Palestinians Officially Change Their Name to ‘State of Palestine’ Following U.N. Recognition

RAMALLAH, West Bank (AP) — The Palestinian president has ordered his government to officially change the name of the Palestinian Authority to “State of Palestine.”

The move follows the November decision by the United Nations to upgrade the Palestinians’ status to that of a “non-member observer state.”

President Mahmoud Abbas said Sunday that all official Palestinian stamps, stationery and documents will now bear the new name.

A statement from his office said the move was aimed at enhancing Palestinian “sovereignty on the ground” and was a step on the way to “real independence.” Israel still controls most of the West Bank.

Israel objected to the Palestinian statehood bid at the U.N., calling it a unilateral step aimed at bypassing direct peace negotiations. Abbas denied that.

Israel had no comment Sunday.

  It is staggering that Israel has been willing to give these clowns financial support, while they arm themselves to the teeth, kill their neighbors will homemade rockets, and torture anyone they think is “spying for the zionists”.

Remember when Yasser Arafat, the “Father of Modern Terrorism,” fought with a group of radical religious militants to occupy Jordan? On the first 9-11 (1970) he waged the “Black September” war by hijacking four passenger jets and blowing up three. He was one of the more militants with the Muslim Brotherhood, as was Osama Bin Laden. (Ever wonder if Bin Laden’s hijacked planes on 9-11 (2001) were in memory of the Black September movement of what were to become “a worldwide network of professional assassins.”
When Arafat lost the war to occupy Jordan he went to “seek revenge against Israel” and occupy it. That’s how the occupation started. Arafat’s famous 1974 Charter for Palestine Statehood included Article 32, which called for the abolishment of Zionism. Now the meaning is said more clearly, to wipe Israel off the map, to drive the Jews into the sea.
In all these years, Israel has exchanged land for peace to Arafat and now other Muslim Brotherhood sponsored leaders, asking that they remove that one clause from their charter. Arafat promised many times as he accepted Israel’s land, yet he never removed it from the charter for Palestinian Statehood. And all the terrorist leaders, such as Hamas, never have. It was a Muslim Brotherhood goal, which is why they assassinated Egyptian leader, Anwar Sadat, in 1981, for signing the first peace treaty with Israel (1979), which they considered treasonous to their cause.
Remember, Article 32 is still in Palestine’s charter

  In regards to the Hotel bombing, Irgun’s target wasn’t the people inside. In fact, they warned both the hotel and the British before the bomb went off only neither actually did anything about it. As for the Sergeants Affair, like with the Hotel bombing, the primary target was of a military nature.
  
  In contrast, Arafat’s PLO almost never chose military targets. They instead targeted, buses, schools, clubs, restaurants, hospitals, and outdoor markets. To say that they behaved like Irgun did is entirely dishonest. Irgun’s goal was to drive out a military presence. The PLO, and later Hamas, only wanted to kill as many civilians as possible.

The Palestinians have blown it now. Had their leaders any sense, they would have given up their right to separate statehood and declared themselves to be citizens of Israel. Then they could have peacefully sat back until their higher birthrate made them the voting majority in the single nation they would have lived in. Instead, they have chosen their lot poorly. Their state will have the borders Israel agrees to give it, the walls will remain up, and peace will remain precarious.

My Palestinian brothers are closer to our goal of a middle east free of Israeli’s and Jews. It’s so exciting and I just had to share my excitement with you my loyal subjects. I know you’re all concerned with whats happening in Israel but you needn’t worry about it,my friends in the MB have assured me that the Israeli’s will be fine and just because the Palestinians are building ovens and crematoria…….it’s hardly worth mentioning.

  And from an Historical look at it the land deal has flipped since in 1948. When the UN parceled out the land that was the former Palestinian Protectorate of England(UK) the “Palestinians” had 75% of the land. And when they started a war with Britain and forced them out of the region that is when Israel declared itself a “State/Nation”. Israel was a much smaller nation.
  
  At the time they had ownership of the west bank but the King of Jordan joined in the fight against Israel and won the west bank in the war and was not forced to give it back to Israel by the UN. It was not until 1967 War that it was won back and now they want Israel to give it back.

Barrys Arab spring has set the middle east on fire Egypt is under MB control,Syria is up in flames and now his Palestinian friends get a name change. Just another step for the Palestinians and their ally in the oval office to eliminate Israel. Israel has a squatter problem and for the life of me I don’t understand why they allow the Palestinians to illegally occupy the their land. Israel should’ve evicted them years ago.

i recognize the State of Palestine at its pre 67 borders with Jerusalem as its capital. I recognize their right to exist as a free and independent nation. I recognize the crimes against humanity that Israel commits on a daily basis by occupying land illegally, by building illegal settlements, by blockading an entire people of food and medicine and dignity due to their ethnicity/religion, by using illegal weapons such as white phosferous munitions on civilian populations, by murdering thousands of innocent women and children. The government of the state of israel are no better than the nazi’s that did the same aweful things to them such a short time ago. they should know better.

  How could Palestine have existed before 1967 with a capitol if they didn’t even have a governing body until the Oslo accords in the 1990s? Prior to 1967 the territories were ruled by Egypt from Cairo and Jordan from Amman. Moreover, the PA or whatever they wish to call themselves has never had their seat of government in Jerusalem. The only places they have ever governed from are Gaza City and Ramallah. Also, I have a hard time understanding how Israel is guilty of denying the people in Gaza food when Israel itself is shipping truckloads of humanitarian aid into Gaza on a daily basis.

  8. What was the name of its currency?
  9. Choose any date in history and tell what was the approximate exchange rate of the Palestinian monetary unit against the US dollar, German mark, GB pound, Japanese yen or Chinese yuan on that date.
  10. Since there is no such country of Palestine today, what caused its demise and when did it occur?
