Boston Mayor Tom Menino Says Biden Guaranteed Him Obama Will Pass Major Gun Control Reform by End of January

FILE – This Oct. 5, 2012 file photo shows Boston Mayor Tom Menino during a campaign event for Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren in Boston. Menino on Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, responded to the National Rifle Association’s call for armed police and security volunteers to be posted at schools, saying the group’s proposal “is not a plan, but a ploy to bring more guns into our neighborhoods,” following the Dec. 14 massacre in a Connecticut elementary school. Vice President Joe Biden “guaranteed” that President Barack Obama will pass sweeping gun control legislation by the end of January, according to Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino.

“He said, ‘Tommy, I guarantee you, we’ll get it done by the end of January,’” Menino reportedly said at City Hall on Thursday. “They’re going to get it done.”

Menino, a leading gun control advocate, has been recovering from a myriad of health issues over the last two months, but said Biden has called him a number of times while he was in the hospital. One of the calls came after the Newtown, Conn. school shooting and concerned gun control, the Boston Herald reports.

“I understand the Second Amendment, the right to bear arms. But I don’t understand how young kids should be able to get guns,” Menino said, adding that Obama has “no excuse not to pass strong legislation.”

The mayor also said the president no longer has to worry about upsetting pro-gun voters or the National Rifle Association because he is in his second term. In other words, he is more “flexible.”

“Menino and New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg co-chair the 500-mayor-strong Mayors Against Illegal Guns and have called for national gun reform in the wake of last month’s Sandy Hook school killings,” the Herald report adds.

We need to demand that Obama & Biden force these game companys to take all the violance & guns out of the games and force Hollywood to only let people aim their fingers – rather than guns in all the NCIS, Detective, CSI & Westerns. They need to go back and make any reruns of old John Wayne or any old show with a gun be changed to show the folks shooting at each orther with fingers. You have to start with the kids and then maybe a ban on guns might work.

“The very word “‘secrecy’” is repugnant in a free and open society; and we are as a people inherently and historically opposed to secret societies, to secret oaths and to secret proceedings. We decided long ago that the dangers of excessive and unwarranted concealment of pertinent facts far outweighed the dangers which are cited to justify it.”

“If the American people ever allow the banks to control the issuance of their currency (instead of Congress), first by inflation and then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the people of all property until their children will wake up homeless on the continent their fathers occupied. The issuing power of money should be taken from the banks and restored to Congress and the people to whom it belongs.”
      -Thomas Jefferson

If the nation can issue a dollar bond, it can also issue a dollar bill. The element that makes the bond good, makes the bill good, also. The difference, between the bond and the bill, is that the bond lets the money-broker collect twice the amount of the bond, and an additional 20%. Whereas the currency, the honest sort, provided by the Constitution, pays nobody, but those, who contribute in some useful way.

Won’t end well for the gun grabbers. This is the one thing MANY Americans will draw the line with this corrupt govt. Record gun sales are happening for a myriad of reasons, but if you think hunting or target shooting is the reason you are gravely mistaken.

To those in the military and law enforcement (as well as retired) the day IS COMING when you will have to choose between honoring the OATH you took to this nation, CONSTITUTION and the people

      OR

Will you be an automaton following orders?

      Its that simple.

As for those saying “from my cold dead hands” what you need to be asking yourself is not if your willing to fall but if you are willing to take another?!

Im not a Jesse Ventura fan, this is from an ’08 speech, for those wondering about taking on govt “….The second amendment, the right to bear arms is there so that we the public, if our government gets out of control, we have the ability to rise up and change it. Just because we believe in that amendment does not make us fools, it does not make us gun crazy people. There’s a reason they put that in there and as I said the reason is so we have the ability, now many people have said to me well wait a minute “how could we the citizens ever stand up to the US government and their entire military might?” Well wait a minute, I got the answer. We threw everything we had at Vietnam, and they were nothin but a bunch of farmers with a few AK-47s, and they withstood it all… “

Somebody explain to me how this is going to work. The House can’t even pass The Violence Against Women Act, and you think they’re going to pass a bill that requires Americans to give up their guns? That’s probably the most stupid thing I’ve ever heard in my life. I mean that’s just crazy. You’d have to be mentally ill to think Congress would pass a bill like that.

That degree of stupidity, or mental illness, hasn’t been seen in America since the ignorant, the stupid, the paranoid and/or mentally ill thought that FEMA was establishing concentration camps for Conservatives.

Guys, this is all theater! Remember Feinstein wanted to take this to vote in the Senate but after a few week she decided to push it to the House? That is because she didn’t have the votes in the Senate to pass it. Too many Dems in the Senate are up for re-election in super red states and would not vote for it because they wanted to keep their jobs. So a few weeks ago I told some friends to watch it get pushed to the House. It did just like I said. It wont get passed the House at all and Democrats know this, just for the mere fact that after it goes down in flames, the Dems and the MSM would then try to vilify the Republicans in the House for their desperate attempt to regain seats in the midterms. Its nothing more than theater. There is more of a chance for a executive order for some form of gun control than it is for it getting passed the House. Its all theater!!!

He hasn’t done the same to us, because his goal is to subdue America without having to fire a single shot, so he can play golf without any major problems on his plate. He’s got a thousand ways at his disposal to control the populace.

Still, if more guns in schools aren’t the answer, then why have almost ALL of the schools in America beefed up their security with armed resource officers OR are trying to figure out how to fit them into their budget. “Gun control” is just the latest easy target for liberals…like coal, tobacco, and “rich people,”

I live in the good ‘ol state of MA (sarcasm) and we are so backwards here it’s disgusting. We have a town that just banned bottled water (rich & liberal) and the state just voted to legalize pot. WHAT???? How screwed up can one be???? It’s quite an embarrassment. The thing is where do you stop? We have more drunk driving deaths and yet there are commercials that promote drinking and sex and none of the liberals are crying out against that. Why???? Hypocrites!!!

what exactly do you think Feinstein is planning on banning?

She even specified that some guns need to be banned, and without grandfathering.

other politicians and much of the MSM is saying the same

are you going to tell me that no nation has ever banned, and confiscated guns in the history of the world?

Nations that turn to socialism and communism always ban guns. they want total reliance on the state, and you are not allowed to do for yourself.

Are you telling me that England and Australia has not in recent years banned and confiscated guns?

You might want to go back and study legislation that Feinstein, Clinton, Brady….. pushed for back in the eighties and nineties. Go back and look at Morton Grove. Look at the Heller decision, where major cities though they could ban hand guns.

Liberals do not want guns in the hands of citizens.

Liberals are not talking about building a system to keep the mentally insane off the street

Liberals are not talking about how to take the black population who is 12% of the population, and does half the nation’s murders, and lowering their murder rate to the same as whites, thus lowering the nation’s murder rate by almost forty percent and saving many black lives

Libs want the guns. Hollywood types like Rosie O Fatbutt, and many others have been calling for gun confiscations for decades, and they are not just talking the rifles.

Let’s see… when the government tries to get between me and my inalienable right to bear arms, I think there is a high probability somebody is going to get badly hurt… or worse (and I’m going to do all I can to ensure it isn’t me).

And a message to law enforcement: Guys, you may have to soon determine on which side you’re going to be regarding the issue of gun control. Do you REALLY want to side with godless Democrats who are hell-bent on stomping out the Constitutional rights of patriotic, law-abiding citizens? I implore you to carefully choose your allegiance because your life may depend on it.

People wake up you want to change the Government it’s easy. Congress can’t amend the Constitution only we the people can. You want the Fed. Reserve audit or shut down the fractional bank system that is allowing these thieves to charge us 875 MILLION A DAY in interest on money they loan that they don’t have in the first place. You rally a state vote to amend the Constitution from allowing outside sources to control U.S. CURRENCY. Fact is the Constitution can be changed to master the times as they change but it takes citizen not congressional powers to change them.
All you Patriots want to remove dictorial power from the Presidency….PUT IT TO A VOTE.
But we can’t do any of this until we stop illegal and fraudulent voting within our system.

I don’t believe our military will fire one shot at Americans standing up for our 2nd ammendment right. In fact, I believe they would switch sides and join us.

I see so many people saying things like, “They won’t get mine”, or “Mine have all been stolen” and others telling how they’ll hide theirs. I wish it were going to be that easy.

It’ll be a huge surprise … a confiscation won’t be announced and then methodical door-to-door tactics used. You’ll be surprised at your door some middle of the night when you least expect it and they will be there to search and remove your guns (and you if necessary) with virtually NO advance notice. You cannot hide guns so easily; dogs will sniff the gun powder out. I’ve read of some pretty ingenious ways people in other countries have attempted to hide guns during a gun-grab and even 50 years ago they were found. Think about where we have come technologically since then and how much easier it will be to hide a gun?

The only thing that comes to my mind on hiding them is to go out into your yard and bury a gun in a sealed, vertical piece of heavy duty PVC. Be sure it’s very, very deep. Then before it’s completely covered up, put scrap metal in the ground a couple feet above it. Now, dig a whole bunch more holes in your yard and bury scrap metal and crap in all of them. At least this way, you’ll have a chance once they start using ground penetrating radar, metal detectors, and other items.

      Logistically impossible.

They don’t have the manpower, even if they combined the entire military of these united States and all of the police forces of the united States together into one unit. We outnumber them about 80:1. The first whiff that this is starting in, say, North Carolina and the folks in Ohio or Wyoming or Texas or Indiana will be well prepared and not laying in bed waiting. They simply do not have anything close to even a whiff of the manpower capabilities to do what you said, and if they tried, they’d be signing their own death warrants and leaving themselves powerless once their thugs were dealt with.

Not a chance in hell of door to door.

You are thinking in the right direction, but I do not agree completely with you.

They will start out, appealing to emotion ( like Sandy Hook), to stop the sale of certain guns, magazines, and ammo. Latter will come registration, and at some point outlawing what you have at your house.

When it comes time to take them, Obama and crew are smart enough to know going door to door will not work.

They will set conditions for Americans to turn in what they have. Lots of tough guy talk about prying cold dead fingers. When the feds shut off the water, power, and gas, see how many folks are talking tough after 72 hours of no water, heat, electricity, no where to poop….

Americans will take their guns to a turn in point, and they will get their water and power back on, when they turn in their guns, and they will get some sort of credit by turning in family members and friends that own guns. The gov is tracking face book, blogs.. they know who owns guns, and who is vocal about keeping them.

When it comes time to get guns from the hard core folks who did store up firewood, food, water, they will not knock on the door. They will pull up at range with armored vehicles, they will have air support via drones and helicopters, and they will order you out with your guns to turn in. Fight, and they will put a rocket through your front door, and blow your house off the foundation.

Good advice on stopping tough guy talk. Call and write your senator, and educate

I hope you’re right, but am just not sure. When you combine military, UN ‘peacekeepers’, the TSA, Homeland Security, and most local police forces that will comply, that’s a bit more people. Of course, you do this under the guise of ‘National Emergency”. And, if you have the “kill switch” on the internet, do you really believe word is going to leak that quick and easy? We certainly cannot count on national news to report on anything like that.

I do, really, hope you’re right. However, our government is becoming more and more repressive and outright evil. I believe they are in the planning stage and feel their window to ‘opportunity’ is rapidly approaching. I don’t care so much about myself, but it concerns me greatly for the lives of my children and grandchildren and their ability to live free.

      Acknowledged.

Those that can get their water and heat and electric shut off will be city dwellers. Those of us in the country already can survive quite well on our own. That is the reason I believe we will be targeted first. It’s pretty easy to contain and rule over city folk, not anything against them, but they are already herded into a pen and in many ways dependent, thus a fairly simple pool of people to manage.

Country folk are another type of people. I believe we will see door knocks and forceful confiscations. Certainly there will be a some public spectacles like Ruby Ridge just to show people what they will get if they do not comply, but the door to doors will follow.

I don’t know if we can win this. The time to do so is now, right now. The longer we wait, the less chance we have of winning. Writing congress people is good, but I believe many are compliant with the rulers. I believe this is going to take a huge amount of people thumbing their noses at the tax collectors and saying, “I refuse to comply!” It will take a massive amount of people standing up, and I just don’t see the vast majority of people have the ba11s to stand up and defy government, especially if government shuts off their “Jersey Shore” ‘entertainment’.

What a sad, sad state of being many/most Americans have become.

he can do things no other politician ever dreamed of, and gets a free pass from the MSM.

Look how easily he passed his Obama Care. Bill and Hillary are not qualified to carry Obama’s jock strap.

Look how quick he allowed degenerate homosexuals to serve in our military, and our leaders dared not say a word.

He just got republicans in the house to sign off on a bill that raises taxes, does not cut spending, and grew the deficit. Republicans, the party of lower taxes and less spending, are terrified of Obama, and they do what he tells them to do. They just put their finger prints on higher taxes and bigger government.

he is magic, and has powers that none other has had before

When he decides to take the guns, the republicans will do as told, and will fall in line with the commands of Obama.

There will be some sort of slickey boy tricks that we have not even though of, and your average American will willingly turn in their guns, just like your average spineless man in American is now on the side of homosexuality, gov healthcare…..

Well, I certainly understand the sentiment behind the talk of resisting gun confiscation. I’ve detailed to my wife the sequence of how it could play out, and what I will have to do if plays certain(and different) ways.

Having your home confiscated, being killed in a shoot-out, going “underground”, having all your assets siezed, etc. Not pleasant thoughts! I would never have thought this would happen, but these things, for all of us, are real possibilities.

Can we really believe we could possibly stop armed personnel carriers from rolling down our streets and invading our homes? We have to be ready to die. We have to inform our sons in the military of what may be asked of them to do to their own family. Some young miliytary personnel are so naive, so indoctrinated, so unaware of what is at stake, that they would take orders to kill you if threatened.

Look for the ‘infowars’ video interview of a young Army (I think) soldier who was involved in confiscating guns in NO after Katrina. He is sorry for what he did, and now realizes how wrong it was.
Remember….the German parents of children indoctrinated by Hitler never thought their “own” kids would turn on them for not relinquishing their guns!

You have to understand the consequences, and be prepared to suffer them. This is from a descendent of a signer of the DOI, so you know where I am on this.

      Ranger/JRHusky….
I’ve done my share of reading on the takedown of America. I don’t claim to know more than any one person here, but, obviously, I know more than many.
There are “sources” in the DHS who are leaking info. It’s gotten to the point that DHS people are watching other DHS people. I’m sure some of you have seen a couple of posts hereon that topic.
The “perfect storm” would be to have the manufactured (I didn’t say it wasn’t real, just manufactured, like a motorcycle) financial calamity hit, and then, as chaos/anarchy result, people will ‘beg the devil’ for protection.
The forecast is, of course, for problems to hit cities first, as people there will be hungry (as in no food in the stores). They will go to the rural areas to steal, rob, etc. Homeowners will defend themselves. This will be followed closely by “the authorities” excursions into the countryside to kick in some doors, if necessary. Military/police/DHS personnel will have some descions to make, just like the homeowners.

What was the phrase used? “Fundamentally Transform”?

That years later a new leader comes into power that they don’t like and he kills them and their whole family aka Joseph Stalin or even Mao Tse Tung etc.

Look at Countries with no guns at all like Libya, now what is happening in Syria. The people found ways to arm them self and go after the government.
      —–
Guys, you need to stop setting rogue nations as examples of success. Reagan stated it plainly: “We are the last and greatest bastion of freedom.”

Who do you think was arming the Libyans? Hussein. Iran is too. We (Hussein & Gang) are now aiding and abetting the Islamization of the ME. That is one reason why, while I hated the Benghazi coverup, I did not mourn for the Benghazi victims. They were all sold out to the Traitor.

      @RANGERSKIPPY
You are spot on about Af-Pak — and Iraq. Defeating Islamists is impossible, because they use religion to kill. We would have to: 1) Take their economic power away, i.e., become oil (not energy) independent ; 2) Get rid of the Iranian govt. Iran could actually RETURN to democracy, and 3) Give Egypt back to the military. HOWEVER, all the above are contingent upon our ability to 4) Retake our Constitutional Republic.

Needless to say, none of the above will happen with Hussein in the WH. Heck, even another Reagan might fail, since Europe is pretty much owned by the UN commies and Islamists. If you want to recall similar cases in history, take any falling empire. Then you’ll get the picture.

They WILL get your guns. I promise you that and your Republican Party will be ones who will help them. Remember, it was the Republicans who were the determining factor for the ’94 assault weapons ban and it was those very same republicans who promosed us that if we elected them to Congress that they would overturn the ban…..they didn’t. Infact they let it expire. I find that it is only a matter of time before this government, this media, hollywierd, pro-sports and pressure from the left and the right that WILL result in the total abolition of our right to keep and bear arms. I was in my local courthouse to handle some property paperwork and I stood in a line that went out the door……all for gun permits. The funny thing was, that many of these folks were government employees…..Think about it folks. Why would government employees be standing in long lines for something that they themselves know is something that is going away and they will be instrumental in the confication process of those weapons.

GhostOfJefferson, honestly I believe you are one of the few here who are not clinically paranoid. I’m not a hunter although I have friends and relatives who are (nor or I am against guns or hunting or whatever and agree that hunting is actually good to prevent overpopulation of deer, for example, and the starvation that would result). You’d probably agree that bow hunting is the most “real” form hunting, as it depends much more on stealth and skill than killing a deer visiting a feeder with a rifle. And you’d probably agree that even killing a deer at a feeder is a one shot proposition. You get a deadly shot, and find the animal, or the deer dies a week later in the wild, something which shames a real hunter.

Even if you’re hunting wild hogs in the south, a real hunter would be ashamed if he didn’t get the animal on the first or second shot. If you need five shots to kill a hog, you’re just a sorry hunter.

That’s the way the hunters I know think. They realize, as you probably do, you don’t need an AK-15, or AK47 with a 100 round magazine to hunt deer or hogs or any other animal.

Any other mammal than man. The only purpose those weapons with hundred round magazines have ever served, and will ever serve is killing people as fast as possible. That is the only reason to have those weapons. And, of course, that’s how they are used. Not for hunting, for killing people, at war, or in a theater.

Actually, if you came face to face to Kodiak in Alaska & he saw you before you saw him, you might need a 100 round clip.

Looking at pictures of merchants at Korea town defending their homes, stores, community & livelihood during the Leftists inspired LA riots, a revolver a price or a single shot shotgun would not have sufficed.

And yes, the merchants had a right to protect their stores, their livelihood. It is called a livelihood for a reason. Without it there is no life.

So how it will happen is through specific new laws that might make munitions cost prohibitive
for Joe public or bind the process of obtaining firearms in red tape.

It will be subtle but not so subtle, it seems the democrats favor death by a thousand pin
****** when they know the will of the people is against them.

Tbh I have only a passing knowledge of the bill of rights, amendments etc being of red coat
      descent but living in America.

      It seems clear enough though.

“A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.”

Any laws imposed restricting or forbidding law abiding citizens keeping and bearing arms
      could be constituted as tyrannical.

Not even a citizen but living in the USA I can legally defend my family is a freedom I have
      never known before.

The 2nd amendment is not something I wish to relinquish to a tyrannical government.

The question is how do we do something about it and not fall into the trap they will invariably
set. Push some people enough and bad things happen, irregardless of whether the

Look up title 10 section 311 and see who the members of the militia are. Able bodied citizens 18 years of age an up. If they are called up they need to be ready to answer with a rifle chambered for 5.56×45 NATO or 7.62×51 NATO. That mayor is why 18 year olds must be allowed the use of arms.

The Dick Act of 1902 also known as the Efficiency of Militia Bill H.R. 11654, of June 28, 1902 invalidates all so-called gun-control laws. It also divides the militia into three distinct and separate entities.

The three classes H.R. 11654 provides for are the organized militia, henceforth known as the National Guard of the State, Territory and District of Columbia, the unorganized militia and the regular army. The militia encompasses every able-bodied male between the ages of 18 and 45. All members of the unorganized militia have the absolute personal right and 2nd Amendment right to keep and bear arms of any type, and as many as they can afford to buy.

The Dick Act of 1902 cannot be repealed; to do so would violate bills of attainder and ex post facto laws which would be yet another gross violation of the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights. The President of the United States has zero authority without violating the Constitution to call the National Guard to serve outside of their State borders.

With the number of gun owners in this country, if a 95% majority of gun owners turn in their weapons, that will leave an armed force roughly 3 times the size of the US military. I don’t think I can calculate the level of PO’d that armed force would be either. That’s even allowing for every member of the military to side with the government, and odds are not in the government’s favor on that one either.

Just remember one fact from the American revolution, the bulk of the colonists didn’t favor the revolt.

One other thing I have to ask these liberal twits: If you were willing to surrender to a few thousand illiterate Muslims when you outnumbered them by 10 to 1, how do you expect to defeat an enemy that outnumbers you by about a 5 to 1 (or higher) margin when that force is going to be made up of and/or lead by US military veterans including a large number of special operations troops?

LT – there’s almost 5 million NRA members alone. That’s already a sizeable force. As far as the military aiding and abetting NMP Odumbo, there will be some who blindly follow orders (because we were trained to). Others will not because those orders will be illegal. The National Guard units, for the most part, will likely head home and join the people. Then there are the Oathkeepers and our numbers are growing.

If we can count on a majority of the Guard and their supplies and equipment, we have a fighting chance. Otherwise, it’ll be a bloodbath and it probably will be anyway. Only our massive numbers will allow us to prevail and this country will be a sad place for a long, long time. But – we’ll still be free and the Constitution will still be the law of the land.

I don’t want a fully automatic weapon. Fully automatic weapons burn through ammunition at too fast of a rate. Ammunition weight and resupply will be a major effort. If you have ever carried a combat load you would know that weight is an issue. I saw troops burn through a 20 round magazine faster than I can type this message.

I believe in semiautomatic weapons that use 5.56 rounds. Resupply is just pulling unused magazines from the SOB who tried to kill you.

      Off on a tangent

I believe there are three America weapons cultures. Rural and tied to rural have the weapons culture. Intercity ghettos regardless of race have the weapons ethic. White city dwellers who are terrified and do not a weapons ethic. I wonder who will survive when weapons confiscation happens.

This is obviously a generalization. Many city dwellers have the weapons ethic and many NE rural areas do not.

5.56 just seems so damned inadequate for anything except shooting unarmored, defenseless people. It’s a wounding round and not even a good hunting round.

Sorry to be there bearer of bad news beckerheads but a couple of points here.

      1. I was referring to the 20% of the gun nuts. Not america as a whole. The 20% of your minority. You may think that all of america shares your views but if you looked outside the blaze you may find a swell of momentum going against you. You can deny it if you like.

      2. The 20% that won the revolution did not have helicopters. No tanks or drones. No kevlar or now even invisible cloaks now. No sniper rifles or rpgs. The army will follow our presidents orders not the rednecks from the blaze. Much like your homie allen west, you still dont know you have lost but the outcome will be the same.

Apparently there are a couple of things wrong with your logic.

      1. You assume that the entire military exists of people who would follow orders against their own people. This would not be a war against another country, this would be a war against brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, neighbors. As somebody interested in history in general I PROMISE you that any internal conflict has a whole new set of rules and morals.

      2. You also assume that tanks, helicopter, big guns, etc. would make a big difference. Unfortunitly, the United States has been on the “good” end of the odds many times and lost. Remember, that even though they were supported by the Soviet Union North Vietnam was VERY outgunned by our military. We ended up getting beat up by ambushes, traps, and a lot of determined people. In a hypothetical war in the US there would be a lot of miniature Vietnams everywhere. It would result in an insane amount of losses on both sides but the government with the bigger guns would be much more surprised (because we don’t learn our lessons from history).

Do I think all this will happen? Probably not, but if your going to make the bold predictions on how things would turn out you might think about knowing what you are talking about before you say it.

Free, Why do you need anything? Why not just let the government tell you exactly what you can have, what you can eat, what you can wear, what you can drive…if they let you drive or not.

Why do I have a semi-automatic rifle with 30 or more round magazines? Because it is my natural and God given RIGHT. It’s for ME to decide what I have and don’t have not some government. I have the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. My guns are part of my happiness. Part of my liberty. Most importantly it is the way I retain my life as my own.

You honestly, REALLY trust the government to stop with just banning one type of gun? REALLY? Are you really that trusting? What do you base that trust on? Have they really been that trustworthy?

You see, without being armed with the same weapons that are available to the police and government we have no way to protect those rights that we have. History is the best teacher. Just the 20th century alone speaks volumes for what happens to the citizenry of countries that give up their guns.

Well over 100 million dead that we know of. You support that kind of killing?

@Free_Thought: You are seriously misguided. The guns civilians buy belong do them and they can also buy fully auto as well and license them in some areas. It just isn’t cheap. And guess what? If they make them all illegal, people WILL ACQUIRE fully automatic weapons and employ them rather than semi’s because they are all illegal. Once they are all illegal who’s gonna give a 5h!t? It will be about life and death then, not a measly prison sentence.

Free-thought–I’ll answer your question. It is simple, the second amendment, in it’s strictest sense, means that I am able to be as equally armed as the military. Our founding fathers set it up that way because they feared an over powerful government. When a population is well armed, a government would think twice about grabbing too much power.
All this said, I should be able to own anything the military has if I have the funds.
Oh, and to your question about owning a semi auto with a thirty round magazine–because I can! Quite simple isn’t it?

@pervertedthought During the Revolution, citizens owned the same arms that the US continental military owned. Hell, during the Revolution, American citizens owned much more advanced guns than the British troops owned. On that note, during the Civil war, Colt sold the same guns to the US military and US citizens. What we have now is a bunch of deluded liberals who are little pansy degenerates and who are brainwashed by misinformation spouted by the leftist MSM.

Here is the good deal. We don’t have semiautomatice weapons with a 30 round clip. If you had spent some time in the military or naval services, you would know that the M16 and it’s derivatives use a MAGAZINE not a clip. You probably picked up on the word “clip” watching WWII movies on TV. Since you don’t know the normenclature of weapons, you speak for ignorance.

The guns they want to ban are not the guns used in most crimes. More people are killed with there bare hands then with a semi auto rifle. That is fact look it up on the FBI crime list. You belive government when it tells you the AW are bad. There are more AR15 and AK47 out there then we can count. Here is more facts for you. My son 270 4 round mag or 10 round mag bolt action rifle will do more damage then any AW fact. Most who shoot hunting rifle can hit a 3inch circle at 600 yard and farther. Now tell me this if this mad man who did this. Had 4 to 5 10 round mags in a bolt action rifle that is high power thing would have been better less kids would have died. One he could shoot threw all most any object who going to stop him inless they have a gun. Any way you look at it kids would have died. Now what would happen if the teachers would have been armed or a armed guard. You going to tell me that he wouldn’t have been stop before so many died. You never hear how people with a CCW save life. Just how guns take life wonder why that is. Look at what happen in San Antonio Texas. Some mad man try to kill a bunch of people. He didn’t take one life because he was put down by a CCW carrying woman. Now try to use facts to make your case you can’t. The truth is the truth plan and simple.

elections that defy all known logic, TV news graphics that “accidently” show results that havent happened yet, etc.

Everyone should be alarmed that the sitting VP is going around giving “100% guarantees”
on SWEEPING legislation that hasnt even been INTRODUCED yet.

“Vice President Joe Biden “guaranteed” that President Barack Obama will pass sweeping gun control legislation by the end of January, according to Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino.

Last I checked, Obama passed Obamacare with a Democrat controlled House. The House is now controlled by Republicans. The legislation must go through the House, where it will likely fail, but Boehner doesn’t even have to allow the bill to hit the floor(he said he wouldn’t IIRC). The only way I see Obama passing “strict gun control” is through Executive Order(to which we say hello Civil War II). Maybe the Democrats will gain control in 2 years, but I see nothing happening anytime soon. YMMV

Do not consent to any gun control legislation that congress puts forth. It’s all unconstitutional. They may only train, equip and discipline the state militias, for certain specified reasons outlined in the federal Constitution, but they have no power to infringe on the people’s private right to keep and bear arms. None. Do not consent to any of their traitorous laws.

A war is coming? No it isn’t. People did nothing while the anti-American left slowly took control over the last half century. People did nothing when they took over the educational system, rewrote history, destroyed our identity and culture, and brainwashed children to their way of thinking. People allowed themselves to be labeled falsely. They also allowed themselves to be burdened with a false “white guilt”. They allowed men to become emasculated and celebrated it. They allowed themselves to be demonized without just cause. They allowed lies to rule. They allowed those who sought only their self-interest to sit in chairs of power. What did they do? Nothing. The signs were all there for everyone to see, just as they are now. Where are integrity and honesty? They are seldom found. Where are values and morals? They don’t exist they say. To argue with them is like arguing with an addict. There is no logic or reason. It will become your fault regardless, and the people have become enablers. When they ask to give up the guns, people will do nothing.

Has everyone forgotten the National Civilian Defense Force that Oblamo touted 4 years ago? Does no one remember the 1.2 billion rounds of ammo purchased and stored in various ammo holding spots like SS offices, FEMA offices, local police department offices.

How easy would it be to operate when the IRS freezes your bank account? Cuts off your credit/debit cards? No power at your house, oh well? No water, too bad. We have lost the war already, we just don’t realize it yet.

Lots of big patriotic talk, not much teeth behind it though. Don’t mistake my meaning, I served my country and am proud of it, but the reality has be exposed to me. In this high tech world, of which we are very dependant on, they can defeat you without firing a shot.

Remember the little 2 line wording in one of the many bills passed, giving absolute power to control the internet…hmmm. Pretty hard to jump on your horse and scream the british are coming nowadays.

All of this was being planned and executed while everyone was watching American Idol, football, ect. Everyone was focused on the latest bozo move by Oblamo, while the left hand was secretly lining everything up. When evil is your motive, it is amazing what can be accomplished. I have enough alternative and backup resources and I don’t need anything more high-tech than 2-way communication. Got that, too. You might be surprised by how little people can get by with when they have to, especially if we help each other. If what we’re talking about happens, banks are meaningless, the IRS is meaningless – it all matters not one whit.

If you truly believe we’ve lost already, then you indeed have. I am sad for you. If I lose my life during all of this if it come to pass, I still will not have lost.

If Syd Barrett were here, he would spit in your face for not knowing your history while claiming that you do. i implore you to change your icon. and your name for that matter because clearly you lack the intellect required to be a free thinker.

@FREE_THOUGHT You don’t get what you’re egging on do you, a modern Civil war will mean even less quarter for civilians than in the previous civil war, and if they get their hands on any biological or chemical weapons of which there are loads of stockpiles, train cars etc with lots and lots of it going all over the US it will be a horrific event. I hope Obama thinks about fixing mental services before he touches Gun laws, he’s already on the verge of being impeached for passing the LOST treaty with the UN without ratification. How can you even think your statement of “they are not coming after all your guns” is true? You have no idea what they are planning on doing! BTW, they can’t have ANY of our guns as they are a right we are guaranteed. If you want to know why anyone needs a semi-auto rifle with a 30 round “magazine”, it’s because the government has them and we need to be able to defend ourselves. As far as an automatic weapon goes hardly anyone has one so stop acting like it’s common.

Ever hear of a SHOTGUN, stupid?

Lemme help: 5 shells x 9 pellets = 45 projectiles. Is that MORE or LESS than 30?

And “clip”, really? Great, another GUN-TARD who knows only what he’s seen in the movies. It’s MAGAZINE, dummy!

What is it that you don’t get? The 2nd Amendment is about defense of SELF and STATE.

You really expect the PEOPLE to defend the STATE with pistols, hmm, stupid?

      “That will NEVER happen here!”

Yeah, that’s right up there with, “There will never be a shower with a chimney.”

I have read many of your comments on this topic and have to say I am astounded by your total trust in the government. This administration first drew my attention, and scrutiny for that matter, before the election of the first term when, then candidate, Obama said he was going to “change” the United States, but never defined what “change” meant. Now, after 4 years, I know what kind of change was meant. His socialistic tendencies are all that’s needed to breed fear into the heart of every freedom-loving person. He has nothing but pi$$ all over the Constitution since day one- dismantling it a little piece here, a sizeable chunk there. And YOU think that we should just trust that “they” are not coming after every single gun?
What shocks me most about your attitude is this; you seem to not even realize that “they” get to define what an assault weapon is. Any gun can be used as an assault weapon. In the wrong hands it can cause mass destruction and it does not matter how many rounds it fires per second. And this is NOT even being addressed. Mental health is the issue here. Not one politician, media personality, or Hollywood elite has DEMANDED that we address mental health in this country as they have come out against guns.
If they were REALLY serious about addressing the Sandyhook incident shouldn’t mental health be at the top of the list? I suspect it has nothing at all to do with sparing the lives of innocence, but all to do with power.

@pervertedthoughts Your presumptions are baseless. A man can do the same damage a semi-automatic rifle with 30 rounds can do with two 15 rounds semi-automatic .45 pistols. Your fear, emotion driven, illogical drivel is pathetic. Should we also limit gun ownership to one gun? To 6 rounds? You liberals are so damn stupid. Crime will not be deterred nor reduced by banning 30 round semi-automatic rifles. Should we reduce drunk driving by banning certain cars and requiring all drivers to take a breathalyzer test before each drive? You have absolutely no facts to prove crime and violence will go down by banning 30 round semi-automatic rifles. Your progressive overlords in Congress only propose such non-sense to create the illusion that they’re doing something about violence, and to make the people feel safe. Thanks to your Marxist ACLU organization, maniacs are free to roam the streets. You can ban all rifles of whatever kind, and have the strictest gun laws ever, and it will never stop a madman from murdering his mother or neighbor and stealing their guns.

FREE – first I have the right to own ANY firearm regardless of the size ammo or the amount of rounds it is capable of holding.

When the founders wrote the second amendment they knew that the times and types of firearms would change that is why they SPECIFICALLY stated “firearms of the times” because they knew that ” WE THE PEOPLE” would not be able to defend ourselves from a tyrant government if we were only allowed inferior fire power.

They did not write it so we could go hunting or sport shooting, they made it clear, it was to protect the citizens from a tyrant government.

Now, why don’t you be a little daring and be a rebel for once and go back and tell your handlers that maybe they should discuss the real issues and restore family, values, morals and logic. And if you really want to be a rebel, tell them you don’t want any more FREE stuff, your house is already full.

No, people never know what they are going to have to defend themselves against. The LAPD have their side arm and in their car they have both a shot gun and M16. Why? You never know what you might have to defend yourself against. In 1997 they attempted to use their 9mm’s/.40′s for self defense against bank robbers with actual assault rifles (not the semi-auto ones that you are claiming are “assault” rifles) It did not turn out so well. If you think a 9mm is sufficant, then you might as well keep a fire extinguisher filled with water in your kitchen. But then again you don’t need a fire extinguisher because you kitchen is not on fire, right?

Also, one might consider that this is the internet, and that you have absolutely zero knowledge of what anyone posting has training for or experience in.

Exactly!!! I’m so sick of hearing these people talk about ‘gun control’, God forbid they are ever in a situation in which they need it. I’m hearing many different things from many different people. I’m from Massachusetts which have some of the strictest laws in the Nation, I dotted my I’s and crossed my T’s, had a class from a state trooper (believes in the 2nd ammendment, can’t stand Obama). This trooper is teaching me so much about flight or fight and combat readiness. I don’t know what the future holds but as a responsible gun owner, I have to be prepared for whatever comes and pray for the best. Also, as a women, I feel much better knowing I can protect myself and be comfortable with a weapon. For target practice, I’m partial to the .22 LR. Very easy, minimal kickback.

Gun control is not what this is about. Gun control is just a step this has been in the works for a long time. You all should be aware that in ww2 only about 10 percent of solders actually fired their weapon at another person that is why the military went to man shaped targets to desensitize the military. As far as Vietnam I was there and we were not really allowed to just go in and kick ****. We were sent to take lots of hills that were not needed. That was dumb azz politicians the same problem we have now.

You are partially right on that. It takes a coordinated effort by Congress and POTUS to pass laws with one exception. POTUS can use the executive order to create laws and sidestep Congress. All that has to happen is for the Senate to be silent and let the executive order stand and become the law of the land. The House of Representatives has no say in this at all. And you will find that the Senate is offering a blind eye and deaf ear to anything that the president issues an executive order for so one way or another it will happen.

No problem. I get it. I grew up with weapons. I have a respect for personal defense and the Constitution.I sniffed the stench of government reach and capabilty when I was in high school during Ruby Ridge and Waco. Then I watched how they snatched Elian Gonzalez with assault weapons in a private home to sent back to Commie Cuba under Clinton. Yet, Obama gave amnesty to millions of illegal aliens. Now I’ve seen a man who is not legally fit to be President in the Presidency and basically steal the 2012 election. It was just a matter of time before a government who doesn’t fear the American people, to render them completely powerless by stripping their fundamental rights. Our nation went over the cliff quite some time ago. I think the lights must go out for there to be any kind of rebirth. God be with us all.
