D.C. Attorney General’s Office to TheBlaze: We Expect Decision on Whether to Pursue David Gregory Case ‘Soon’

D.C. Attorney Generals Office Expects Decision on Whether to Pursue David Gregory Case Soon

NBC

The Washington, D.C. attorney general’s office expects to announce “pretty soon” whether it will pursue a case against NBC’s David Gregory for apparently holding up a high-capacity ammunition magazine on national television last month, a spokesman said.

Ted Gest, public information officer for D.C. Attorney General Irvin Nathan, told TheBlaze Wednesday the office is “looking into it” with an announcement possible by the end of the week.

“We are looking into it and I can’t give you some exact time [on announcing a decision whether or not to pursue],” Gest said. “Pretty soon.”

Gest’s comment came after a spokeswoman for D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier told the Washington Post Tuesday that the department β€œcompleted the investigation into this matter, and the case has been presented to the OAG for a determination of the prosecutorial merit of the case.”

Gregory pulled the magazine out during a “Meet the Press” interview with National Rifle Association CEO Wayne LaPierre following the elementary school massacre in Newtown, Conn. In D.C., where “Meet the Press” tapes, it is illegal to possess a magazine capable of holding 10 or more rounds of ammunition. Violations are punishable by a year in jail and a $1,000 fine.

Lanier previously said D.C. police were investigating the incident to determine whether the magazine Gregory brandished was real.

NBC reportedly sought permission to bring a magazine on the show but was denied.

Gregory inadvertently demonstrated that the gun laws on the books are not enforced so any further gun laws would be pointless.

I believe they will do something minor adding up to no more than a slap on the wrist just so they can say…see, we even went after an anti-gun advocate for breaking the rules.

They’ll castigate Gregory ONLY to set a legal precedent; then they’ll pardon him, because he’s a loyal hack for the Obama regime. The rest of you get caught will get no pardon. It’s the way of DC.

Governors of 35 states have filed suit against the Federal Government for imposing unlawful burdens upon them. It only takes 38 (of the 50) States to convene a Constitutional Convention.
This will take less than thirty seconds to read. If you agree, please pass it on.
This is an idea that we should address.
For too long we have been too complacent about the workings of Congress. Many citizens had no idea that members of Congress could retire with the same pay after only one term, that they specifically exempted themselves from many of the laws they have passed (such as being exempt from any fear of prosecution for sexual harassment) while ordinary citizens must live under those laws. The latest is to exempt themselves from the Healthcare Reform that passed … in all of its forms. Somehow, that doesn’t seem logical. We do not have an elite that is above the law. I truly don’t care if they are Democrat, Republican, Independent or whatever . The self-serving must stop.

If they don’t prosecute him they better let free and pay restitution for the other people they nailed with those stupid gun laws. Especially Army Specialist Adam Meckler.

well if they were denied permission and did it anyway then a fine is certainly in order and perhaps jail time would be a good thing too just to let the liberals know what a stupid, idiotic ass-wipe law they have created

Fact is gregory has the same Constitutional rights as any other gun owner. And Unconstitutional law used to threaten a lawful Conservative gun owner is UnConstitutional to threaten a liberal dou*he like gregory.

The $1000 fine is small potatoes to Gregory. he spends that on Friday nights out to dinner with his Bolshevik colleagues. I’d like him to get the year in jail. Now that would be something. He’d be bought and sold for a pack a ramen noodles within 48 hours!!! Ha!!!!

Which laws should we abide by? Illegals aren’t illegal; most laws seem to be just hot air for libs and progs to maintain power and obtain “revenue”. Glad you don’t use the same ranges I do.

He is not above the law. Arrest him, fine him and/or put him in jail.
He could have easily avoided the situation and still gotten his point across. He could have shown an actual size photo of a high capacity magazine.

My bet is that they will not pursue because the media is above the law and the administation condones and expects them to not be held to the laws imposed upon the common American. The media elite must be protected at all costs because they sing the praises of the Obama administration.

We must become informed as to what exactly are the POTUS’s actual limitations. I have never seen anything like the “Obama is gonna do this and Obama is gonna do that” with any other President so I have to ask the question, “What the heck was Pres Bush doing when he could have been a ruler like Obama?”

David Gregory should be prosecuted for breaking D.C.’s own gun control laws and be forever discredited as a professional journalist, since David Gregory knew 1) for a fact that the assault weapon was definitely not used in the massacre, 2) that the Newtown Police Department told all press to not link that weapon to the murders (because it wasn’t used), and 3) that the dramatic theatrics of displaying the weapon, though an outright lie and breach of the public trust, would help keep people in the emotional reactive state of hysterics longer so the corrupt politicians that want to disarm the People can have more time to work on their goal, without the common people returning to a state of logic.
