Publish Gun Owners’ Info? Ann Coulter: Release The Records of Women Who Have Had Abortions, Too
On Thursday night, Ann Coulter brought her unvarnished logic to the ongoing discussion about releasing the names and addresses of gun owners. The statement comes early in a spirited back-and-forth with Sean Hannity on his Fox News program.

Image: Fox News screen capture
Hannity and Coulter started out talking about the publishing of gun owners’ names and addresses by the Journal-News in New York. Coulter pointed out the hypocrisy of releasing the names of law-abiding gun owners but not the names of criminals in the area”
Why aren’t we getting names of recently paroled criminals? People with gun permits, by definition, do not have criminal records. Why can’t we get the criminal records? No, you can’t get that.
Ms. Coulter continued to extend her line of thinking and brought up women who have had abortions:
Why can’t we get a record of women who have had abortions? They get money from Planned Parenthood, they get money from Medicare, from Medicaid. Much of this is…they’re tax subsidies. I think, you know, mothers might want to know what other women on their street might be willing to murder a child.
The entire segment from Hannity’s Show is here. (The comment in question starts about 1:10 into the video.)

Posted on January 4, 2013 at 1:44pmFirst and foremost, Ann Coulter is being a dumb@$$ for suggesting that two wrongs make a right.
Secondly, Ann Coulter, supposedly a Conservative, should be pointing to the TRUSTEE’S Fourth Amendment rule in the TRUST that tells them that they, as public servants and TRUSTEES, can NOT Infringe on the Privacy of the Beneficiaries:
THATS RIGHT !!!! The Government is a TRUST !!!!!

Posted on January 4, 2013 at 1:52pmnaughtycal – If we abided by the US Constitution, Congress could not make a law that conflicted with or superceded that promised in the US Constitution. However, the States could alter the US Constitution and thereby change the Second Amendment. This would be constitutionally permissible. However, I don’t see the States making this effort.
Unfortunately, the government and courts have been violating the US Constitution almost since its inception.

Posted on January 4, 2013 at 2:22pm@MikeMoron – uhh, that was her point – she is pointing out the absurd by being absurd. Guns are legal. Abortions are legal. Whether you own a gun is your PRIVATE business. Whether you got an abortion is your PRIVATE business.
She is not suggesting that we publish their names – she is show how ABSURD it is to do either.
But the lib-tards don’t care. They are afraid of freedom, they are afraid of failure – so they don’t even try… if they do try and fail, it is ALWAYS someone else’s fault, there is ALWAYS an excuse.
So, kiss all your privacy away. Soon the govt will have the medical records of every American, electricity use of every household. Obama is a master at pitting Americans against each other. Soon your neighbor will be ratting you out for legally owning a firearm, or stockpiling food and water. Very SOVIET of obama. He learned well from his communist mentor.

Posted on January 4, 2013 at 2:25pmThe difference would be that to purchase a gun you have to create a public record. But Ann’s precept is correct, regarding the paper’s policy. Parolee’s are public record, so why haven’t they published those. In the case of abortion, it is an analog politically. Clearly the paper is publishing the names because they are trying to embarrass and/or harass the owners because of their own political ideology (anti 2nd amendment), if you did the same but were pro-life you could take pictures of woman as their leaving an abortion clinic and print the pictures in the paper (this would be wrong, but it is the same in principle).

The tenth amendment couldn’t clearer…all power not granted to or denied to the congress shall revert back to the state…..The second amendment denies Congress the right to remove a citizens right to bear arms. Since Congress is denied the right so goes the state. Using your logic states could literally deny blacks the right to vote…. The Bill of rights are absolutes rights to all legal U.S. citizen.
Any legislation that is passed must abide by Constitutional standard or it can be challenged. The second amendment was written in such away to not be misunderstood. simple plan language.
The only way to change would be for a nation wide vote to amend it. And since government has shown what it does it you let a foot get in the door It aint gonna happen

Posted on January 4, 2013 at 3:30pmIf we had that nifty abortion list the men would be able to know the women that are willing to take a shot and get things “taken care of”. This way there wouldn’t be so many single dudes hanging out in front of planned parenthood looking for a date. They could just do it online like everything else.
Also, sites like eharmony and match could automagically list how many abortions each woman has had. They could call it their S1ut Meter.

Since a death has occurred after an abortion, that would be like showing the records of a murderer. If you want to post gun owners’ info, release the info on any woman who’s ever visited an abortion clinic; after all, not everyone who owns a gun has committed murder- only an infinitesimally small number have. And certainly not everyone who’s ever visited a clinic has gotten an abortion.
I suspect the percentage of women who’ve visited a clinic and gotten an abortion is much higher than gun owners who’ve actually killed someone, though. Just sayin’.

Posted on January 4, 2013 at 11:00amThe only, and I mean the ONLY way that liberals can be made to understand how completely idiotic their proposals are is to put things into terms that they can understand. Suggesting that women who have had abortions names be published is a fantastic way to make them see how stupid the idea of publishing gun owners names and addresses is. I would have gone one step further; I would have mentioned that by publishing the names and addresses of women who have aborted babies, it would allow for churches to quickly provide outreach to these women. Watch the sparks fly when the liberals think that God-fearing Christians might come to their door to ask them to repent. It’s certainly no worse than providing criminals with a database on who to rob and who to avoid. (By the way, I don’t support publishing either the names and addresses of gun owners nor the names and addresses of abortion participants – but forcing liberals to consider it helps make the point. I DO SUPPORT free mental health care for liberals as non-classic liberalism/statism is clearly a mental disease.)

What the law says isn’t the definition of right and wrong. Laws as you refer to them here are simply agreements that people make with each other regarding how we will live and interact with each other.
There are higher laws than man’s law: Natural Law and God’s Laws. Abortion – the intentional murder of an unborn baby – violates both Natural Law and God’s Laws.
Just because people like Joe Biden or Michelle Obama or Nancy Pelosi say that something is acceptable in our society, that doesn’t mean it is morally right.

Posted on January 4, 2013 at 11:27amActually PAPAL….
Only 29 States have “fetal homicide” laws and there have only been a couple of convictions when the fetus is within the legal abortion periods allotted by those respective states, as doing so would contradict the legal definition of “personhood”, and very few jurisdictions are willing to tackle this in a way that would potentially get the Supreme Court involved- due to the obvious ramifications on Roe v Wade. All of those cases are currently under appeal BTW.
Instead, these laws are slowly being slipped in, and applied very carefully, and judiciously, as they are the “back door” to eventual abortion prohibition. It’s a very effective Pro-Life tactic. The more convictions that are quietly upheld in this regard, the more precedents are set for reversing Roe v Wade.

Do yourselves a favor and actually respond to what someone says, not what you wish they had said. It’s the only way to be productive.

I would have to disagree…. And so would Rosa Parks, MLK Jr, and Susan B Anthony. Civil disobedience (breaking the law) can have a huge impact when it comes to creating change in law. There are many cases all over the world and going back through out history in which civil disobedience has changed laws. Done correctly, breaking the law can without a doubt strengthen an arguments credibility.

Not when it violates the rights of other people. Releasing personal medical information is a clear violation of privacy. And there’s a difference here too; Susan B Anthony or Rosa Parks might be the faces of the movements, but you can all but guarantee that they were not the ones involved in actually changing the laws of the country. We have faces for the anti-abortion movement: millions of them, in fact. Ann Coulter is NOT an effective face for it.
And unlike Parks or Anthony, Coulter is doing this for the money, not because her personal rights are being violated.

It’s idiotic. It’s wrong for gun permit holders’ information to be released, and it’s wrong for private citizens’ medical information to be released.

Even if Coulter herself wouldn’t actually support this happening (and I personally think she’d be fine with it), the fact that so many posters like YOU think it’s a great idea shows what dire straits we’re in.

Posted on January 4, 2013 at 1:56pmActually, CENTER, depending on what stats you use, my statement was an UNDERSTATEMENT. Guns were used to STOP crime nearly 3 million times in 2011. The total number of crimes committed where a gun was in ANY WAY involved was only 450k…that includes drug busts and any other warrant served where a gun was simply in the house, or an assault or robbery or whatever where the gun WASN’T USED but was merely in the perps possession. That is about six times more likely that a gun is used to stop a crime. If you take only the crimes where the gun was an “active participant”, then that ratio doubles. If you go to just the number of gun deaths, then my “thousand times” figure is just about right…what say you now?

Not riled at all. I’m happy to respond.
“Do you really want THIS governments laws being deciding factor on what you label as “murder”?”
As far as I know, “THIS government” (presumably you mean the Obama administration?) has not made any new laws redefining murder. If they change the definition to claim that killing certain races or religions does not constitute murder, then I’ll definitely be against it.
“Or really ANY label of “right or wrong”?”
The government should not (and by and large is not) be the arbiter of what is right and wrong. They are the arbiter of what is legal in the country. It’s been that way since… oh, since we’ve had any government, not just the US. And legality is not inherently a moral judgment. For example, as fellow Christians we know that remarriage after divorce is adultery. Adultery in the Bible is immoral (and in the OT, punishable by death). But I don’t think the government should refuse to allow divorce or remarriage just because an action might not align with biblical morality, nor do I think we should put people to death if they remarry.
It is up to each individual to decide for themselves what is right and wrong. If they break the law while doing so, they’ll be punished by the law. And if they break God’s laws while doing so, God will decide their ultimate fate.

Yes Coulter gets paid for what she does but that doesn’t mean that is the full reason for why she is doing it. Simply put, you don’t know her real motivation. Maybe it is for money, or maybe she truly believes, like millions of others in the US, that abortions are murder and is trying to protect the humans that cant protect themselves.
I find it somewhat odd that scientists, medical professionals, and educators pretty much all say that the human life cycle begins at conception, yet we still have to have a discussion on whether abortion kills humans.

Abortion.

“Now try and tell me from the unborn child’s perspective what you would call it?”
From a fetus’s perspective? It doesn’t have one. It has no consciousness. It has no cognition. You don’t know what it is from the fetus’s perspective either because a fetus doesn’t have the kind of thinking that you and I have.
I think abortion is morally wrong, as does the Bible. I do not equate killing a fetus to killing a person… same as the Bible. That’s my own view (based on the Bible), and I understand there are those who think abortion is not a sin or that a fetus is somehow not alive. I disagree with them.

I have had a number of discussions on this subject and have found that most people will only state their opinion. It is in an area where the discussion gets to the ‘Why’s’ of the subject I have made some very sad observations. This is one reason I am reluctant to engage in this type of format. But I will share my concerns because I have hopes Glenn will engage as I feel this subject is the core of his current quest.
I have found when the discussion gets to the ‘Why’, things change. For an example: when consciousness comes in I begin to become alerted of a damaged psych. The percentages in my personal experience are extremely high. It alerts me of instability and tendencies to violence. In a real discussion while in the lion’s den (in a room where my voice was the only dissenting view of 8), past consciousness and ‘what else do you get when you unite a human sperm with a human egg other than a human being?’ The reply was a dog or a cat! Yes, I use the word irrational and absurd for a reason but at this time it led to a tear. I understood at that time he had been consumed, all 8 were in agreement as a den has that as a characteristic. This man was psychologically damaged, after the den dispersed I tried to calm the rage within him but was physically rebutted. Two days later, very sadly, this man shot his brains out with a shotgun in front of his wife and children.

I am suggesting the “legality” of murder causes very serious consequences in the human psych and is a contributor to the violence we are seeing in America today.

How else could it work?
Understand, it is no accident that the (Leftist) Government and Media agree on virtually every point. The effort to convince people that killing a human being is perfectly acceptable as as old as Government itself. It gives the Government the “right” to kill anyone they care to. We are now killing US Citizens with drones but no trial. And no complaints. We kill Murderers and we kill Babies. Life is not sacred according to our Law, for *some* people.
Keep your mouth shut and do what you’re told or you could be one of the people it is acceptable to kill.
Americans are largey idiots. Most people are. That’s why Government is so successful. And people are in such misery.
The bottom line for me?
“As democracy is perfected, the office of the president represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart’s desire at last and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.”

Releasing medical records IS illegal. It would be like releasing the names of everyone who has testicular cancer or gonorrhea.
A more appropriate response would be to release the names of everyone on food stamps, or everyone who collects welfare.
Also, i know of several Pro-Life activists that have had an abortion, and became Pro-Lifers after suffering serious psychological trauma, and guilt, after understanding exactly what they did to the life they carried. Many of these people were brainwashed into believing life began at birth only to painfully realize that they were lied to.

Posted on January 4, 2013 at 11:27amI’m on disability, and I still mow my lawn, cut fire wood, wash my car, and even make a little money under the table. I make to much money to get food stamps, but if I could get them I would.
Yup, I get a check every month, but that doesn’t mean I have to quit living just because you don’t like it. You’re going to keep paying my bills, and I’m going to keep living high on the hog on my $964.00 a month. Oh, I forgot. You’re paying a little under $15000.00 a month to keep me alive plus the 1.2 million that you’ve already paid for medical procedures. Thanks!!!
Doesn’t spending all of that money to keep a hardcore progressive alive just make your blood boil? Good!!!

Posted on January 4, 2013 at 12:03pmsoooo, you’re HAPPY to be a leech and a piece of garbage? Huh, I guess that explains a lot…here I thought most people actually wanted to be a contributor and saw some value in EARNING what they got. That is way I struggle everyday, making 26K a year to feed a family of 5 without taking a SINGLE CENT of government money…because I’m a real man, and a real father and husband. I thank God everyday as I fight to feed my family that no matter how hard life is, at least I’m not a worthless POS like you.

Posted on January 4, 2013 at 1:05pmFirst off unless you have seen the check and verifyed the identity of the recepient assuming they are on disability is useless. What you think welfare scamers [whether terror cells organized crime or other]routinely use their own names? What you may have seen is either a victim of Id theft or a target[Terror cells dont like changing ids.The idea is to all out ruin the individuals life.If the original way of killing them doesn't work then suicide is another option.IdTheft is another tool of achieving this]
to other poster
You must work for a mininum quarters in the last ten years to currently qualify for disability.

As usual you don’t have a clue. I worked for 43 years before I became disabled with terminal cancer. Though I didn’t work for 26k a year because I had a better paying job because of my education. So I don’t care what you think of people on disability. I worked for it, and I’m entitled to it because I earned it. You keep paying, I’ll keep spending it.

Posted on January 4, 2013 at 5:33pmOLD…”as usual”? Didn’t know you knew me well enough to make that claim, but go for it. Either way, if you can mow your lawn and chop wood, yet draw disability, you are a leech plain and simple…I love you attempt at saying I’m uneducated. University of Michigan school of engineering over here, how bout you bud?
I have both physical and metal issues from my service to this country, and was offered FULL disability by the army, which in cash alone is about 35k a year…I turned it down flat, because I am able bodied and not a freeloader

Posted on January 4, 2013 at 9:34amRemember the Curious Case of Juan Lazaro / Mikhail Vasenkov who was one of the Russian spies sent quietly back to Mother Russia in 2009 by the Obama Administration ? That Russian guy, using his alias, was teaching at CUNY ! Good old “progressive ” New York ! No biggie . Just the usual Communist in residence at an American university. McCarthy must be twirling in his grave…

Posted on January 4, 2013 at 9:16amI have an even better idea. Stop registering firearms in the few states that do (New York, NJ, Illinois). There’s no public record if you don’t register. They can’t pull this stunt in Ohio, or Wyoming for example, as I don’t need to “register” any firearm I legally acquire.
The solution, as always, is less government, not more, and it keeps this whole tit for tat thing in the can.

Posted on January 4, 2013 at 9:39amHow about drop the gun owner permits. After all that infringes the 2nd amendment. The 2nd amendment says nothing about having to get a permit to keep and bare arms. It says the right to keep and bare arms shall not be infringed. They want to infringe more and the permitting allows this. Don’t register your constitutionally allowed guns.

CHANGE THE LAW
Or, as so many of you like to offer: If you don’t like it… Leave. Folks have the choice. Go to where the laws are as you like them.

Actually, don’t change the law. Get the case up before SCOTUS and get it struck down. There should be NO LAW like this, not a revised law that only does certain infringements and not others.
And a man should not have to leave the home of his family (for generations) because some rogue politicians decide to violate his rights. NY and NJ really need their few patriots there to get the stones to get the legal ball rolling in courts.
