Reddit Photo Shows Drunk Man Bound With Duct Tape on Flight From Reykjavik to John F. Kennedy

This man was so violent on the flight he had to be restrained. (Photo via Reddit)

This is the image of an airplane passenger posted on Reddit by a fellow traveler. The man was allegedly so drunk on his flight from Reykjavik, Iceland, to John F. Kennedy Airport in New York, that he had to be bound and gagged with duct tape for the duration of the flight.

Here’s what was posted on the Reddit thread about the incident:

He drank an entire bottle of some duty free alcohol. Then he tried grabbing the women who were sitting next him screaming that we’re going to crash. Finally he started chocking a guy next to him and that’s when a huge crowd restrained him and tied him up. This was 2 hours into a 6 hour flight.

Edit: Did I mention that he was spitting on random people on the plane!

According to the Icelandic publication MBL (via New York Post and Google Translate), the tape was part of safety equipment on board the aircraft to “deal with such situations,” Guðjón Arngrímsson with the airline said.

“When that happens the person is then monitored all the time, ” Arngrímsson said.

The New York Post reported that the man would not be prosecuted for his actions.

The alcohol stuff is a big fat lie. This is what happens when the libs take over national security. He’s a political prisoner. To help him defray the costs of defense, please got to:

RJ, it’s true, I wrote that post just after being released from a FEMA rehabilitation facility where I was interred involuntarily for mental illness, specifically being in favor of taking care of the poor and supporting legislation that banned guns whose only purpose is to kill lots of innocent people. But I’m better now. Thank goodness though they showed me the error of my ways! They made me see where I was wrong.

Now, remorseful for my former beliefs, I’m just trying to fit it here and please my parole officer.

You how I got out? By writing this sincere diary entry: “Obama wants to take away our guns! He always has. Tomorrow, or the day after, the Feds could crash down my door and confiscate my guns, in violation of the Second Amendment! But I’m prepared, both with food and extra water, and, of course lots of semiautomatic with hundred round magazines. And some special edition gold coins I bought at the recommendation of an intelligent AM radio personality. Let them try to come take my guns away!”

RJ, I’m just trying to be sane. Don’t you agree I’ve come a long way?

Please be nice to me. I don’t want to revert to my former altruistic view of the world. I really want to believe that it’s every man for himself and to heck with everybody else! And I want to work for the Walton’s!

Guys, this does strike me as rather funny in a different way. I’ve done a few prisoner escorts on aircraft and our briefings prior prohibited us from putting them in hand irons on the flight IAW FAA regs. The exception was under extreme conditions caused by the prisoner himself. While on layovers in an airport, that was a different animal altogether at our discretion. Then in ’92 I was able to work another larger escort from the Mannheim, Germany facility with our first stop in Philadelphia where the prisoners spent the night in the Naval Brig. Mid morning the following day we boarded one of the U.S. Marshal prisoner aircraft. I can tell you from first hand experience that everything that you saw in Con Air was total BS. Those prisoners were shackled to shorten their stride, then the chains reached to the one around each waist, where there was just enough chain that led to their hand irons that would allow them to eat from their box lunches if they bent over far enough. And, we were told not to handcuff prisoners on aircraft? LOL!

Easy, they use the duct tape to instantly clean the mess. There is nothing you cannot do with duct tape.

Your point is well taken of course. No matter how bad he is, taping his mouth like that is inhuman and quite dangerous, especially since they know he’s wasted.
