The Surveillance Camera Footage of Burglars Breaking and Entering Into an N.C. Home Is Surprisingly Fascinating

The holidays are a vulnerable time for homes while the owners are away. Surveillance footage from a home in North Carolina shows you why.

The YouTube user flashpitt posted the footage on Dec. 31, showing the breaking and entering that occurred on Dec. 29 according to the timestamp on the video. Here’s the play-by-play of what the robbers did as written in the video’s description:

At 00:15 - Criminals 2 and 3 check the back yard area while criminal 1 rings the doorbell 4 times. Criminals then congregate in the back yard and try kicking the back door in one time.

At 1:36, Criminals 1 and 2 eventually kick in the door.

At 5:10 - Criminal 1 finally notices surveillance camera and covers his face. He proceeds to turn the camera towards the wall and eventually cuts the wire.

To further destroy the device, flashpitt wrote that the group poured bleach into the camera DVR box, which shorted the electronic components. But the hard drive survived and is the reason we have this video today.

According to the user, the incident happened to his home in Raleigh, N.C.

Flashpitt didn’t state what exactly was stolen, if this video was taken to the police or if the criminals were ultimately caught.

they also needed a good Burglar alarm….gets them out every time ! $30 a month is not much compared to cleaning up the mess these thugs left…..

  Most burglaries take place within the time span of five minutes. The thugs could be in and out long before the cops arrive.

  While I agree that an alarm system is not good passive protection, sadly (in terms of human intelligence), these alarms do turn away most groups. The intelligence of these particular thieves is sufficiently illustrated by the fact that they tried to destroy the DVR, instead of just stealing it entirely.
  
  I must say as a side note though, notice how they did not destroy the place? This seemed somewhat uncharacteristic to me. What they couldn’t steal, they just left alone. Many destroy the houses, in addition to stealing valuables…

  I was struck by the same thing, that they were so careful, shutting doors back, placing things back where they got them on the desk, etc. It’s almost like they knew the owner of the house. I moved a mobile home once, and the driver of the truck left it abandoned half way there, after wrecking it on an icy bridge and stealing half the stuff that had been left inside. The other half had been ransacked, and was in total disarray. We had been given clothes for my new born son to grow into, and the bags were torn open and clothes strewn everywhere. They took a diplapidated vacuum, and left my Sarenghetti sunglasses (worth over $100, 21 years ago).

  That’s the overall best solution. With a poor economy and local law enforcement budgets already strained, we would be doing society a big service to just shoot and dispose of the burglars carcasses on-site. Their mamas won’t miss them. Not in a bad way. And neither will the rest of us.

Notice they ring the doorbell over and over to see if anyone is home.

If I’m home and not expecting anyone, I never answer the door. If they ring more than once, I’m armed and waiting. Only a matter of time before these morons run into another homeowner like myself.They would all be shot within the house in seconds.

Good thing it was just some useless idiot kids and not people that actually do home invasions as a profession.

Real criminals don’t gently open a drawer or a cabinet and take a cursory look at it’s contents and then close it. The entire house would have been trashed with the vast majority of their non-pawnable belongings destroyed in the process of tossing the place.

  Yeah at least they were gentle with the stuff. I guess that lets you know that they usually ring the door bell to see if you are home. A lot of the time I don’t answer the door. Bad for them. Plus you cannot tell when I am home or not.

What they don’t tell you is right across town an elderly couple were tied up and robbed, another homeowner as beaten and robbed in a home invasion X 50,000 cities. Black thugs kill about 12 whites a day, every day. We should get combat pay. Kill Whitey! How black is that?

I have my CHL, I also have me a Mossberg 500 12 gauge and I would not think twice to blow this SKUM of the lowest of the LOW criminals away. I know the State of Texas would back me up. How am I suppose to know whether or not they have any weapons. Only the strong survive. Travon x 3 more, no regrets, just a bunch of paperwork will need to be filled out

  That’s why I have a German Shepherd and an Emergency Back-up German Shepherd. A nice thing about GSD’s is they don’t bark if they don’t have to. Bark to alert the family if they are home. Don’t bark if they want to have a little “play time” all to themselves.

You could put a back up storage device somewhere hidden in the basement or somewhere else as well as use some hidden cameras.

Who says you need to notify police. You could always let some criminals frag each other (no payment needed).

  My surveillance camera saves the video to the camera, which then sends it to a computer (if its turned on) where it is uploaded to a folder on the Internet. So if they steal my camera and computer I can still watch the video. I can even watch it from my cell phone when the motion sensor sends me an alarm.

  No, they always want more. They work hard to steal the stuff you work hard to buy. Had the homeowner came home and used force to defend his home he probably would be on trial for murder since the “boys” had no weapons and were “only” committing a property crime.

  Not in NC. Up until last year, they had to be in your home before you could kill them. Now, you have the right anywhere on your property. I was reminded of this when I had to call 911, the Saturday after Thanksgiving, to report car burglars in my neighborhood. The deputy was eager to remind me, but I got out of the house too late to make it a reality. I could have shot them in the street, but that would have been trouble. They were both caught and are repeat offenders, on probation, at the ripe old age of 22.
