Piers Morgan Deportation Petition Gets Official White House Response (Hint: He Won’t Be Deported!)

It’s been a heavy-duty media week for CNN host Piers Morgan. After publicly sparing with radio host Alex Jones, the popular personality and anti-gun advocate is capturing headlines for yet another reason. The White House officially responded on Wednesday to a much-publicized petition (one that Jones was purportedly involved in) calling for Morgan to be deported.

After bringing in 109,334 signatures, the Obama administration was forced, as per its pledge to respond to all petitions exceeding 25,000, to offer an official response. In a statement published on WhiteHouse.gov, White House Press Secretary Jay Carney reminded those behind the petition — as well as those who signed it — to “keep the First [Amendment]” in mind when defending gun rights.

Rather than naming Morgan or spending time defending his specific character, Carney spoke generally about the need to respect freedom of speech and the press. He wrote, in part:

Let’s not let arguments over the Constitution’s Second Amendment violate the spirit of its First. President Obama believes that the Second Amendment guarantees an individual right to bear arms. However, the Constitution not only guarantees an individual right to bear arms, but also enshrines the freedom of speech and the freedom of the press — fundamental principles that are essential to our democracy. Americans may disagree on matters of public policy and express those disagreements vigorously, but no one should be punished by the government simply because he or she expressed a view on the Second Amendment — or any other matter of public concern.

We recognize that the tragedy in Newtown, Connecticut, sparked an intense, and at times emotional, national conversation about the steps we can take as a country to reduce gun violence. In fact, your petition is one of many on the issue, and President Obama personally responded by sharing his views on this important issue.

So, there you have it. Morgan’s speech — like its contents or not — is protected. Read Carney’s entire response here.

I see we’ve temporarily retracted our Alinskyte-smearing of Alex Jones. “popular personality and anti-gun advocate” – MUCH more TRUTHFUL. It’s good to see that the FAKE-conservative Beck/Blaze knows it jumped the shark by smearing Jones. They must’ve lost A TON of listeners/readers overnight, with that MAJOR BACKFIRE. And remember, once someone wakes to your ruse, they NEVER COME BACK.

I’m going to get kicked for this, but the White House statement is correct.

Freedom of speech is of paramount importance. Maybe you don’t agree with it, maybe you are offended by it, but it is rightly protected.

Mr Morgan is receiving just criticism and vilification (from me as well), but deporting someone for expressing their view on a subject is contrary to all the free people stand for.

  The way I understood it- Freedom of Speech and the right to it pertains to Americans. He is not an American and has no expectation of protection under our laws which he despises. As far as I’m concerned he is Anti American and spreading that sentiment and calling for shooting the opposition. The latter I would consider hate speech which is a whole different ball game.

All of those petition signers should inundate CNN with emails and phone calls and see how long they back this bozo. It will be tough to get him out of the country, though. There are way too many job opportunities in this country for leftist loons willing to promote Obama’s agenda. Someone else would hire him in a second. Some folks just like to watch things that are provocative – they don’t care what it is, as long as there is shouting. Piers is good at provoking shouting.

Alex Jones didn’t do any of us a favor. He is a fool and just loves a good conspiracy theory. He will jump on everyone he can find. Glenn doesn’t engage in them. He uses real research to back up his views. Alex Jones doesn’t like him, because he won’t jump on the conspiracy band wagon. My own FB friends of whom I have several jump on every one of them that comes down the pike. Common sense would tell people to use their brains. All it does is make us look even more like the fools that the liberal left seems to think we are. AJ is making fortune spouting the crap he spouts, and he is quite aware that there are others out there that just watch and wait for the newest one to jump in on. Like the Sandy Hook “Hoax”.
