Rand Paul: I’m Thinking About a Presidential Run

AP
Sen. Rand Paul, heir apparent to his father’s political movement, said he’s thinking about making a run for president.
“We are going to have to have somebody a little bit different than we’ve had in the past,” the Kentucky Republican said in a radio interview Friday with Andrea Tantaros and Jason Mattera. “Someone who can appeal to people in New England and on the West Coast. Someone who has a little more of a libertarian-Republican approach, I think, would have a better chance with independents and moderates.”
“And so, you know, we’ll think about it,” he said.
Paul won a seat last week on the influential Senate Foreign Relations Committee, meaning he would be well-placed in the national conversation should he choose to mount a 2016 bid. Following President Barack Obama’s November re-election, Paul said he wants to eliminate mandatory minimum sentences for marijuana possession and work out an immigration plan with an “eventual path” to citizenship for illegal immigrants — both signs he’s seeking broader support than just the Tea Party movement that helped put him in the Senate.
He’s also set to travel to Israel, a strong indication that he’s seeking to separate himself from his father, who faced strong criticism about his attitude toward the Jewish state, particularly as it related to foreign aid.
Paul said he believes the just-retired Texas Rep. Ron Paul was “unfairly characterized” about Israel, pointing out that his father’s intellectual heroes are all Jewish.
“There’s never been any sort of Jewish problem other than that he did talk about foreign aid and so do I, but I think sometimes that gets misinterpreted,” Rand Paul said. “People think oh, you’re just talking about Israel, and in fact I spend most of my time emphasizing that most of this foreign aid I’m talking about is going to enemies of Israel.”
In an interview with TheBlaze during the Republican National Convention, Rand Paul — who endorsed GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney — was modest on whether he would automatically inherit his father’s vast well loyal supporters.
“I don’t think anyone can really get credit and say I’m the new leader of the Ron Paul movement,” Paul said.

Posted on January 6, 2013 at 5:35pm@Free: So basically, Armey got pissed because FreedomWorks bought advertising on the Glenn Beck show. If the return wasn’t worth it, then so be it. But just because they bought advertising, doesn’t really mean anything. I’m sure Goldline (and many others) buy advertising as well. In fact, Goldline’s profit margin got exposed by a congress person that wanted to see them investigated for selling gold at a certain cost. For what? Because they were doing well? Because Beck was advertising for them?
Seriously. The difference between the left and the right is that the right admits to taking money from large organizations. The left pretends that they’re only taking small donations from “the everyday man” but we see the exact opposite happening all the time.

Romney was just like Obama and jumped and ran to the nearest restraunt advertizing grass fed beef. Us folks in the country let the cattle eat grass 75% of the year. If not for the drought and high cost of wheat cattle would be eating winter wheat. Now the farmers that have cattle are feeding hay and 20% cubes. Those range fed chickes follow the cows & horses around and scratch thru the poop and eat the undigested grains. Chickens that live in those long buildens are fed just grain & water and are culled each month for sick birds and that is the only eggs I will eat. Now lets look in the mirror and see is using ” ALINSKYITE” tactics. You dissect bite of statements declare them “LIES” and the commenter a “LIER” you never answer any question straight or at all. You marginalize commenter’s and comments as ” ALINSKYITE SMEARRING”. Every person nomatter who they are all progressives besides Ron Paul.
You never post anything positive about thing or one. You clam to advocate for Ron Paul the constitutional party, libertarian party etc but you attack any and everybody who’s view are aligned with them. By you standards non of the founding fathers were conservative or even constitutionalist.
How can conservative libertarians build/find a “LIKE minded” coalition. The Brother party can be liuke minded you must be of only one mind and thought, am I wrong? Who else besides Ron?
You are not honest about anything. You are ether a paid troll of infowars or a progressive in sheeps clothing. I seriously doubt you are Ron supporter, constitutionalist or all together upstairs.

Posted on January 6, 2013 at 11:00pm@Brother Good, at least you don’t think Napolinato is some secret progressive. First you clam every one you disagree with a lier. You know if you’re honest that a lie by definition is not someone stating something that is not true but is someone knowingly stating something that is not true with the purpose to deceive. Your defense that you only attack liers but you just clam that everyone is a lier say you’re justified. That is not intellectually honest.
So you just as I do that you call everybody and everything a “LIE” when you attempt to “DISSECT”. You and both know why you do that. To marginalize, right? You know the tactics.
Many times you state objective opinions as facts or “TRUTHS”. You do know that absolutely every time you post on this site the way you do is using “ALINSKYITE TACTICS”. I know you are not dumb and know this. Even the fact that you state that you are “DISSECTING” others words is attempt at marginalizing. Again that is why most do not like you. I agree with you most of the time and still hardly stand your comments.
But thank you for actually answering my questions I truly appreciate it. You still never denied being a infowars troll. The accusation is a honest observation over time of your comments infowars like some type of advertisement that usually nothing to do with your comment. And I honestly wanting to know and why I ask and asked you instead of just going around and calling you a troll etc just to smear.

And they’ll all say that “Chris Christie isn’t the most conservative candidate in the race but he has the best chance of beating the democrat so lets all rally behind him”
They’ll also say that if you don’t vote for Chris Christie then your voting for the democrat.
And after Christie loses, they’ll blame it on all of the people who voted 3rd party instead of looking in the mirror and realizing that they nominated a progressive loser who ran a horrible campaign.

There is real hypocrisy among those who hate Ron Paul but still support Rand Paul….Before we get all hyped up about the next candidate, it is important for these people to see the truth. 100,000 people knowing the truth is better than 1,000,000 people who go with the flow. The dumb “conservatives” don’t need help dividing themselves. They do that very well on their own. I honestly hope that the GOP divides itself to the point in which the tea party conservatives and the right-leaning libertarian conservatives break away from the GOP because the party is infested with progressives and the establishment will not allow for a true tea party and/or fiscal conservative to take the reins.

It’s not that these people have had a “come to Jesus moment”, they are just OK with Rand Paul because Glenn Beck is. I bet they have no idea that Rand Paul advocates for a smaller military budget. Again, its not that they have had a chance of heart – and that is a problem. I used to think like them but i wasnt of any use until i realized that things like Patriot Act, Iraq War, and Federal Reserve are unamerican
Curious to know what you think the hypocrisy of Brother Winston Smith is…..His methods are simple, straightforward, and hard-hitting – but that does not make him wrong.

Posted on January 6, 2013 at 10:12pm@soybomb315_II First read Brother’s comment above about Rand Paul and his opinion about him.
It is the very same type hypocrisy that Mutiny is trying to shed light to. Mutiny point is that Rand is almost virtually the same a Ron and the talking head were against Ron but are for Rand. Brother Winston ranting about Rand being a progressive,marxist,non-conservative,non-libertarian who secretly trying to trick constitutionalist to for his progressive republican causes and that he would never vote for Rand Paul because he is progressive marxist in disguise.
So again if Ron and Rand are almost virtually the same how can Mr. Smith take this stance?
But more directly to your question I usually agree with our good Brother but just disagree with his tactics. His tactics are not always wrong but I usually find them more destructive than productive.
And on your point about them not actually having their “come to Jesus moment” and Glenn Beck.
I say “so”? I don’t care how they get they as a lemming or a intellectual power house as long as they on the right side and not infringing other people and their rights it is not reason to rail against them. Heres a thought maybe they might finally have their “come to Jesus moment” over time as lemming for our causes.
If you keep attacking people get defensive and harden in their ways and thought.

I agree with you – i dont like to ‘attack’ people….Those are the ways of the left and the anti-pauls on this site. However, you do have to draw distinctions and remind them of the type of candidates and positions the republican party has taken in the last 10 years. Posted on January 6, 2013 at 1:42pmRand Paul is a very educated man and well respected. I believe he would be an asset to the American People and I believe he talks openly and honestly.

Posted on January 6, 2013 at 2:08pmWhen ever you folks praise some one, like say West, or Rand, you completely overlook their total lack of a NATIONAL following.

Posted on January 6, 2013 at 2:20pmListen HON, your fuehrer god had no national following either. You cretins are so stupid, but again, I repeat myself.

Posted on January 6, 2013 at 2:22pmMS. Charles: Like Obama had a huge “national following ” before the Left wing media droned him on America ? ! The key is the media propagandizing which is why we have Obama II .

Posted on January 6, 2013 at 2:58pmCharles116 – I am not praising someone. I am stating an obvious fact. Dr Paul’s age would imply a GPA of 3.8 or above when accepted to medical school ( less standards are acceptable now), 4 years of medical school utilizing critical thinking skills, and 4 to 5 years of surgical residency. It is well known that students applying to medical school in the 1970′s and 1980′s held higher and tougher credentials upon applying to medical school than their lawyer counterparts. I am therefore, appraising not praising. Appraisal is actually entirely neutral.

Posted on January 6, 2013 at 3:01pmExcept no one will ever know he’s running. The MSM will ignore him, just cut the camera off before his podium, just like they did his father, say we have three canditates tonight when there were actually four, give him 90 seconds of talk time in an two-hour debate….. that sort of sleeziness. That drove me absolutely batshitt!!!
