Gen. Who Resigned Amid Critical Comments of Obama Offers Thoughts on Gun Control: ‘Serious Action Is Necessary’

General (Ret.) Stanley McChrystal Dishes on Gun Control, Says it Requires Serious Action

Retired Army Gen. Stanley McChrystal during a Tuesday broadcast of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” said gun control in the U.S. requires “serious action.”

“I spent a career carrying typically either a M16, and later a M4 carbine,” he said.

“And a M4 carbine fires a .223 caliber round, which is 5.56 millimeters, at about 3,000 feet per second. When it hits a human body, the effects are devastating. It’s designed to do that. That’s what our soldiers ought to carry,” he added.

He continued:

I personally don’t think there’s any need for that kind of weaponry on the streets and particularly around the schools in America. I believe that we’ve got to take a serious look — I understand everybody’s desire to have whatever they want — but we have to protect our children and our police and we have to protect our population. And I think we have to take a very mature look at that.

The former Commander of U.S. and NATO Coalition Forces in Afghanistan is, of course, referring to the Newtown, Conn., shooting that killed 26 people, including 20 children.

“I think serious action is necessary. Sometimes we talk about very limited actions on the edges, and I just don’t think that’s enough,” he said.

The “Morning Joe” hosts asked him if he has a message for the National Rifle Association and the House Judiciary Committee.

“I think we have to look at the situation in America,” he responded.

“The number of people killed by firearms is extraordinary compared to other nations. I don’t think we’re a bloodthirsty culture, and we need to look at everything we can do to safeguard our people,” he added.

The mind set seems to ignore the long term consequences of doing away with the freedoms/liberties that have enfluenced our nation into the free, high standard of living our nation enjoys.
Only the elite, rich in other nations enjoy the freedoms the middle class enjoy here in America.
Personally I think our elected leaders are headed in the wrong direction and the middle class will pay dearly.

All In, I agree. Way too many of these guys in senior leader positions in the military. The commies have their guys in place in the military. It will be up to the lower ranking military personnel to stand up and disobey unlawful orders when the time comes. I think the commies will be suprised by just how many will say no to tyranny!!!!!

Hmmm….high ranking member of global military-industrial complex wants to disarm citizens from the very weapons they would need to defend themselves against the global military-industrial complex? Shocking, I tell you, shocking….

Gen. McChrystal, you are a traitor and a disgrace to the uniform you wore. Patriot status revoked.

Please stay out of my life, I promise to stay out of yours. If a non-law abiding citizen kills my family with a weapon, I do not want tears, I do not want a memorial, I do not want flowers, for it is too late. At the end of the day, protecting my family is my job, not yours. Will you compensate me? Flowers will not do it. A stone with some letters inscribed will not do it. Expressions of sorrow are inadequate. No. I want their smiling faces, their hugs. This and this alone will do.

We have a constitutional right to self-defense. Above any man’s law’s, thought’s or worthless theories. Temporal restrictions are not right. They violate our sacred rights to defend ourselves and our families.

When I see YOU, first, give up every form of weapon, whether on your person or through hired security, then and only then, can you morally ask me to give up mine. But we both know this will not happen do we not. You and yours, you consider special, your lives worth more than me and mine. Well, news, this dog will not hunt. You give up yours first. You will not do it. Do you know why?

We both know why. Please give me the math on how you calculate you and yours is worth more than me and mine. How does the equation work exactly? How does your math work? Please give me the math. Show me man/WOman. Show me how you and the math works how you equal more than me. You will not do it, will you. Lead, give your up first, I’m waiting. Pathetic moron.

It was not previously known that Gen. McChrystal is an enemy of the Constitution and of the People. Now that we have the information, it is necessary that our judgment of him reflect the same. Part of “making up your mind” is also changing it to reflect facts newly revealed – there is no inconsistency in that.

This attitude is why he was picked for command in Afghanistan. The rank of General is a political thing and more political now than it used to be. When your boys are in power you ro right to the top. Most in the military are more conservitive. Histoy teaches all we need to know about gun control. Take the guns from the people and you enslave them. You eliminate all chance of facing a down a totalitarian state. The poeple are already out gunned by the military in the us now but when you take the guns from free people, you are just insuring that they know their place. It is not a good place. The United States has represented the greatest freedom man has ever enjoyed. In the history of the world Freedom is the exception. Wen we loose our freedom shall be hundrens if not thougands of years before man see shuch freedom again. It is a sad time for the country and the world.

Hey obama picked this guy for the job because of this exact belief system. It does not surprise me. They think that they would be the ones with the guns and the people would be the serfs. Most in the military have more sense but some do think like this. History teaches all I have to know, when they go after guns they want to control the people. You will never stop the madmen from doing their evil. Look at the Okalahoma Chity bombing and the Twin Towers, no guns there. Every time you make another gun free zone you make it a target for the nut cases. Just because someone is crazy does not mean that they are not smart and clever. These guys have nothing else to do but plan their twisted attack. You will never stop some of these people.

      OK
So Drug Free School Zones haven’t worked.
You OK with allowing drugs / promoting more drugs in our schools?

You will never stop some of these wrongs so… Why even try – right?
Why even put ANY limits in place?

I have to reply ZAPPARULES your logic is illogical. First you prove your very point the laws making the schools drug free zones do not work that is correct. In the case of no guns on school grounds that does not work either, but what you have done, is prevent anyone legally permitted to carry a gun from being on the school gruouds. Thus when the nut case decides to attack at the school there is litterly no one to stop him. It is totally differnt from someone selling a joint on the school groungs. Also no one suggested giving up on the gun laws that we have right now. Everyone of these insane people is in violation of multiple gun laws. So let us make more gun laws that the honest folks follow but the insane or criminal pay no attention to. Just about every one of our shooters has give strong signals that they are dangerous and for the most part the people around them have ignored the signs. We then pay the price.

Guys like this have no thoughts other than where they can get the next attention. My general experience with military personel, friends, family, aquaintances is that enlisted men understand more about the constitution and its application than officers.

So you feel better about Obama’s selection of former enlisted solder Hagel as Sec of Defense – eh?
Per your general experience… Hagel should understand more about the constitution then say… Most other non-enlisted folks – eh?
