HTMD at an apartment does not matter, then I should be able industrial chemicals on any domicile (If you & your get harmed my bad). I think you would feel differently if you have kids & lived next to a neighbor that had chemicals like these

Josh, you need to rethink your argument. First off, there is legal and illegal. While many of us might believe the gun laws of NYC are ill-advised and stupid, we do not advocate BREAKING the law. We advocate CHANGING it.

The fact that they were in possession of unlicensed weapons, makes it a crime in NYC.

Next up, you seem to have completely missed the part about HMTD. I don’t think you can even get a permit ANYWHERE, to possess that stuff since it is inherently unstable and not used anymore. BTW, it WAS used as an initiator… that means to set off an even bigger bomb that might not be so easy to get going.

I live in Oklahoma, where we are quite familiar with ammonium nitrate explosives. Fertilizer can grow your food, or it can take down a federal building. Open your eyes and look at the available facts, man! I could care less if they had a whole library of reading material about bomb making. But, if I find you in the same room with that library AND the chemicals used in them, WTH is a thinking person supposed to believe?

Josh: You said: “What is the factual difference between possessing a weapon and “criminal” possession of a weapon?”

There is nothing wrong in the possessing of a weapon if you are not a criminal to begin with. But criminal possession of a weapon is the difference. HMDT is illegal to possess because it is bomb making supplies. Even law-abiding citizens cannot possess such supplies. AND the police were investigating him for credit card theft. Credit cards are small so if the cops had a search warrant they could look into small places and that’s probably where they found the HMDT. The other weapons, depending on how the “modified 12 gauge Mossberg 500 shotgun” was modified, the literature and the high capacity magazines I have no problem with providing he’s not a felon already.

I don’t have double standards on owning guns. There’s people I know that I don’t like and can’t stand to talk to but they have the Right to own weapons as long as they aren’t felons, or in any other way prevented from owning weapons. Just because I don’t like them doesn’t mean that I don’t support their Right to own weapons.

Some stupid judge back in the 1920s or 1930s ruled that sawed off shotguns we not legal because there were not used during WW1. Therefore they were not weaponry a militia would use. The m0r0n judge never heard of “trench brooms” being used in WW1.

They can be famous as Bill Ayers .. do their dirty work against society and be a well paid professor and friend of the present President.

Yeah, unlike that Right-wing Christian militia that was planning on killing a cop, and then attacking the ensuing funeral procession with bombs.

      @AvengerK

You and the rest of the Protect the Borders brigade (who are curiously only concerned with one border in particular) oughta be proud of Shawna Forde, the leader of a Minuteman group who murdered a father and his 9 year old daughter in cold blood.

Gosh VANCYBOY..no where near as proud as you must be of the five occupy human debris that were caught before they blew up those bridges. Good intentions anyway..right? I’m sure they were quite the inspiration for the anarchists in this article too.
It’s all for the 99% right?

Thank God for those progressive lefties. These are the people that the left coddle and want to see in the fore front!
I wonder why I would want weapons! This time the police were successful, maybe next time it will fall to a citizen to save lives!

Many of the commies & agitators come from rich families

Castros live on a hacienda while growing up.
Che’s father was a doctor or dentist.

These 2 are no different. They are rich, spoiled brats, who are now too old to be put in juvie & so must pay the price.
