Almost immediately after taking her oath of office on Thursday, incoming Sen. Heidi Heitkamp (D-N.D.) and her family became the latest victim of a Joe Biden gaffe.

While posing for a picture with the vice president, he told her husband: “Spread your legs, you’re going to be frisked.” Biden was responding to one of the photographers who asked everyone to drop their hands to the sides.

“Drop your hands to your sides,” Biden added. “You say that to somebody in North Dakota, they think it’s a frisk.”

“They think you’re in trouble, right?” the vice president asked Heitkamp’s husband, who just shrugged at him.

  Ha ha, Joe being Joe. As Democrats would say. Republicans would say he’s a national disgrace. But maybe both are accurate. Surely it is not lost on all of us the timely gaffe’s the Vice President delivered at key political moments during Obama’s first 4 years.
  
  I get the sense that some of it was theater and some was just his awkward, inappropriate car salesman demeanor. The quintessential politician. But a man that would play such a role no matter the degree, is a national disgrace.

  He really is like Lloyd Bridges. I am not throwing any personal attacks here, but Joe Biden is too dumb to have the position of vice-president. Granted, Obama isn’t that smart either (especially in basic economic theory) but at-least he has a silver tongue to make up for it. Biden probably isn’t dumb in an every-day sense but this guy is the VICE PRESIDENT! Seriously, this is a guy who flunked his bar-exam 13 times before he passed. Granted, the bar exam is tough and is an accomplishment just to pass it but I expect the vice-president to pass it MUCH sooner than that. Add the fact that he says things that would get you fired from a corporate job on the same day and he is not really vice-president material. I almost (ALMOST) feel sorry for the guy.
