U.K. Publisher Apologizes for Textbook Labeling Map of Israel ‘Occupied Palestine’

A U.K. publisher has apologized for a textbook map that labeled Israel as “Occupied Palestine.”

A U.K. publisher has apologized for a “serious editorial error” in a textbook that labeled a map of Israel as “Occupied Palestine.”

British teacher Liz Wiseman told Israel Today that she came across the map in a 2003 edition of “Skills in English Writing — Level 1.”

“I teach English as a foreign language in a further education college in Nottingham, England. I came across the attached map and couldn’t believe my eyes!” Wiseman said.

Publisher Garnet Education called the label a “genuine mistake,” saying that version of the book has not been in print for several years and was corrected shortly after publication, though there are apparently old copies still floating around.

“This was a serious editorial error and was subsequently corrected. The book in question has not been in print for several years,” Garnet posted on its website. “Please accept our sincere apologies for any offense caused but rest assured that this was a genuine mistake and in no way reflects any Garnet Education policy.”

Wiseman told Israel Today she was not required to use the book, but said it was one of the more popular English as a second language texts.

Garnet said it’s unlikely many institutions are still using the 2003 edition as “the life cycle of education materials tends to be relatively short.” The publisher said it has no remaining stock of the book and is trying to track down institutions that may still be using it.

“This mistake pre-dates the existing editorial team so it is difficult to understand exactly what happened. We have checked the manuscript submitted by the authors and this did not include the map or a brief for the map so the blame does not rest with them,” Garnet posted.

Just look at the MAP ITSELF. That only goes to emphasize the insanity of Israel’s enemies. Without anything else being said. Think about it, what if New York City said, we are going to BOMB one particular square FOOT of New York City that DISTURBS all New York City because it EXISTS.

My sister and I both had a son, and they were 6 months apart – when we got tired of the bickering over toys in the back seat, we took ALL toys out of the car. They fought as hard all the way there and back, we stopped and said, what did you sneak into the car you are fighting over. THEIR TIGHTLY CLOSED FISTS WERE EMPTY when we got them pried open, and they grinned like cheshire cats, when we got them open.

Apologize? For what? Telling the truth? Running the lies idiot Christians in America are told and regurgitate on command?   A genuine mistake is labeling Israel as Jordan, Cyprus, or as nothing at all. Since their is no such place as “occupied Palestine” somebody that hates Israel had to do that on purpose. A textbook printer should realize that:

A mistake is fashioned when an unintentional error occurs. A misspelling is a mistake. A factual error is a mistake.

For one to call Israel, “Occupied Palestine”, is not a mistake. It is a deliberate edit. If the person that made the change, was “unaware” of the real name of Israel, this person needs to be sent back to school… preferably homeschooling, where they won’t have their brain damaged by a progressive agenda.

Otherwise, there is a person, with a political agenda employed at that company.

The British did not give the name Palestine to the territory. The Roman emperor Hadrian did. It was WW I and not WWII. All the people in that territory were called Palestinians both Jew and Arab. The League of Nations were the ones that partitioned Palestine. The French got control of what is now Syria and Lebanon, while England got control of Trans Jordan. England partitioned it into Jordan and what BECAME to be called Israel. After Israel became a nation (With UN approval) those that lived in Israel called themselves Israelis. Those that lived in Jordan continued to call themselves Palestinians until King Hussein started calling his people Jordanians. When King Hussein kicked Yasser Arafat out of Jordan for causing discord and potential revolution his splinter group was called Palestinians

a brief recent history of the area… the EGYPTIANS lost with the Axis at the end of World War II.
The creation of an Israeli state was in answer to the crimes against humanity by the Axis during that war.
The displaced people were Egyptians, not ‘palestinians’ which were then refused relocation by then Egyptian president.
The ‘palestinians’ have been a pawn ever since, whether to Middle Eastern nations hostile to Israel or religious zealots hostile to judiasm.
Mothers who allow children to martyr themselves, and terrorists who have NO interest in peaceful coexistence because it would steal their power are typical of ‘palestinians.’ to be sure many palestinians want to live in peaceful coexistence… they work in Israel and can not deny the paradise the state has created out of a desert, compared to the surrounding nations. but the ‘powers’ in the neighboring states and among the ‘palestinian people’ have forever placed self interest over that of ‘their people,’ in part because there is not really a ‘their people.’
and when the liberals in charge of what our kids learn across the globe make ‘honest mistakes’ it is not a mistake that it was labeled with a flair for revisionist history, but a mistake that it was caught by thinking educated people, rather than slipped into the indoctrination of a generation of kids.

Worst, this sad pathetic attitude, if successful, will only breed another population that would destroy the publisher as an infidel.

  Immediately after Israel was created, they were attacked from all sides. They won. They won lots of land. They gave it all back in a peace agreement. A few years later they were attacked again. Again Isreal won a lot of land and gave it all back. The 3rd time they were attacked, they gave back most of the land, but kept some for defensive purposes – ie the indefensible ’67 borders were no more, and Isreal had a fair shot at defending themselves.
  
  And for the morons out there, the “palistinians” have only ONE non-negotiable point to all of their negotiations – the end of Israel’s existence. If you agree they should get their land back, and you are American, may I suggest you give everything you own to an American Indian tribe… after all YOU USED THE MOST TERRORISTIC TACTICS EVER DEVISED BY MAN TO TAKE THEIR LAND AWAY, INCLUDING THE FIRST USE OF GERM WARFARE IN HISTORY. Additionally, the “error” is not now nor was it ever factual, so it cannot be blamed on information being “borrowed” or “sourced” elsewhere unless the source was some militant hyper partisan group like Hamas or Hezbollah or the Muslim Brotherhood!

When I was in High School circa 90′s and asking where “Palestine” was? The teacher said it never was there, just some place that the British map makers labeled as such after the collapse of the Ottoman empire and it took most of Jordan to Iraq.

Also, when are they going to openly label California “Occupied Mexico” and push to give it back to Mexico over let them just turn it into Mexico and stay a US State. There is only one group that has more claim the the land they are on and it is not Mexico or “Palestine”.

  There is a simple reason to deny Palestine existed. UN universal human Rights Act 13. Act 13 states all displaced people can leave their home country AND RETURN to their home country. If there was no country you can’t go back. The US and Israel tried their damnedest to get it changed to state “leave” only. It’s pure Jewish propaganda. As is the crap they pull in the US over Christians. Propaganda. Goes way back. CI Scofield, etc
  .. They pushed out your Jesus and his chill love thy neighbor, treat the least of you position, and replaced it with Israel, god, and war.

Part of Israel is occupied territory. It is occupied by arab squatters who call themselves palestinians. These squatters live mainly in Gaza, but many also live in the West Bank.

I’m a European and this kind of stuff isn’t just in the classroom, it’s in our media too.

Whenever you see a Euro news agency saying “a group of youths committed X act of violence, theft, rape, murder” what they mean is Middle Eastern and African immigrants, usuallt Muslim. “Youth” is their codeword.

Our own media is brainwashing people against Israelis and supporting Muslims.

My kids 6th grade history book had the 2nd Amendment listed as applying only to the national guard and the police. This was right around the time of Clinton’s communist Goals 2000 progrom.

I taught my kids right, and gave the teacher the what-for, because he knew better.

I have a hard time believing that. It’s not like Israel just opened their doors for business. The country has been around a while and occupies nothing they did not earn as a spoil of war that they did not start.
Maybe not the current editorial teams fault but and accident. I don’t think so.

This is outrageous and that publisher will be hearing from me and in no uncertain terms I’ll make it clear that the text is correct and shouldn’t be changed. If he’s lucky I’ll allow him to apologize to me by kissing my ring,the one with the inscription Islam the one true religion. I won’t allow him to kiss my wedding ring to my beard because that wedding was for political expediency only. Praise be to me BHO.
