Senator Barney Frank? Former Congressman Says He Has Asked to Be Appointed

WASHINGTON (AP) — Just-retired Rep. Barney Frank says he’d like to serve as a temporary successor to Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry, the secretary of state nominee.

Frank tells MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” that he’s asked Gov. Deval Patrick to appoint him.

The Democratic governor will be required to fill Kerry’s seat with an interim appointment, while setting a day for the special election between 145 days and 160 days after Kerry’s resignation.

Patrick has said he expects the interim appointee won’t run in the special election. Frank says he doesn’t want the job for the long term.

He previously had said he didn’t want the appointment. But the 72-year-old Democrat, who served 16 terms and headed the House Financial Services Committee, now says the next few months will be important for the nation’s finances.

Knowing Barney is only in it for himself he probably sees more pension dollars for serving a short stint as senator.

Exactly spot on…Barney is an expert at raking in the Govt cash. Couple months as a US Senator and his retirement jumps substantially.

16 terms of the blind leading the blind is enough. Frank isn’t EVEN from the State of Mass. is he?
Frank is a criminal. He needs to spend time in a 4X4 cell, not playing alinsky on the Potomac on The Nations payroll.

Rightly so, MRUNNER! Frank-n-Dodds, with the full support of the Clintons and the rest of the DC libs are fully responsible for the housing crisis. They used the greed on Wall Street as well as the irresponsibility of the low information voters to pull it off.

Oh dear Obozo, Bawney has been ruining this country since the early 70′s. He finally agrees to settle down with his husband, and smoke ou,t and run a banana brothel in the Boston area, and now this.
How pathetic Boston MA has become, yous people suck. Only Obozo lied on his harvard application more than the Cherokee Squal. Bawny doesn’t think he can win by himself so he has to ask to appointed for the good of the country? What a pathetic country destroyer.

I’m sure Barney looks at it as an opportunity to screw up the country even more than he did as a member of The House. These inept, corrupt, pompous s.o.b.’s will do whatever they can to see that no dollar is left unspent. Frank has been one of the leaders in ******* away America’s wealth. Now he wants a chance to double down.

Just unable to actually get and hold a real job. Another great reason for term limits. Career politician who have done nothing but drink the sweet milk of taxpayer money with no responsibility. In fact, with adverse effects. Wasn’t this bozo at the heart of the real estate bust.

Read my mind. He spent too long in DC and now can’t get a job because: 1. he spent too much time in DC; and 2. he and Dodd helped to destroy the country’s job opportunities.

uhm, sorry, Congressman, but the HOUSE is supposed to originate financial bills, so your presence in the Senate would be of little import.

Not to mention that sadly Bohner has allowed Reid to run the show, and the last thing we need is for you to help author another bill like those that sunk the housing market and the banks out of your misguided notion of what the ‘poor’ and the ‘minorities’ in this nation need in order to get a ‘fair’ shake.

    No thank you, indeed.
Wing off to Fiji with your fat government pension and enjoy the surf.

No. Thirty-two years in the House eh? The next 3 months will be the most important financially in our country eh? Why? How much deeper are you going to go into our pockets? I don’t know which side he is on (probably bad), but if he’s already been in government all these years during this constant USA downfall… it’s probably not such a good idea.
