Sen. Tim Scott Hits Back at NAACP President for Saying He Doesnt Believe in Civil Rights

Vice President Joe Biden administers the Senate Oath to Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C. , accompanied by his mother Francis Scott, during a mock swearing in ceremony on Capitol Hill in Washington, Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, as the 113th Congress officially began.

Newly appointed Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) on Thursday fired back at the president of the NAACP for saying he doesn’t “believe in civil rights.”

Scott, the only black member of the Senate, told Fox News’ Greta Van Susteren that “some folks really want to find a way to make race more of a part of their conversation going forward.”

“It’s baseless, but at the end of the day, if you find a way to perhaps fundraise off this election process for the — for some folks, maybe that’s not a good thing for them, but it’s not a good thing for the country,” Scott said.

National Association for the Advancement of Colored People President Benjamin Jealous told CNN on Wednesday that Scott had an “F” rating with the organization.

“We have Republicans who believe in civil rights — unfortunately he is not one of them,” Jealous said of Scott.

The former South Carolina congressman was sworn in to the Senate Thursday after being appointed by Gov. Nikki Haley (R) to fill Sen. Jim DeMint’s seat after he resigned to head the conservative think tank the Heritage Foundation.

Van Susteren pointed out that one of the measures the NAACP disagreed with Scott on had to do with EPA regulations for greenhouse gases.

“It’s almost laughable,” Scott said. “Unfortunately, some people take it pretty seriously. The way I really look at it, honestly, is that we have some serious issues and some serious opportunities, and I want to focus on the serious opportunities to move moving people forward.”

If you really want to have your eyes opened ( laughable / cry-able ) take a look at the NAACP organization and history with corruption , Graf , theft , and mis-management within its own doors !
This subject get little or no attention mainly because how embarrassing it would be for the race it represents .

I expect nothing less from the Communist NAACP – but the blaze, I expect more; Stop the headlines using race. The U.S.constitution covers civil rights very well – “establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, prove for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity.” Nuff said.

Face it. The NAACP would be out of business if they couldn’t peddle the myth of racism. And that cannot happen, because they are so involved in all sorts of nefarious activity (climate change business), they need the racism front to stay in business. We have a black president.   You’re right and Senator Tim Scott is such a threat to that. We need to pray for him, many don’t realize this is actually a spiritual battle, that “Spiritual wickedness in high places” that the Bible talks about. maybe the problem is we’re sending our principled people into the battle and then not holding our hands up in petitioning God for them enough. To face the devil’s front line and not be surrounded by the prayers of God’s people, is sure death. Let’s join together to pray for those going in with the principles this nation under God, has developed.

The ONLY black member of the senate and the NAACP wants to make him look bad?… Senator Tim Scott is talking about inspiring young people, quite the opposite of what the NAACP does.

And since they are focusing on color…is it just me…Tim Scott looks like a black man to me but Ben Jealous does not look very black at all. Maybe it’s just my monitor.

move people forward…he even used a democrat term and the NAACP still wants to complain! Oh, that’s right, they just want people to “lean” forward. Tim Scott wants people to actually “move” forward.

  The NAACP doesn’t like the fact that it has to share it’s oppression with Gay’s of all stripes, Hispanics, Asians & Pacific Islander, and American Indians. But that’s how they gain the PC majority, so that they can get all of the government goodies and gang up on the White man. The minorities are doing everything they can to enslave and oppress the white man. They go easy on the white woman only because they want the autonomy to choose a white woman if they want. I would have preferred The Blaze headline to have read “S.C. Senator Scott,” since anyone following his story already knows his ethnicity. This story does a great job of showing the bias of the NAACP without having to resort to racial finger pointing. So far, it looks like Senator Scott can hold his own against the Trogressives; I hope there is much more to come from him.

It is an enduring amazement at the way the Dems have… erm… whitewashed their history regarding civil rights and race relations in this country.

too often, now, the bastions for equality and advancement of rights of minorities seem more involved in gathering and maintaining their own power rather than empowering those they claim to protect. It’s no different than AARP or AMA, but at least those organizations are not taking their 30 pieces of silver from a party or government that once… no that repeatedly historically opposed the slow steps to freedom and equality.

And that now the same party encourages their enslavement as a welfare class and yet receives NAACP and similar gropu support would be laughable if it were not so tragic.

If your’re a bonafide racist, a member of a political party that once promoted physical enslavement of the masses, and now promotes legal and financial enslavement of the masses, like the Clinton’s who’ve been miked saying n***er, or Jamie Foxx and Spike Lee who have spoken of desires to kill whites, or Samuel Jackson; DemonicRat Robert Byrd, in the Senate for 50 FIFTY YEARS – grand poobah or something in the Democrat-founded KuKluxKlan, and on and on and on, the NAALCP (National Association for the Advancement of LIBERAL Colored People) holds you in good standing…

but if you’re a member of the party that FREED slaves and have an “R” next to your name, like Clarence Thomas, Thomas Sowell, Alan West, Charles Payne, Walter Williams, then you get treated like dirt by the racist uncle Tom’s at the NAALCP.

Who gave the NAACP the authority to determine who was “Black” or grade a persons “Blackness.” They are a bunch of arrogant race-baiters who continue by the very policies they support, to keep Black people, Black families and Black communities in an endless cycle of poverty, unemployment and stagnation. They have little time for successful Blacks that may be conservative and only push Blacks into government and teaching jobs (for those who insist on being employed)

He is VERY smart and has a backbone on top of that. He is now my favored senator since Demint is gone. Let’s just hope that he has the same staying power as Demint had when it comes to being corrupted by the corrupting system. I believe he does.
