Conservatives and gun rights advocates are coalescing for a pre-inaugural event that is being dubbed “Gun Appreciation Day” (GAD). Planned for Jan. 19, the pro-Second Amendment initiative will take place just two days before President Barack Obama officially commences his second term.
Much like the actions urged by organizers of “Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day” and “Hobby Lobby Appreciation Day,” two recent initiatives launched by right-of-center advocates, those behind the firearms effort are urging supporters to head to gun stores, shows and ranges to open their wallets in support of gun rights. The event is a essentially a protest against what is perceived as too-much government intervention in the wake of the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre.
In a press release announcing the effort, the coalition urged supporters to line up “around the block” in a joint effort to rail against planned federal restrictions on guns. Organizers expect to reach more than 50 million Americans in the next two weeks on the Internet, via mailings and through television and radio appearances.

“The Obama administration has shown that it is more than willing to trample the
Constitution to impose its dictates upon the American people,” Larry Ward, chairman of GAD and president of Political Media, Inc., said in the statement.
Ward also warned Americans against taking no action to curb what the GAD coalition sees as a crackdown on constitutional rights.
“If the American people don’t fight back now, Obama will do [to] the Second Amendment what he has already done to the First with Obamacare – gut it without a moment’s thought to our basic constitutional rights,” he added.

Some of the current organizations involved in the growing collective are as follows: Second Amendment Foundation, Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms, Special Operations Speaks, Revolution PAC, Citizens and Country, Social Security Institute, Committee to Draft Judge Andrew Napolitano, Conservative Action Alerts, Women Warriors PAC, Conservative Action Fund, and Political Media, Inc.
In an e-mail to TheBlaze, Ward said that the initiative will likely make an impact on politicians who wish to restrict individual rights. The chairman noted that he hopes GAD will, “Strike the fear of God in the gun-grabbing politicians on both sides of the aisle when millions of Americans celebrate their Second Amendment rights in force.”
Will you participate in GAD? Take the poll, below:

Do not go to Cheaper Than Dirt.com since the Conn. shooting they decided they beleived in the Liberals way of thinking and stopped gun auctions and only sell ammo & gun parts. Check out Gun auctions that are available and you can bid and have it delivered to your local gun dealer. You just ahve to go through a back ground check twice.

Generally, they ship an order in 24 hours and, after the Connecticut murders, they were 5-7 days behind and rapidly running out of stock. Been dealing with them for years and have been very well served. Now, Dick’s Spoting Goods stopped selling black guns for solely political reasons. I’ll never again deal with them.

They change their narrative days later after they were loosing thousands of fans off their page by the hour and thousands more were posting they would never do business with them again. They also suffered backlash on many gun forums and articles.
They caved and then tried to back pedal.

Guys.. CTD has CEASED selling ALL guns…if you do a search for ANY type of gun on their site, you can still find the catalog page with the specs and all but you get this message where the price and buy button used to be.. their shipping calculator even still says “we can ship to your state” but there is no way to buy the weapon…
“CheaperThanDirt.com does not sell firearms. ”
That is all…they are done…
I went to their McKinney TX store after Xmas and it was a mad house, 4-5 hour wait for gun purchase verification, prices were 2-3X what they were before Sandy Hook, and 50% of the inventory was off the walls and shelfs and no timeline to replace…so we went down to Cabela’s instead…still had the 4 hour gun verification wait time but EVERYTHING was still in stock, except AR’s and their Barrett 50 Cal was off the wall and put away. Either that or someone had paid them the $16,000 price for it…

The Sandyhook shooter didn’t have an AR, I hope the Blaze picks this up more people need to know. Watching the video of the deputy clearing the gun from the trunk you can see he’s pulling a bolt from the side of the gun. For an AR you’d be pulling from the rear. Pass this on, just one more way the media lies about guns for their fearmongering agenda.

Jan. 7, 2013 at 1:23pmFAL GUY, A couple of weeks ago I watched that video over repeatedly. What I saw looked to me very much like a SIG 556. And, very early on they were reporting a SIG rifle. That might have been a mistake anyway considering how much was made up by the media as the investigation progressed. But, the **** stock in this video looks very close to this, as well the distinctive shape of the fore stock clearly silhouetted in the video. Minus the picatinny rail on the bottom though.

Only because if you catch when the officer ejects the shell it looks rather large for a rifle round. I just wish the video was better quality and then we could tell for sure. But I do know one thing that gun was definitely NOT an AR.

Jan. 7, 2013 at 6:55pmFAL GUY, Should have mentioned. I originally thought that it was a shotgun after first watching the video. A real computer guru friend of mine watched it too enhancing it as he watched it frame by frame. Said that it was not a shotgun round, and that it had a metallic appearance for it’s entire length. But as I said, I am expressing only my opinion. Its all open for the real experts out there to see who are not or will not tell us the whole truth.

Jan. 8, 2013 at 12:04amThat was definitely NOT an AR. Can’t tell what it is from the video but can tell it’s NOT an AR. The way it was cycled would lead me to believe it was a semi automatic shotgun. Possibly a Benelli like the military uses. It looked like it had a tubular magazine which would also be normal for a shotgun. The shell that came out when the action was cycled was large enough to be visible, but picture quality was low.

I can say that in all of my years in LE I never had to respond to a child involved in any kind of a shooting. I did spend a lot of time as a traffic accident investigator though. Believe me when I say that you nor anybody else here wants to read a description of what I witnessed during the performance of my duties. Not only the children involved, but people of any age. Then, there were other types of crimes and accidents. Nothing worse in my view than attending the autopsy of a child.
Furthermore, not even you can wish away illegal arms from being shipped into this county any more than you can wish away illegal drugs or illegal aliens. And, I refer to all illegal aliens.

Encinomom, pleeeeeeese get an education on gun shows. A gun dealer (FFL) selling at a gun show must do a NICS check on the buyer at every sale. It is no different than them selling a gun at their brick and mortar store. Now as a private citizen, I can pay for booth space, bring in a few guns and sell them, and I am not required to do a background check just like I don’t if I sell a gun out of my private residence.

Jan. 7, 2013 at 2:13pmTo honor Constitution we must properly understand it and not spin it! There are rights to life, liberty, free speech … yet we have Constitutional death penalty, jail systems and you’ll experience one if you use speech to direct real harm to someone.
Constitutionality of any Federal gun regulation and gun ownership limiting legislation is highly suspect. Unfortunately, Supreme Court in the past have allowed it. Hopefully that will be overturned by some future, more honest Supreme Court.
Constitutionality of sovereign States imposing various gun regulations and related laws, as long as it is not an outright denial of the right of gun ownership or close to it (recent Supreme Court decision on Chicago unconstitutional gun laws is a good example of the latter) is without question. States have such right to regulate and it is governed by their own Constitutions. If they overreach it – as in the Chicago example, citizens can go to the Supreme Court and fight it.
Finally, if any of you encounter “reasonable” friends talking about how sport shooting and hunting are protected and how we should ban “assault weapons” because they are weapons of war for military, please ask: does 2nd amendment mention sport or hunting? No. It specifically mentions ability of citizens to form a militia – military fighting force. Hence to anyone with original interpretation of the Constitution any (Federal or State) ban on those is patently unconstitutional.

FAIL, try again when you get reloaded. I know you don’t have a firearm, you are too big of a pansy, I mean when YOU get reloaded.

Jan. 7, 2013 at 12:51pmI must be getting paranoid. My first thought was everyone that goes to this is going to be IDed by the left, and the media. It would also be a perfect opportunity for some deranged lefty to take out a bunch of gun nuts.

Jan. 7, 2013 at 12:50pmThe “Government” will NEVER get my guns – regardless of what “law” they pass.
My guns are first to protect me from an overreaching tyrannical Government (we are almost there)
Second my guns are for my personal safety. Cops will tell you its Not Their primary job to protect the citizenry. Cops do NOT prevent crimes – they investigate crimes.
Get the guns from the punk gang criminals, fix the mental health issues and then maybe we can talk – until then go to H-ll.

Jan. 7, 2013 at 2:45pmYou can ask most policemen why they need to carry a gun, and if truthful, they will answer not to primarily to protect the public, but to protect themselves, and that is fine, but I want the same right to be just as well protected. When Hoover went before Congress to get the right for the FBI to carry guns, it was for self protection, not public protection.

Jan. 7, 2013 at 12:49pmmethinks Americans are already doing this, based on the number of checks the FBI received in the month of December…
fence sitting near sheeple shook off the lethargy and wondered what would happen when gun purchases were so controlled as to become impossible, while the flow of illegal weapons continues to supply criminals…
not a problem for Bloomy and the rest with their gun toting security… not a problem for the granola children with nothing even desperate criminals would want… but for the people still working in America, the prospect of losing MORE after what the government steals from our paychecks is enough to wake even some sheeple up to reality.
but rest assured, even if the GOP holds firm on legislation, the Pretender in Chief will use EPA to strangle ammunitions… get those reloading supplies now, boys and girls…

Damn staight !! This Government has been buying Brass by the Train load. Ammo will one day be very hard to get, if not impossible for CITIZENS.

Jan. 7, 2013 at 2:49pmI predict the EPA will bar the use of lead bullets on Federal hunting areas saying lead is an “environmental hazard” They have talked about this before, and I think they will pass this in the coming year.

Jan. 7, 2013 at 1:03pmThis kind of thing needs to be coordinated so all 50 state capitols see the same attendance. Otherwise it will get zero coverage and have almost zero impact.
