One of the worst-kept secrets at TheBlaze is Glenn Beck’s appreciation for Walt Disney’s work. And by work, it’s not just a cartoon mouse or a global network of theme parks that has piqued Beck’s interest. He is a fan of Walt’s bold vision and brave support of imagination engineering or “imagineering.”
During a segment on Monday night’s TV program, Beck talked about his respect for Walt Disney and how the visionary managed to turn his dreams into reality.

Image: TheBlaze TV
Beck also shared some of the details about a very special purchase he made last summer: Walt Disney’s original prospectus for the original California theme park, Disneyland. This special six page, type-written document explained Disney’s vision for a place “Where you leave TODAY… and visit the World of YESTERDAY and TOMORROW.” The presentation also included a hand-colored aerial view of the proposed 45 acre park. Beck showed the original plan last night on television.

In this segment from Monday night Mr. Beck, like Mr. Disney, let us “visit the World of YESTERDAY and TOMORROW.”

Jan. 8, 2013 at 5:15pmWalt Disney was a bit dark and creepy. Look at most of his shows.
Either one parent (usually the Mother) or both parents were dead, as in Cinderella, Snow White, and Bambi.
Animals were always getting dead, as in Old Yeller and Bambi. Dumbo was taken from his Mother.
Many of Disney’s movies are very sad, and many involve witchcraft. I’m not a big fan of Disney.

Sad beginning to lose a parent(s), but they learn how to be self-sufficient much quicker than kids these days. (I’m a guilty helicopter, by the way).

It is not vision, money, or even dreams… It is what our founders fought for, the freedom to live free without oppression, for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. In my humble opinion, it appears that Glenn is broken down and grabbing at straws of ideas, when all one needs to do is look at God and history. Technology will never give man peace, it will not fulfill the soul, nor satisfy ones thirst. As long as there are those that seek and obtain power for their own will, we will always have a broken and miserable society.

Visions and dreams are what motivate us, what drive us, what gives us creative and artistic goals and ambitions and passions… and I’m sorry if you disagree, but in such a broken nation that has turned away from God, we need some visions and we need some dreams. But I do agree that above all we need God and we need an understanding of history.

Jan. 8, 2013 at 5:13pmIt sounds to me like Glenn is going for future stability…..drawing-in a younger group who will focus on different ideals….opening eyes of the blind to people of integrity, high morals, GODly work ethics….encourage children to LOVE learning in other ways than behind a desk…..and not just children, but adults who might want to be enlightened. Glenn seems to be connecting with God in a way that most of us can’t understand, yet. He’s building a way for passion to grow and evolve and blossom and the future world will be a better place because of it. Glenn’s passion has blossomed & he’s way ahead of most of us…..he might just want us to experience the same. When we allow the LORD to be part of something, large or small, there are no limits. Glenn seems to have found his path & he’s allowing us to walk it with him. Very cool!!! THANKS Glenn!!

I have no idea what you are talking about…
I understand the need to follow God and keep his commandments, but where does it say we can’t use the resources given to us to try to make the world a better place?
Where does it say I have to sit in a hole in a fetal position afraid of the world and material things?
Where does it say, “sit back and I will fight all your battles – no need to prepare or do anything for yourself?”
Who’s to say that God hasn’t given Glenn (or anyone like him) earthly riches to further His work on earth?
For those to whom much is given, much is required.
I am not afraid of the talents God has given me, as I believe that I will be held accountable for how I have used them. Glenn seems to be trying to use his for good.
God rescued Glenn, and now Glenn is trying to to follow God. We are all called to different responsibilities, this is Glenn’s.

Who rules over the earth right now? You think that a man on his own can change based on his dream? Where is God in that? Did you hear anything in Glenn’s video that referred to God or man?
It is my belief that the only way that we as a people become better, is to return to the Lord and not to a man. We see it time and time again in the Old Testament where God did not want kings, he wanted a direct relationship with each person, however, he allowed it, and look what happened time and time again. It is not an idea or dream of a man today that can change the world, it is through a direct relationship with the Almighty that will. The founders understood this that each person had to fail in order to grow, Glenn understands this as well as any as he had to go through it as well.
You know, I cannot tell you what God’s will is for someones life, however, I can tell you when it’s not. If it’s not apparent that God is not at the center of someones life, then you take what they say on guard. Always be careful of anyone who claims to be a godly leader.
Yes, I love Glenn, however, I would not be a good Christian if I did not question someones statements with boldness.

“It is my belief that the only way that we as a people become better, is to return to the Lord and not to a man.”
This is the part I don’t understand…
To me, we turn to God by following His commandments (if you love me, keep my commandments) and by serving others -The 2 greatest commandments.
God has always appointed leaders among His children (Moses comes to mind). I am not saying that Glenn is Moses, but I am saying that some people have a God given talent to lead others.
Glenn is using his talents to lead others (me included) to do things that I could not accomplish on my own. For example, I can donate food, but Glenn can fill 11 tractor trailers and deliver the food to those in need.
I’m sure we agree on the main ideas, but I don’t understand how Glenn is somehow evil or misdirected in all this. Glenn consistently mentions a return to God on his programs. I think he gives God the glory.
Maybe that is not what you are saying.
I am trying to understand your point, not argue with you.

I’m with you ALL THE WAY with God first, but I don’t see where Glenn has put Him second or worse. In fact, I think he’s followed Him and listened to Him throughout this process….even to the point of questioning God about where he was being led. Remember he was in the field, looking up saying, “REALLY?, this is it” (or something very similar). He questioned “Why Disney”, also. So far, I’m still seeing his walk WITH the Lord.

My concern for what Glenn is saying is surrounded by his uplifting of Walt Disney as a great man. Glenn has exalted Walt in a way that is not biblical. I have never seen God in any of Walt’s films, toys, or theme parks. I’ve never heard of Walt’s involvement with church, other than he states he is a religious man. I have never seen evidence of that. Creating movies to have children believe in magic goes against the Bible and God’s word. Either you keep the commandments as you have said, or you don’t. Again, I will tell you that I see no evidence of God in Walt Disney. Was he a good man, maybe, but a good and Godly man does not hide the light.

The Lord has been Glorified by Glenn Beck prior to starting this new project. Remember his “Restoring” events…..they were ALL about the Lord. It was in preparation to follow Him. Glenn has continued to encourage us to follow and place HIM first…Glenn continues to tell us to get our house in order and make the forty day pledge. etc.

Remember the old saying, “It’s east to grow old, but it’s difficult to grow up”? It is each person responsibility to watch out for those that would steer you wrong. That is why God wants a personal, direct interaction in your own life, and not through someone. Hence the reason for tabernacle, the holy of holy being split in two. The start of the new covenant that each of us follow the will of God for his own life, and knowing that each other person should do the same. We must watch be on constant guard for anyone that would direct us on the wide path.

The only Blessing that leads me is the Lord.
For some silly reason he’s led me here kicking & screaming, but here I am. It seems the concern is with Walt Disney…and Glenn’s connection to Walt. Some of the Disney stuff is not being shown in my home, so I get it. But I don’t see a worship from Glenn to Disney, only a respect for what Disney accomplished and how. It’s up to the Lord to judge Walt & Glenn, and all of us – so I leave that to the Expert. Glenn was as confused about why he was lead to Disney as I was when I was led to Glenn. We Must listen and go.
It seems Beck’s project won’t be rides & magic,….BUT facts and honor.
Give it time. I pray you are wrong, but respect your opinion.

Jan. 9, 2013 at 10:41am@2godbetheglory,
You are misrepresenting what Glenn is doing and what he has said. One at least two separate occasions, Glenn has said that Walt was a workaholic who was a terrible boss. It isn’t his leadership of his employees that Glenn is trying to emulate, but the dreamer and inventor that Glenn admires. Disney did something amazing in our history and created a legacy that most of the world has been touched by.
As far as dreams, you are way off base. A child of God who has his heart set on his heavenly Father has the freedom to dream and aspire to accomplish great things. Stop portraying God as a prison warden who hates any joy we might experience. HE created us with the capacity to dream, because we were created in His image. Go read the story of George Washington Carver, who used to go into his lab and dream about the possibilities, and then ask God to show him how to do it. Amazing story of faith.
And if by now you don’t know how reliant Glenn is on direction from God, even when it costs him everything, then you aren’t paying attention. If you are a father to children, I feel for your children. Let them use their God-given gift to dream!! And stop judging Glenn by a false standard.

After reviewing your past posts, and after prayer, I’ve decided that your argument lacked merit as you did not specified which comment you said was misleading and how you have commented in the past. You then state that you basically wished that I did not have children in an apparent attack on the way I raise children. It appears that this attack is based on your fact that Walt Disney has done great and wonderful things. Please let me know where in the Bible you will find what Walt did that one should give such praise? Show me where Jesus would welcome Walt’s “great” accomplishments. Show me where the glory is given to God, by Walt and by you. I am a servant of God, not myself or man. It is through the grace of God through Jesus that I have a relationship and an understanding of the Bible that God gave me, not man. God knows what is best for me, not you or I.
Please read the Holy Bible with a servants heart. Look at God’s words in the original Greek an Hebrew language if you can. The conversion from one language to another does cause a lack of understanding, i.e. the word “love’ when Peter and Jesus are talking about Peter feeding Jesus’s flock as just one instance.
