Crowd Cheers After Chicago Teachers Union Pres. Jokes About Killing the Rich

Chicago Teachers Union President Karen Lewis Jokes About Killing the Rich, Crowd Claps

Karen Lewis, the president of the Chicago Teachers Union, spoke at an event called “Salute to Labor’s Historic Heroes from the History Makers of Today” last month, where the crowd applauded when she spoke of killing rich people.

Though the event happened roughly one month ago, YouTube video of the speech is just beginning to circulate.

EAG News described her speech:

“… Do not think for a minute that the wealthy are ever going to allow you to legislate their riches away from them. Please understand that. However, we are in a moment where the wealth disparity in this country is very reminiscent of the robber baron ages. The labor leaders of that time, though, were ready to kill. They were. They were just – off with their heads. They were seriously talking about that.”

Some in the audience laughed and clapped at her remark.

“I don’t think we’re at that point,” Lewis laughingly replied, without specifying when “that point” might arrive. “And that’s scary to most people. But the key is they think nothing of killing us. They think nothing of putting our people in harm’s way. They think nothing of lethal working conditions.”

She then used schools without air conditioning as an example of “lethal working conditions.”

It should be noted that Lewis was paraphrasing a presumably “historic hero” of the labor movement, but regardless of whether the sentiment originally belonged to Lewis or not– people in the crowd still clapped.

Michelle Malkin wrote an article about the video, describing Lewis as “Chicago thuggery personified” before referencing a previous article about the union president:

Derision is her specialty. Her tirades at teachers’ confabs are infamous. Don’t feel sorry for her when she moans about Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s bully tactics and trash mouth. Lewis has one of her own.

EAG News concluded with a statement on the significance of Lewis’ position:

With such a cynical, un-American attitude coming from their union president, does anyone really expect Chicago teachers to introduce students to the many virtues of the free market system, or the nobility of taking a risk to become an entrepreneur and therefore a “job creator”?

As domestic terrorist-turned-professor Bill Ayers acknowledged, leftists have the power in our schools and classrooms, and they’re taking full advantage.

  Here’s a question I ask almost everyone:
  When is enough enough? When will the proverbial feces hit the rotating oscellator? We hear tyraids like hers every week. We see Washington incroach — if not completely ignore–the Constitution daily. We hear all kinds of things that would have promted our forefathers to rise up and put a stop to these threats.
  I’m not calling for that unprising here an now. Yet, all we have / do is use social media to vent our frustration and anger. I just really wonder; where is that line in the sand?

  @ fish: I wonder the same thing every day. I’ve spoken with people close to me about what to do when it does. We’re fortunate in that we are numerous in the part of the country where I live. And just like you, I’m not calling for an uprising but we’ll be prepared when they do lose the rest of their sanity. I would like to see a massive rally to show support for the right to remain Americans and enjoy ALL of the liberties allowed and granted by God. Unfortunately, The encroachments on those rights have grown so numerous it would need a long list of grievances, none of which would be addressed. They would have to turn back decades of leftist agendas. We need a rallying point to let the fed’s know the jig is up, we’re fed up with being treated as peasants, called racist for not agreeing with them and having our lives threatened in their speeches.   FAR from wealthy. In fact they’re struggling after taxes & expenses.

  Danger, that’s a good idea–starting a web site to list the grevances. I’ve been told there is a site with similar goals, but from what I understand, that particular site is using it to place themselves in postitions of power. Having a site for the common man to sign on to is a good idea. That way, when the SHTF, we’ll all be on the same page –spelled out and in common. Just not sure how to get the word out that the list of grievances exist.

  @fish: I think getting the word out would snowball. It’s just a matter of putting a well thought out list together. If you think about all of the threats, hypocrisy, encroachments and oppression by taxation and regulation it would fill up.
  Each grievance would have to have references to prove your point. It’s doable. I have no desire for power. I do however have a deep burning desire for freedom.
  I believe I’ll put together a rough sketch to see what it looks like.

  If you wanna take this porker down, you’ll need a whaler and a bunch of high powered harpoons. To lure Karen ‘Whinny the Whale’ Lewis into open waters though there will need to be a cargo ship lacing the open sea with its endless cargo of twinkies. I see only one major problem. When her huge gas laden body is compromised she could go off like an atomic bomb creating a catastophic tsunami. Carpet bombing her probably wouldn’t do much damage and only get her dander up turning her into godzilla with nasty breath to match.   I live in the desert where the temperature is in the 105+ range for about 4+ months and my husband works outside, in the heat, under the burning, most sunniest place in the world in construction, or real work. “No air conditioning” in Chicago is a labor abuse, really?
  
  Now, about the killing, did she decribe how she wants it done? No way such an educated woman would want them shot. Being such a student of history…she probably wants the guillotine. First, the rich and then the Christians will be executed. I have always wondered for a society who are so squimish about even death penalty for child rapists and serial killers, how they are going to justify the leap. I guess based on the words out of this woman’s mouth which come from her heart…..the jump won’t be very difficult.
  
  Somebody needs to call her and reassure her that the days are coming where all wealth and present onetary systems will belong to “the global community”. There will be neither rich or poor; master or slave; balances will be at zero, and all goods and services will be dispenced equally among the citizens of the global community. You just need to have the “Global RFID 2016″.

  I think they spelled it correct. It is the Union Hall of Honor. Just look at all of the portraits of honorable union people on the walls surrounding the banner. The table is chock full of honorable memorabilia from the union.

I think it’s time to follow Ayn Rand’s advice. All the rich, successful, and productive people should stop accepting guilt for being who they are, withhold all the presently have to offer, and let the system collapse of it’s own weight. Do it now, and it will be easier to re-start the country than it will be if we let the b@st@rds confiscate and squander all the capital.

  The big cities will be the first to see conflict and it will be initiated by them, by speeches with this type of rhetoric.
  Stock up, get what supplies you can.
  Find like minded people with a concern for the way things are heading.
  Develop a plan for when the SHTF.
  If they EVER think they can disarm you they will. That will be the day you see them move to wipe out any alternative viewpoint.
  The main issue with their thinking is their side thinks it’s owed to them. What will they do when they have no risk takers or workers to take it from? God forbid you have to work and be responsible for your actions and life.
