NAACP President Ben Jealous Says Tim Scott Doesnt Believe in Civil Rights

The president of the NAACP said on Wednesday that black Republican congressman and incoming senator Tim Scott doesn’t “believe in civil rights.”

Benjamin Jealous was discussing Scott’s “F” score with the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, a measure that is “always about what’s in people’s hearts.”

“We have Republicans who believe in civil rights — unfortunately he is not one of them,” Jealous said. “And unfortunately his party as you know, has really gone after so-called RINOs as they call them, these Republicans who believe in civil rights, again and again.”

Jealous did note that “there is nothing but room for him to improve.”

South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley (R) last month named Scott to replace resigning Sen. Jim DeMint (R), who announced he was leaving the Senate to head the conservative Heritage Foundation. Scott is slated to be sworn in Thursday and will be the only black member of the upper chamber.

Ironic since the republican party was born because of the racisim that dominated and controlled the democratic party and just shows how out of touch the NAACP is and that they are only interested in maintaining their voting plantation for the democrats.

  Most African Americans – especially the youth do not know that Abraham Lincoln who died for their freedom was a Republican. With all the ground breaking history with Mr. Scott being selected they can’t see it because the man fails to be a racist. The NAACP is blind to the fact that the Democratic party has a ring thru their noses and leads them around. Still at most country clubs the blacks are the waiters since they look so good in white uniforms.

I always find it outdated and hypocritical, even their name. Imagine if anyone put together the “National Association for the Advancement of White People.” Racism still exists in America, but at least in my last twenty years or so I’ve noticed its mainly reverse racism now.

Jealous is fighting for civil rights not because of civil rights but for his own personal gain. Just like Jesse Jackson. Either one of them would screw over a black person in a heartbeat if there’s enough personal profit involved. I suspect their price is pretty cheap.

Scott needs to prove NOTHING to the racist NAACP.
He only needs to keep his SOUL while WORKING for the people his is going to represent. And that will be much more difficult than dealing with this racist Black Klan in D.C.
If this modern NAACP group of “down with whitey” supporters is angry at you as a black man, then you must be doing something right.

The NAACP, by its very title, is racist. They do not believe in equal rights. They believe in special rights. Giving any one an edge due to race or ethnicity is taking away from another race or ethnicity for the same reason… racism.

Joel Spingarn, an English professor at Columbia, became the NAACP’s chairman in 1914 and served off and on in that role until his death in 1939. His brother, Arthur Spingarn, headed the NAACP’s legal struggle; he drew upon the expertise of Jewish legal scholar Felix Frankfurter. In 1930, the onset of the Depression threatened the NAACP’s future.   Many years ago (more than 30), worked at a well-known University.
  Some students tried to form a White Student’s Union using same charter as Black Student’s Union, but changed every use of “black” with “white”. Guess what happened?

I want to hear Mr. Jealous’ definition of “Civil Rights”. To me those would be life, liberty and pursuit of happiness. I feel confident that his definition would not include any of those terms, but would include numerous entitlements and discriminatory priviledge based on physical characteristics (as opposed to efforts, ability etc.)

To the NAACP apparently ‘civil rights’ means all the blacks have rights and the white people do not. It is almost completely like that now thanks to the racist p.o.s. we have in office now. Blacks think that just because they have a criminal class (the majority) of blacks that is still relatively poor…, then there is not equality. That is a bunch of crap and an excuse to keep up this fake, racist “need for civil rights”. Apparently Tim Scott believes in being fair. That is something the NAACP cannot comprehend.

  If you live by making “race” an issue in all aspects of life – you are a racist.
  Tim Scott is our best hope for a better future because he will not see all issues through a racist political magnifying glass.
  Mr. Jealous needs to do his homework before he attacks people and calls them names. But that will never happen because the MSM will not call out his own racism and politics of hate. The NAACP needs to get a bigger tent by reaching out to conservative blacks that truly do understand the civil rights movement and have great respect for our Constitution.
  Poor Mr. Jealous – He is just ‘envious’ of Senator Scott’s courage to see people as people – and ignore skin color and focus on the content of one’s character.

Why am I not surprised Mr. Jealous’s comment…the fact that Mr. Scott is educated, a conservative and doesn’t follow the black “you owe me” mentally says a lot for members of the NAACP and the Congressional Black Caucus.
