Lance Armstrong Reportedly Considering Fessing Up to Drug Use

Report: Lance Armstrong Considering Fessing Up to Drug Use

This picture taken on July 22, 2004 shows Lance Armstrong celebrating as he crosses the finish line and wins the 17th stage of the 91st Tour de France cycling race between Bourg-d’Oisans and Le Grand Bornand. Armstrong, who was stripped of his seven Tour de France titles for doping, is reportedly weighing whether to admit he used performance-enhancing drugs. (Getty Images)

Cycling star Lance Armstrong is considering admitting to doping charges that stripped him of his seven Tour de France titles and earned him a lifetime ban, the New York Times reported Friday.

Armstrong “has told associates and antidoping officials that he is considering publicly admitting that he used banned performance-enhancing drugs and blood transfusions during his cycling career,” anonymous sources with “direct knowledge of the situation” told the Times. Armstrong would do it “because he wants to persuade antidoping officials to restore his eligibility so he can resume his athletic career.”

Armstrong has for years denied ever doping, but saw his athletic career collapse in October after a huge report from the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency detailed allegations of his drug use. Armstrong announced he was finished denying antidoping officials’ charges, calling their investigation an “unconstitutional witch hunt.” He lost most of his sponsors and stepped down from Livestrong, the charity he founded after surviving testicular cancer.

Armstrong attorney Tim Herman told the Associated Press he had no knowledge of whether the cyclist was considering a public confession, saying only: “When, and if, Lance has something to say, there won’t be any secret about it.”

I think he should stand his ground. Hell, OJ killed 2 people and got off, but this guy has, without any evidence at all, been demonized around the world. I hope he dies with his integrity intact.

This sounds more like he is going to admit to something he didn’t do so that he can have his life back from the clowns who ruined him with no evidence. That blows goats.

@bintalshamsa….Bingo…I knew a pro cyclist and he admitted that at Armstrong’s level they all doped…They would have chemists that were always one step ahead of the tests capabilities…The problem is that specimens that are saved can eventually be proven to be doped…It just caught up to him finally…

So nut is on the bash lance band wagon, eh?
His ‘case’ was not adjudicated legally, but instead by a non elected government subsidized hit squad, that compiled here say data only to besmirch Armstrong.

Anyone who believes Lance is talking to anyone about admissions is in line to buy the Brooklyn bridge.

His titles were stripped without fair much less legal recourse. There is no proof, just testimony by competitors. To which I would say that apparently EVERYONE was doping over this time. Punishing the winner without proof is decidedly unAmerican, but such trivialities don’t matter to the government or the New York Times.

Anyone who thinks everybody that is competing at that level isn’t utilizing whatever performance-enhancing substances is kidding themselves. If you could take a pill that enhanced brain function, and it allowed you to better support yourself and your family by increasing your performance at work would you take it? If you were a software developer would you perhaps purchase a faster more powerful computer that would give you an edge over your competition? These people are athletes and they are paid to perform, and are rewarded for performing well.
If someone is upset about “performance enhancing drugs” perhaps take these adults that are playing games for massive amounts of money down off of their pedestals, turn off the tv and look in the mirror.

This country needs people that PRODUCE not entertain.

Professional athletes are nothing more than a platform for companies to advertise their wares, if a team is top ranked more people watch, if more people watch ad spots are more expensive etc.
BPO or not he trained like an animal, gave it his all and came out on top against others that were ( and are) doing the same. I respect the work and good for him personally, but if you’re one of these people that feels slighted because of the accusations of the actions of another’s life, it sounds like you need to make some more things happen in your own life.

The idea that everyone suffers from the lack of ethics that Armstrong displayed is unproved. Armstrong was a favorite so he attracted better sponsors which made it possible for him to afford the very best doping procedures and drugs. My daughter is a student athlete. I think it does matter if Armstrong comes clean, because it would allow those who he besmirched to reestablish their credibility. It would show student athletes that “winning at all costs” can ruin your entire career and your body.

Just another one of those Trials By Media that the Chicago radicals have introduced as part of their I Hate Traditional America campaign. Remember Zimmerman ? The makers of the so-called Muhammed video ? Petraeus ? Allen ? The Secret Service ? So many trials . Armstrong would do it “because he wants to persuade antidoping officials to restore his eligibility so he can resume his athletic career.”

He wants to be REWARDED for doing something wrong, getting caught, and THEN owning up to it. EF U, Lance. I hope you fall and have your private parts trapped in the spokes and chain of a competitors’ bike, and then taken to The Martin Luther King, Jr. Multi-Service Ambulatory Care Center (MLK-MACC), formerly known as Martin Luther King Jr./Drew Medical Center (King/Drew), in Los Angeles, where folks have died on the mergency room floor in need of care, while hospital staff ignored and even walked OVER them.

I’m just fed up, Stumpy. Guys like this are a sham to our youth; I can’t imagine how many Scout leaders may have used Lance as an inspiration to get the kids involved in something clean, and healthy – a rarity nowadays, and the guy turns out to be a stink-bomb.

The other side of the coin is all the Lance-wannabees plaguing the roads of California…biking is healthy, but this being California, we’re infested with rogue road-hoggers who feel they’ve just as much right to just as much road-space as motorized vehicles; traveling in packs and pretending they’re in the Tour de France, dressing and driving like it. We’ve had a few squashed like bugs, and I’ve felt no pity.

Lance turned out to be a miserable example, and he wants to do what now?!? HA.

Wood, don’t fall prey to sheepledom… The agency had ZERO proof or it would have been published with much fanfare.

Suggesting he wants to have eligibility again proves the article is a farce… He is too old now, to be competitive

Sadly this backstory is of a subversive anti athlete if not anti American group taking government money and mercilessly attacking a single American citizen.

The fact that no one on the Left is speaking up about the utter lack of fairness is tacit proof what Libs really oppose is not unfairness or inequality but success and excellence.

RAYDOCX, they did publish it. You just didn’t pay attention. Armstrong agreed to these rules and regulations. If they were anti-American or unfair, he was free to remain right here in America and leave the Tour de France to the French and those who were willing to agree to the rules. The Tour de France is a private affair. They are free to make any rules they want. So there ya’ go.

Really? Testosterone is a steroid found in all humans. But if a person were to abuse it it would cause side effects that are unwanted. Or, albuteral is also a steroid. It’s great when used for its intended purpose, but if abused it causes unwanted side effects. Steroids, when used as perscribed by a physician, can help people with medical issues. Natural steroids found in the human body are different than those freely taken by prescription. It’s the dose and intended use that is the issue. If a person uses steroids to help themselves win at a sport or get “buff” or whatever. It is an abuse of a drug. It doesn’t matter if that steroid is found naturally in the human body or not.

Steroids are not drugs. People that use them are in better shape than YOU are. Any man over thirty that isn’t using them is an idiot. The rapid decline in them is WHY men age. It’s all about protein turnover and nitrogen balance. There has NEVER been even ONE death caused by steroids. Not even ONE! There’s a reason it takes longer to heal and recover with age. There’s a reason you have less energy with age and I just stated the reason. The ideal range is 800-1200 IUs per ML. But the AMA considers levels at 300-400 normal. You’ll need more than Viagra if your levels are down there. The only down side to testosterone is thinning **** and acne both of which are caused by DHT and that is easily controlled.
