Gunman, 3 Victims Dead After Police Standoff at Aurora Home

AURORA, Colo. (AP) — Four people, including an armed suspect, died after an hours-long police standoff Saturday at a Colorado townhome, authorities said.

Police Sgt. Cassidee Carlson said a SWAT team was called after gunshots were heard at the Aurora, Colo., home at about 3 a.m. Investigators said three victims, all of them adults, appeared to have been killed before officers arrived.

Carlson said the suspect shot at officers at about 8:15 a.m. and was killed during a gunfight about 45 minutes later when police entered the home. It remained unclear if officers shot the suspect or if he shot himself.

A motive for the killings also was unknown.

“We’re just getting in there with our crime scene detectives, so obviously we’ll have to determine if it was our rounds or his rounds,” Carlson said. “This is a big investigation, and a lot is entailed.”

A fifth person escaped uninjured before officers arrived and reported that she saw three people inside the home who “appeared lifeless,” Carlson said. The sergeant declined to elaborate about the woman’s escape.

Police declined to release the name of the suspect or the victims.

Violence marred Aurora and put the Denver suburb in the national spotlight nearly six months ago when a gunman’s bloody rampage inside a movie theater left 12 people dead. Prosecutors will go to court Monday to outline their case against the suspect, James Holmes.

I Live in Aurora Colorado 10 minutes from the theater. The city is fine I dont have a gun but three large dogs at my house. My children ride bikes in the front of my house and they go to a good charter school. I dont live in fear and dont live in a rich white area even though i could afford it.
Dont care if people have guns and dont want to ban any, some people live in fear and some some people live with God on their side and serve God.
Others live in rich areas where the parents are on Drugs and children on other drugs.
Non story just a blze scare
Non story to me. Guns are not a problem and guns will not save you either.

  Can’t agree guns won’t save you, though… Too many proven examples otherwise.
  I wish blaze had a more complete picture… Home owner? Intruder? Gun from the house? Legal gun?
  
  It is a shame aurora gets another black eye in the media over this; it’s a great suburb.

  Guns won’t save you???? You obviously missed the story of how a woman shot an intruder 5 times to SAVE herself & her children. You obviously missed the point of THIS article in which guns SAVED the police who risk their lives to enter the Aurora home to end the violence. You obviously missed the story of how a teenage girl who used a gun to SAVE herself & her brother from an intruder. While I agree with you GUNS ARE NOT THE PROBLEM, GUNS SAVE MORE LIVES EVERY YEAR BY FAR.

I watched a show online last night that said that the mother of Adam Lanza in CT was a CIA agent. And that Adam had been on pharma meds most of is life. There are still things, again we are not being told in ALL of these slaughters. Is the media being told what they can and can’t say? Why even tell these stories if the truth is never found? Use crisis for government agenda’s? There is no one to trust anymore at all…is that another one of the goals?

  What? A CIA Agent? If that is true, that means either she was a totally stupid inept CIA agent, or something is just not right with this entire picture.
  
  As to him being on meds, yes, that’s been reported, although the mainstream media certainly don’t like talking about that — they’re rather demonize the guns he used. His mother payed the ultimate price for being stupid regardless as you don’t let a person not entirely in charge of their mental facilities have access to guns.
  
  I’ve also heard that the Bushmaster he was supposed to have used was found in the trunk … as well as the 2nd gunman found in the woods was his brother … but then no more talk about these things? Did he or did he not use an AR15? Was his brother in the woods? If so, why? If not, who was in the woods? Anyone? Something is not being completely reported on here it seems like.

Kill em all,let God sort em out,seems to be the motto of the American lawman nowadays.
I think there should be independent civilian investigators involved when cops storm a residence and all occupants are dead,and they have to get in there and figure out if they were his bullets or the cops. recently,too many people end up dead at the hands of cops and the facts are always unknown. I had more respect for law enforcement when they operated on facts first,instead of shooting first and asking questions later.

since when is it SOP to send a SWAT team to a residence because someone reported shots fired at the residence? sometimes neighbors mistakenly report a car backfiring as gunshots and make false reports. there also has been cases of gun grabbers making false reports about crimes at known gun owners houses so those gun owners are raided by police. and with newspapers reporting the names and addresses of registered gun owners, I expect to see more gun owners victimized to be disarmed.

  As a resident of Aurora, I can tell you that we do not have the most professional police force in the world.
  
  It is well known around here that the cops are poorly trained, trigger happy and extremely racist.

Have you been through their Police Academy, or even a Citizen Academy where you can actually learn about how the men and women sworn to protect you actaully do their job? Unless you are prepared to spend 20 years doing their job, knowing you may have to defend yourself on a daily basis against druggies, thiefs, burglars, murderers, rapists, etc, and deal with some in the public (YOU) who hate how the police enforce laws they think are not criminal, then hope you go home every night….SHUT THE F UP.   considering the amount of “swatting” that has been going on nationwide, it is not an unfeasible concept metallicat is putting forth. All it takes is an anonymous tip to the police and the swat team will kick your door in and possibly shoot you, your dog, or you family members if you don’t react in a certain way.   Whether this was a hone owner or family member or a home invasion, there were killings before the police arrived. I applaud the officers willingness to go in, and would argue this s be fewer court cases we have to endure where the killer blames the gun, the victims, tv, video games, drugs, society, the cops, etc.

I am interested in if the Coroner will allow any information on how long it took those shot to die.
After Sandy Hook, I am questioning if a response shorter than “when the government authorized agents of force” feel safe going in might have allowed some of those shot a chance to survive.
Here, over 5 hours
Sandy Hook, 20-25 minutes before entry, some rooms hours before inhabitants were “rescued”
when you or your children are bleeding to death in minutes
Police are how many hours away?

Where do people learn ethics, morals and self responsibility from an early age?

In US history, when there were more guns per population, schools were one of the places where young people were taught ethics, morals and self responsibility….. no more. Can you tell?

Children are taught to insure their survival. Would learning ethics, morals and self responsibility help all children’s character grow in a positive way?

There are murders using guns everyday in America,10 years ago,you would rarely hear of 1.Now every shooting that occurs, the press jumps on it,mostly to sell their add space, the rest to fit their agenda.Which is it here Glenn?   Everybody is tiptoeing around the obvious. Yeah every once in a while a white freak shoots up a joint and kills a dozen or so. But, the real problem is the blacks and the govt. There must be something in their DNA that makes them violent and stupid. They commit 50% of the murders in this country and everybody is scared as rabbits to say so. They cannot get a job unless the govt threatens employers to hire them or else. They walk around looking to be insulted. Most of them could not get a job if it were not for the govt hiring them itself. There is going to be a civil war in this country and the uniforms will be the color of ones skin. When you watch TV and a commercial comes on, you would think that blacks are 75% of the population based on the number of them appearing in the commercials.   I have noticed the same thing as well, M-D.
  
  Negroes (or is it Blacks, or African-Americans, hard to keep up) comprise about 13% of population, yet they are in probably 70% of TV commercials, with more and more black men/white women interaction. Notice also, that the white man is usually portrayed as a dumb and/or inept person, while blacks (or is it *****, or African-Americans, hard to keep up) are always shown to be well-groomed with good command of the English language (no ebonics on TV!). I have noticed that these particular type of commercials have increased dramatically in the last 4 years, and I don’t think by accident.
  
  You might ask yourself, who or what is pushing miscegenation, and why are we bombarded with these false images 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year in the mainstream media. Certainly it’s not to appeal to a broad market, since most people identify with their own, and prefer to be among same.

  Father in Heaven, I pray that the Holy Spirit will reveal himself to the one that calls himself YOURSENSEI. He is angry at God, and feels that he doesn’t need him in his life. But I say that if he opened Paul’s eyes, he can do the same with this lost soul. please pray for the love of God to flow into his heart and soul, that he comes to know Jesus as his Savior. Amen.
