ESPN Announcers Go Gaga Over Alabama QB’s Beauty Queen Girlfriend During Title Game: ‘Wow!’

Considering that Monday night’s college national championship game between Alabama and Notre Dame was dominated by Alabama, there weren’t many competitive highlights (‘Bama won 42-14). So easily the talk of the night has become the way ESPN announcers Brent Musburger and Kirk Herbstreit fawned over the stunning girlfriend of Alabama’s quarterback AJ McCarron.

See, McCarron is dating current Miss Alabama USA Katherine Webb:

As you can imagine, Webb was a spectator at the game and the cameras regularly found her in the crowd. And upon doing so the first time, Musburger and Herbstreit couldn’t contain themselves.

“You quarterbacks, you get all the good-looking women,” Musburger said, directing the comment at Herbstreit who is a former quarterback himself. “What a beautiful woman.”

“Wow! AJ’s doing some things right–” Herbstreit responded.

“Whoa,” Musburger interrupted, nearly breathless. “If you’re a youngster in Alabama, start gettin’ the football out and throw it around the backyard with pop.”

Webb felt the effects of that praise. As she told Yahoo! Sports, her Twitter page went crazy after the Musburger comments.

“My phone is dead,” she explained, a result of the constant messages because of the attention. “My followers went from 2,300 this morning to 96,000 by the end of the night. I don’t know if I should even check now, I don’t know what is going on.”

“I guess [Musburger] said something but I don’t know what it was because I haven’t seen it.”

She would later garner over 100,000 followers. She has over 116,000 as of this writing.

  Well she is kinda hot. Most of these babes are not really attracted to the man himself-they are drawn to the “position” he plays on the team and the notoriety that it brings. If this slug was, lets say, the water boy, she wouldn’t give him the time of day.

  I second the notion that she’s smoking hot. The commentator is 73 years old, as far as I’m concerned, he can ramble on all he wants, he’s paid his dues. I generally tend to give the elderly the Get out of Jail Free card when it comes to expressing their opinions.

  I actually think he is just as good looking as she is. They kind of have that frat boy/sorority sister look about them. If neither of them had a title or star potential, I wouldn’t be surprised if I saw them out in public together.

  Musburger didn’t say anything wrong – he just said what all of the other men were thinking.
  
  Of course, being a hetrosexual male in today’s America is a problem for the pc crowd so ESPN issued the obligatory apology today, chastising Musburger for his comments.
  
  Musberger is from Montana and spends time here during his off season. I hope I see him running around here some time and will make it a point to congratulate him on his insight if I do.
  
  I hope he tells ESPN where to go and moves on from there.

  Hopefully the station would have had enough taste to not even pan to “him” or mention “him” at all…the young people watching that game did NOT need to be exposed to that sort of vile perversion…however, since she is a beautiful WOMAN (the way nature intended), he handled it perfectly normally

  If you are looking for gays on TV, just tune in to your regular network programming….for a group that represents 4% of the population, they seem to be on 100% of TV shows…which is just part of the reason I don’t watch network TV.

For those who don’t listen to Musburger and Herbstreit with any regularity, they can’t stop talking about the SEC, Alabama or LSU. Last night, they gave a plug to the Girls of the SEC. I think they get paid by Les Miles and Nick Saban.

My wife and I just stared at each other while these two cretins were commenting on her & her boyfriend, unbelievable, not to menion how racist it was, I’ve never heard these kind of comments about a black quarterbacks girlfriend.

  Why does everything have to be racist with some people? Amazing how a 20 second comment on a quarterback and how good a former beauty queen looks is taken and stretched all out of proportion. I’m sure that if a black quarterback had such a good looking girlfriend thay would have made a similar comment or woud you have said that was racist too? What was even creepier was Musburger’s disgusting infatuation with Notre Dame in the first quarter. This team shouldn’t have been in this bowl game. It seems Notre Dame is often regarded as a quality team no matter what their record is. Although Ms Webb is quite stunning

  Dude they were the only undefeated team in the BCS (eligible team). They beat #8, #10, #17, #18 and the preseason #1.. I detest the Irish but they belonged there more than any other team.

  Anybody who knows football knows that Notre Dame was not even a top 10 team this year. They played nobody and barely won several of their games. They were a paper tiger. They should have been in the Holiday Bowl or the Gator Bowl or some other third-tier game. They are the continued creation of the media and that’s it. They are the Dallas Cowboys of college football – they haven’t actually done anything for many years yet every year we are told how great they are going to be, and then they aren’t.
  
  The actual national championship game was the SEC championship game a month ago, Alabama vs. Georgia. Truth. But since they couldn’t politically have a rematch in the national championship game, then Oregon should have been there instead of Notre Dame since Oregon was the third best team in the country this year behind Alabama and Georgia.
  
  Notre Dame was never in that game last night. It was over by the end of the first quarter and everyone saw that. The ND coach knew that when he said at halftime,when asked what it would take for his team, down 28-0, to get back into the game in the second half, “Alabama can’t come out for the second half”. He knew what was coming for a month but could do nothing about it. The pseudo-Heisman candidate ND linebacker Te’o was exposed as just another middle of the road player – he won all those awards and got embarrassed last night in front of the whole country.

  The media in general seems to be in love with ND. They deserved a bowl game…but not this one. They deserved to be ranked..but not #1. There have been several teams that went undefeated and were not ranked #1. I put ND at the level of Tulane’s undefeated team when they ended up in the top 10, won their bowl game, but were obviously not in the same class as the big boys. They get way too much credit for their name. I would have preferred Oregon vs Alabama and it would have been a much better game. The one redeeming fact in all this is everyone in the nation saw exactly how over rated ND was and they were left without excuse as they were beaten in every phase of the game. There is no second guessing, no blaming refs, no argument. No controversy, no what ifs. I wish elections could have results like this. SEC – 7 years national champs!

This is all the media’s convenient distraction from an embarassing game between a football dynasty and a completely outmatched team. The National Championship game was played a month ago between Alabama v. Georgia. SEC is a league of their own.

Good grief! The man did NOTHING wrong! He is a OMMENTATOR! He makes COMMENTS!
The girl is beautiful and his comments were complimentary, not ‘creepy’ in any way. It amazes me that a culture that exalts the vile and salacious lyrics of rap music, consider remarks about a woman’s beauty as ‘creepy’. This country has been dropped completely on it’s head. I hope it gets better soon..
