Obama’s Labor Secretary: ‘We Saved Millions and Millions of Jobs’…by Extending Unemployment Benefits
Appearing on CNBC on Friday, President Barack Obama’s Labor Secretary Hilda Solis said “millions of jobs” were saved when Congress extended unemployment benefits in the “fiscal cliff” deal.
“What I think about is those two million people that would have lost their unemployment insurance. Because think about it, all that money that goes out in terms of what is being spent by that unemployment check, helps to generate $2 back into the community. So small businesses, everyone continues to keep their jobs,” Solis said.
“Just by the movement that the president made, we saved millions and millions of jobs.”

Posted on January 4, 2013 at 10:17pmWhat does the Government need money for?
Answer: Government Employees and the “Entitled”.
The Social Security Administration is a Private Company and only a contractor for the Gov’t.
They are responsible for the S.S. Trust fund. They are obligated to pay those who were promised.
Those who paid into S.S. and Medicare are “entitled”. The rest can go pound sand.
Time to Cut the Federal Government to about 10% of what it is, and cut off all Food Stamps and employment benefits, Gov’t subsidies, Grants, etc.
NO MORE UNAPPORTIONED FEDERAL INCOME TAX. All taxes would be apportioned (sales tax only) and collected by the states.
Quitting the U.N. and ending the Federal Reserve, is the only way we are going to save America from the Banksters.

Posted on January 4, 2013 at 10:20pmOk, let me try and explain the EDD to you, and please do not trash me. I was laid off from the mtg industry in late 2007. The start of this recession. I NEVER had to apply for extenstions, NEVER! I received after the 26 weeks notifications advising me that my extension had already been filed for me. Ok, so I took the bait. I took the 99 weeks. The FED/EDD NEVER made me or encouraged me. Out of the 99 weeks, I only had to show proof of looking for work for 12 weeks on and off. It was unbelievable! They accept websites, craiglist posting etc. In that time, I became extremely aware of what the plan is. This is what the Govt does to get people on the dole, in hopes that we will continue to do so. NOT! Call me what you want, I was on the beginning side of this indocrintation. I was a Democrat when I was laid off and now I am a total Conservative, coupon clipping, fiscally responsible person. Please do not trash me, because I truly believe that many of you and others were shook awake by losing their jobs. I have been fortunate in recent years not to have to go back to work and use this time to educate myself and others.

Liberals and Conservatives are ALL debt slaves to the International Bankster Cartel.
You don’t have to be one or the other, either. Being an American is about Individuality.

Gun Rights – I am Conservative
Gays rights – I am Liberal
Fiscal Responsibility – I am Conservative
Legalizing Drugs – I am Liberal
Constitution – I am Conservative
War – I am Liberal (opposed to these Campaigns)
I was clueless 4 -5 years ago to what was going on. I wasn’t even aware of the media bias.

This is because u gave federal funds to people to buy everyday living needs… The problem is that u do not do anything to increase the supply of these goods… Food energy clothes… So what you see is more demand for basic things, with no incentive to increase supply… Thus an increase in the cost of living and a lowering oh the standard of living for all of society by providing excessive unemployment benefits.. The outcome is an increase in the costs of basic goods

It’s an insurance policy, not a government program. People receiving unemployment insurance paid for the benefits. The insured only receive benefits when strict conditions are met. You don’t receive benefits if you quit a job. You don’t receive benefits unless you look for work.
If the premiums have to be adjusted, so be it.

Posted on January 4, 2013 at 10:07pmLizardbreath: Unemployment Insurance (UI) is very much a government program, actually 55 separate ones. Workers in each state, D.C., Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Federal civilian employees, and military veterans separated under honorable conditions may file claims and collect benefits if certain conditions are met. Such benefits in most cases last for a maximum of six months. In cases of high unemployment there are extensions which may be made available. Then first set of UI benefits are paid for by funds the taxes paid by employers provide. Most of those funds have been depleted by current economic events. The tax rates on employers in severely hit states must rise to build up the exhausted funds. In the two federal programs as well as all the extensions, money is paid out of the federal treasury. That’s when all of us who pay taxes are on the hook and the gravy train won’t run for ever.

The problem with people like you, is that when someone gets something for nothing in our society, someone else pays a price. Another example, the recent payroll tax increase that is shocking a lot of folks, let’s tax the wealthy more, so the middle class pays more in the end. Look at France right now, the only thing that they are exporting is wealthy people. Who is going to end up paying for their stupid socialist state?. Posted on January 5, 2013 at 6:41amWhy do you associate pot smoking with leftists? You seem to not understand the following:
1. There are many on the right who smoke weed recreationally, particularly lots of libertarians.
2. There is no correlation between marijuana usage and being on public assistance – this has been extensively studied.
3. The “gateway” theory is total mythology. The truth is hard core addicts of any drug are almost always people with serious emotional/psychological/personality disorders.
That doesn’t mean all pot smokers are responsible – neither are all beer drinkers. You guys on the right need to stop lumping together Progressive-Marxism with Atheism and pot smoking. I’m a pot smoking, small “l” libertarian (meaning i’m not an anarchist kook or Ron Paul supporter), more along the lines of Friederich Hayek’s views. There are many of us out here who are so tired of the right just lumping these things together and smearing people.
Fyi, I’m in the top 2% income-wise, am an executive, have raised an amazing daughter and accomplished tremendous things in my life. I also don’t drink alcohol because it makes me feel sick afterwards and also makes me do stupid things while drunk that I often regretted later. Not the case on weed. You do have to be careful not to smoke too much as it does make you spacey. I also am surprised that so many people of my generation (I’m 50) are such absolutists about weed given how commonly it was used by us and our peers.
