Ted Cruz Comes Out Guns Blazing on ‘Unconstitutional’ Gun Control Proposals
Newly minted Texas Senator Ted Cruz has barely been in office for a weekend, and has already displayed his characteristic capacity for rhetorical sharpness combined with constitutionalism. Appearing on Fox News Sunday today, Senator Cruz was asked about gun control proposals being offered in the wake of the Newtown, Connecticut shooting, and whether he could support any of them. Cruz’s reply, while empathetic to the victims, was quite firm.
“The reason we’re discussing this is because of the tragedy in Newtown. And every parent – my wife and I, we’ve got two little girls, age 4 and age 2 – every parent was horrified by what happened there. To see twenty children, six adults senselessly murdered, it takes your breath away,” Cruz began, before pivoting to the political question.
“But within minutes,” Cruz continued, “we saw politicians run out and try to exploit this tragedy, try to push their political agenda of gun control. I do not support their gun control agenda for two reasons: Number one, it’s unconstitutional.”
When the host pressed Cruz on whether there was anything he could support, Cruz said he supported using measures to update the Federal database of who was ineligible to own a firearm. However, he took special aim at a proposal by Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) to create a national registry of who owns guns, saying the Federal government had no business keeping a list of who chooses to exercise their Second Amendment rights.
Watch below:
Cruz’s constitutional critique is a fairly common talking point among Republican legislators. However, coming from Cruz, it may carry additional weight, as the former Texas Solicitor General has won multiple cases arguing before the Supreme Court itself, and clerked for former Chief Justice William Rehnquist.
In CONTROL, Glenn Beck presents a passionate, fact-based case for guns that reveals why gun control isn’t really about controlling guns at all; it’s about controlling us. Posted on January 7, 2013 at 12:19amFolks, the 2nd amendment is NOT about hunting, it is NOT about sport shooting. It is solely about guaranteeing an Amercian, law-abiding citizen the God given right to self defense through the ownership of firearms for the purposes of securing their home, property, and country. Period. And that firearm should match the firepower of those that may be used against them, either by other citizens, or a government that turns on its own people and tries to deprive them of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. These rights are enshrined in our Declaration of Indepence and guaranteed in the Bill of Rights of the Constitution. Period.

Posted on January 6, 2013 at 11:39pmWe must pray for Ted Cruz and others who are willing to stand against the progressive tide (both Democratic and Republican). It’s not easy to maintain a moral, common sense approach to Constitutional government when cronyism dictates otherwise. Watch the liberals make Cruz out to be a nut case or a skirt chaser. They can’t afford for him to actually capture the attention of moderate minorities.

Posted on January 6, 2013 at 11:06pmThere is only one reason to create a gun registry and that’s if you’re planning gun confiscation. Anyone who aides by an unconstitutional gun registry law will have their guns seized by a later unconstitutional gun confiscation law.
However, Feinstein, Obama, Clinton, Reid, Pelosi, etc. will keep their guns and their private armies.

Posted on January 6, 2013 at 10:26pmYay, Senator Cruz! Those with clean minds and clean hearts would properly use guns. Those with dark minds and dark hearts know how to inflict physical harm and damage with ANYTHING, not just guns. I’m thankful that our hearts and minds cannot be regulated.

Posted on January 6, 2013 at 7:28pmOnce again a republican who sounds good. Let’s see how his votes go and if those votes match what he says. I can think of many “tea party” favorites who were hijacked by the republican establishment and now vote with the “party” on unconstitutional bills and excess spending. Paul Ryan and Marco Rubio are two that I can think of.

Posted on January 6, 2013 at 7:05pmIt is truly scary times we live in but remember we were chosen to be born at this time. It is our job to make sure America stays free. To do this we must stand and be counted. Retired Vets are counted on a watch list because the Feds fear that we remember our oath and will step up and impede if not out right stop this destruction of our Constitution and Country. They are right but next to the vets are the first responders, the active military and the citizens, that is one hell of an Army to contend with. I’m afraid the Culture War that has been raging id going to boil over into a full fledged Civil War of the Freedom Loving Citizens against the Tyrannical runaway Government. They are usually bad shots and that’s why the need 1.6 billion rounds. We as armed citizens tend to be better armed and understand our gun of choice allot better than they do. They understand that everything they have been doing to us is wrong, immoral and violates the Constitution, yet they do not care. They do these things to us only to cement their power and control over us. They understand we are pissed and fed up that’s why they have been boiling us slowly like frogs in a pot for years now. It is near the time for us to hold them accountable for their destructive ways and they are going to regulate registrations, then confiscations to keep us from defending ourselves, that is tyranny. We the people of the United states ARE THE RESISTANCE. they cant get us all, we need only 10% to win.

Posted on January 6, 2013 at 6:32pm(History repeating itself?)
“… post-World War I chaos, which led to the enactment in 1928 by the liberal Weimar republic of Germany’s first comprehensive gun control law. Next, the Nazi seizure of power in 1933 was consolidated by massive searches and seizures of firearms from political opponents, who were invariably described as “communists.â€
After five years of repression and eradication of dissidents, Hitler signed a new gun control law in 1938, which benefitted Nazi party members and entities, but denied firearm ownership to enemies of the state. Later that year, in Kristallnacht (the Night of the Broken Glass), in one fell swoop, the Nazi regime disarmed Germany’s Jews. Without any ability to defend themselves, the Jewish population could easily be sent to concentration camps for the Final Solution. After World War II began, Nazi authorities continued to register and mistrust civilian firearm owners, and German resistence to the Nazi regime was unsuccessful.â€

Posted on January 7, 2013 at 2:20amYa, you skipped the part about how the League of Nations disarmed Germany from 1919-1928! Much in the same way the UN is going to disarming us! And what was the penalty for being caught with a gun in Germany in those days (1919-1928)?
If you look at pre-nazi gun laws of 1928, it’s the same thing thats going on in the US! Thats why they keep talking about guns for hunting-lol
It’s sad you know. In early 2000, some sick freak shot up a school in Germany and it led to stricter gun laws; it’s the Internationale’s playbook!
Also, it sickens me to hear everyone exploit Jewish suffering here in America during the rise and fall of the Third Reich! I feel the same way about references to Hitler. It’s understandable for a defeated Germany but come on, America too!
We have the First Amendmen†, so if you wan’t to exploit Jewish suffering you can. But you’re doing the same thing that these politicians are doing to the Connecticut massacre!
You do understand we are being occupied by a hostile elite; right?
“The most foolish mistake we could possibly make would be to permit the conquered American people to have arms. History teaches that all conquerors who have allowed their subject to carry arms have prepared their own downfall by doing so.”
I apologize to all Americans for not quoting our Founding Fa†hers in political debates! I spent years studying Nazis and communists that I didn’t study our own patriots in depth, I’m ashamed!
Poor Tarzan!

Posted on January 6, 2013 at 6:29pmIt is coming to the point that the Loony Left in this Nation and the Man who is holding the office of POTUS ILLEGALLY are risking the National Security . If they continue down the road of gun confiscation. They are inciting an all out Civil War with otherwise Law ABIDING Citizens. To what end is their intentions? Do they think the American people will disarm without a fight? Mr. Cruz has a big fight on his hands. He is in the Company of a hive of Criminals both Republican and so called Democrats, who by all intents and purposes wish to enslave the American People. At some point if there are any top Brass in the Military left who still hold allegiance to this Nation. They must step in and remove or arrest the guilty Parties. If not, then America will descend into the darkest days of the Republic . We are that close Folks.

Posted on January 6, 2013 at 6:28pmFeinstein’s push to create a national registry of gun owners would pave the way for obama’s real agenda, which is eliminating the 2nd Amendment, and confiscating all firearms. As with all dictators, obama understands that he cannot achieve complete control until he disarms Americans. Feinstein’s proposed legislation is a shockingly broad-spectrum gun grab – WE must not allow democrats to ram this through.

They just need to tell Boehner to shut the hell up, stay in the bar, and he can continue to be a silent figure head, I’m waiting for the likes of Graham and McCain to reprimand him for being so inflexible,

Posted on January 6, 2013 at 6:11pmEvery Sunday on the weekly news shows all the news Bolsheviks are pushing as hard as they can and have totally one track minds about gun control. Glenn is the only one making sense of it on his program where he is looking at WHY instead of WHAT. That Wallace creep; gun control or gun control; no other choice like some kind of robot. That geek (whats his name – who cares?) on faux news Sunday today was like a robot and kept repeating; something? cant do anything? just something? while his guest attempted to answer a question. The “something” or “anything” he referenced is what these useless robots from hell are singularly bent on. Gun control. It’s like their brain firmware has been over-written with code that makes gun control all they can think about.

Posted on January 6, 2013 at 5:58pmTed Cruz has 2 girls ages 2 & 4. He is probably very concerned about the direction this country is headed. Islamists do not favor women. Take guns away from citizens in there home and there will be spikes in home invasions. There are far too many deviants in this morally corrupt society to leave citizen at the mercy of the growing criminal armed elements. There is NO WAY that this is the PROBLEM. The problem is moral decay because of bad laws in the first place
The full 12 minute interview with Ted Cruz is available at foxnews videos. I wish him well in DC h3ll.

Posted on January 6, 2013 at 5:23pmThe senator is trying to kill an elephant with a BB gun with updating a database. How about getting to the crux of the matter and abolishing every gun law passed since the second amendment? The fact is government doesn’t have the authority to infringe on our right to own a firearm yet congress has been doing just that ever since the second amendment was written. This gun control issue can be compared to health care because progressives have wanted government health care since TR well now they have it,it’s taken them a century but they have it. With all these gun control laws it’s the same thing, they’ll keep chipping away until we lose our right to own a firearm and they don’t care if it takes a century they’ll keep chipping away until they’ve done it.
