Conan O’Brien’s Take on Alex Jones’ CNN Appearance Might Be Even More Entertaining Than the Actual Interview
In case you missed it, Infowars.com’s Alex Jones appeared on CNN to debate gun control with Piers Morgan Monday night. To put it mildly, Jones lost his composure and has been subjected to good bit of ridicule ever since.
The wild interview caught the attention of late night TV host Conan O’Brien, who, with the help of his comedy team, put together his own take on Jones’ rant. The comedy sketch shows Jones wielding a handgun, firing shots passionately as he screams at Morgan, warning him against attempting to take Americans’ guns.
“I thought Piers handled it [well], he was very calm,” O’Brien joked.
Obviously, Jones didn’t actually have a gun during his interview on CNN — that’s why it’s funny. To be fair, Conan doesn’t seem to take a side in the gun control debate, he simply pokes fun at a bizarre exchange that has been dominating headlines ever since it occurred.
Watch the clip courtesy of TBS below:
In CONTROL, Glenn Beck presents a passionate, fact-based case for guns that reveals why gun control isn’t really about controlling guns at all; it’s about controlling us. I actually agree with you somewhat. I am a bigger fan of Beck than I am of Jones, but I am quite familiar with both. I get a little uneasy when I hear Beck rip into Alex. I wish he wouldn’t. I tend to agree with you in that lukewarm behavior has cured but few ills in our world’s history, and sometimes I feel that Beck is too timid and treads too lightly. I may not agree with everything that Alex Jones says or does, and I think he lost his cool in this interview, but I can at least appreciate the spirit and energy to enact change and create awareness.

Posted on January 9, 2013 at 11:26amI believe Alex hurt the cause much more than he helped it. While I agree with what Alex says, this debate on national TV should not have been intended to make gun advocates into lunatics to those that are sitting on the fence or slightly leaning more control yet that’s exactly what Jones’ rants and stupid British accent did.
We are not going to win this by preaching to the choir and patting each other on the back about how we won’t relinquish our guns and yadda yadda yadda (because when push come to shove, many/most WILL relinquish their guns, especially if the choice is food for your family or your gun). We are going to win by common sense, factual debate. We will win by winning those sitting on the fence so they look at true statistics around the world as well as in our country. We will win by changing the minds of those that are leaning toward more control. Many simply do not understand the debate and take for fact the crap the mainstream media spews. If they can see common-sense debate and stats, some of them will change their minds and THAT is how we will win. Ranting like Jones did will only hurt the cause and turn more people off thinking gun owners are all lunatics. Sometimes one cannot but wonder which side is paying Jones for his commentary.

Actually, Piers was pretty muted with Jones on, too … it seems to me that he realizes what an idiot he was on how he came across with Pratt when he first interviewed him, name-calling and all. He had to tone it down as acting like a moronic idiot sways people away from your side of an argument and someone most likely clued him into that. So, he calms down and invites Jones whom he knew would rant like a lunatic and that is exactly what he got. The marine that he had on the other night did a marvelous job, and I believe Pratt will now, again, do a great job. These thinking, rational individuals will do far more to sway people to the gun-rights side than any idiot screaming and ranting in a fake girly British accent.
We may just have to agree to disagree.

“He got alot of info out in a short amount of time and Piers brought Alex on to make a fool out of him but he did not succeed!”
We will have to disagree on this. He did get a lot of info out, but if you know people who are on the ‘more regulation’ side, ask them what they thought. I do know such people and I have discussed this with them, and they almost unanimously agree that while [some of them] are open to looking at opposing viewpoints, Jones showed them he came across as a lunatic and his information isn’t worth even looking into. (I disagree that his info is not worth looking into, but we are talking about if he did good to the fence-sitters and more-regulationers).
“It depends on how you grew up and your age I guess.”
“Quit believing the hogwash you are being fed!”
I have been in this fight longer than many here. I do not believe what the media tells me, but I also know that there are people out there who tend to cause more harm than good, whether purposeful or otherwise.
I recall back in the 1990s during the Waco incident a Linda Thompson came on the scene and proclaimed herself the Adjunct General of some citizen’s militia or some such thing. She had a FIDOnet echo that many participated in, myself included. She came out with a couple videos, the first proclaiming to show a military tank entering the WACO compound and spewing flame which she then claimed is what burnt the compound down.

I bought the video and examined it…. sure looked authentic and accurate to her explanation. A week or so later while going through some CNN footage I had taped in my VCR of that very incident I found that exact same scene from a CNN camera … and it showed the exact same thing … EXCEPT, if you allowed the video to continue instead of freezeframing at a particular spot, you could see that what seriously looked like flame from the turret was in fact some sort of cloth or drywall that had fell on it.
I presented that evidence to her echo and was immediately attacked by her and others, claiming I was a government plant, I was working with the feds, yadda yadda yadda.
The point I am making is that some of these people who purport to be ‘patriots’ and are out to help our Republic are more interested in their own fame and/or pocketbook and will do whatever it takes to continue their following. These types will attack anyone not aligning with their views, like Alex attacks Glenn Beck and others.
It seems to me be is being as loud and obnoxious as he can to gather fame; to get attention; to do whatever it takes to be self-serving.
(BTW, I do not know if Linda believed her own videotape and claims, but I know that to me it was quite obvious what was and was not the truth.)

I agree that we need to quit being so polite and ‘normal’, and I’ve said that here many times. However, in this specific fight, we had better acquire as many people to our side as possible. If we are to show sensible people our side of the fight, we had better come across and stable, sane and honest.
I don’t believe that adopting a Kramer-like attitude is the way to do that.

What if a gang came into your neighborhood ? or civil unrest do to food shortage ? these things will happen, you will have to protect your family, you can bet on it. A disaster happens like Sandy the hurricane, you would want to protect your family since the government left you on your own to survive. Their all lots of good reasons to have a gun around. I had a stocker threaten me, told cops they said “we can’t do anything till something happens” I said “like I’m dead” so I carried my gun everywhere. I felt safe . He broke his restraining order 3 times and the cops did nothing. One day my stocker made it to my house I was alone, couldn’t get to phone, so i pulled out my gun and had him walk slowly to my cell called cops, they came. They took him away the cop that was no help said your lucky you had a gun or you would have been dead, nice I thought, I just told him you guys were no help and to wait till something happens is crazy. Or a fleeing fugitive in a stolen car ran a red light and killed a bunch of innocent people, or a poorly maintained vehicle lost control, or a bus ran off a slippery road and people died and the cry for banning cars arose?
The Constitution doesn’t grant a right to own a car or to operate one; 30,000+ people are killed in the US each year by cars and strangely the cry for banning cars does not arise. Logic is a simple tool and the intentional refusal to exercise it is increasingly the tactic used by the Libs to lull simple minds into embracing the entire load of BS they’re doling out.

You might want to open a history book sometime and not a public school textbook. The second amendment was written so the government knows the people can over throw them at anytime. You say I’m wrong, then I refer you back to my first sentence. Also while you are learning that take a look and what happened when Hitler, Stalin, Mao and many other gun free countries left only the police and military armed. England has a ban on guns you are free to leave America at anytime.

Posted on January 9, 2013 at 2:20amAnd your reply survivor is the typical mindless leftist retort Survivor. All your side can do is stick your fingers in your ears and scream “no you’re wrong you racist” any time the positions you’ve been instructed to have is challenged. It’s kinda sad you can’t see it, but I learned long ago not to expect much out of liberals…you are after all the dumbest things people don’t eat. Nevermind the willful murders with cars knives and hammers don’t lead to a cry for a ban either. Drunk driving is criminal possession of an automobile, at it’s basest so that really can’t be deemed an accident by the way.
It’s always nice to see you special people on the left figure out how to use a computer and get your moms to help you type coherent sentences to express the talking points you mindless trash have been programmed with.

@mindless. You can just re read my first post. You obviously didn’t read it the first time and just went into the same tired old talking points I’ve seen 1000 times on this site. Go ahead and overthrow the most powerful military ever known with your well armed militia.

Posted on January 9, 2013 at 2:38am@dissent…your side, my side, there was a time when we were all on the same side. I get just as disgusted with people who knee jerk react to everything that happens in society and call for bans as I am of the stubborn pigheaded folk who won’t budge on any issue whether it was written 200 years ago or 2000 years ago. Common sense is not too common any more.

I read your post and what I said was not “talking points” they are true statements. You and your left wing extremists have been using the same talking points passed to you in Karl Marx Communist Manifesto to promote government control. Yes, I did read that too so I knew what it was all about.

I agree there was once a time when we were all on the same side. Ever hear of the Democratic Republican party? Heres a freebie for you so you can read about it.
http://law.jrank.org/pages/6058/Democratic-Republican-Party.html
Notice some stand out points:
1.Jefferson and his followers favored states’ rights and a strict interpretation of the Constitution.
2,They believed that a powerful central government posed a threat to individual liberties.
3.They saw the establishment of a national BANK OF THE UNITED STATES (which Hamilton strongly favored) as a means of usurping power that belonged to individual states, and they also believed that it would be tied too closely to the rich.
So, yes, common sense isn’t too common anymore in the “new” Democrat party,

Posted on January 9, 2013 at 9:29amSeed,
You miss my point entirely in your haste to get to your talking points. Look at the mental capacity of the mass shooting perpetrators, how many are declared incompetent and thus not responsible for their actions. Does that equate the acts to accidents? And if you believe a recidivist drunk driver’s killing of a car full of people is an accident you need to change your thinking.
The recent spate of gun killings has been perpetrated by nut jobs, brain altered drug users and violent criminals all of whom have misused an inherently safe device to kill others. If you include Ft Hood, a Muslim extremist, by many definitions another nut job.
You may not have been paying attention when, thanks to weasels like Al Gore, SUV’s were blamed for killing people independent of the actions of their drivers and there was a call by the Left to ban them. Not a single multi-fatality accident report was issued without mention of the car being an SUV (if indeed it in any way resembled one), much like the rush to label any gun involved in a shooting a “semi-automatic” or “assault type” weapon.
Do a little more homework and maybe your replies will make a bit more sense, your historical perspective needs to extend past yesterday HuffPo or MSNBC blather.

LIE:
“To put it mildly, Jones lost his composure and has been subjected to good bit of ridicule ever since.”
TRUTH:
While leftist democrats and leftist republicans (like Glenn Beck) have been attempting to smear Jones today, MUCH OF AMERICA STANDS BEHIND HIM AND APPLAUDS HIS ENERGY! AND MORE WILL BE TOMORROW! Any comment thread will illustrate that the REAL ridicule is aimed at SLIMEY, ALINSKYITE Glenn Beck!
FALSE:
“Obviously, Jones didn’t actually have a gun during his interview on CNN — that’s why it’s funny.”
TRUTH:
No, this is CLASSIC PROPAGANDA… DISGUISED AS HUMOR. Our televisions (sitcom after sitcom after sitcom) are BURSTING with this propaganda tactic. Which is why IT IS NOT FUNNY AY ALL, and doesn’t make much sense. Particularly the insinuation that Jones would murder somebody, simply because he FIERCELY defends the 2nd Amendment.
ALINSKYITE RIDICULE:
“bizarre exchange”

GET a LIFE or buy one from a lefty conservative that used to date a lefty leftist that was actually a statist but felt bad about Doc Paul and became a Taoist. You still don’t understand that you and the bot whack jobs like yourself sunk Paul’s boat, but continue to blather on? Why?

Responsible gun owners don’t act that way. Irrational people that shoot up the post office or mail letter bombs act that way. Responsible weapon owners have control. Irrational people off their meds who believe everybody is out to get them act like Jones did.

I hope they realize how PATHETICALLY TRANSPARENT their smear tactics are. I hate to be pegged a “conspiracy theorist,” but the words “New World Order Hatchetmen”… seems to fit nicely.
BTW, just for a little informative contrast.. I listened to Alex Jones today. He didn’t say a word about Beck.
