Former U.S. Marine Vs. Piers Morgan on Guns: ‘We Can’t Give Up Our Rights Because We’re Afraid’
Fresh off his crazy interview with Alex Jones, CNN’s Piers Morgan hosted former U.S. Marine Joshua Boston on Tuesday to continue the debate over whether America needs stricter gun laws to address violent crime. Boston’s scathing letter to Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) regarding her strict gun control proposals, titled “No Ma’am,” went viral last week.
Boston said more gun laws is not what the country needs — It needs more firearms in the hands responsible gun owners.
“Where does that lead America to, other than utter Wild West hell,” Morgan later asked.
Boston calmly replied, “They said this was going to happen whenever Texas instituted its concealed handgun laws, and it hasn’t happened.” The former marine went on to say that there were concealed carry permit holders at several shootings, including the Tucson, Ariz. shooting that injured Rep. Gabby Giffords, but they did not draw and start firing their guns wildly.
“The American people aren’t as gun happy and as trigger happy as they are being made out to be by the media,” he said. “They are smarter than that. They know when to hold their fire, they know when to fire. And we can increase the chances of success for these people who get caught in these situations, for their survival, by education. We’ve got to stop making this a taboo subject to everyone because its scary.”
“We can’t give up our rights because we’re afraid,” Boston said.
To that, Morgan replied, “I believe the rights of a 6 or 7-year-old child to go to school without the fear of being murdered” are more important than other rights.
Boston then noted that the previous assault weapons ban didn’t stop Columbine from happening. Congress will never be able to legislate bad people from doing bad things, he explained.

Posted on January 8, 2013 at 11:32pmWhen asked SEVERAL times why anyone should own an AR-15, the proper response is, “they shouldn’t. They should have select-fire M-4′s and M-16′s, or whatever weapons the military and law enforcement get.” When the 2nd amendment was written, it was meant to give the people fire SUPERIORITY over the government so that the government would fear the people – not the people in fear of the government. One thing I definitely took away from this dialogue, though: Piers said he’s okay with people having pistols for both home defense and personal defense. I find that ironic, since in 2011, FBI’s UCR states 323 out of 12,664 murders in the US were by “rifle” (2.6%). 6,220 were by PISTOL (49.1%). In other words, for every assault rifle killing, there’s *19* pistol killings!

Unfortunately, Piers, you actually don’t have that right. That means that someone would be obligated by law to protect you at all times, and it simply isn’t so. SCOTUS already ruled police have no obligation to protect you. You DO have the right to protect yourself and your family, self defense starts and ends with you. You don’t have the the right to be kept safe, you do have the right to defend yourself.

Posted on January 9, 2013 at 9:53amwe know Morgan, democrats, and the MSM do not care about making America safe, lowering murder rates, or preserving the lives of children (check their stance on abortion).
If thy wanted to talk murder, and lowering it, then they would put the facts on the table, but they hate facts, and in reality they just want to grab guns.
Facts take away their blood thirst for wanting out rifles.
When you lay out that in 2011, there (according to the FBI) were more murders committed with clubs, knife, and by hand than all rifles combined, they squirm and get uncomfortable.
If you want to really see a lib squirm, then tell them that blacks make up 12% of the population, but do half of the nation’s murders per year. If we could lower black murder rates to the same as white murder rates, then we would drop the nation’s murder rate by almost 40%, and save a whole lot of black lives. Libs hate fact like this.
Let a lib know that close to 70% of our gun violence is related to gang activity, then ask if we should not worry less about rifles, and more about gangs, and they will shut up.
Ask a lib if they realize our violent crime is intrinsically tied to our welfare population, and they will really get miffed.
In a short while, libs will do what a lib always does when presented with cold hard facts and statistics, they will start reverting to the rules

Hitler was not imaginarily, he was real, and after disarming the civilian population, he killed six million of his own people. Mao was also real, also socialist, also sold his people on the value of redistribution of wealth. He killed 60 million of his un-armed citizens. Stalin another real person, also an avid gun control person like you, and he murdered 12 million
You will be proud to know, that I am currently training my neighbors, and we are well regulated. I have them calling wind very well, ranging with a reticule, and they are now hitting targets out to 600 yards. Their proficiency at coming out of the holster, engaging targets in shoot and no-shoot scenarios is really coming on. The mag changes still need some work, but they are improving. We should be holding our third IDPA style neighborhood pistol match in the next month, and our 3-gun stuff will kick in in the spring.
Remember though, we know you are not serious about lowering murder rates, but are only just interested in disarming the population. If you were interested in murder rates, then you would be talking about the fact that blacks make up 12% of the pop and do 1/2 the murders. You would also be talking about relationship between murder and welfare recipients.
If we can lower that black murder rate to the same as whites, we drop the national murder rate by almost 40% and save lots of black lives.

Speaking of” imaginary”, you do realize that murder via rifle being a national problem is imaginary also?
According to the FBI, more folks were killed in the US last year than all types of rifles
More folks were killed with clubs and hammers
More folks were killed with hands and feet.
You are are what COL Jeff Cooper used to refer to as a hoplophobe
Hoplophobia is a pejorative neologism originally coined to describe an “irrational aversion to weapons, as opposed to justified apprehension about those who may wield them.”It is sometimes used more generally to describe the “fear of weapons” or the “highly salient danger of these weapons” or the “fear of armed citizens”

Leave it to a progressive to start the name calling when they can’t deal with the facts! If you don’t want more tiny coffins filled let us have the rights afforded by the constitution. Remember, that school was a “gun free zone” and the freak still got in with a gun and killed 20 children! He was not a law abiding citizen, and it doesn’t matter what type of gun he used. The simple fact remains. He did not care about anything or anyone. He just knew that he would not have been confronted with someone who was armed until long after he had a chance to murder a bunch of innocent people. so stop your name calling and grow up!

That you choose not to see them is fine.
You will whine to the government to protect you after the fact, which is also your choice.
Curiously, with your attitude… as if any who oppose your opinion are gun nuts, i suspect you casually annoy those around you on a daily basis… including the little Hitlers in your orbit. Who do you think they will unconsciously go after first when given free reign by a successful attack on firearm ownership? It certainly won’t be the former owners of firearms… with or without we can and will stand up and defend ourselves. You sheeple, though… espcially the annoying sheeple… they’ll be first on the neighborhood spit, and that’s before the government gets around to ruling against you on something you like to do… reality TV? shopping? trans fats? driving where you want, when you want?
don’t own a firearm… I’m pleased you don’t, to be honest, relieved for your neighbors. But stop labeling those of us who do own, or merely support the right to own firearms. Don’t blame the tool, lest you become one.

In any case, we will never see from any American media a truthful unscewed report regarding gun deaths.

Posted on January 9, 2013 at 12:42pmAgain Peirs pushes the AR-15 argument (Probably thinks AR stands for Assult Rifle) when in fact if AR type semi automatic firearms wether it be rifle or handgun are banned it would also ban all semi auto firearms. Then if I assume that isn’t his intent is legislation going to be written to target specific firearms (by name and manufacture) since there is no such thing as an assult weapon. A nut could have a couple of level action rifles like the Marlin 336, Marlin 1894c, Winchester 94, fitted with forearm ammo cuffs, add in a couple of hand guns and get the same results as a AR-15. Slippery slope mister Morgan this is why there is so much passion is protecting a right to own firearms, not weapons.

I hate to break this to you, but the Military uses automatic weapons, not semi-automatic, so even with an AR-15, you’re at a distinct disadvantage compared to an M-16 and a host of other automatic weapons.
That being said, if you have enough citizens armed with AR-15s, even the military will think twice about taking our freedom. The 2nd Amendment is not about hunting, or personal self defense, it’s about defense against an out of control government.

Posted on January 9, 2013 at 7:47amCliff, you are an idiot. Sure, the U.S. military uses m-16 variants which are capable of burst, semi, or full auto fire. But this makes them no more deadly. In fact, automatic fire is not used in the majority of cases as a means to kill. Instead, it is used to suppress movement and make the enemy hide in cover while the opposition moves in the open. The same tactic can be accomplished by just a few individuals with strong trigger fingers or with the practice of bump firing the ar. Furthermore, our military is directly forbidden from taking part in policing operations by Posse Commitatus. A law passed shortly after the Civil War.
But, with all that said, the 2nd amendment says arms, which is an evolving term and it was meant to ensure that we would have modern arms no matter how much they changed. The ATF is unconstitutional and there should be no class 3 stamp required and there should be no registration.

Unless the “composition” of the military has changed drastically in the three years I’ve been out, “believing the lie” is a bridge we crossed some time ago…the battalion I was part of (in the SOUTH mind you) was just about half black/Hispanic. I often heard these soldiers (even NCOs) talk about how much they ENJOYED disarming and herassing citizens during Katrina and how they “wouldn’t hesitate” to open fire on WHITE AMERICANS if they “made a move” against Obama.
We MIGHT have support from the white, liberty minded higher ups, but your average black soldier (and there are HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS) will gladly step on your throat for Obama…luckily, they were ALL the worst shots and the dumbest, least capable of all our soldiers

Posted on January 9, 2013 at 9:45am@ Cliff, having served in combat during three tours, both Afghanistan and Iraq, been in countless fire fights, I never used the burst feature on my M4. Crew served are good for suppressive fire(M240, M2), but well placed accurate fire is what takes down the enemy. And, one of the biggest threats is us veterans. Those of us that fought in Iraq and Afghanistan know how to fight a guerilla campaign. IEDs haven’t been a threat in the US, but declare a war on the American people, and those of us that know how to fight, will be a lethal force to have to deal with. But, I still have many of my men that are Active Duty, the military would never fight that fight.

I was actually a part of a task force a few years ago that was trying to figure out how to recruit more African Americans into the combat arms. My point would be that most of the leadership LTC and down would not support this. I don’t trust many General Officers, they crave power, and are much more political. But I trust most of the LTS, SFCs and Company Comanders to do the right thing. There are some that won’t, but by and large they are good patriotic Americans. However, if you look at McArthur, he razed the veterans camp after WWI that only wanted the payments they were promised….. Notice that had he built a more realistic scenario, like fighting OWS, he would have got crushed. Also notice that the Tea Party is known for their loyalty to our constitution, the same constitution our military takes an oath to support and defend.

The notion that Morgan is a sissy is clear and we agree. But our understanding of individual rights in toto come from traditional British understandings of Natural Law. In fact, the 2nd Amendment’s understanding comes directly from the ancient Anglo-Saxon view of free men. In Anglo-Saxon England, a free man was separated by definition from a slave by his ability to keep and bear arms as he wished. In effect, the U.S. and to a lesser extent Canada are the last bastions of traditional British culture, when it comes to rights and traditions (and in some respects, language); England herself having abandoned and *forgotten* her own culture more than half a century ago. They literally have educated their population OUT of their own history, most now not even knowing that the common man up to the 1940′s could (and did) easily keep and bear arms without permissions.
There’s a reason why my family emigrated out of England, and it was clearly explained to me that it was because Englishmen and English traditions were no longer welcome on the Isle.

Can you carry multiple magazines for a pistol and do more damage than an AR-15? YES !!!! The AR uses a .22 caliber round. My .45 with hollow points will do a LOT more damage to the human body. It only take a second for an experienced shooter to change out a magazine. Oh, BTW, there is no legal civilian weapon that uses a “clip”. Those are used by fully automatic belt fed machine guns. Sorry, but the ignorance is very irritating. As far as the general, I respect his service, but that doesn’t automatically mean that he is right. The major components are identical between the full auto version and the semi auto version. Other than the auto sear and special bolt carrier which trips the upper sear as it moves into battery, they are one in the same. It is that auto sear which makes the military version an “assault weapon”. Without it, it is nothing more than a cool looking Browning BAR, Rem 742, Ruger 10/22 etc….. get the point?

Posted on January 8, 2013 at 11:30pm“Freedom from Fear” is a Norman Rockwell painting, it is not in the Bill of Rights.
Neither is Freedom from Being Insulted.
Neither is Freedom from Being Offended.
These are all Leftist freedoms that they want embodied in their new constitution.

Posted on January 9, 2013 at 10:27amHis nation doesn’t look like his nation anymore. His Bolshevik leftist ideals have broken’s England’s spirit with forced multiculturalism. I guess little Piers didn’t want to ride the British subways with any Moroccan Muslims or Islamists. His ideals helped ruin the UK and now he wants to bring that same ruin to America. Too late, the ruin began some time ago and chosen by the American voter. I saw the interview and the level of English smugness fogged up my screen. He’s desperate for ratings so he’s having actual news and stories covered on Drudge. The man and CNN are freaking out and have resorted to having to report actual stories.

Posted on January 8, 2013 at 11:22pmI will tell you the benefit of owning an AR15 (or better yet.. .and AR10) as if I even needed a benefit outside of my natural right to defend myself. My Government… who kills innocent Americans on a daily basis… has this type of rifle. I need the rifle to defend my family from them. Ruby Ridge, Waco, Kent State, the Native American experience, the black American experience, The extermination order against Mormons, the declaration of war against Mormons, Cartel invasion of America, and many many more. If you think your Government is not capable of tyranny and violence… WAKE UP!! YOU ARE STUPID!!

Posted on January 8, 2013 at 11:20pmi would like to ask piers morgan how disarming people would make the kids safe? i want to know why he thinks being shotat for 20 min before the police arrive is a safer and more noble response then giving people the ability to defend themselves. i want to know why brittian and austrailia and every other place in the world still has a massive violent crime problem that has not only NOT gone down but has risen. I want to know what piers thinks an appropriate response would be to a woman being raped? shoot the guy or get rapped, possibly killed and then let the police do their ‘job’

Whatever happened to that kid that was beaten to death with a railroad tie outside his school, THAT WAS ON TAPE? Oh wait, they were all black. No biggie.
Its strange to me that because this was a predominately white school, this is a national tragedy. I hate, hate, hate race baiting or racial anything, but I’ve noticed that when white children die, it’s tragic. When black children die, it’s “meh” or “urban.”
Is it just me that notices this?

It has nothing to do with being black. It is just that the black community has a higher viral load of socialist memes courtesy for the Democrat rancher elite.

Alex running his mouth off half-cocked is exactly the type behavior that scares people who are concerned about the ‘angry’ gun owners. People quit listening to him once he started yelling non-stop and behaved like a rabid dog. I’m surprised we didn’t witness him having a stroke on air.

I do not want to live in a Wild West Hell, either. I do not want to have to cower in fear behind a gun. And up until District of Columbia v. Heller, the right to own a gun under the Second Amendment was considered a collective, not individual right. Gun owners talk about refusing to give up their guns because they are afraid. I have no guns, I feel safe without having them. I do not live in fear. Should I sometime find myself a victim of a violent crime, I may reconsider how I feel about being a victim. Until that time, I refuse to live in fear, hiding behind a gun that makes me three times more likely to be killed by a gun than being without one.

In your mind & in the minds of other liberals.
How many people in the U.S. circa 1783 or 1800 owned guns versus how many were in the militias or U.S. Army?
Read the PirateCoast by Richard Zacks. The protagonist William Eaton often went hunting with a gun. HE OWNED & USED a GUN & HE WAS NOT PART OF A MILITIA!
Do you understand that?
You had better. It is people like him that keep you free. A person raised free by a yeoman farmer. It is the yeoman farmers throughout history that have kept nations free. These are people who bore arms as a right & they were not ordered about by insipid leftists.
Of course you are a liberal. You despise farmers in the South, the Midwest & the West. You despise fly over country & small town America. You despise people who cling to their traditions of hunting, self reliance & self defense. Yes we are self reliant; it doesn’t mean we don’t work cooperatively like for a barn raising or its’ modern equivalent. We are by far the largest component of those serving in the military (especially the south). We keep you free; you deserve despotism & sharia. After all are you going to fight for freedom?
Ha!
